Universal's Marketing Campaign For United 93: "Hey, We Deserved It!"
— Ace

They can't release a movie about a massacre conducted by Muslims without asking "Why do they hate us?" Michelle vid-blogs at Hot Air.

Thanks to Allah.

1 I can never hear any of these damn things.

I wish they would also put up a transcript.

2 "Why do they hate us?"

I hope no one literally said this. A couple of years ago I had had enough and started telling people off the bat that I was tired of hearing such an outrageious question and I promised to cold cock the next person who said it to me. A promise is a promise . . .

3 shawn,

The discussion board is entitled "Why Do They Hate America?", which I guess is technically different from "Why Do They Hate Us?"

The answers they come up with are somewhat predictable agitprop, but even then some of it is surprisingly incoherent.

4 Why do they hate us and want to kill us? Because we are not muslim and follow the teachings of moham-mad. end. of. story.

5 Honestly, I don't get what the big deal is about that site. It's very tame and tries so hard to be uncontroversial. Which makes it useless, of course, but what did you expect? If you read the entire thing you'll realize it's just sloppy writing that meanders aimlessly more than an attempt to blame the West, or anything like that. Of all the truly objectionable things to get upset about, this hardly seems like a worthwhile one.

6 The number one reason the Al Qaida hates the West is the movies, music and television coming from the American entertainment industry. They abhor the violence and sex that saturates our entertainment.

They believe it will turn their women into whores and that Muslim men will lose their power to control their women.

Hollywood film makers are the reason they hate us. Without Hollywood, Muslims would leave us alone.

7 I was under the impression that they hate us because they knew that if they launched an attack that would kill thousands of Americans on American soil, Americans may start to stare at arabs funny. Because, you know, we are racist and stuff.

8 Thanks, caspeara. Same b.s. I live in a moonbat ghetto. Post 911, people were constantly saying to me, “Do you know WHY they hate us???” The implication being that they were going to educate me politically. I would answer, “Do you know WHY I don't give a shit???” But, that only put them off for a short time. It was then I resorted to threats of violence.

9 Why do they hate us?

What's with the "us", paleface?

I don't give a flip why "they" hate you, but I know why I hate you narcisistic hedonist hollywood A-holes?

10 My responses to 'Why do they hate us?' include:

1. Hatred is of course wrong in and of itself so they need to stop. (if necessary, I add 'Do we ask why Hitler hated the Jews?' or 'Do we ask why Stalin hated kulaks?'

2. Hatred begets hatred. Do you want the question to become 'Why do we hate them?' Especially since the answer will be obvious.

3. People/cultures full of hatred are the problem, not the objects of their hatred - ask the Jews, ask the former landowners in Communist countries, ask the Buddists under the Khmer Rouge etc.

4.You don't excuse racial bigotry, nor should you, so why do you even worry about why a religious bigot hates you? Shouldn't you be concerned about trying to change them rather than feeling guilty yourself? That's how you handle racists.

Unfortunately, in the end these points usually lead to the subject being changed - the 'citizens of the world' who hate America first and foremost are already emotionally on the side of 'them' (the haters) and are just happy to have a new club with which to beat America.

Or as I have said before, our 'self-hating Americans' have now become 'hating Americans' and are happy to, at the least, find excuses for anyone who also hates America.

11 In their narcissism when the left asks "why do they hate us" they are of course only thinking of ourselves, and what we could have done to make those poor oppressed people hate us. The rest of the world are simply animals, reacting instinctively to what big bad Amerikkka does. Leftists never explore the other half of the hate equation, i.e. what is it about Muslim culture that makes them hate us.

12 srl,

The discussion board is entitled "Why Do They Hate America" and then goes into the Crusades and whatnot. It is entirely inappropriate given that it is part of the "press kit" for a movie which at the very least should not pour salt in the wounds of the families of the murdered. Even the supine movie Munich didn't have an official web page entitled "Why Does Everybody Hate the Jews?" that immediately went into medieval usury, the 1949 UN Resolution, etc.. For me, mealy apologetics for the mass murderers of Semtember 11 are as infuriating as the full-throated kind.

13 What's the last movie that had muslim terrorists as bad guys? The latest one I can think of is True Lies from 1994. Anyone? Did hollywood just decide muslim terrorists are blase and overused, as opposed to neo nazis and evil white businessmen?

14 Executive Decision with Kurt Russel and that movie with Denzel Washington where muslim extremists start setting off bombs around NYC I think. That movie was pretty bold if you think about it. Both of those were well before 9/11, though. So your point is well taken.

Think either of those would be made now?

15 Apparently they don't shit about history.

16 That would be - Apparently, they don't know shit about history

17 When can we strat pulling down the HOLLYWOOD sign and replace it with NEW USSR instead?

18 "Why do they hate us?"

The Islamists have made it very clear why they hate us. People who ask this pretentious question are not listening.

Posted by: nuthin2seehere at April 27, 2006 05:58 PM (blNMI)

19 haha Jenny! It's actually: "Hollywood don't know OR CARE shit about history"
The Movie homepage, in the last paragraph, poses the question about the founding of Isreal ticking the Muslems off. Excuse me? Isreal pre-dates the Muslems by what, 1000 years? Gimmie a break! What is sh*t like that doing on a movie promo page?
Aaah Hollywood, about as subtle as a skunk in heat...

20 My moonbat cousin - the one who believes in UFOs and liberalism - asked me that question. As I can best recall, my reply was as follows:

"Have you read bin Laden's Letter to America? No? Well, do so, because he answers your question succinctly. They hate us because of all the things that you so fervently advocate: The abolition of slavery. The emancipation of women. The separation of church and state. Free speech. Free scientific inquiry. The lending of money at interest and the making of profits - i.e., capitalism. In brief, the idea that human beings are free, autonomous individuals with inherent rights that no state, church, religion, or god can deny. The hate us because we deny, root and branch, their philosophy of submission to a scripture and its prophets and immams. They hate us because our accomplishments leave theirs in the dust.

"They hate us not for what we've done wrong, but for what we've done right. If you truly cherish the principals that you liberals so love to proclaim, then you should realize that these people don't just hate America: they hate you. Deal with it."

I wish I could say that this helped a glimmer of light break through the moonbattery. No such luck: too far gone. Oh, well; as Jack London said, "There's no coming between a fool and his folly."

Posted by: Brown Line at April 28, 2006 02:13 AM (IOcD7)

21 Brown Line, that's what separates the liberals (the real, classic ones) from the moonbat socialist radicals. Real liberals don't care who is president, they hold to their principles and fight for liberty. They recognize Islamofascists as a threat to liberty in our lands and a crushing tyrrany in their own lands. Real liberals see Iran as a picture perfect example of everything they fight against and despise, not an example of how America is to blame and the embodiment of everything they despise.

Real liberals are men like Christopher Hitchens. Socialist radicals are men like the moonbats who post here and the ones in charge of the Democrat party. These are people who have lost all sight of the principles that they claim to stand for.

United 93 is the only movie since 9/11 that actually has islamic terrorists as bad guys. Think about that in the perspective of WW2.

22 Let me some it up for you: As Sean Penn said in Team America: World Police "Last year I went to Iraq. Before Team America showed up, it was a happy place. They had flowery meadows and rainbow skies, and rivers made of chocolate, where the children danced and laughed and played with gumdrop smiles."

We want to take away their rivers of chocolate.

23   Sadly, no major religion is without those who misconstrue its tenets to rationalize their violence. ,
