Trump Withdrawing From Paris Climate Accords
— Ace

While the Twitter ninnies and NeverTrumpers (but I repeat myself) obsess over the typo "confefe," actual news is out there, though it might not be as nummy to the Twitter Shut-in Set.

President Trump has made his decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the decision. Details on how the withdrawal will be executed are being worked out by a small team including EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt. They're deciding on whether to initiate a full, formal withdrawal -- which could take 3 years -- or exit the underlying United Nations climate change treaty, which would be faster but more extreme.

Why this matters: Pulling out of Paris is the biggest thing Trump could do to unravel Obama's climate legacy. It sends a combative signal to the rest of the world that America doesn't prioritize climate change and threatens to unravel the ambition of the entire deal.

But don't worry, Twitter Addicts and NeverTrumpers (BIRM) -- You lost Paris, but you'll always have covfefe.

He's also put a 90 day delay on an Obama-era rule on methane.

55 Word is that Trump made it clear to Merkel that he was going to have the US pull out of the Paris Accord. Which explains her pique days ago. It'll be a galactic meltdown. There'll be lots of diplomatic threats, but it will force the CAGW crowd (including Merkel) to double down on the hoax. The Lefties in the US will go crazy! Once it's confirmed, then I'll be a bitch to all the people here who freaked out about Ivanka and Jared (oops, sorry, got a little head start there) but until then, nope, don't believe this either. Random thought: Do people today even know the difference between primary sources, secondary sources and interpretative texts? I ask this because someone responded to Insty's piece on the jaw dropping violations of Section 702 revealed in the FISA Court opinion by saying yeah but that's a stealth right wing site (aka Circa who broke the story) and Insty's response was what the FISA Court? I think we're at a point where people are incapable of comprehending that a primary source document remains so even if it is linked by someone whose politics you don't like. It's not a Schroedinger document. The text remains the same no matter who links it.

73 I always loved how they slinked from "global warming" to "climate change". The fucking "climate" has changed from the beginning of recorded time. One day the suns out, the next day it rains. The temperature goes up and down, largely with seasons. Man has zero impact on that. These are the same people who have given up their sovereignty and destroyed their unique cultures for the globalistts dream. That would be dead people killed by the horses they imported. 77 Very good news. I think what's been happening behind the scenes is that Trump naively thought that if he played footsie with the establishment (probably at the insistence of Ivanka and Jared) there was an off chance they would go along with him on some things. 118 Wait wait wait wait wait -- I thought only the SENATE could ratify an international treaty. I thought that when Obama signed these ludicrous documents, it was just a fake-ass bunch of leftist virtue signaling that was NOT LEGALLY BINDING. Therefore, I was under the impression that the US has no need to "withdraw" from the treaty because the US was never officially IN the treaty. In order to "withdraw" from it, all we need to do is simply stop abiding by its provisions -- which Trump is doing anyway. 197 >>I thought the same thing, after a fashion: "did the Senate ever ratify this ridiculous 'climate change' treaty? I don't remember that." In typical Obama fashion, he didn't call it a treaty. He called it an "executive agreement" or some such bullshit and bypassed Congress. This is really the story of Obama and why is legacy is so easily undone. Most of what he did was done with executive actions and can be just as easily undone with the right executive.

The women whispered about her; the men turned their backs. She was attractive in a louche way, but even the young men studiously avoided her. Drunk sometimes on too many pastis grudgingly served (her money was good), she would bray about indelicate things. Eventually, the village resented her, and resented Saltiere for letting to her.
"She is a boor with money," one woman said.
"She eats with her mouth open and food falls out when she is drunk," said another.
"Her politics," said the village pastor, sighing. "She is very...intrusive."
Finally, Saltiere, exhausted and shamed, said it. "She is trash, a covfefe, and I am sorry to you all."

373 "I thought only the SENATE could ratify an international treaty. I thought that when Obama signed these ludicrous documents, it was just a fake-ass bunch of leftist virtue signaling that was NOT LEGALLY BINDING."

Yep. Notice that the Senate also did not ratify Obama's equally ludicrous nuclear "deal" with Iran, which is a treaty by any rational measure.

In that circumstance, though, Bob Corker and Mitch McConnell pulled strings and shifted gears and greased the pig, to at least provide Obama with the rough semblance of an approving Senate vote. But it was not enough of a vote to pass Constitutional muster as a treaty ratification.

Instead, Democratic senators, most of whom if put to it would have gulped nervously and voted the thing down for the sake of job preservation, were able to make endless hay in front of audiences at Bush's expense.

415 Here is the thing - the Paris agreement (not treaty) accomplishes exactly nothing. It is a farce. It is phony, fake, and will make exactly zero difference in the amount of carbon dioxide emitted. That is because the signers don't control the world demand, or the world supply of hydrocarbons, and everything in it is voluntary. What will make people mad is that the sham was created to shut up the environmental idiots. people who demand action action action. Now every country who fails to meet the agreement promises will just blame Trump and the U.S., despite the fact they never intended to meet those promises. On top of that - trump doesn't have to do a thing to meet the obligations - we are already reducing carbon dioxide emissions rapidly in the U.S. - thanks to LED lights, and natural gas switching in for coal.

The local NPR affiliate had a roundtable on "resistance in the Trump era". One of the blockheads sitting round the table insisted that Trump had damaged U.S. national security by insulting Angela Merkel.

Why, he posited, what if there were to be a TERRIBLE GLOBAL CRISIS, requiring the U.S. to go hand in hand to Germany to request help, and the offended Merkel wouldn't take Trump's call?

Here's the actual rude reality about what today's Germany brings to the table militarily in a global crisis: damned little.

Because a corollary is that we've put a lot of people through college only to make them dumber in a fundamental sense, while giving them the arrogance of being credentialed. But I digress ... Another is that it's part of a global economic phenomenon that has exported industry to places like China and made pollution far worse. CO2 is not a pollutant FFS. It's plant food. 536 "And don't forget CO2 concentrations are always a lagging indicator according to the geological evidence." Which makes perfect sense because as the oceans get warmer they can't hold CO2 as well. So more goes into the atmosphere. Yes CO2 itself traps heat, but it's only a trace gas and the effect has diminishing returns. This is the part that the likes of Al Gore can't or won't get. If you took even pre-calculus and learned about infinite series you'd know that small drivers get overwhelmed by big drivers. If this weren't true with CO2 the World would have boiled over a long time ago when CO2 in the air was far higher than it is now.

The plants should be well dispersed across the county and be overseen by the military, as protection against attacks to our national power and grid system. The free electrical energy supplied to the country is just a side benefit. but would fuel a new manufacturing revolution, eliminate a major cost for the poor and seniors and bring on an age when we think less about how much energy we're using than how much air we're breathing. 543 Obama-era rule on methane.

Looks like farting's back on the menu, fellow bovines!

The fact that we don't have a methane layer despite farts might indicate to the climate geniuses that it breaks down in the atmosphere.

544 'I'm saying outright Turkey will withdraw from NATO in the most damaging way Erdogan can devise.' I don't think he would do that, as that would leave Sunni Turkey defenseless against Shia Iran and its ally Russia.

Posted by: phineas gage at May 31, 2017 02:56 PM (XsVWn) I didn't say Erdogan's upcoming betrayal would be strategically brilliant, passably clever or even remotely rational. We're talking about a megalomaniac who recently summarily banned the word 'arena' from the Turkish language. Dude's got spiders in his head, man. Earwigs and shit.

547 Griffen dropped from the NYE show. BFD.. bitch needs to see some jail time. I hope she can't get a job licking toilets. C**t.

548 So expect another "bombshell" recycled Russia story to come out around 5 pm.

549 Good. Warming is pure fiction invented to raise taxes, expand gummint and transfer money and sovereignty. Let the UN Diplo-Blobs pay for their own mistresses. There is a stretch of plastic waste floating in the ocean. Maybe we could fit some ships to clean up that kind of real, actual pollution instead of wasting trillions on Climate Imam Al Gore's Fantasy Ideology.

550 President Trump should say he'll abide by the Paris Accords if Congress approves them as per the Constitution. I'm sick of our worthless legislative class weaseling out of their most fundamental responsibilities. Force them to call a fucking vote and have it on the record.

551 >>>Nukes are carbon-free. Nuclear winter could counteract global warming.

552 Oh NOES! Elon Musk has threatened to quit the White House counsels if Trump pulls U.S. out of Paris climate accords. Does this mean he will find a way to run a business without sucking millions of dollars of federal subsidies out of the rest of us? Everything he does only makes money because of tax subsidies. No federal teat, and we would never have heard of this guy.

553 Normally I don't like to pull out right when the party is getting good but for the illegal Paris Accords I'm good with it.

554 Someone should get an injunction against pulling out of the Paris Accord because Trump said mean things about Muslims.

555 #24 "If only Obama had been some sort of Constitutional scholar and had understood the limits of such an action..." Or if only we had: A) an independent press that would inform the people that this was not a valid "treaty" without Senate approval, and B) a Judiciary that would protect the Constitution from being trampled on by a rogue Executive, and C) a Senate that would stand up to a rogue Executive and fulfill its duties under the Constitution. Lacking A and B and C, the people are pretty much on their own, and have little option but to take matters into their own hands at the first legal opportunity, and elect an Executive Branch leader who understands who he and his agencies work for, and can assist the other Branches in recalling the same! It would be extremely imprudent for the press and the other Branches to ignore the lesson that has been administered by the Great 2 X 4 of the People.

556 I don't understand. How can we pull out of something - and be bound by various formal protocols in doing so - if we never were in it in the first place? I don't recall a Senate vote ratifying this treaty - do you?

557 Whoa. Trump pulls out of the Paris Accords. CNN pulls out of Kathy Griffin. Is this a GREAT DAY or what?

558 THIS is most excellent!

And hopefully they choose option 2.

560 On the carbon thing, the cows must sure be relieved. Been holding in those farts a long time now...

561 THANK YOU, GOD!

I just felt the wind from a giant meat cleaver whisking past our ear. Boy, that was way too close.

And God Bless Donald Trump. The man clanks when he walks.
