Atrios Steals My "Cowbell" Schtick

Raising money for some candidate, he uses the "more cowbell" to indicate money flowing in.

Hmmmm... where have I seen that before?

So, between six thousand open threads, he occasionally includes some "original content," which he found someplace else.

Millions of readers a month. Sheesh.

4 Actually, Atrios is *at least* sloppy fourths, since ESPN's Bill Simmons adopted "More Cowbell" as the name of his blog after (but not because of) Ace.

And I believe Simmons may have more readers than both Ace *and* Atrios.

7 Well, yeah, I didn't write or perform in the bit. I'm just saying I began using the catchphrases for a different context, which Atrios has swiped.

I guess it wouldn't be worth mentioning, except that some idiot at Firedoglake accused me of "stealing Atrios' intellectual property" for copying his thousand Open Threads.

I don't think you should covet the numbers over at Atrios' place. Democrats need somewhere to go where they can learn what to think. And so, liberal websites are always going to have higher numbers.

Consider your numbers to be a testament to the individual, highly intellectual nature of your audience.

11 Surely so many people would be good for financial reasons, but I like this site because it isn't inundated by millions of commenting people every day. I loved LGF, but it became inconvenient to commont. My pithy words got lost in the torrential sea of comments.

15 Atrios did not invent open threads. And Ace started doing open threads in mockery of Atrios. Although useful, they pretty much still are. I laugh every time I see one. I laugh about how little Atrios has to work for the herd to show up. Pathetic. And I laugh a little about how hard Ace and others who appeal to the thinking set have to work to gain an audience--not at them but at what it represents.

Here's the difference. Pay close attention: Cowbell as a good news siren is purely Ace's schtick.

No, I don't expect you to see the difference. I do expect you to filter your perception of inconvenient data so that reality isn't a bother.
