Arrogant Gaffe Machine Strikes Again
— Gabriel Malor

This time from a campaign spokesman:

At a morning background briefing, reporters parried with senior advisers on the characterization of Obama’s speech Thursday in Berlin as a campaign rally. The outdoor speech at the Victory Column could draw thousands of people, similar to the size of Obama events in the United States.

"It is not going to be a political speech," said a senior foreign policy adviser, who spoke to reporters on background. "When the president of the United States goes and gives a speech, it is not a political speech or a political rally."

"But he is not president of the United States," a reporter reminded the adviser.

The whole campaign thinks that they've already won. From any other group of people it would be "stunning arrogance given the mistake-prone campaign, its inexperienced candidate, and his dropping poll numbers." But this is the magic Obama, so simple faith should do it. Clap if you believe.

1 It's obvious that Axlrod's strategy is just to assume the mantle of the Presidency.  I guess that's the best way around all those nasty truthful rumors that he's unqualified....right, Frito?

3 The only reason to relish the idea of a McCain victory is to watch these arrogant punks and their cult like followers wonder how the hell they lost.

4 This type of thinking killed Clinton.  It should be encouraged, that is when the campaign will make mistakes.

5 Drew, I know!  I can't wait to print up my 1-29-09 bumperstickers (or whatever date the countdown is to).  Something along the line of:
1-29-09 McCain:
Suck it, hippies

6 I think this is a disease that runs in the Dems campaigns.  Pope Al is still claiming that he won Florida in 2000 and John F'n Kerry (who was in Viet Nam) claims that Republican shenanigans in Ohio cost him the 2004 election.  I hope McCain wins just so we can see what arrogant excuses come out of Cap'n Bullshit's cult campaign.

The arrogance is inherited, but runs strong in this one.  Remember John F'n Kerry's bumper sticker.

John Kerry  ... President.

Not jk FOR president, mind you, just Name, Rank.  it was totally off the wall bullshit, but what do you expect.

Obama The Incapable

incapable of apology when proven wrong!

Where Truman stands head and shoulders above Obama:

"The Buck Stops Here" on Truman's Oval Office desk

"The Buck Stops Here" on Obama's bumper sticker.

13 Obama will win the German election in a landslide.
Those pesky American voters could well decide differently , though.

FTA, the subhead reads: Obama tries to dial down politics (!)

Sure, if you just start acting like you have already won, you don't need to bother with the messiness of a political campaign any more, do you?

The fact that Obama cannot find the time to debate his opponent in front of Americans, but has the time to make speeches to the people of other countries, is a perfect example of this tactic - one that can only be pulled off with the connivance of the media

If any Republican tried this, they would be savaged on every newscast, every frontpage, and on every Saturday Night.  It would end up destroying their campaign and smearing their character, eagerly facilitated at every step by the media.

16 Perhaps Lightworker McGuiltwhite has gone to Germany on a dry run, before he ascends to his destiny as World Messiah. Those Germans have a little bit of history regarding cults of personality, so why not test his godlike abilities upon them?

He is our future, he cannot be denied. Let's go get fitted for our collars.

17 The arrogance of these guys is breathtaking.  If they had any sense, they'd be scared to death.  Bam Bam has everything going for him.  The press is so in his pocket that they are running out of adjectives to describe how wonderful he is, the NYT is shutting McCain out, McCain has so infuriated his base that many won't vote for him, and McCain is too big a wimp to fight back and yet the best Bam Bam can do is to tie McCain in the polls.  And given that Democrats always over poll and that many are too intimidated to answer the pollsters truthfully for  fear that they will be associated with racist Nazis if they admit that they are not going to vote for Bam Bam, I'd say that the campaign was in real trouble, especially given Bam Bam's proclivity for gaffes.  Just what is it that Bam Bam is supposed to do to kick his campaign into high gear, anyway?

And yet the campaign has not only coronated him, they've got him re-elected for a second term.  And for half of a third term.

The important thing is that the rest of the world like us.

Avoiding politics and hard issues will endear Obama and the US to the Euros.

19 The whole campaign thinks that they've already won.

So does the press. When Obama - who continually poll much better than he actually ends up - is basically neck and neck with McCain even in their own polls. With the advantages Obama has he should be up by ten points, and he's not. That should worry them, but they're so caught up in the "everyone I know is voting for him" mentality they apparently haven't even noticed.

Ask Hillary how inEVITAbility works out.

20 That's the realization I have come too... this is just too overwhelming for McCain.  It's an election that is Obama's to loose.  He needs to really screw up bad... but the press will be there like King Kong making sure that each gaffe goes unnoticed, or be rationalized into something not important.  Never in my life time did I think that the press would be so over the top, biased.  They are not even pretending to hide their true feelings.  My only hope is that the "fly over" Americans see this for what it really is.

Obama considers it undignified for a sitting president to have to debate his challenger at plebian townhall style events.

Yeah, Obama is fucked.  He's got every possible liberal/euro/MSM wind at his back, and he's...

TIED.

In a dead fucking heat.  Using suspect polling that ALWAYS undercounts Repub support.

He's fucked.  Hell, even the Dukster was up big at this point.  As was Gore.  And possibly Kerry (I'm too lazy to check).

I'm sure he'll pull a "lead" of a few points after next month's convention, but then we hit the Repub convention and the debates, and he'll be getting too many flip-flop questions.

Flip-flops are death in Presidential elections.

The important thing is to have the rest of the world like us.

And step one is to trumpet union-pandering positions that piss off our major trading partners.  Step two?  Announce unilateral actions with batshit crazy regimes that want to wipe allies off the map.  Step three?  SOMEONE GET JACK BAUER ON THE PHONE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

24 FreakyBoy: "Avoiding politics and hard issues will endear Obama and the US to the Euros." Oh, sure. I just hope enough Americans realize that the Euros like their American presidents the way Democrats like their Republican presidents: Cringing, apologetic, and easily dissuaded from whatever they intend by the threat of their disapproval.
