— Gabriel Malor Okay, just how gullible are the Obama people? They're afraid that Clinton supporters are going to create an embarrassing ruckus at the convention. Tantrums, kazoos, creme pies, the usual. Understandable. But, their solution is to work with the Clinton campaign to give out floor passes to even more Clinton supporters who pinky swear to keep her delegates on their best behavior.
Uh huh. Like a babe to the slaughter.
Clinton spokesperson Kathleen Strand emphasized the team would not seek to convince delegates to vote for the former first lady, but would hand out Clinton signs to supporters who requested them."We have been and are working closely with the Obama campaign to make sure we have an exciting and unified convention," Strand said. "Our delegate whips, along with the Obama delegate whips, are a part of a team that will be on the floor of the convention to make sure delegates have everything they need, whether thats answering questions or passing out signs during Hillary's speech. The whips are a traditional part of every convention's floor operations."
That last part is true, though there aren't usually two separate (competing?) teams. For reasons passing understanding, the Obama people are still trying to push the idea that the party is united behind one candidate. I suppose there must be one or two idiots left who actually believe that and who will be fooled when the guys with Obama signs frantically push their way between Clinton supporters and the cameras. The fact that Obama is giving instructions to screen Clinton supporters from media attention reveals just how worried he is.

Obama's people are idiots. They really are going to Recreate '68.
Obama is caving in the polls, Hillary is stepping on the gas and pointing the front end right at him and he's standing there like Bambi frozen in the headlights. The guy is road kill.

God I hope Our Girl is as Machiavellian as I *think* she is and does not take the VP Ticket; waiting instead for 2012. She must know Obama reeks of failure at this point.
I'm sure there's a lot of pressure behind the scenes for a shotgun wedding between these two.

What else could she want?
Hillary can't win if she kicks Obama to the back of the ticket. Too much bad blood. She's to the right of Obama, and will lose more of the base than he did. Not running is a lot better than losing, especially when her huge meme throughout the election was that only she can win. If she loses this year, she will never be a factor again. If she doesn't run and Obama loses, then she looks wise and prescient.
She might want some money for her debts, but Obama and the DNC are in a money crisis (Obama spent more than he took in last month as Mccain took over the polls, and the DNC can't raise much money since Obama is raising it all).
I think she will make a huge show of how powerful she is, and how she's not really the loser of the primary so much as a victim of circumstance (bullshit, I know). She will argue that she won the popular vote, and her pals will mumble that had we known about Wright and such in February Obama would have been toast. Then she will 'gracefully' give a speech talking about how the party has to unify, and will superficially give the nod to Obama. She will be lionized, Obama will lose, and she will be serving crow to her moron party.

"Whips?" How can Hillary! get away with using that obviously racist term in these enlightened days? Her staff might as well call her enforcers "nooses."

Hillary is letting everyone know that she was the best candidate, and that her base chose expediency.
THIS is a one term presidency!
So, in 4 years, Hillary will come back, and do the same inEVITAble game she did this time, only, next time she will have proof, and her supporters, wither their signs at the convention, will just be a photo op to bring in the base to show how stupid they are.
Maybe she's sabotaging Obama, so she can follow up on McCains shitty 4 years, rather than opposing an unpopular incumbant, but Hillary Most DEF does not want anything to do with obama directly.

I have to believe that this is behind the hush-hush-hush security around his VP nomination. I am guessing that he has had a few refusals and is hiding that fact. It would only add to his impending doom.

But before anyone on this side of the aisle starts cheering this prospect, consider that Hill surely knows that even if she could bribe enough superdelegates to steal the nomination, she'd lose so many Obama voters that she'd lose in November. So that's out. Instead, Hill has one near-certain path to the presidency: Be seen as supporting Obama fully, placing party loyalty above personal ambition.
She'll then have her loyalists talk up the story, ensuring that the MSM runs with it for days: Hill the loyal Democrat, etc. Then *if* Obie loses in November, she'd have a lock on both the nomination and the general election in 2012.
This has to be obvious to her and her strategists. Thus I predict that instead of rancor in Denver, the networks will show viewers what appears to be total, unstinting support and fawning praise for the Chosen One. Yes, there'll be pro-Hillary demonstrations on the floor, since the Hillary team needs to give supporters some air-time to keep 'em energized. But when the alotted time ends, there'll be gushing rounds of hugs and kisses at the top, and a lot of this will spread to the delegates as well. The MSM will report the outcome as complete and total support by Hillary, and party unity.
This image will encourage many angry Hill supporters to vote for Obie instead of defecting to McCain, and if Obie loses in November it will be used to counter claims by Obie supporters that Hillary sabotaged their boy candidate.
The only wild card I see would be if Hillary could be convinced to accept the veep slot. This would almost guarantee a Dem victory in November, but would make it unlikely that Hill would get the top slot in 2016. But there's a small chance that she could be convinced to put the good of her party above her own desires.
Just kidding.

Well, he may want to win badly enough to make her VP. As much as I don't want that to happen, it might work.

The VP will be Hillary. Any other choice and BO can't win.
It will be enough to satisfy enough of the HilBots. Some will remain bitter that she wasn't at the top of the ticket (she does have marginally more "experience" than Obama does), but enough of them will be OK with "first woman VP in American History" to pull the lever for BO.
Putting on my tinfoil hat, I think this is all a massive headfake designed to get the Hilbots and wobblies all worked up - only to be releived and assuaged at the announcement at the convention that yes, Virginia, HilDawg is on the ticket. These are Democrats - manipulation, back-room dealing, calculation, playing on emotions, etc. are all halmarks of Democrat political operations. This is no different.
If I were a betting man, I'd bet that all this "drama" is fake and an attempt to elevate the "unity" angle that would be acheived on such a ticket. I'd even go so far as to say that team HilDawg and Team Capt. BS have an either informal agreement with each other or have communicated about this beforehand - play the game until the convention, then go for the big win with the "dream ticket" that the MSM, Democrats and whoever else is clamoring for. It's a strategy, not party disunity.
Mark my words.
If not, then we win.
And the Donks have to know this.

They're leaving $millions on the table not making their convention pay-per-view. I'd shell out plenty to see the goings on in the convention center and outside, especially the "free-speech-zones".
I have the one scenario that I think could actually make this election funnier.
Imagine, Obama! going to the stadium to give his Sermon on the Mound with all due fanfare and O!-mage.
Meanwhile, back in the convention hall, Hillary pushes her vote through. As Obama! is orating to the masses, Hillary is winning the vote. The split screen view would be hysterical (in at least 2 or 3 senses of the word), especially as CNNABCCBSNBCMSNBCetc. get stuck in a logical paradox of Harry K Mudd proportions.
On the one hand, that's their messiah getting hosed, on the other, don't mess with Clintons when they're not down and besides, there are Dems to elect.
Orville Redenbacher is going to run out of popcorn before this is over.

Well, I think they just want to win so badly, and the media wants the Democraps to win so badly, that the long term doesn't matter to them at this point. It's an afterthought to be hammered out after they seize all of three branches of government.
You know - there will be constant media reporting, spurred on by an onslaught of Democrat propaganda - about the "successes" of the Democrat when they're in charge. Gotta contrast it with the BushHitler years, right? Of course, it will be nothing more than steaming loads of Clintonesque/Obamaesque BS like the 1990's, but it will be on a far greater scal and a screeching intensity.
Remember their goal: POWER. It's the end in itself that they're working towards. Anything else is an afterthought, because once they're in power, they figure that you won't be able to do anything about it anyway, and the MSM will go right along with them, essentially turning into the Democrats' daily PR machine for the duration.
We'll see.
Of course, if HilDawg seriously wants to be feisty and challenge Captain Bullshit for the top of the ticket with no alternative for the VP spot if she loses, then they lose.
This is the only way I can see the Democrat pulling off the (short-term) win this fall.
Long term? Eh - let's sweep the elections first, then we'll worry about the long-term future. Ya dig?
That's my 2 cents, and I'm sticking with it :-)

"Listen, we appreciate that you want to help keep this convention sane. Your candidate ran a good race, she lost, and she's been pretty stand-up about it since."
"But you have to understand our situation, too--we're afraid of you guys inciting your hag battalions while The One is burning a hole in the Pepsi Center roof with his heavenward gaze. We think you're here to crash the party. We have doubts. If you were in our position, you'd feel the same way."
"So we're going to ask you--well, actually, we're going to insist--that each Hillary trustee wear one of these metallic, explosive-laden collars. We'll have minders in the loge boxes keeping...well, keepin' it real, if you know what I mean..."

Im not so sure Hillary on the ticket wins it for the donks
When has a vp pick swayed substantial numbers of undecideds?
People go into the booth and look at the guy at the top, and any way you slice it, its still an inexperienced, waffling, weak on defense pretty boy.
Plus- Hills "favorables" have always been overhyped. All of her dirty laundry wasnt touched in the primaries. All of it comes out if she gets the VP nod and that will be poison to the candidate of change n hope n stuff.
All that said, we'll probably lose.
