— Ace 34%.
The latest CBS News poll finds President Bush's approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 34 percent, while pessimism about the Iraq war has risen to a new high.Americans are also overwhelmingly opposed to the Bush-backed deal giving a Dubai-owned company operational control over six major U.S. ports. Seven in 10 Americans, including 58 percent of Republicans, say they're opposed to the agreement.
Let's assume that CBS oversampled Democrats.
That's still not good, is it?
Maybe I'm just glum, but if you were polled as to whether you support the President's job peformance, would you say you did?
I don't know if I would. I think I'd pass on the question.

UNWEIGHTED WEIGHTED
Total Respondents 1018
Total Republicans 272 289
Total Democrats 409 381
Total Independents 337 348
Democrats were oversampled by ~30% compared to Republicans That's just ridiculous.
I don't know what the breakdown is in the general population, but I'll bet my left testicle that there are not 30% more D's than R's.
The media gets more brazen every day.

In the newsroom where I work (forgive me for not saying where), using polls as any sort of significant lead story is expressly verboten (that's German for "forbidden", for you annoying troll types)... it's a chickenshit way of creating news out of non-news. And lest you wonder, I work in an MSM newsroom.
Polls are notoriously inaccurate and usually leading, even when they come from my beloved Wall Street Journal.
So there (or something).

Frankly, I'm a lot more unhappy with the GOP voters than I am with Bush. As a politician and speech maker Bush is average at best. As a leader with firm resolve who has delivered a real legacy, a Supreme Court that will be felt for a generation, the first president in my life time who has had that nuts to actually take on Islamic fundamentalism, an economy that if not spectacular is very solid, growing and not built on a false VC backed myth and a leader who cares more about actually doing right for the country more than his legacy, Bush has delivered.
Sure there have been mistakes. We elected a president not a god. Just don't go wobbly George.

Overall performance? Yes. Just talking about border security? No.
Incidentally there could be a silver lining but it would take some balls and some vision - DP World or whatever their name is has been found to be participating in boycotts I believe of Danish and/or Israeli products and services, which I believe is illegal under US law - make them publicly, formally renounce these and all future such boycotts that are not in line with US policy, and then let them have their paper ownership.
Bush gets his way, while saying "this deal has allowed us to drive a wedge in the former unanimity of muslim embargoes - see, diplomacy gets results". Guarantee you his approval would ratchet up at least 10-15% on that alone (more on an evenly sampled polling population).
Posted by: Scott at February 28, 2006 05:29 AM (f8958)
Secondly, Bush approval isn't going anywhere. I know that the hardcore Republicans represented in these comments will go down with the Bush ship, but most moderates in this country see the error of our thinking on Bush.

MIKE'S been telling you this guy was an idiot for quite some time, and it appears the public is finally catching up.
Isn't it time you dolts yank your heads out of Bush's ass, too?
1.President Bush's approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 34 percent.
2.Pessimism about the Iraq war has risen to a new high.
3.Americans are also overwhelmingly opposed to the Bush-backed deal giving a Dubai-owned company operational control over six major U.S. ports.
4.The Coast Guard had concerns about the ports deal, a disclosure that is no doubt troubling to a president who assured Americans there was no security risk from the deal.
5.In a separate poll, two out of three Americans said they do not think President Bush has responded adequately to the needs of Katrina victims.
6.Mr. Bush's overall job rating has fallen to 34 percent, down from 42 percent last month.
7.Fifty-nine percent disapprove of the job the president is doing.
8.Most Americans say the president does not care much about people like themselves. Fifty-one percent now think he doesn't care, compared to 47 percent last fall.
9.Just 30 percent approve of how Mr. Bush is handling the Iraq war, another all-time low.
10.By two to one, the poll finds Americans think U.S. efforts to bring stability to Iraq are going badly – the worst assessment yet of progress in Iraq.
11.Half of Americans say they disapprove of how he's handling the war on terror, while 43 percent approve.

Whenever someone posts statistics, opinions or polls, reflecting a thorough distaste for the administration's policies, actions and behavior...it's called "spamming."
Like I said a hundred times before: Isn't it about time you drag those pointy little heads out of Bush's ass ...and think like a real American...instead of whining and bitching about postings you don't have the guts to accept as reality?
This will prove to be one of the very worst and corrupt presdents in our nation's history, and whether you have the balls to admit it or not...things aren't going to get any better while he's running the show.
He's destroying our country while you suck-asses continue to support the prick.
Sad indeed.

MIKE'S been telling you
Mike and your idiot cohorts have been telling us a lot of things;
1. We can't win in Afghanistan, just look at the Russians and Britons.
2. There will be millions of Afghan refugees that will die in the winter
3. We will lose tens of thousands in the battle for Baghdad.
4. We will not meet the deadline to transition the government back to the Iraqis
5. We will not be able to have the Iraqis draft a constitution
6. The Iraqis will not be able to have an election because of the violence.
7. The Iraqis will not be able to have a second election because of the violence.
8. We will need at least 10,000 bodybags for New Orleans
9. We will surely enter an economic turndown because of the hurricanes.
10. John Roberts is extreme and should not be on the Court.
11. Sam Alito is extreme and should not be on the Court.
12. People will freeze because oil will reach 80 dollars a barrel
13. The stock market will drop.
14. Unemployment will rise.
15. The Democrats will win the 2002 midterm elections. The Democrats will win the 2004 elections. One more time, the Democrats will win the 2006 elections.
Posted by: roc ingersol at February 28, 2006 09:54 AM (m2CN7)
Not me. We've got more guns.
16. Global warming will get worse, much worse. Really really worser.
17. My dog is going to develop a rash that looks like Florida.
18. I will step in cat vomit sometime before the 06 elections.
19. The IRS is going to audit me. For each of the last 10 years.
20. I didn't keep my receipts.
21. Oh crap.

Bush's 2005 National Energy Policy Act, finally pushed through after the Dems stalled it for 4 years.
The NCLB program, and I'm not sure I'm happy with the 57% increase in education spending, but I'll bet the libs are.
That somebody finally tried to do something about Social Security.
That Bush didn't hesitate to depose the Taliban.
That Bush invaded Iraq and has refused to consider leaving before the mission is done.
That he appointed Condoleeza Rice as Sec. of State, and that it was the right choice.
That he's overseen a 32% increase in military pay since his inauguration.
That he signed the anti-spam act and the anti-class action lawsuit act.
That he cut taxes.
There's a few things off the top of my head. There are, of course, many things I don't like about Bush. But there's your list Mike - happy?
