— Gabriel Malor Via Hot Air headlines, the Democratic race war continues. Some Obama supporters are not too keen for black superdelegates who have announced support for Clinton:
African-American superdelegates are being targeted, harassed and threatened, said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II (D-Mo.), a superdelegate who has supported Clinton since August. Cleaver said black superdelegates are receiving nasty letters, phone calls, threats theyll get an opponent, being called an Uncle Tom.This is the politics of the 1950s, he complained. A lot of members are experiencing a lot of ugly stuff. Theyre not going to talk about it, but its happening.
People calling "Uncle Tom"? Democrats? I find that hard to believe.

Gabe, just to move the discussion along a bit, if she stays in, does she continue to take shots at Obama? I'm thinking that she'd scorch the earth for him... y'know, the "if I can't be president, nobody can" mentality?

Part of what we're seeing is that it is not Mark Penn's or Maggie Williams' job to worry about Clinton's future in politics or the future of the Democratic Party. They were hired to do one thing: make Clinton president. And I expect that they will burn the party to the ground to achieve that objective, the whole time saying, "I'm just doing my job, ma'am."
If Clinton had more of a hand in her campaign decisions, I suspect there would be a much greater check on the more destructive impulses of her staffers. But it appears that she long ago ceded control to her "specialist," Penn.

Ah, identity politics ...
Reminds me of when an aide to the then-Mayor of DC started a brouhaha by decrying Congress for their "niggardly" funding of a Distict of Columbia government program.
Of course, niggardly has a completely different etymology from the N-word, but that didn't stop the usual suspects from baying for his head on a platter, and it was given to them.
Except the fellow in question was gay, and so the Dupont Circle crowd howled for appeasement. It went downhill from there.
As Malor points out, it is highly entertaining reality that leaves reality TV looking pale and wanting.

TRUTH IS, THERE WAS SPECULATION HE MIGHT GO. THE FACT THAT HE HAD ACTUALLY DEPLOYED WAS KEPT SECRET.
BUT OF COURSE I MUST BE MISTAKEN... BECAUSE IF ONE OF BUSH'S DAUGHTERS WAS ENLISTED IN IRAQ AND THAT FACT WAS KEPT SECRET, AND THE UK GUARDIAN BROKE THE STORY, I'M ***SURE*** EVERYONE HERE WOULD SAY "HEY, THEY'RE A SOVEREIGN COUNTRY WITH THEIR OWN RULES! NOT A BIG DEAL!"

Drudge is a douche bag for terrorists. What part of we - America, Britain, France, Canada, Australia and the rest of the lot are in this together in Afghanistan? What part of our bravest and most able are over there to protect us and our rights?!?
What part of this is a moral & just war between tolitarians (Taliban) and (mostly) libertarians (US)?!? A war that started in 1993 with the first bombing of the World Trade Center and accelerated after the murder of 2,997 people on 9/11, 52 people on 7/7 and 32 people on 4/16?!?
Frankly, we Yanks take our coalitions for granted. Try telling that to some of these guys. Or Prince Harry.
Oh and Drudge, thanks so much you dishonorable (expletive). You have no honor whatsoever. Unlike you, I have secrets that happened to get into my hands by loose lips and if made public could prompt terrorists to kill thousands of my fellow citizens - and Im taking them to my grave. You and your fellow leakers are just as patriotic as Huffington Post & Daily Kos commentators - you just want freedom to play with with none of the responsibility.
As I am want to believe, liberty is a codeword for responsibility. Get with the program!

I had a dream about Barack Obama. I was watching Obama give a speech. It felt so good, so hypnotic. He was so beautiful and he spoke like an angel. I remember wondering if I was actually floating in the middle of the air. Have you ever had one of those dreams where you are having a conversation of such surpassing brilliance and insight that you want to remember every single speck of memory from the dream so you can write it down when you do actually wake up? This was one of those dreams. Every idea, every word, every phrase, every syllable that came out of his mouth was so perfect, so absolutely appropriate and energizing, that I knew I was giggling and couldnt help it. I was surrounded by thousands who were, like me, giggling, half-floating, transfixed by the wise one, Obama. When the speech was over everyone in the dream clapped and we all tossed our shouts of approval at the great man, like so much confetti at a ticker-tape-parade for returning war heroes. Obama smiled his wide smile and waved his kindly hand at us in a gesture of heart-felt affection, then left the stage. In my dream as I tried to write down the gist of his speech I couldnt remember what he said. It was something like Change, blah blah blah, and Yes we can, blah blah blah, and Not red states and blue states, but United States, blah blah blah. Everything kind of floated away, all airy and insubstantial as is the way of all dreams. Then I dreamed that I had to use the restroom. I woke up.
When I woke up, I was sitting in my armchair watching the end of an Obama speech on TV. I wasnt asleep. And I hadnt been dreaming.
As I went to the restroom I still couldnt remember what Obama had said. The rhetorical brilliance and insight, blah blah blah, disappeared with the last shreds of the dream that wasnt a dream and then the hypnotic afterglow was flushed away to be gone forever.

Actually you must've missed the entire point of this thread. We're getting wrapped up in -your- hate politics. It's not "our politics" calling people Uncle Toms.
"IF HUFFPO HAD DONE THIS, THE WINGERS WOULD BE WHIPPING THEMSELVES INTO A FROTH, SCREAMING FROM THE RAFTERS, "WHY DO THEY HATE AMERICA SO MUCH!?""
Uh, no. We might wonder why they hate Great Britain so much, but not really seeing what America has to do with it. Though we do realize you all pretty much hate Western Civilization altogether, America just usually gets special attention for being on top of it. So it's not really a surprise.
And actually, no we wouldn't anyway. You might think it was "speculation" that Prince Harry was over there and not reported as fact, but that's not how I recall it. If you'd asked me prior to reading this, "Is Harry 'over there'?" I would've said yes, read about it a few months ago.
That said, I really don't think it's a big deal if they're saying "Prince Harry is in Afghanistan". That doesn't narrow it down all that much. If they're giving more information than that, like where to actually find him and whatnot, then yeah, that sucks and shame on Drudge for doing it. That's not the impression I'm getting though, it sounds to me like they just said he's in Afghanistan and what he -had- been doing. Not -that- big a deal. I don't see how it really endangers him. Giving away actual current troop movements is something else - has that been done here?

I have a British friend who is absolutely pissed at Drudge for breaking the story and I feel the same way. There was a gentleman's agreement to hold the story and publish it only after he returned from his tour. CNN and other US news agencies agreed to it, in return for interview access and whatnot, so kudos to them for extending that courtesy.
I think Drudge fcuked up. He did it to get another world exclusive.
There was no reason to break it now, in the middle of his tour of breaking Taliban bitches, other than to score the first headline. So yeah, this is one wingnut saying Drudge acted like a fcuknugget for doing that.

Though I don't agree with what he did, I heard on the news that Andy was due to come home in April. So, I wouldn't call it "the middle of his tour." Also, anybody who thought about it for two seconds knew he was in Afghanistan. The taliban had to know, too.

This is democrat politics ever since there's been democrats. I grew up in the shadow of the Corning machine in Albany. Anyone who didn't vote the "right way" never got a building permit, was constantly visited by code enforcement looking for a single chip of peeling paint somewhere, and never had their street plowed in the winter.
It still works the same way today in Albany.

I saw an interesting take on the Drudge deal, I forget where.
The story was out, the British might have missed it because it was in some obscure papers, but some terrorists might have noticed it so his cover could have been blown without the Brits knowing.
So Drudge actually performed a valuable service.
That's interesting, I don't know if I agree, but I see the merits.
Oh, and PA, I have a friend in Albany who, every two years in December and January, starts getting mail for the previous owner of his house. That owner is, you guessed it, dead.
