Wisconsin Democratic Tire-Slashers Get Jail Time
— Ace

Six months for two of the offenders. The judge/hero rejected a bullshit plea bargain offered by the prosecution offering nothing but probation.

Tossing aside a plea agreement that called for probation, Milwaukee Circuit Court Judge Michael Brennan sentenced four Democratic Party workers today to jail for slashing the tires of 25 vans rented by Republicans to take voters to polls for the 2004 presidential election.

Calling the vandalism more than harmless hijinks, Brennan admonished the four men, including the sons of two prominent Milwaukee politicians, for disenfranchising voters. The judge said he had received letters from Milwaukee County citizens upset over the crime.

"They see you tampering with something they consider sacred and that's the ballot box," Brennan said during a two-hour sentencing this morning.

Michael Pratt, 33, and Lewis Caldwell, 29, were each sentenced to six months in jail while Lavelle Mohammad, 36, got five months and Sowande Omokunde, 26, got four months. Each was also fined $1,000. They will be eligible for work release and were allowed to surrender to begin their sentences within two weeks.

Pratt is the son of former Acting Mayor Marvin Pratt and Omokunde is the son of U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.)

I'm going to go waaaayyy out on a limb here and guess the prosecutor who offered the deal is a Democrat, or the whole office is controlled by elected Democrats.

For all their screeching about voter disenfranchisement, they sure are willing to be very lenient when the right people are doing the disenfranchising.

Enjoy your time in jail, thugs.

Thanks to Purple Avenger.

3 Christ, every once in a while, the good guys win.

OT, but here's a copy of a letter I just sent to the White House. I'm SO fucking pissed.

Dear Sir

I would appreciate it if you would stop making the ridiculous and insulting statement that illegal aliens "do the jobs Americans won't do." Americans will do any job if they are compensated fairly. If the companies who hire illegals didn't have a labor force that they can pay crap wages to, they'd be forced to pay fair market wages. If they can't make a profit doing that, TOUGH SHIT. Businesses go under every day in this country. Someone with a better business model will come along and fill that need.

And let's dispense with this straw man about how we can't deport 12 million people. No one is saying that. If we levied prohibitive fines on businesses that hire illegals, and deported them as we find them, most of them would go back to Mexico. You and every person in Congress were elected to represent us, not a bunch of illegal aliens. You took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, and you are SELLING US OUT.

You claim to want to defend America, but you have done NOTHING to control our borders. When some terrorist sets off a dirty bomb, or God forbid, a nuclear device in an American city, that blood will be on your hands.

You don't seem to understand that you're playing with fire. What if a lot of Republicans stay at home this election, and the Dummocrats gain control of Congress? That will be on you. You'd better wake up soon, or there will be a disaster.

4 for some reason, this doesn't surprise me. I lived there for a long time. Outside of Madison and central Milwaukee, it's a very conservative state. Let's hope Green can beat Doyle for Gov. this year...id's for voting becomes reality and WI turns red.

5 OT OT OT

The CS Monitor has an article on Zarqawi's video/reaction thereto. It's on Google News's feed now. Overall it's a decent article.

It does describe him kind of oddly, though, as:

"powerful and chipmunk-cheeked"

Not saying this is any kind of *positive* description. But it did sort of leap out of the page at me.

6 Work release is nothing more than a teenage version of sleep over. Spend the night in jail performing reach arounds, consume a taxpayer breakfast, then go to work and bitch about the inability to smoke dope and drink Mad Dog 20/20 at the jail!

7 The judge/hero rejected a bullshit plea . . .

Bullshit indeed! I was sickened when I heard about the "plea bargain." This puts some justice back into the equation.

8 This is fairly significant for Milwaukee. Of course the judge has already been branded a 'racist' by some of the 'leaders' of the black community.

21 What does "deported them as we find them" mean? Can you give me a scenario where we find some and deport them?

It's a serious question, not flame-bait, since I can't imagine living in a country with vans going around picking people up off street corners. I don't think many of us could so I figure you have something else in mind.

Posted by: spongeworthy at April 27, 2006 03:46 AM (uSomN)

22 Can you give me a scenario where we find some and deport them?
spongeworthy:
Is that a rhetorical question? ICE reviews the records of a business, finds numerous discrepancies with social security numbers, conducts a raid, as they did recently with IFCO, and arrests hundreds of illegal aliens working at the job site...it isn't that hard.
I can't imagine living in a country with vans going around picking people up off street corners...
Kind of like they do in Mexico with their own illegal aliens?

Posted by: Con Ky at April 27, 2006 04:10 AM (Tt81k)

23 I think "deported as we find them" means that if an illegal alien comes in contact with the cops during some routine interaction like a traffic stop, the cops turn them over to the Feds rather than not turning them over which is what happens now.

You do live in a country where vans go around picking up people from street corners. That’s how most illegals get to their day labor jobs. In some states, the taxpayer has been kind enough to provide shelters and a place to sit, whether they wanted to or not. The cops are constantly interacting with illegals; they are just not allowed to ask them they're status even if they can't speak the mother tongue. It’s all about accommodation. We have been told repeatedly that we need these hardworking, law abiding felons to do the jobs we fat, stupid, lazy Americans won’t do. You know, if it is said often enough, it becomes true. Our entire economy is dependent on these hardworking law abiding felons. On Monday, May 1st, the entire country will come to a stand still (according to organizers of the marches) when they once again march in our streets demanding rights they aren’t entitled to as they are here ILLEGALLY. The reconquista of kalifornia is well underway with full support by our President and Congress. Here are a few comments made by supportors of amnesty:

Augustin Cebada, Brown Berets; "Go back to Boston! Go back to Plymouth Rock, Pilgrims! Get out! We are the future. You are old and tired. Go on. We have beaten you. Leave like beaten rats. You old white people. It is your duty to die . . . Through love of having children, we are going to take over.

Richard Alatorre, Los Angeles City Council. "They're afraid we're going to take over the governmental institutions and other institutions. They're right. We will take them over . . . We are here to stay."

Excelsior, the national newspaper of Mexico, "The American Southwest seems to be slowly returning to the jurisdiction of Mexico without firing a single shot."

Professor Jose Angel Gutierrez, University of Texas; "We have an aging white America. They are not making babies. They are dying. The explosion is in our population . . . I love it. They are ting in their pants with fear. I love it."

Art Torres, Chairman of the California Democratic Party, "Remember
187--proposition to deny taxpayer funds for services to non-citizens--was the last gasp of white America in California."

Gloria Molina, Los Angeles County Supervisor, "We are politicizing every single one of these new citizens that are becoming citizens of this country . . . I gotta tell you that a lot of people are saying, "I'm going to go out there and vote because I want to pay them back."

Mario Obledo, California Coalition of Hispanic Organizations and California State Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare under Governor Jerry Brown, also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bill Clinton, "California is going to be a Hispanic state. Anyone who doesn't like it should leave."

Jose Pescador Osuna, Mexican Consul General , "We are practicing 'La Reconquista' in California."

Professor Fernando Guerra, Loyola Marymount University; "We need to avoid a white backlash by using codes understood by Latinos ."

28 Really, all the inflammatory quotes from the La Raza crowd isn't what I'm curious about, any more than I care about Mexico's own policies. I am concerned about the cost in civil liberties involved in what I hear more and more as the only accepted conservative position regarding deportation. Which is that for some reason--never specified--we can and should actually round up 12 million people and send them home.

It seems that this process--again never described--is proclaimed "possible" but I never see exactly how and how much it will cost. Or what makes it worth it.

I agree raids and resulting deportation is a no-brainer, just as upon apprehension illegals should be sent packing. But I strongly oppose sending local cops on roundups or trolling Home Depots in unmarked INS vans. It just isn't worth it.

Anyway, you're never going to deport 12 million illegals by raiding businesses and jails for them. You won't get 1 million that way--these people aren't stupid or their bones would be bleaching in the Arizona desert instead of bending over a pot of onion soup in a Newark kitchen.
