— Open Blog Over at the Corner, Kathryn Jean Lopez points to an exchange between lovely/creamy White House Press Secretary Dana Perino:

and hideous terrorist apologist Helen Thomas:

Q Why should we depend on him?MS. PERINO: Because he is the commander on the ground, Helen. He's the one who is making sure that the situation is moving
Q You mean how many more people we kill?
MS. PERINO: Helen, I find it really unfortunate that you use your front row position, bestowed upon you by your colleagues, to make such statements. This is a it is an honor and a privilege to be in the briefing room, and to suggest that we, at the United States, are killing innocent people is just absurd and very offensive.
Theres a little more at the link. For further enjoyment, Hugh Hewitt interviewed the old bat last year, and guess what? She sounds like any other garden variety moonbat devoid of substance and incapable of rational thought. Heres a link to that interview.
On a related note, Paul Mirengoff at Power Line mentions attending an Ann Coulter speech earlier this week. Ann reveals that one thing she'd love to do is to serve as the President's Press Secretary for the rest of his administration. I would dearly love to see that happen.

Helen Thomas doesn't act so much like a reporter as she does like a spoiled brat in a perpetual temper-tantrum.
Comics make much of the image of the old person in diapers acting like a baby. Reality is not so pretty.

Oh my goodness, yes! The way in which she would habitually cut those jackals down would only be half the fun, too. The other half would be watching them get relentlessly apoplectic. Imagine David Gregory getting the vapors when Ann cuts off his latest preening stupid pose of a question.

"Would it not be graceful for Thomas' employer to ask her to resign?"
Everytime they go to her bridge to fire her, she pulls them under and devours them.

This followed the above exchange:
Q Do you know how many we have since the start of this war?
MS. PERINO: How many — we are going after the enemy, Helen. To the extent that any innocent Iraqis have been killed, we have expressed regret for it.
Q Oh, regret. It doesn't bring back a life.
To which I wish Ms Perino had replied:
No, regret doesn't bring back life, but it does reflect the lack of intent to take innicent life. Both observations explain why the terrorist in the world never do express regret for the many tens of thousands of innocent they kill.

Send a thank you card to the troops courtesy of xerox. Go to the site and pick a design, add a message, and they will send it for you. You can send as many cards as you want. They just ask that you pick different designs so the troops will get a variety.

But other than that, I like her just fine.

It's probably better to keep her employed. That way you can track where she is and what she is doing. You know, keep her out of the shadows and stuff.

"Would it not be graceful for Thomas' employer to ask her to resign?"
----------------------------------------
NO. As usual, it's time for a little Godfather II:
PERINO : You were around the old timers -- and meeting up on how the family should be organized. How they based
them on the old Roman legions and called them regimes -- the capos and the soldiers. And I worked.
THOMAS: Yea, it worked. Those were the great old days you know. And
one was like to Roman Empire. The KENNEDY Family was like the Roman
Empire.
PERINO : It was once, THOMAS -- when a plot against the Emperor failed -- the planners were always given a chance to
let their families keep their fortunes.
THOMAS: Yea -- but only the rich guys PERINO. The little guys -- they got knocked off and all their estates went to the
Emperors. Unless they went home and uh, killed themselves -- then nothing happened. And their families --
their families were taken care of PERINO.
PERINO: That was a good break -- nice funeral.
PENTANGELI: Yea -- they
went home -- and sat in a hot bath -- opened up their veins -- and
bleed to death.. And sometimes had a little party before they did it.
PERINO: Don't worry about anything THOMAS .

Oh, perhaps this:
(Dana) spent
time training their short-haired Vizsla, named Henry.
Now, when she says, "Tell us what you really think about John
Kerry," Henry fetches a flip-flop.
Asked if "anybody thinks that Bill Clinton should be in jail," Henry
barks.

In all seriousness, she doesn't have an employer. For several years, she's been down to syndication in very few (almost zero) papers. Apparently out of sympathy, they let her keep her seat, but she is essentially not a reporter anymore. Now, she's just a full-time idiot, making speeches from the front row.

They should rig it up like one of those trap doors you see in cartoons (but never in real life) and park Helen's usual seat on top of it.

thanks for the note and here's some Latin for you: when you refuse to address information aka facts and rely instead upon insult it is called an attack ad hominem. now why don't you instead of presuming me to be a fuckwit actually address the issue at hand.
we are none too popular and becoming less so for our extravagant use of airpower to assault insurgents and limit our casualties and oh by the way killing a bunch of other people. thus metastasizing the problem. this is familiar to those of us with memory of viet nam. 40% of the american casualties there were after nixon came to power and kept the war going for prestige/domestic political reasons, knowing full well there was no triumph possible by force of arms. i think there were something like one million and a half "regrettable" deaths there. shall we do an encore?
i'd be happy to hear what informs the "seems to me" part... do you have any casualty figures for example?
