— Ace Obama's claim is that he is some transcendent -- and very centrist -- political figure who is not the typical big-city liberal pol.
He actually claims to have aided in the fight for welfare reform.
But he actually opposed welfare reform in 1997, while in the Illinois Senate.
Of course he did so in the typical way a politician opposes a popular measure: He claimed he was in favor of welfare reform in principle, but opposed the specific bill offered to actually advance it.
As usual, trying to have it both ways.
ABCNews actually reports this, although in a very soft-pedaled way -- they say it's a "move to the center," but it's actually a "move to dishonesty," as he's not simply changing his policies going forward but attempting to change stances he's taken in the past. And, as usual, I don't expect the MSM to mention much of this. They will happily sing the chorus of Obama's theme song, All the Stuff You're in Favor of, I Am Too, and Always Have Been, or At Least I Voted "Present" on It.

F-ing right. That's been bugging me all week as MSM is dragged into these stories.
I kept thinking: doesnt move to the center in the general election mean you start highlighting centrist views and downplaying ideological ones not simply CHANGE YOUR STANCE.
NPR listed several Obama flip-flops, before (virtually) giggling that its the time-tested American tradition. (I was waiting for them to post a transcript, but heres the audio.)
The Philadelphia Daily News bemoans his flip on telecom immunity before concluding hes actually behaving like a true patriot:
In fact, Obama is a politician with a (mostly) good message and a great story who really, really wants to be the president of the United States - and will do or say whatever it takes to get himself there. Is there anything more all-American than that?
Dang. Just dang.
