— Ace

This doesn't seem to be a propaganda video on behalf of the Georgians. But it should be.

Story here. Video below the jump.

Thanks to someone.

2 Wow, if the rest of those Georgians are as tough as that reporter, the russians may be in for some trouble down the road.

Hot!

I'd hit that like a sniper!

Can you imagine any of our fearless Deciders forging on in similar circumstances?  I can't either.

4 She's awesome. And she was awesome before being wounded and keeping on.

Posted by: Christoph at August 14, 2008 11:55 AM (hawOV)

5 And she is SO beyond 'cute'.

6 "Can you imagine any of our fearless Deciders forging on in similar circumstances?  I can't either."

It depends. I think Bill O'Reilly might -- if he was on camera. Olbermann might be tempted to too, in private. But on camera he'd have to shriek like a little girl to stay in tune with the wimpmen in his audience.

Posted by: Christoph at August 14, 2008 12:00 PM (hawOV)

7 Wow, check this out. This almost belongs in an update or second post.

Russians were also shooting at international journalists from Israel.

Posted by: Christoph at August 14, 2008 12:03 PM (hawOV)

8 So, the Duranty's of the western media going to protest the deliberate, and it doesn't get more deliberate than a sniper shot, targeting of reporters by the Russians?

Day-um.

I'd hit it, but she'd just keep on reporting.

Well done, Ms. Georgian Journalist.

10 Tough call for the MSM: run it or spike it?  One the one hand, anything that reminds voters that the world is a dangerous place full of bad actors has to be bad for the Chosen One, so spike it.  But OTOH these are journalists, dammit!

Posted by: quiggs at August 14, 2008 12:09 PM (KAe5r)

11 South Ossetians are bastards.  Georgia went in to stop them from murder and rape.  That's all they were doing.  Russia kept givng the thugs longer range weapons and goading them into killing Georgians (As they are still doing today), in order to force Georgia to defend themselves... and once they did, Russia rolls in the tanks and bombers.

It's that simple.  It's not like Georgia wanted to take South Ossetia back... it's hardly worth it.  They just don't want them killing innocent people.  It's a lot like Palestine.  The Russians think the world are idiots if they think their lies will hold.

The Georgian reporter vid is on CNN's homepage. Has been for at least an hour. Did you see the video at Hot Air with the other shooting?

16 As well as mutual defense assistance to go beyond NATO, Toby.

This is awesome. If everything goes right, there might finally be an opportunity to confront Russia and humiliate Vladimir Putin. Back them into a corner and put an economic and PR boot on his neck!

When the news matters, she's the real deal.

May the terrorist himself suffer the fate he places on others.

After Bush's speech over a month ago about appeasement being for losers, it's time to gear up the intestinal fortitude.

28 Obviously, Ms. Georgian Reporter is well aware that there might be someone younger and prettier waiting in the wings to take her job. Or she's angling for an anchor job. Either way, kudos for taking one for the team!

Posted by: shibumi at August 14, 2008 04:20 PM (tZB/c)

29 Christoph-  I agree.  O'Reilly would probably just yell "Fuck It!  We'll do it live!"  Then he would call the sniper a pin head.  Olberdouche on the other hand would claim that it was all a Karl Rovian conspiracy.

Posted by: Prufrock at August 14, 2008 05:21 PM (vISQb)

32 What?

I hate to pour cold water on the circle-jerk here, but the cynic in me thinks it unlikely that was a sniper shot.

Maybe a ricocheted fragment.

Yeah, she's tough to keep reporting, and I'd be on her like Michael Moore on the last ham sammich at the buffet, but I'll wait for confirmation on what actually happened.

Our media has been showing several of the attacks and threats against news reporters, including one of a presumably South Ossetian paramilitary, freikorps thug threatening a cameraman and reporters and stealing their car at pistol-point. So it looks like Russia's "allies" have been brought along with them into Georgia too.

This just in:  Olbermann names this girl "worst person in the world" for being a tool of the neocon politicians by pretending to be shot.

Posted by: PDizzle at August 14, 2008 07:04 PM (btpzp)

40 The Russians think the world are idiots if they think their lies will hold.

You must be late to this party, the vast majority of the world is idiots.  From the coverage I've seen, the criticism of Russia is about their "disproportionate response".  I've heard nary a word about them goading Georgia into a war just so they could cripple them.  As long as Russia sets a timetable for withdrawal, their sins will be forgiven by the end of the year.  They don't even have to leave South Ossetia, they just have to leave Georgia proper and that will be good enough for most people.

43 I was watching CNN international, and Mathew Chance was reporting live with the Russian convoy at Gori. But there was a goonish Russian soldier standing right next to him in the reporting...he was smoking and making occasional comments to the camera. I don't know if he was there on orders, or just some cocky soldier. Was not an officer, though.
