15 So on the gun shop opening. I was there. I went not so much to want to spend money (as if I could anyway, the place was PACKED), but to show support for the shop owners and push back a little against the Dems who were trying to bully the landlords and environs into opposing this business. I saw the open letter the Dems had sent, and I tell you...it's really chilling what they think they can do. And yep, one single protestor. I was highly amused at her sign, thinking that more people homeschooling isn't at all a bad thing, so I didn't think she really thought her position through. Hats off to the owner. I hope he does well.

Kidnapped Priest crucified by ISIS

I know the TDS is strong here, but I'd like to think that Teh Donald could get a lot of mileage and a bump in the polls if he slammed this atrocity and the dog-eating crackhead who enabled it.

"But why not Cruz?" you might ask.  Because, IMO, this sort of thing is in his wheelhouse and would thus be ignored by the  irreligious left and MFM as just more of Lyin' Ted's god-bothering.  It takes a religiously-indifferent schmuck like Trump to force this abomination into the national conversation.

Which means it will never happen.

God bless that priest.  He died for his faith.

129 Most of the time I think, when we look back on the way things were, we look back at a very specific timeframe, or event, or series of events. I would like to ask you to do an experiment and try to look back eight, maybe nine, years ago and try to consider being in that time frame in a broad sense - taking everything of that period into consideration and into context. Now - try to imagine even beginning to imagining some ot the things that are taken for granted today even being a possibility of your imagination eight or nine years ago. Try to imagine whether or not you think it would have been possible to contemplate a person having their livelihood stripped from them for not baking a cake for an event that put into question their deeply held convictions. Try to imagine someone's ability to express themselves in a political, or social setting, stripped from them because their written or spoken words were judged to cause harm to those who held, not just different, but radically opposing views that only a few short years earlier would have been judged so far outside of the mainstream to be laughable. Eight - nine - years ago, what is happening in this country would have only been imaginable in a country widely viewed as oppressive. It would have been judged so far away from any concept of a free society that you would have been laughed out of a room for even suggesting that things like this were even possible. We talked about how fast thing were moving away from liberty eight years ago on this blog. We look at things now, from this perspective of this point in time and we can't see the magnitude of the rending that has taken place of our society. Now try to imagine - eight years into the future - of that society that existed eight years ago - existing again today. It's impossible. We are fighting for a society that is dust and haze.

This one has always confused me and left me with questions I can't answer: (1) What was Trump promised to make him do this? It would have to be something really good for him to put up with this nonsense for over a year, right? (2) Donald Trump does not have a history of playing the patsy, why would he do this now? (3) How did they know that the Republican Party would be so vulnerable to Trump, how did they know he would last longer than a fart in a thunderstorm and would become the front runner? (4) If they knew all of this how come they didn't know that the Democrats would be vulnerable to a Sanders run? (5) How do the people proposing this scenario know that this actually happened? Does Bill talk in his sleep or something? Or is it just wild speculation (ding! ding! ding!) which is my guess.

(2) Donald Trump does not have a history of playing the patsy, why would he do this now? (3) How did they know that the Republican Party would be so vulnerable to Trump, how did they know he would last longer than a fart in a thunderstorm and would become the front runner? A: We've been watching primary battles for six years now, and how the party has worsened. We also know that name recognition, funding and a message are essential in a primary. He has all three. And he's an outsider (bot an officeholder) (4) If they knew all of this how come they didn't know that the Democrats would be vulnerable to a Sanders run? A: They aren't really. This time around when he checked he saw the great division between the voters concerns and what issues the others were holding positions on and pandered to the concerns of the voters, giving him his opening. No one needed to persuade him, he persuaded himself. No mere acquaintance to do a favor for was necessary, he did it solely for his best friend - Donald Trump. You can, technically, get a game piece without a purchase. All you have to do is send them a letter, with a SASE, requesting one. Six to eight weeks later, viola! You might get one if it isn't 'lost' in the mail, the creeks don't rise, and in any event you're out over a buck in postage.

So, unless terrorists are killed, weenies will release them, usually early, too, and they will go back to murdering innocent people.

In it she says he wanted to run as a protest candidate to publicize his core issues (of immigration, trade imbalances and the PC bullshit presumably), but never expected to get higher than 10-15% or so. He wanted to influence the political debate, and (I hope!) get the Bushes out of the party! But these ideas are lots more powerful and popular than he ever thought and his simple "protest candidacy" has turned into a movement. Trump didn't expect this, which explains his very thin campaign staff and his evident unpreparedness for being the frontrunner.

In the play and musical 1776  Stephen Hopkins shows Ben Franklin a set of cards he has had printed, reading,  Dear Sir, you are, without any doubt, a rogue, a rascal, a villain, a thief, a scoundrel and a mean, dirty, stinking, sniveling, pimping, pocket-picking, thrice double-damned no good son of a bitch.

Put an entire plane load of people at risk, die for it.

347 It continually amazes me how people fall for that shit. Ooooooh a raffle to win $25 of free stuff! Sure, here's all my personal info that will be stored in umpteen marketing databases forever. Unreal. Posted by: Monsieur Moo Moo at March 29, 2016 10:03 AM (0LHZx) Except business cards are one's form of personal advertising. Getting one's name out there, along with one's services offered. Basic social networking, long before it was an Internet thing.

348 Megan McCain always struck me as a potential hottie. Posted by: ScoggDog at March 29, 2016 10:08 AM (W+w2W) Especially the whole "heiress to a beer distributorship" thing. Even if it is Bud.

349 The Falklands were British long before Argentina was a country. And why would anyone condemn the people who live in the Falklands to live under a corrupt and murderous government like Argentina? Posted by: Bruce With a Wang! Soooo. The UN (borders are so overrated) is reversing itself after 1982 and declaring that Argentina has a right to something simply because it's near their coast? The residents should immediately declare themselves to be the FLO and demand representation at the UN. Fuckers.

350 A small skewed history on the Falkands:

Argentina has a problem. It is a Peronist-socialist government. That is to say it is fascist, but unlike Brazil they aren't as proud of it.
The economy does not work and is pulled back and forth by special interests looking for advantage, and the victim of the resulting market distortion is the consumer and voter
When things go bad the government tends to rely a lot on the police and the military to back them up, but after a while they have to find a reason the police and military have such influence other than "to protect the government from the people"

Argentina is in the end of continent.  Its neighbors are Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil, with whom they are in the MercoSur trading alliance and are dependent on for markets and materials. (and some of them are either powerful or historically a real bastard to fight)
There is also Chile which may well overmatch them militarily and is behind the Andes.
and then there is Antarctica, which has penguins, and the Falklands which doesn't have much but sheep and fishing rights.

In the past Argentina has tried to defuse domestic tension by showing military might to unite their people in wartime by invading the Falklands.
Argentina doesn't need the Falklands, and the Falklands have regular plebiscites at the insistence of the Argentinian government and regularly vote UK.
They also remember the Malvinas war and not fondly.

Further, the Falklands are outside of even the 200 mile limit if you draw a line between the mouth of the Rio de Plata estuary and Estandos Island off Tierra del Fuego

I don't think the UK will surrender here anytime soon, it is too much like Hong Kong with less reason.  And now there is oil.

351 McCain blew thru the money her grandfather left her at record speed. It was so bad she had to move home to live. She must get over paid quite a bit to keep up her lifestyle. Wonder how much mom will leave her? Lots of kids and grandkids to divide it.

353 Was gonna say, Guam isn't in US waters...... Posted by: rickb223 at March 29, 2016 10:37 AM (mYj3l) The Falklands are a long way offshore from Argentina; not in what would normally be regarded as territorial waters.

354 Lewendowski charged with battery in FL ============= Cant get any more political than that. Cant believe any prosecutorial agency would file such nonsense. The again, they are the ones that filed that piece of crap against Zimmerman.

361 So, I called an FBI friend of mine to verify the 147 number in the article about Clinton email investigation. It turns out that the number is exagerated. The actual number is two. Yes - two. The other 145 are assigned to watch porn. If they don't have a significant number of agents specifically assigned to watch porn, then they all spend the bulk of their time watching porn. This way at least some investigative work can get done.
