The leading figure in a small group of men of whom -- and of whom only -- it is positively known that immense numbers of their countrymen did not want any of them for President.

Mrs Meanie was pretty miffed about the BSU loss last night--told her we could book our tickets now to the Humanitarian Bowl to visit family.  Was not amused.  With one missed chip shot, BSU lost millions in big bowl revenue, lost the WAC crown in their last year in the conference, and lost credibility, TV exposure, and recruits.  There was a lot riding on that 22-year old kid's foot, and it ain't fair it had to come to that.

Oh, this is just perfect!

I dug out my copy of Robert A. Heinlein's "Expanded Universe" to reread, and I ran across this:

“Most liberals believe that water runs downhill, but, praise God, it’ll never reach the bottom.”

From the story Solution Unsatisfactory  written in...........1940

As much as I love football, a little perspective...I'm reading a WWII memoir, and there seems to have been a lot more riding on men younger than that around Europe at that time.

21 Barbara Walters interviewed the Mr. and Mrs. Destroyer last night.

He's real pproud of that health bill and thinks it is his greatest accomplishment. (Probably because he knows how much pain,  suffering,  and death it will cause.  I haven't forgotten how he treated that woman who asked about a heart operation for her elderly mother.)

Barbara also helped them suck up to Prince William and Kate,  no doubt angling for an invitation.  It has already been announced that it is not a state wedding so I am hopeful the Queen has put them onn the "do not,  under any circumstances,  invite" list.

Also,  the Telegraph became the first British paper to publicly push for complete withdrawal from the EU.

27 Eh, MS-Lunacy is wondering why this Somali guy was so vulnerable to being radicalized, when he grew up in our country. Well, what do they expect? He probably went thru a public school that was loath to fly the American flag, that taught him Christopher Columbus was evil, that America is racist, that he should hate the "Ugly American," that America is the cause of Latin American and Third World poverty. Why SHOULD we expect a kid "educated" that way to love America?

35 ON TOPIC - TSA clowns  and the Mythbuster guy carrying 12" blades...

Pretty sure that there is no requirement that TSA employees be of average or higher intellect.  They have been trained to recognize cartoon bombs such as the black ball with burning fuse on top (only if labeled "bomb") and the bundle of red sticks wired to an oversize wind up alarm clock with two bells on top (only if the sticks are red).

EOD guys are trained to recognize known  manufactured devices - if they don't recognize it then it isn't an explosive device.... conversely they know enough about IEDs to ascertain if a device could be an EOD if, and only IF, it is suspected to be an IED.

Using the current method of screening, but replace all your TSA clowns with well  trained EOD techs would change nothing. You simply cannot do 100% screening with the assumption that anything could be an IED - even the best EOD tech would have dozens of false positives a day and be burned out in one week.

Only profiling can improve security.

But I digress, the average TSA drone probably is of below average intellect... so what the hell are they looking for - fluids over such and such volumn, sharp and pointy things, guns, cartoon bombs. With pornoscan - anything that shows up other than flesh bits in the expected places. With the agressive 'alternate screen' rub-down - anything that shows up other than flesh bits in the expected places.

That is the best that can be hoped for with this method...

So what do they look for in shoes - make sure you put them flat and side by side... they are looking for one shoe that is not like the other.

So, if you really want to fuck with the TSA, were mismatched shoes - white sneaker, same basic style, but by two different companies will do it...

BET the red siren would be going off and all kinds of excitement going down.

Ya know, that's funny. I once worked with a guy that came into work early. He always pretty much dressed by the light of the bathroom as his wife was asleep at that hour.

Well, one morning he came into work with two different shoes on.

Trouble is, one had laces, the other was a slip on!

Boy, was his face red...

Better yet, wear identical shoes and just put a panty liner in one.

You could lift the insole of your roommates' shoe, slip something in and cause him a major headache if you felt like being a prick.

40 I am proud to say that I gave half of my pay to help President Obama bring down the debt. I made $13,567.78 last year as a insect and flower artist and donated half to a young president. He sent me a nice letter back thanking me and that if more people were like me then we can solve the debt problem created by Bush. We the people of Brattleboro are doing something about ore problems and  what do the rest of you do...Vote against him and elect those racist tea party clowns !!!!!

Here's something that struck me as hilarious.

Every once in a great while, when I get really bored, I go back and check out that blog many of us are familiar with, but I Shall Not Name. The one with the guy who had some sort of nervous breakdown a while back. Anyway, he had a post on that latest Palin gaffe that the lamestream media has been milking for all it's worth. His brilliant gem of wisdom on it made me laugh:

"Unbelievably pathetic. My opinion: she is seriously confused about the difference between North and South Korea. I don’t believe this was just a slip-up."

Wow. One might say much the same thing about your comment, actually, Chuck. "Unbelievably pathetic", "seriously confused", and "I don't believe this was just a slip-up". I wonder if this guy can still tie his shoes.
