— Ace Since the President and adminstration we've supported so stalwartly is calling us Nazis in their snit, I figured I might as well get with the program myself.
The loss of revnues is not all that great in the scheme of things. A drop in the bucket, really -- $160,000 odd last year versus $100,000 this year. Money wise, that's nothing. Especially when offset by the big checks from businesses and Hispanic lobbies to get this Frankamnestein stitched together and wobbling on its own feet.
The trouble is, people vote their wallets, and their wallets presage their votes. If they're not giving money, they're not going to be giving votes, either.
The RNC has fired its in-house dial-a-donor staff and hired outsiders to do the job.
They blame the "antiquated" nature of the phone system for the drop off in donations.
Maybe it's due to the antiquated nature of this warmed-over 1986 amnesty.

"Last year, my solicitations totaled $164,000, and this year the way
they were running for the first four months, they would total $100,000
by the end of 2007," said one fired phone bank solicitor who asked not
to be identified.

Anne Hathaway, the committee's chief of staff, summoned the solicitations staff last week and told them they were out of work, effective immediately, the fired staffers told The Times.
They should replace them with illegals. May as well practice what you preach.

It might just be that until there is a constriction of the candidates running for president then everyone is still seeing "bush" as the leader of the republican party. I forget who I read just an hour or so ago talking about something like this.
Until there is a clear front runner that the base can get around, the funding is gonna be weak, because at the moment the most notable name is still "bush" and for one of the first times in the history of mankind, there aren't too many people buying bush.
Once it becomes Fred and the twins, then it will all drop into line.

They really need to get out of BosNYWash and amongst their supporters, again.

If the RNC wants to draw the conclusion that its related to this immigration kludge, I'd be more than happy.
But last year was an election year. This year isn't. I would expect that would explain most of the drop-off, especially in the small donor amounts.
Posted by: Guvnah at May 31, 2007 01:35 PM (Rg8DN)
Yeah, I'd say it's a combination of A) odd-numbered year, B) no clear candidate yet, C) the immigration debacle, D)bush sucks d00d, and E) whatever anyone else suggests.

Not the hard money and hard money is apparently worth its weight in gold. I've had campaigns spend three times as much as I gave them soliciting me for more hard money after I gave them some just to show my support. The relatively unlimited soft money that businesses can give can't be used directly for campaigning but party building and more solicitation of contributions is legal.

1. Build a fence, and man it adequately.
2. Systematically fine employers who hire illegals.
3. Cut off access to international funds transfer by those without proper ID so they can't remit funds home.
Posted by: j.pickens at May 31, 2007 04:09 PM (bGelp)
Once you start enforcing existing law you are making it harder for illegals to work and live here. They will have less incentive to stay and go home. Simple attrition.
That's the theory at least. As far as I know, no one of any consequence is calling for door to door round ups and deportation, though workplace raids should and would be a part of that strategy. Also, forcing local governments to check the immigration status of people they arrest will help to find the ones you really want to get rid of.
Alas, none of that seems to be on the table.

I agree with the No-Amnesty shit, but how DO we deal with 12 mil illegals?
It wouldn't be terribly hard to send most of them home. Start handing out business closing fines for hiring illegals and the job pool would dry up. No jobs no reason to stay here.
If you want to speed up the process , you require county , city and state agencies to report them once they come to their notice.

I like the French idea of paying the illegals
I like kicking them out of the country without any rewards. So far everytime I've broken the law, I've lost money, quite a good chunk of it, don't know why they should make any.
Posted by: Wickedpinto at May 31, 2007 05:00 PM (QTv8u)
The French aren't paying illegals, it's legal immigrants being asked to go because the country is in deep shit. If the French paid illegals, half of the world would try to slip into France to collect their checks.
Here it is:
The new political regime in Paris is determined to curb illegal immigration, but is also looking to encourage legal migrants to leave France, by paying them to go back home.
Under the Brice Hortefeux scheme, Paris would provide each family with a nest egg of $8,000 to go back to their country of origin.

If I go to Mexico - I sign my life away. I would take the money, build a wall for a couple of thousand miles, copy the Mexican rules into English and treat the Illegals like Mexico treats theres.
Hard labor would solve some of the pains of building a fence and make McCain's NON-Amnesty Amnesty a "forced Labor Bill".
Then the illegals would truly be doing what the do nothings in Congress say they are doing - JObs that congressnmen don't want.

It was still amazing that the GOP sacked the entire phone solicitation staff like that. Based on their call log to my place in the past two years, they have not failed through lack of effort. The voters simply haven't been giving donations. I suppose the "they're just no giving" explanation failed to get understanding from the RNC? Too bad for them then, they can continue to operate on a loss until the party leadership begins to heed the will of the base. The real Red State Average Joe base, not the country club slicks who won't be in danger of being undercut by a flood of cheaply working, entitlement grabbing, terrorist hiding illegals.

Well, I can tell you for certain that the new ones are better than the old.
I've been curtly ending conversations with the old lot at least once a week for quite some time. When I did so with the very competent lady who called the other day, without missing a beat, and without sounding scripted, she agreed with me completely.
She then said, since I'd told her that no, I wasn't interested in attending a dinner with GWB in Washington, "The party really needs to rebuild itself and get rid of some of the bad seed it's accumulated over the past several years - can you help us with a donation of just ..."
Smoothest save attempt I've seen since the day I watched a friend, shot down while trying to pick up some gal, asked her "So, I suppose a blowjob's completely out of the question then?"
I complimented her on the fact that I hadn't even felt her hand rubbing against my duodenum, told her no thanks, and asked to be put on their "don't bother my ass until you clean things up" list.

I suggest treating illegals with "reciprocity" -- IOW apply the same laws and procedures their native country applies to them.
In the case of Mexico, the Mexican constitution allows their president to summarily deport without any appeal, non-citizens who gripe even the slightest bit about the internal politics of Mexico.

The White House's and WSJ's Immigration Bill FAQ
Q. I'm concerned that the immigration bill focuses more on
giving illegal immigrants amnesty than border protection. Does the
President share these concerns?
A. The President doesn't hate brown people.
Q. This isn't a racial issue. Many people think this bill
will only encourage more illegal immigration and leave our borders open
and dangerous. What are the answer to these charges?
A. To answer your underlying question, I'm afraid the the President is
against your proposal to commit genocide against Hispanics.
Q. This isn't about Hispanics! This is about our laws being respected and our national security!
A. Unfortunately, America has had a long history of closed-minded
bigots like you who hate all immigrants and want to keep the nation
white and pure. To answer what we can only assume will be your next
question, no, jackboots aren't tax deductible, but have fun in your
neo-Nazi march anyway.
Q. I'm not against immigrants! Why can't you people
understand there is a difference between legal and illegal
immigration?! I'm only objecting to the illegal ones!
A. Calm down. It's this frothing at the mouth anger that causes your
irrational views on immigration. To answer your other concerns,
Hispanics actually have excellent hygiene, are not lazy, and aren't all
criminals. Also, there has been no genetic evidence that Hispanics are
inferior to the white man. I'd be careful about believing just any
pamphlet handed out at your KKK meetings.
Q. With President Bush already having shaky support, do you
think it's wise to label people with legitimate concerns about illegal
immigration "racists"?
A. Did anyone ever tell you you have many blatantly homosexual tendencies?

Interview with immigration critic, Bill Cutting
Reporter: Mr. Cutting, this proposed bill is said to have a mechanism for illegal aliens to be accounted for in order to better enforce our employment laws with businesses. Is this something you agree would be good if it worked?
Bill Cutting: My great grand father gave his life, making this country what it is. Murdered by the Mexicans with all of his men on the twenty fifth of July, anno domini, 1846. Do you think I'm going to help you befoul his legacy, by giving this country over to them, what's had no hand in the fighting for it? Why, because they come off a boat crawling with lice and begging you for soup.
Reporter: Okay then, what about the claim that this bill will require enforcement triggers to be met before anyone is provided any temporary worker status or Z visa?
Bill Cutting: I don't see no Americans. I see trespassers, Mexican harps. Do a job for a nickel what a nigger does for a dime and a white man used to get a quarter for. What have they done? Name one thing they've contributed.
Reporter: So you don’t think the enforcement benchmarks will be met or they will be ignored?
Bill Cutting: If only I had the guns, Mr. Reporter, I'd shoot each and every one of them before they set foot on American soil.
Reporter: Critics have said their dispute is not specifically about Mexicans and its strictly about a bad immigration bill. Is this accurate?
Bill Cutting :On the seventh day the Lord rested, but before that he did, he squatted over the side of America and what came out of him... was Mexico. No offense son.
Reporter: Thank you Mr. Cutting.
