— LauraW. Pretty decent video mashup of moments from his speech. I almost want to dip my balls in it. Your mileage may vary.

So sign up for the military, serve honorably and then you can get that wonderful health care you've heard about from the VA.
And isn't it funny that all the positive stories about the VAs started to make the press around the same time Democrats started yearning for socialized health care? It's almost as if the stories in the 70s and 80s were used to bash the military in the post-Viet Nam era and then -- WHAM!! -- everything changed on a dime when socialists started pushing for socialization. Hmm. Who to believe?
Well I'll believe my ex who happens to be an MD. The care at private hospitals is better.

The health care provided by the government to those vets, etc is ass on a stick. Also, not all vets get free health care. That comes with a 20 year commitment or getting out before that with injuries.
I think is someone spent 20 years in the military, getting paid well below their civilian counterparts, having frequent extended periods of time away from their family, and the possibility of going to war; yeah, they've earned their "free" healthcare (not that it is free, they pay taxes to).
You haven't.

Government workers, vets, old people, they all get socialized medicine. Why can't I the American taxpayer ? Aftter all I am paying it for THEM.

Alternatively, John, you can get a job that offers subsidized health care benefits (as most do) and sign up for a policy. As a second alternative, you can butch up and take responsibility for your own health care needs, just as you're expected to provide for your own transportation to and from a place of work. Or, as a third option, you can convince me that the maintenance of your health should in any way negatively impact the financial well-being of my family, despite the fact that I don't know or care about you.
And the irony of a liberal pointing to the third-world-quality VA system as an example of the wonders of socialized medicine is just too rich and creamy.
