Now it turns out some heretics scientists are actually considering the possibility that the Sun has an impact on temperatures here. And what they are seeing isn't what the Global Warming cultists want to here.
The sun has reached a milestone not seen for nearly 100 years: an entire month has passed without a single visible sunspot being noted. The event is significant as many climatologists now believe solar magnetic activity which determines the number of sunspots -- is an influencing factor for climate on earth.
According to data from Mount Wilson Observatory, UCLA, more than an entire month has passed without a spot. The last time such an event occurred was June of 1913. Sunspot data has been collected since 1749.
...In the past 1000 years, three previous such events -- the Dalton, Maunder, and Spörer Minimums, have all led to rapid cooling. One was large enough to be called a "mini ice age". For a society dependent on agriculture, cold is more damaging than heat. The growing season shortens, yields drop, and the occurrence of crop-destroying frosts increases.
As the article explains this activity, or lack thereof, was predicted in a paper 3 years ago but the paper was rejected by the journal Science as being too controversial. As you know, the science is settled. Except when it isn't.
Now do I think this finding and this phenomena settles anything? No. But it does seem that before we go off and destroy our economy in the name of stopping Global Warming, we should be pretty damn sure we know what we are talking about. I don't think anybody but a true believer would think otherwise.
In keeping with Palinmania...remember she isn't a cultist.
UPDATE: Whoops. Ace already posted it so it's old. But content has been moving pretty fast and furious around here so I'll leave it up because it might be new to some. Check out Ace's post as well if you missed it the first time since his has teh funny in it.

In 18 minutes, Google launches a new browser.

Now the problem is, will we be ready for the coming cold spell. When we should have been building more power plants, this country has slowed down the building of power plants and are trying to stop all coal power plants.
When we run out of power, it will take years to catch up, and while the same people who wanted us to worry about global warming will be same ones asking why the power company let us run out of power.

We're running out of solar energy!
Since the wind is effected by the sun, this means wind power is affected too!
We're all gonna die!

You can download Google Chrome now, the new browser which runs each tab in a sandbox, independent child of a parent, so one bad tab doesn't crash the whole browser, and you can restore the tab to a pre-crash state.
It doesn't give your PC any permissions over the rendering engine.
And I could go on.
YOU REALLY should get on this and get the browser! I'll tell you how AoSHQ looks in it.
I've never been there at the launch of a new browser before. I started my download seconds before the official announcement. I'm so excited.
This could be the greatest day in web browser history.

Anyone else think Christoph needs to get out just a teensy bit more?

If that criticism is coming from a Moron, well, you know that it's got to be true.

I don't know how much Google is paying you but you might want to consider partnering up with Chinese Google Spambot. That guy knows how to move volume. In Chinese, so you don't know what the hell he's saying, but volumes. And I hear by word of grapevine he actually writes wonderful prosaic adcopy. The kind of marketing tag lines that not only make you cry, but shit your pants in joy they're so beautiful and moving.
Also, he, like you, is comfortable being under close supervision with everything he does online. So he should have no problems with Google. Maybe a bit less privacy then the PRC allows, but not much.
But hey, google just wants to sell ads targeted to you! Not put you in prison for having the WRONG KIND of political thoughts....yet, anyway.

This is so fucking old, I mentioned it over a year ago...
How does the Farmers Almanac predict weather?
Over the years, we have refined and enhanced that formula with state-of-the-art technology and modern scientific calculations. We employ three scientific disciplines to make our long-range predictions: solar science, the study of sunspots and other solar activity; climatology, the study of prevailing weather patterns; and meteorology, the study of the atmosphere. We predict weather trends and events by comparing solar patterns and historical weather conditions with current solar activity.

Christoph,
There is no way I'm switching browsers unless Chrome has a sure fire way of hiding all of my porn links from the wife.
