Dare We Dream? Obama Doesn't Have Nomination Locked Up
— Ace

Oh, of course he does, but let's pretend.

Need for nomination are 2,118 delegates. Thus, at the moment, the projection is for Senator Obama, certainly, but only by 40 votes and the fact is that the Super-delegates can make up their minds, or change them, at any time, right up to the time to vote on nomination night. The big dance thus centers on the Super-delegates and what they decide may still be in question. Indeed, a change of thinking amongst 40 Super-delegates would be enough to throw Obama’s nomination in doubt and a wholesale defection of

298 of the Supers would change the dynamics to such an extent that Senator Clinton would receive the nomination.

Just a month or so ago, this kind of thinking would be totally off the wall, but a lot has changed in a month and a lot more could switch within another week. Ever since Barack returned from his mid-East “rock concert,” his image has been shrinking. Figure for a moment that Obama is now seen in the popular vote as in virtually a statistical dead heat with John McCain.

All indications and past indicators would favor the presumed Democratic nominee being well ahead in the popular polls right now. Figure that the Saddleback conversations were most unhelpful to Obama where John McCain is widely perceived to have clobbered him, and which were viewed by a large mass audience. Figure that the Clintons have been quietly working away to have major presence at the Convention and have insisted that Hillary’s name be placed in nomination. Supposedly, she will then tell all her supporters to vote for Obama…maybe.

...

And in this case the campaign has not been so quiet. The seeds of distrust and disenchantment have been effectively thrown and not the least of which has been by the presumed candidate Barrack Obama himself. At the moment he is not playing very well on the American stage and a lot of the Democratic powers-that- be know it. While they are putting on a good face and spinning the inevitable spin, the facts are that there is a lot of worry amongst the Democrats as to whether Obama can win in November. Hillary is ambitious and seems to be gaining momentum as a possible alternative.

Special inducement for Hillary and PUMA: If Hillary attempts this and succeeds, I will endorse her and become her biggest supporter.

Because Hillary would in fact be the real Messiah.

Oh: And of course Hill's Angels are planning all sorts of shenanigans.

But we know for a fact Hillary is telling them in no uncertain terms to cool their jets and support Obama.

2 Way to screw up the comments section there.

I like how it's all gay......gray. Same Shit.

3 I think this is a lot more likely than some give it credit. Sure, it probably won't happen, but I'd put the odds of it in the double digits. And Algore is someone I've long suspected could step in in this case.

4 Well, if Hillary! has a serious August surprise prepared, she pretty much has to spring it now -- today or this weekend -- in order to give the talking heads sufficient time to generate the political cover required by the Super Dels to switch.  Tuesday would be simply too late.

To take the nomination from Obama now would rip the Democratic Party apart.  There is no sense in doing it because there would be no way for Hillary to win.  She'd be lucky to get half the black vote which would destroy any chance for her to win.  No, her best bet is to seem to support Obama while working behind the scenes to ensure a loss paving the way for her to run again in 2012.  It's pretty obvious that is what is happening right now as we speak (I wonder if Obama has ever had the urge to tell her she doesn't have to fall in love she just has to fall in line?  That would be sweet).

I do note that Mr. Weinburger made the assertion that McCain would have a harder time running against Al Gore or Hillary than Obama.  That tells me all I need to know about the political acumen of Mr. Weinburger.  The Republicans would have a field day with Al Gore. Clinton would certainly beat McCain but, alas, the Democratic primary voters decided to go for the entire enchilada and nominate the biggest leftist in the race.  It was hubris, pure and simple.  Wonderfully delicious Kosian, nutroot hubris.

From the article:

Welcome to the least appropriately named ever, Louis. Those Democrats aren't very Democratic, are they?

Could Hillary filibuster the convention?

I mean, damn, who could get her *off* the stage?

The new ads against Obama are picking off the last uncommitted voters in McCain's favor. Look for another drop before the convention or there maybe a big problem.

Assuming she didn't struggle too much, I'd reckon it would still take a front loader or something.

14 He'll get a bounce that will boost him to a significant lead but it will be gone before the end of September. Reverend Wright videos are waiting to make their appearance, and I'll bet there is some other October surprise that will knock him down to where he can't come back.

Here we go again with the race-card pulling:

hahaha @ Rep Shelley Berkley (Douchebag - Nevada) for saying that McCain's use of "elitist" is code for uppity black man.

If that were to actually happen, I think I would literally piss my self laughing.  That and I would pretty much be guaranteed front row seats to the Democratic Party meltdown and riot in Denver.  Watching hippies get gassed never gets old.

But hey, hope does spring eternal…

Wouldn't it be more wise for McCain to make his selection after Obama makes his selection?

Or even wait until right after the Dem convention to make the announcement?

Because no matter who Obama picks, the MSM will commence with the gushing and the verbal handjobs.

21 It would be crazy.  But if the superdelegates think that Obama is a sure loss, and that Hillary will reward them for a switch, it is certainly possible.

I am confused by this. It is obviously referring to the mythological black mans penis, who else can step on his own dick but the black man, yet it mentions golf cleats, a white mans game.

What is this trying to say about Obama?  Is he a black man trying to be a white man, is he white inside, symbolized by wearing golf cleats.

I am confused.

I did not know Sun Tzu was racist.

File this under: Can you believe the balls on this fucking guy?

Obama, today, called for the "phased redeployment of U.S. troops in Iraq over the next 16 months" just as the U.S. and Iraqi Parliament are setting the U.S. military withdrawal goal-date of...

yep, you guessed it, within the next 16 months.

Thank you, Obama!

It surprised em when Hillary conceded.  She could have been playing for this all summer and the media would have questioned O's superdelegate support thereby causing superdelegates to question their support.

All she has to do is survive the 1st ballot.  Then its a brawl for delegates.

I know I'm a real pipedreamer

26 Heh, the Democrats wanted an Obamessiah, now they have him, and they're pretty much doomed to have him until the end. (Which we pray to God is the first Tuesday in November. ^^ The Hildabeast has no one to blame but herself (and Hubby, and Algore) for not getting the nomination. Sorry Hillary, we voted down Aaron Burr for having less overweening ambition to hold the Oval Office, you didn't have a chance.

What we should be doing Ace, instead of fantasizing about a divided convention, is be on our knees praying for the following thins. First, for Biden to stick his foot in his mouth; second, for the "Recreate Sixty-Eight" crowd to do just that; lastly, for a freezing cold rainstorm to hit the arena during the Obamessiah's acceptance speech & short out his TelePrompter.

27 Hillary supporters can easily pull shenanigans during the convention.  After all, they are already carrying brooms.
