— Ace Sadly, I don't have a clip of it yet (those Newsbusters are slacking), but ArthurK. saw it last night.
Just as predicted -- including a substitution for the printing-presses-rolling-off-currency part.
Watched ABC network news. They had a mini-montage.1) Cash registers beeping and cash register drawers popping open, filled with cash.
They showed cash being counted - twice.
2) The ding-ding-ding at day's end on Wall Street, to the cheers of traders.
Check.
3) Government printing presses rolling off millions of dollars in $100 bills.
Housing, for sale signs. Happy people in car showrooms.
Actually that's not a mini-montage, that's the full montage. The Prosperity Montage only lasts, like, five or six seconds as they read a couple of sentences about the super-duper growth numbers meaning that we're all rich.
I'll keep looking for the clip.
Ah. Hello again, old chum.

The hours approaching, to give it your best
You've got to reach your prime.
Thats when you need to put yourself to the test
And show us a passage of time
Were going to need a montage (montage)
Ooh it takes a montage (montage)
Sure a lot of things happing at once,
Remind everyone whats going on (whats going on)
And when every shot you show a little improvement
Just show it all or it will take to long
Thats called a montage (montage)
Ooh we want montage (montage)
And anything that we want to know
From just a beginner to a pro,
You want a montage (montage)
Even rocky had a montage (montage)
(Montage...montage)
Anything that we want to know
From just a beginner to a pro,
You need a montage (montage)
Ooh it takes a montage (montage)
Always fade out in a montage,
If you fade out
It seem like more time has passed in a montage
Montage

The rolling printing presses and the notes counting machine were part of a montage used on Fox News, can't remember whether it was Bret Baier's program or Bill O'Reilly, I was busy with something else at the time and looked up to see it.
It just goes to show that some media memes are now hard wired and have become cliches. So much for the much vaunted media practioners' creativity, j-schools are worthless turning out journalist less capable than the newsrooms of old where you started at sixteen and worked your way up to an editorship.

Considering the dollar is worth a dime, ok 12 cents, from before, crank those printing presses. We can all feel good about the pretty, green paper.
This will not end well.

They already jumped the shark they simply do not care anymore. They figure for good reason around 35% of the country can be spun anyway they want. Sad thing is they are right.
I live in a community with a concentration of Slavic immigrants. We joke that MSNBC and CNN now are like Pravda and Izvestia were then.
What a strange world when the english-language versions of Pravda online now have better news than the LameSM of the USA. It is as if the roles have reversed.

I do not understand how all the disparate reports about job losses, more housing market woes, the start (continuation) of the commercial real estate market woes, the drops in retails sales all add up to everything is better now.
I guess they assume, and probably rightly, that most Americans are not paying attention and putting 2 and 2 together. Or, they are hoping that they can convince America, finally, that 2+2 = 5.

Housing, for sale signs.
Details, please. Was the cameraman holding his camera on his shoulder or down at knee level? Was the For Sale sign on a lush green, well-tended lawn, or was it yellowish-green and spotty?
If it's the former for each, then the visuals convey the American dream of home ownership -- that is, you the viewer are the potential buyer. The latter mean you're the frustrated would-be seller, unable to sell your house for what little cash you might get for it but which you're desperate for.

Part of me thinks its just fine for the economic illiterates to convince themselves that all is well and jump right back into the equities markets and ignore looming inflation and dollar devaluation. Might cause hard asset prices to fall (thinking gold) a bit and become even more profitable in the coming couple of years.
In other words, I'm trying to think of ways to profit from the 52%'ers that brought us Carter II, rather than just shake my head ruefully. Are others thinking similar thoughts, and if so, where are the real profit centers going to be in the next couple of years, given the anti-growth and inflationary policies of this Administration?

I think the gold train has already left the station two years ago. When Pelosi and Reid took over in late 2006, we should have jumped on it then.
What to buy? Real Estate. Yes, the Affirmative Action Lending Subprime bubble is still deflating, but that's almost over, and Real Estate is still a hard asset.

And what "gains" the Dow has had are in devalued currency. Sure, stocks go "up" in dollars per share when the dollar turns into mush.

The problem is that the government will be extending Cash 4 Home Clunkers out beyond its original expiration date, and will now include second-time buyers as well. In other words, by this action they are showing that the housing market will act like the auto industry once the Chinese-bought debt spigot stops flowing--pulled-forward demand followed by a huge drop in sales.
Government money is the only thing preventing real estate prices from falling to their appropriate market levels right now, and thus preventing banks from being shut down and sold off like they should be. Fortunately, as we saw last year, they can't pull this Ponzi scheme off forever, and the public will be in torch-and-pitchfork mode if banks get any more huge bailouts. There's already a lot of rumbling about GMAC, and relatively speaking, their bailout is not nearly as high as the Big 4 or 5 recieved from TARP.

Bingo--the Dow's been acting in inverse proportion to the DXY for roughly the last year now; it's so obvious even Jon Stewart commented on this in one of his segments recently.
Dollar is up to 76.3 right now, incidentally--I wonder if Bernanke will get pulled out of a meeting to give it a Hulk Hogan leg drop this afternoon?

That is a very good point. I guess timing will be key. The undeniable trend is still good for Real Estate, as Jimmuh Carter in mulattoface (I denounce myself n advance, so you don't have to) sets off a wave of inflation and paper assets turn into excrement.

Good point--I guess owning a 65-acre spread in Idaho (with plenty of ammo stocks, of course) would be a wise investment in such a scenario.
