Happy Tuesday.

The Boston Herald is reporting that the Tsarnaev family received over $100,000 in taxpayer-funded benefits from 2002 through 2012.

We're 100 days into President Obama's second term and he has yet to move any piece of his legislative agenda.

A decently designed septic tank and leach field NEVER needs to be pumped if the bacteria are maintained.

My parents were 30 years in the same house and the septic tank was never pumped.  If you don't flush shit that will kill the bacteria, and indigestible solids, its an automatic system.

Sounds to me like someone in that town's powers that be has a cousin who owns a septic pumping company

I'd be all for pushing the border farther South if it's on our terms. We should have restaged the Mexican-American War every few years until we reached the Panama Canal. Move the down a few hundred miles and give the current regime a big cash payment. Rinse and repeat.

One of the favorite bullshit slogans of the La Raza types is, "We didn't cross the border. The border crossed us." Try as I might, I've never found any mention of any great exodus of Mexican citizens fleeing south in the wake of Southern California becoming US territory. Nearly everyone seemed happy to stay put when the news reached them.

Of course, we'd need to eliminate nearly all welfare programs before taking on any new territory, to avoid flooding the system. This is a feature, not a bug.

There was an early 19th Century (IIRC) naval battle between two South American powers in which they ran out of stuff to put in the cannons. Somebody noted that the cheese in the galley had gotten rock hard and threw that in. There were reputedly several deaths from cheese shrapnel.

Another bullshit slogan of theirs' is that we stole that land. Had I been president  upon hearing that, I'd have set up a big splashy press  conference, invited a whole bunch of presstitutes and the leaders of La Raza.

Then, I would've   shown them the documents where we bought the land from Mexico,  shown everybody's   signatures, and then asked them how we stole it.

110 The thing about septic tanks is some people do incredibly stupid stuff like flush grease and fats down the drain. That stuff floats to the top of the septic tank and then can go out to the drain field. Instant death for proper drainage. Water doesn't leech trough grease or fat. Unless you pump a shit-load of acid to break it down. Better to dump grease into trash can, which I do. Or, they hook up a garbage disposal and fill the tank with too high a percentage of solids. But the nanny county can't warn people about the proper care and feeding of septic tanks and drain fields, instead they pass a law.

Oh, they know it was bought and paid for but they have a reply for that, too. Because Mexico was ruled by Europeans or nearly pure-blooded descendents of Europeans, they weren't the legit owners and had no right to make the sale.

In real life, ownership falls to those who can back up the claim with firepower, either their own or a government's. If you had the backing of Spain or France, it doesn't get any more legit that that in international affairs of the time.

If the modern day descendents of the natives object, they should consider that their ancestors had thousands of years undisturbed in which to get together the technology to handle any invaders. They didn't. FYNQ.

120 Because you have certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? The problem is that the current White House occupant sees those things as entirely alienable. You get what you get until he says you get no more because it would be unfair to those who haven't gotten yet. So under the guise of equitable redistribution he takes your shit and gives it to them in order to buy their votes and keep the cycle going. That's a poor long-term dynamic for those working their asses off.

121 One can be upset that the bomber boy family took benefits and then turned on the US but they probably won' t be the last. As far as people who take benefits and are just difficult people without being criminals well-as Francois Fenelon says: "Let the water flow beneath the bridge; let men be men, that is to say, weak, vain, inconstant, unjust, false, and presumptuous; let the world be the world still; you cannot prevent it. Let every one follow his own inclination and habits; you cannot recast them, and the best course is, to let them be as they are and bear with them. Do not think it strange when you witness unreasonableness and injustice; rest in peace in the bosom of God; He sees it all more clearly than you do, and yet permits it. Be content to do quietly and gently what it becomes you to do, and let everything else be to you as though it were not." If people really piss you off-and they do and they will-if you're a praying person-pray that they be filled with the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5), because if they are they still might take lots of money from the government (My spouse was on unemployment but tried to get off of it as soon as possible) but at least they will be much nicer people.

140 I lost most of my comment except what I copied and pasted from BackwardsBoy. I started to post that I had local Boston news on and some professor said that polling shows Markey (dem) is way ahead of Lynch and that Gomez is way ahead in the republican polls. Today is primary day here in MA and they expect very low turnout. Gomez looked good until The Boston Globe published a letter Gomez wrote to Deval Patrick asking to be appointed to Lurch Kerry's seat because he supports the JEF's agenda. Gomez is supposed to be a republican. He also donated to TFG, as a favor to a friend. The man went on to say that no dem wants to be on the ticket against Gomez because the elderly people love him, he's been in room with them and Gomez and their faces light up when they talk to him, they remind him of their grandson. Gomez has been exposed as a liar and he's ahead of the other republicans? VB, the one of the stations regulars said that voters in MA almost always need to be told who to vote for. The unions will be out in full forces, probably for Lynch. I would prefer Lynch (dem) than Gomez if it comes down to the two of them. I can't stand Markey. I"m going to vote in Republican primary for Sullivan.

To this day, a lot of them don't. There are fair-sized chunks of Mexico where the language spoken 600 years ago still dominates. There was an interesting story in the LA Times a few years ago about the complications this creates for the county legal systems in SoCal. They often have situation where everything has to go through two or more levels of translation, with one of translators being a child. Such as English to Spanish to Nahuatl and back again.

You see this in day laborer gatherings, too. There will often be a small group that will only hire out together because most of them don't speak Spanish or English (or Portuguese if they came from really far south), and they depend on one bilingual member of the group to be foreman, handling all of the negotiations and and assigning tasks.

154 If the modern day descendents of the natives object, ... I was wondering about the North American indigenous tribes' various opinions regarding the massive influx of the migrating tribes from south of the US border "invading" their reservations and the US territory in general. Tribal Councils take their pay-offs from both the corrupt US govt. officials and from the organized crime cartels and every other special interest financier? But do the Apache and Comanche actually tolerate sharing US tax funded benefits with immigrant native tribes from Mexico or from South America? Or is it only a blind eye granted while the migrants pass through reservations? Or is there a bit of cheaper than cheap labor happening on our Indian Reservations, or even human trafficking? Maybe the Tribal Councils are frustrated. Meanwhile, Mexico's government won't permit any influx of American natives not indigenous to Mexico, especially from south of their border.

178 True outhouse story: At about age 14 I was helping a friend tear down an old barbwire fence. His family had a rental house next-door that had an outhouse. I drove the tractor, pulling a long strand of barbwire behind it. Well, wouldn't you know, the barbwire caught on a corner of the outhouse and flipped it over. The renter just happened to be inside it at the time. Man, she was pissed.

If they had self-awareness they wouldn't let themselves be used as props in the first place.

183 The State Park campsites in AZ had outhouses throughout the 1960s until by 1970 gradual upgrades transitioned through porta-potties (not an upgrade, too easy to tip over, but still sometimes the only facility) to showers and toilets. Those of us boomers whose families went camping for summer vacations remember the stench and even fear of falling in as older siblings would tease. My grandparents had a cabin on old family property up a mountain, so when we had reunions there, the outhouse was the only "restroom".

I once imagined the USA being so good, working so well, other states would just naturally continue to join us, states of Mexico, provinces of Canada. I really thought that. Still seems workable, if we were run right again. Kids dreams. Like my naive, youthful wondering why the United States didn't have FIFTY seats at the United Nations, and since nation and state mean the same thing, what need is there for a UN when you already have a USA?

Michael K(g)ay opined on Jason Collins during the Yankee game last night. He said you have to be proud of how awesomely couragous and brave it is for a pampered millionaire to declare he loves teh cock in this day and age. I didn't neccessarily disagree, you must praise him lest you run afoul of the gay mafia.

Then he goes on to fret about how he worries that Collins, a benchwarmer at the end of his career, is now a free agent and might face discrimination in landing a new contract. LOFuckingL. Dude just landed himself another year minimum, whether he's actually a subscriber to Cock Aficionado or not.

340 Usually WMI isn't the culprit but instead an app that accesses it at a ridiculous pace, causing far more CPU activity than is needed for the job.

Frequently the rogue app is something from the manufacturer they add to 'enhance' Windows. I try to get rid of such things when setting up a new name brand PC, as they're usually worthless and cause problems. Companies like HP go insane trying to add value with proprietary HP stuff that just doesn't work very well.

If it isn't there to drive or use special hardware, I generally get rid of it. Especially app docks preloaded with all sorts of crapware that just eat memory and slow down the time to the system becoming usable after login.

Probably go for Sullivan, though from what I see, the genius electorate in this state will go for Markey. Forty years suckin' on the public teat counts for something in MA! A guess who looks Irish, is pro-abortion and lefty is a shoo-in.

I know it's hard BC but you probably are going to have to unplug it and disconnect it from the net....

do an uninstall if able and then reinstall and scan to check for VDs.....

then reconnect it to the net with either and preferably a new AV/FW or a reinstalled...

if you're using Win7 I'd go w/MicroShafts AV/FW combo it is "good enough" another charming "feature" of Win8 is no "free" M$ AV/FW

The language of threat used by the Israeli entity will not be effective since the resistance is adamant about continuing to develop its capabilities. It is lurking and waiting in the field." 364 Al-Aqsa Brigades take responsibility for Tapuach Junction attack Published: 04.30.13, 14:24 / Israel News Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, Fatah's military wing has taken responsibility for Tuesday morning's terror attack at the Tapuach Junction. Also reported was that the attack was in revenge of the deaths of security prisoners Afafat Jaradat and Maysara Abu Hamdiya. Palestinian Authority security sources have expressed their doubt regarding the authenticity of the announcement, but have not negated the possibility that the terror attack was carried out by the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades. It is estimated that the terrorist worked alone in an attempt to clear his family's name after his brother was accused of collaborating with Israel. Posted by: Oldsailors Poet is no longer shamelessly hawking his book Amy Lynn available on amazon. at April 30, 2013 08:52 AM (XIxXP) OSP- I bought a Mac last year and used my old Dell to work from home. It kept crashing and going blank for no reason. It's much easier to use Excel with a Windows computer so I bought the cheapest Dell I could find. It came with Windows 8. Then the old one seemed fine so I was going to return new one. Then old one stared with error messages so I set up the new Windows 8. There is so much junk to get rid of. I don't want Amazon, EBay and all the other stuff on my screen. I used it a few times and will have to figure it out. I have $21 in Dell Dollars. I might use those to get Office 365, I read I can install on this Mac and four other computers. I have old desktop upstairs that I stopped using in 2008. I want to use the $21. This Mac was the easiest computer I have ever set up. So many website are not compatible with Safari and I will not use Google, it's almost like you have to have a Windows computer to do some things. I should have ordered one with Windows 7 but the old one was dead the day I ordered it and I wanted one that could be shipped the next day. I have to go to work and vote on my way. I hope everyone has a good day. Carol

I refuse to believe this guy is a NH native.  We've got some stupid people here in the Granite State, but this goes BEYOND stupid   and approaches Massachusetts levels.

Wrong.

Anti-virus and anti-spyware are both built-in on Windows 8. They're both under the Defender brand that previously just meant the anti-spyware. MSE is still supported for older OSes but going forward it's going to be a standard part of the system rather than an additional install.

413 Good morning vast right wing conspiracy and Chinese takeout. Some enterprising Syrian general needs to emulate old man Assad and make some changes before you know who is forced to make a "Kaiser in August 1914" kind of decision.

414 Hey, I agree one penny was too much. The sad thing is most of these welfare people are on welfare BECAUSE it is their best option in life. I will search for the story about trade offs and incentives, too lazy this morning. Think, food stamps, Aid to dependent children, subsidized public housing, free meals at school, free health care (medicaid), AND most of them put their kids on Social Security as disabled. Did I forget free transportation, bus passes or cab fare, I kid you not, free phones, free heating assistance. There is more, I am thinking.

Ummmm...have you SEEN the pic?

That doesn't look like anyone in NH you've ever seen?  Really?

Hit the Boston Market in Concord right across from the L.L. Bean Outlet.  You shouldn't have to wait more than 15 min for a sighting.

I'm sure I'm not the only one, upon hearing that    Collins   came out of the closet,     who thought,    "Someone wants a contract         and knows that he's not getting there on talent.   Time to bring out the LGBTBBQ circus    to start shrieking about     homophobia!"

420 Sadly, I'm sure they'd both be considered staunchly "anti-civil rights" by today's standards. You just know that when BHO croaks (of natural causes, preferably) every MLK Boulevard in the country is going to be renamed. Memory tube time for MLK. They'll honor some dude that did nothing positive for the black community like job creation, in fact it's slipping, and take a dump on MLK.

425 Yep, I've used outhouses quite a bit. And I also agree that properly installed septic tanks never need to be pumped. The problem is that the rules insist on larger than needed tanks, based on the number of rooms in a house. And people don't understand how to properly maintain septic tanks and dump chemicals like bleach into them.

There's been some movement towards allowing alternatives like composting toilets, but typically the laws require septic tanks and drain fields even if you put one in. Just another way that we are less free and don't really gain a lot for it. The old guy's outhouse should be grandfathered in for his lifetime, but we've got government bureaucrats involved now. It'll never happen.

Oh, trust me, I know.  I see them all the time.   But the tats on this guy SCREAM   "Lowell transplant" to me.   Lowell,    Haverhill,   Worcester -- they all find their way up here to NH   for the cheap booze and cigarettes,   and more than a few of them end up staying.   It's one of the reasons   I loathe travelling any further south than Hooksett!

If you had a different item doing the task and uninstalled it, the system will say there is nothing in the role but will eventually suggest you let it make Defender active.

One of those things I do away with when setting up a new machine for a client is the trialware from Symantec or McAfee that gives you three months and then wants money. The built-in stuff is fine. I've yet to see an infection on a Win8 system.

It's time we had a national conversation on welfare.  Now that we know that tax payer money went to support terrorists, its due time.  On Dec 19, Obama began his call for gun control action; lets replace the ideas of guns and gun owners with welfare and welfare recepients and see how a portion of his speech plays out:

"But you know what, I am also betting that the majority -- the vast majority -- of responsible, law-abiding 'welfare recepients' would be some of the first to say that we should be able to keep an irresponsible, law-breaking few from 'getting welfare'.  IÂ’m willing to bet that they donÂ’t think that 'getting welfare' and using common sense are incompatible ideas -- that an unbalanced man shouldnÂ’t be able to get his hands 'others peoples hard earned money'; that in this age of technology, we should be able to check someoneÂ’s criminal records before he or she can 'live off of other people'; that if we work harder to keep 'welfare' out of the hands of dangerous people, there would be fewer atrocities like the one in 'Boston'"
