I think they tried that already ... didn't work out too well for them.

You've got to wonder how long it's going to be before the new Iraqi military and police have their personnel and equipment sufficiently together to go on a massive assault against anyone who even looks at them funny. If these insurgents believe Iraq should have a brutal repressive regime, they might get one just long enough to make them realize that sort of thing is only good when it's YOUR brutal repressive regime.

My own opinion is BL is getting worried about the carnage that Zarqawi is unleashing on the Iraqis and how thats creating a P.R. problem for the jihadists in the Muslim world. It would seem the 'hearts and minds' of the Arab street are increasing being enticed by the lure of liberty and the continued Muslim on Muslim terror wave is accelerating that process.

And in the 'ok, i'm a knucklehead' department I just read the Arab Street post and how nobody says that anymore...DOH!
But you get my drift anyway, right?

One would hope the Iraqis would finally catch on that it is not a good idea to mass hundreds of police, soldiers, or recruits. They keep repeating the mistake of swarming them for physicals, pay, sending dozens out unarmed on buses.
Hello, you turbaned rocket scientists!
Disburse your guys at at least 20 foot intervals when waiting for pay, medical attention, or other queques. That way a car bomb only gets 3 to a dozen, not 130.
And by all means give your soldiers on those bus trips out of towns an AK-47 with 30 rounds in the clip. That way it makes it harder for 4 thugs to line 30 guys up and dispatch them like cattle with a couple of 9 mms or Makarovs.

Unfortunately, nowhere does it say that Bin Ladin is telling Zarqawi to give up in Iraq. He's just telling him that he should also try hitting the US while he's in the fightin' mood. One good possibility to come from it though is that it seems that Bin Ladin can't hit us himself anymore so is trying to get his new found allies to do it for him. Maybe we really do have him bottled up somewhere. In sha allah, right?

Whatever happened to all the stories we were told about how the Iraqi could not kill/fight against fellow Muslims? Does that only apply to certain Muslims? It does not seem to hinder Bin Laden.

Is it possible that Bin Laden is hoping to revive muslim sympathy by saying he's all for violence against infidels (who's not?!) and less so for violence against muslim heretics? (There's plenty of time for that later!)

I winced during the State of the Union speech when W said: "we're fighting the terrorists over there so we don't have to fight them over here." Ture as it is, it appears likely that it's only a matter of time before they strike again in the US, and Liberals will have field day repeating his words. Let's all pray it doesn't happen again any time.
