Anti-McCain Ad From DU
— LauraW

This video is devastating to McCain.

I think it behooves us all to examine the substance of the Left's opposition to him as a candidate. No linkage for DU, but I did bite on the video embed from youtube:

This is what I have learned:

1.) John McCain is opposed to the legalization of medical marijuana

2.) John McCain takes Ambien "as needed during travel."

3.) McCain is oooold and can't handle pills, so if he gets elected he's going to have a dream one night that he is on Family Feud having a racist tantrum against the Obama family, and push the gameshow button, but in real life push 'The Button' and the whole Middle East will go up in flames and then Russia will send its nukes over here and we will all die in a fiery conflagration.

4.) The Left is largely populated with paranoid subretards who think that a candidate's stand on improving their access to some sweet cheeba is a litmus test for Presidential mettle.

Plenty of people who claim to be on the right who share this agenda.

10 Medical Marijuana? Why on Earth would these people want to turn this over to Public Health entities (whoever they are)? People are going to edge into political acceptance of the predominant culturally-unifying force in this country (well, second to music) through a pretense issue that will make controls even weirder and pragmatically no less draconian. If it were put to a plebiscite in terms of "Are you willing to accept controls as far as driving and mechanized or security-sensitive work go, and give up (crack down on) cocaine, heroin, meth, scale down psychotropic pharmaceuticals, and ween off booze in exchange for legalized marihuana and hemp-derived biomass fuels?"-- we would have a democratically arrived-at resolution of the issue. But medical marihuana? A pretext, a wedge-issue.

11 It's funny you've brought DU up, as I happened to go trolling through their forums today for a bit of a chuckle.  This particular post had me rolling:

"Senator Obama is the perfect foil/sabre to counter the smooth-thinking ex-KGB Colonel Vladimir Putin. Both men are strikingly similar in many respects: conversant on every issue, sensitive to the nuances of change, graceful, and absolutely iron fisted within a velvet glove. If Senator Obama was at the Olympics versus our current clown of a fuckstick of a President (and Obama would have been there for the opening ceremony only instead of playing grab ass with the athletes) I suspect that the Russians would have backed out of South Ossentia a lot sooner or not invaded at all."

Yes, I'm sure Putin fears and respects the "absolute iron fist" Obama will wield.

Ya know, they could've worked that angle effectively. Just needed to be witty, pithy and to the point. Fortunately for McCain those idiots think their every utterance is golden and can't see the difference between self-editing and censorship. Nobody except fellow travelers will watch more than 30 seconds before going "meh" and flipping the youtube channel.

Ronsonic, I stopped the video at the "family feud" reference. That's 1:36. The song was catchy enough and it does offer an anti-McCain argument. But only for a minute and a half. Which it then spoilt by reference to marijuana, race-baiting and other diversions from the point. Damned if I'm going to listen to another three minutes of this boring crap.

The authors don't need Ambien; they are Ambien. Zzzzzzz

17 "a candidate's stand on improving their access to some sweet cheeba is a litmus test for Presidential mettle." Don't count Ron Paul out, man. He has NOT released his delegates. We are in for some serious fireworks at the Excel Center. Mark my words!!! Or ... well ... we would be, but most of us spent our travel budget on some less-than-sweet mid-grade throat burner. It's the best we can do until we get the fascists out of Washington.

18 I made it as far as the part where McCain starts a nuclear war because he had a dream about the Family Feud.

I'm willing to be money that these retards actually think there's a big red button in the President's bedroom that can launch missiles.

Morons.

19 Apologies to Cheech and Chong....  not accepted. Have you ever had good African weed? I have had some excellent peyote from Arizona though.
Now if Obama was Jamaican it might be a different story.
BTW, that video is right on. I saw the same thing  the last time I dropped acid.

20 Oh, now I get it. Nuclear war and dozing off on ambien are bad. Getting high to wind down after work is good. OK. We've got that straight, I think. Still, some people don't worry about The Bomb. They've learned to love it.

Posted by: Reconciliationist at August 17, 2008 08:56 AM (mTbdr)

21 To the heads who insist on their weed for "pain and nausea", grab a job.
If the active ingredients in weed are really effective then they should be synthesized and  delivered in an safe form such as pills.
Smoking a drug has to be the single worst way to deliver a medicine.
The idea that a country that is spending billions to stamp out smoking would legalize smoking something in addition to tobacco is just ludicrous.
Smoking weed on a regular basis is far more deadly than smoking the same amount of tobacco. Why not just legalize smoking opium? It worked great for the British and Asians. You can grow poppy as easily as MJ.

The 85% of drug users who only use MJ is a bs figure too. That figure is for people who try drugs, not use. The percentage of people who are regular MJ users who use other drugs is much, much higher. I mean duh, they are drug users why would you stop just with MJ and not do some coke once in awhile?

26 Interesting views, but even though I am a candidate for vice president on the Loyal Party ticket, surveillance radio just revealed police openly bragging about murder and mentioning marijuana legalization as their justification for a kick-down-the-door raid. It was interesting because the justification is usually heresy. Anyway, smking marijuana is a social ritual. Maybe you have never been in a room where you share your marijuana with others. It's called "passing the joint." American life is too intense in this world-- where anyone born after 1955 knows that they are economically fucked and will remain economically fucked for the rest of their lives-- to get through the workweek without a drug of some kind, be it beers, booze, marihuana, speed, coke or crack. So what wrong with shifting the center of gravity off booze and cock and meth and crack and onto marijuana? Well, Crack didn't play out well when it came to funding the Black Budget. Maybe you would rather the CIA trick someone into blowing up a bunch of our cities so that the market among horribly burned people for morphine and heroin creates enough demand to fund the Black Budget? Trust me, it's an idea that's gotten farther than the drawing board.

40 Animals in the News David Cheskin, AP

That's "Sir" to you. Nils Olav, a 3-foot tall penguin, was awarded a knighthood by Norway on Friday. Here, Nils, who lives at the Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland, reviews the troops in Edinburgh after his knighthood. Britian has finally hit bottom.

41 They're more worried about being blown up by McCain or Reagan's ghost than Iran or any of those other cocksucking muslim terrorists.

But really, we all know that they're not really afraid of McCain pushing "the button." They're doing exactly what they accuse the Republicans of doing every single election cycle: playing the politics of fear.

Funny because it's the Democrats who are scaring people into thinking the fucking world is going to end from global warming. (Well, that's in the near future. In the meantime, you're all going to lose your jobs and homes.)

Oh, and don't forget that ALL OF YOUR CIVIL LIBERTIES ARE THREATENED by Republicans!!!!

50 So let's get the other argument out in the open here -- if you are opposed to legalizing marijuana, you are a hypocrite if you take any other drug under proper medical supervision.

That's like arguing that if you are opposed to polygamy, you are a hypocrite for being married to a single spouse.

But why should we expect any better reasoning from the Left -- they are all to stoned on ganja to think straight, anyway.

I bet they are hoping that Hawwaiian Barack Obama will release his secret stash of Maui Wowie on Inauguration day.

53 So who can't spell 'barbiturates'?  The SF Chronicle or the DUmmies? I know where my money is.

While I don't care if you smoke dope (as long as you have enough Twinkies in the house so you don't have to, like, dude, *drive* to get your junk food fix), my 40+ years of observing shows a strong correlation between smoking a lot dope and being really,  really stupid.  I don't know which way the causal arrow points, but the correlation is indisputable.

Posted by: monkeyfan at August 18, 2008 12:29 AM (cEE8N)

57 One of the problems is that too many people read polls that say a certain percentage of people want marijuana legalized and decide that, like themselves, it is a drop-dead issue for everyone else.  For the vast majority of people, legalizing marijuana is about 3,270th on their lists of important issues.  "Let's see.  I am adamantly opposed to abortion because I think it is murder.  But then again, Obama is in favor of me getting a little ganja at the corner 7-11.  I think I'll vote for Obama."

McCain taking a legal sleeping pill now and again makes him homicidal and apt to start nuclear war BUT smoking a spliff (which is a drug also you DUmba$$eS) makers you smart and peace loving?

Is anyone not just gobsmacked at how STUPID that is? How inconsistent? They need less of that spliff it seems to me.
