The Skeptics' Case Against Global Warming
— Ace

Rebutting all the climate alarmists' theories and computer models, a skeptic presents his own theories and computer models.

Wait, did I say he presents theories and computer models. My mistake, I thought he was practicing the "New Science." Actually he presents the "Old Science" to make his case -- namely, actual observed data.

One of the better posts on this subject I've read, and very brief. Read the whole thing, and don't be put off by the graphs -- they're pretty simple.

And read the point about the conjectured hotspot in the troposphere, something that must exist if global warming alarmism is correct.

It doesn't exist. At all.

But so what, they say, rubbishing steps four and five of the scientific process (check theory against observed evidence, refine theory to better fit observed evidence).

So What?

Nyah nyah, we still control the major journals.

thanks to @comradearthur.

9 Jane,I posted this yesterday. "Joint Statement by the Delegations Assigned to Probe Bagram Incident," from the Government Media & Information Center of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, February 25 (thanks to Ray): In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate Following the insulting and shameful act of burning Quran in Bagram airbase that injured the religious sentiments of the Islamic world and particularly of the Afghan Muslim nation, two delegations comprising of representatives from government, the National Council of Ulemma and the National Assembly were assigned and dispatched to investigate the circumstances and causes that have led to the inhumane incident. The delegations, while deeply touched by the religious sentiments shown by the Afghan Muslim and Mujahid nation, inform our citizens of the following: 1. In view of the particular security situation in the country, we call on all our Muslim citizens of Afghanistan to exercise self-restraint and extra vigilance in dealing with the issue and avoid resorting to protests and demonstrations that may provide ground for the enemy to take advantage of the situation. 2. After the shameful incident by the US soldiers stationed in Bagram, senior NATO and American officials expressed their deep apologies to the Muslim nation of Afghanistan and assured that such incidents will not happen again. 3. NATO officials promised to meet Afghan nationÂ’s demand of bringing to justice, through an open trial, those responsible for the incident and it was agreed that the perpetrators of the crime be brought to justice as soon as possible. 4. The assigned delegations demand from the government of Afghanistan to take over from the Americans the authority of the Bagram prison so no such incidents can recur and calls on the US government to fully and comprehensively cooperate to this end. 5. The delegations also want from the Afghan government to formally praise those brave Afghan army soldiers and all others who showed feelings against the disrespectful act by preventing more religious books and Quran copies from burning, so that the pure Muslim sentiments of our honored Mujahid nation can remain alive.

11 4 what's the 500 degree wisconsin lake? Posted by: ace at February 29, 2012 09:13 PM (nj1bB) Someone digging through "warming data" being used from land temperature records and found "anomalies" like the daytime surface temperature of a lake in wisconsin being 500 degrees celsius. Of course, all the "errors" trended toward making recent averages higher than the past. The "500 degree lake" became a small-time internet meme for a while.

Let's face it, they were obeying orders. The men who gave the orders are too high on the ladder to be punished. This is Kabuki theater for Obama and the other cocksuckers in DC.

48 Karzai in the television address called the killing of the US soldiers “unfortunate” and “regretful.” He said the recalling of the NATO personnel was “a temporary measure”. “In situations like the burning of the Holy Koran, Afghan people show sentiments, if this was the reason for the recall, it is rational and if there are other security reasons involved, it is then up to them and we do not disagree on that,” Karzai said. “Later, once the issue (burning of Koran) is determined through proper investigation and once it is established on who was responsible for the crime, the (recall) issue would be resettled.”

57 Seven U.S. military trainers were wounded on Sunday when a grenade was thrown at their base in Afghanistan's north. Chants of "Death to America!" have come to characterize the protests and some demonstrators have hoisted the white Taliban flag. With few signs of the crisis abating, the U.S. ambassador said the United States should resist the urge to pull troops out of Afghanistan ahead of schedule. "Tensions are running very high here. I think we need to let things calm down, return to a more normal atmosphere, and then get on with business," Ambassador Ryan Crocker told CNN. "This is not the time to decide that we are done here. We have got to redouble our efforts. We've got to create a situation that al Qaeda is not coming back," he said. Under an international agreement, foreign combat forces are due to leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014, a process which is already under way.

65 OT: from the recent Politico article on why so many "moderates" are retiring from the Senate, and how sad it is that giants such as Olympia Snowe have had enough:

"“The sense is that the body has sort of lost its way, and ‘Do I want to spend six more years if I don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel?’” Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) said ....
Graham, who knows a thing or two about shifting between partisan and peacemaker, said the departures of Snowe and other veteran lawmakers is less about ideology than it is about dysfunction.

“It’s an institutional problem,” he said. “It’s just our inability to move forward on the big issues of our time.”"

Yeah, Lindsay, I would tell your constituents to go to hell and then retire.  That'll show'em.  You've got other offers, lots of them.  You don't need this.

Others retirees mentioned in the article are Lieberman (thrown out by his own party) Ben Nelson (D, whore) and Kent Conrad, who is retiring for who knows what reason.

The current state of political polarization is bemoaned by none other than Dick Lugar and Orrin Hatch.  IOW, a veritable who's who of weasels.  Beyond parody.

Through my careful scientific observations, I have discovered that the burning of a koran yields roughly 523 milliwatt hours of energy.  Considering there to be 1,570,000,000 muslims in the world I am estimating there to be at least one koran per muslim, though probably more, resulting in an energy source of about 821,110 kilowatt hours, or enough to power every vending machine in Tokyo for about 6 days!

Imagine trying to turn a winter day into a summer day - can't do it - beyond our capability. AGW claims we are doing by accident what we can't do intentionally - which makes it absurd.

84 I'm hoping that even Obama's lefty political-appointee generals won't quite go for actually handing over troops. Bowing and scraping, yes, but not handing them over for execution. They'd have to pretty much shut down the whole thing, the environment would be so poisonous that neither troops nor generals could trust each other as far as they could throw them. Then again, that's pretty much what McBumbletoes has done to the economy.

Given that it's been unable to explain the past or accurately predict the future, even calling it a theory is a stretch.

Wow.. novel concept.  Now all we have to do is get a bunch of guys who are making mega-bucks in grants from various governments together and have them renounce there own ridiculous theories, cutting off there own funding so we can have a "consensus".

Funny, stuff like F=MA never needed a consensus.  But I guess that's the new standard now.. lol

105 British Union Boss Threatens to Sabotage London Olympics The boss of Britain’s biggest public sector union has come up with a foolproof plan to roll back the spending cuts being imposed by the Conservative-led coalition government: sabotage this summer’s Olympics in London. Len McCluskey, general secretary of Unite, thinks the modest cuts (around three per cent in real terms over the term of this government) to public services are such a provocation the wrecking the games would be justified. “If the Olympics provide us with an opportunity, then that’s exactly one that we should be looking at,” McCluskey told the left-wing Guardian newspaper. He also called on members of the public to support striking workers with ‘civil disobedience’.

107 The religion of climate change is a way of manipulating people into the collective . We must all do this together, for the Earth.  Here are the doctrines. If you vary from the liturgy or  the ritual sacrifices, you are shunned.  You no longer get to act as free individuals because to make your own life choices would be to go against the common good, and result in the death of the collective.  At its heart it's communism with a side of pagan.

109 "Perhaps we could have a thread dedicated to suggestions of what may constitute a "more normal" Shitcanistan."

My suggestion?

1. Pull out every American Soldier, immediately, today.  Get them out of harms way.  Immediately, no delay

2. Park a few satellites in Geo-synch orbit to observe what happens post-pull out.

3. Identify every taliban leader, and where they end up once they know it's safe to return.  Give these fucking idiots who want to live in the bronze age time to get cozy and safe.  See which members of the current regime get cozy with the Taliban - my bet, your looking at pretty much all of them.

4.  Once they think there cozy and safe, we attack.  No warning, no 47 fucking UN resolutions, No begging for France, China or Russia to give us permission.  We launch anything that can fly and we completely obliterate every single one of these taliban leaders, anyone in the current government that supports them, etc.   No time for them to run across the Pakistan border and hide.  No way for them to retaliate, etc.  If our experts think we need a ground campaign too?  Ok, fine - again, no warning, no half assed lets not upset the natives too much" horeshit.  We take every Abrams we've got, get them there with no warning, roll in and blast the shit out of anyone that even looks at us crosseyed.  We don't try to take or hold shit.  We aren't there to make the cities safe, or rebuild crap, we are there to kill.  Period.  We wipe the fuckers out, then we leave.  Aghanistan is now your problem.  Enjoy the bronze age, kill each other with impunity, whatever.  Just know if you ever attack an innocent American civilian again, we will be back - and when we do we won't be nearly as kind or generous.

Collateral damage?  Sure.. there would be some.  Do we apologize for it?  Hell no.  Sorry, civilians die in a war.  Google Dresden.  Hiroshima, etc.. see for yourself.  Shit happens.  These folks were targeting are clearly dangerous, savage, evil people - and sadly yes, a few folks that maybe were just in the wrong place at the wrong time died too - but we didn't target them purposefully.  Happens.  Grow up, move on.

The moral difference?  Simple - when they attack us the target civilians and innocents on purpose.  The don't go after military targets, because there not soldiers, they are fucking dirtbags.

When civilians die because of us, it wasn't because we wanted it to happen, hell most of the time we go way out of our way to prevent it from happening.  But our new  policy is a simple one, we will no longer put a single member of our armed services at risk to protect your civilians.  If we can do it without risking our own, sure, we will.  But our troops rate much higher than your civilians - so understand this, you are the ones putting them at risk, not us.

Again, high time this country adopted a "Fuck with the bull, get the horns" foreign policy, and again, just my 2 cents worth - but we know from history this approach works.

The last occurring ~150,000 years ago

158 Lol.. well, just in case I prepared a speech for the UN, something I would do on day one of the SOS Presidency:

"Mr. President, Mr. Secretary General, fellow delegates, ladies and gentlemen: It is a great honor for me to be here today.  My message for you today is a simple one, one that is long overdue, one that will make our world a much better place for future generations.

My message, honored delegates, is this.  Get the fuck out.  Allow me to reiterate, for those of you sitting in the back, so that there are no misunderstandings.  Yes, I said get the fuck out.  Pack your shit, and go home.  As your landlord, we are informing you your lease is now at an end, you are no longer welcome, and we expect you to vacate immediately.

No longer will the United States continue to host, support, or fund this completely corrupt and totally useless organization.  If you wish to continue to have a UN, feel free to host it in one of your own countries, however be advised we will not participate.  I think anyone who has been here longer than a week is already well aware that it is a complete and total waste of time, energy, effort and money.

While I could spend hours, days, perhaps even weeks with a huge laundry list of reasons why the UN no longer deserves our support or participation, I think nothing sums it up more clearly than to point to April of 2011, when Syria became a member of the UN Council on Human Rights.

To claim that this body has any "moral" authority at this stage simply strains credulity.  As such you may no longer count on one thin dime of support from the United States, I'll give you a few days to pack, shred any documents you think will save you from later prosecution, and then we'll be shutting out the lights and locking the doors.  Please try to avoid allowing the door to hit you in the ass on the way out.

For those of you who have spent years thumbing your noise at, trying to embarrass or generally being a royal pain in the ass to the United States, feel free to drop by your governments accounting office when you do return home and tell them how much they will receiving in US Foreign Aid next year.  It's an easy number to remember.  It's zero.  If private US companies or some of our generous civilians want to try and aid the poor of your country I wish them well, however it will no longer be the business of the United States government to fund unfriendly governments of any sort.

Please feel free to gather in Geneva, or Paris, or anywhere else you wish.  Feel free to decry our actions, call us names, whatever you wish.  Honestly we could give a shit less.  In it's entire recorded history the UN has never performed a single useful action and almost always causes more problems than it solves.  It is the policy of this government that we will no longer subsidize such abject failure and stupidity.  Now, if you "honored persons" will excuse me, I have to return to the Oval Office, so that I can kill this monstrosity called Obama Care and fire a bunch of czars, hopefully in time to save my beloved country from complete bankruptcy."

Lol.. ya, not getting elected.. but, fun to think about nonetheless.. lol

160 #23? Jane, a friend of mine has a son that has been over to Stan and I do not want to break any rules from what she told me but it's worse there than we are told. If I ware GWB on 9/11/2001, I would have blown Afghanistan off the map on 9/12/2001. Too many lives have been lost and or ruined there and those Islamists don't appreciate it one bit! I will pray for your son. if Iran takes over when we're out, blow them both off the map as far as I'm concerned. My friend's son first went to Bosnia and when he came back he told her we should fence off that part of the world and let them kill each other off, they've been doing it for thousands of years, I will pray for your son. 161 > 4 what's the 500 degree wisconsin lake? Some see a small set of poorly processed data over an ice-covered portion of the Great Lakes that demonstrated how satellite thermal information can be abused. From a AGW viewpoint, it's just noise, but must be retained to show WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!! From a more professional viewpoint, it's just bullshit that points to the AGW bullshit.

164 I'm not sure if I believe in global warming or not. You see, as a cat -- I never get to go outside. And my master, is a complete computer-geekoid who certainly never goes outside (anymore).

165 As were the 400 degrees on a part of lake Michigan, etc. Posted by: Merovign, Dark Lord of the Sith at February 29, 2012 09:29 PM (bxiXv) What, you don't remember that? That day when Lake Michigan boiled away and five million people in Chicago and Milwaukee got incinerated by super-heated steam? Fuckin' tragic, man.

166 The alarmists have a new tactic, of mixing inarguably true facts, such as very modest warming from anthropogenic C02, with long dis-proven stuff like a positive feedback effect. Actual observation shows thereÂ’s a negative feedback from clouds. The strongest lies have some truth mixed in. But it reminds me of the recipe for cr*p ice cream. Take a pint of delicious golden vanilla ice cream, and thoroughly mix in a cup of human excrement. The whole thing will taste like cr*p, guaranteed.

168 The Skeptics' Case is the best link I've traveled in some time. And I travel them so much it's like they are nothin'. But this one was more than that. Thank you. Thank you all, each and every single last one of you.

169 byob1 bring your own beer 1 And indeed, to most any website on the intertubes I visit, if imbibing is part of my plan, I do, in fact in deed, bring my own beer. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

172 I told my dad when I was twelve:

"Don't worry about global warming, the heat will create more clouds which will reflect all the sunlight back into space."

Not far off.

Global Warming isn't happening

Ok it is happening but it's natural

Ok it is man made but it's not too bad

Coming up next: Ok it is bad news but it's all the environmentalists fault

Ain't evolution grand?

174 Skeptics aren't the ones who have to build a model. It's the brainiacs who claim to have the Great True Theory of Global Climate who have to explain how pollution traps heat in the atmosphere, which is then simultaneously, globally and unobservedly converted into something other than actual heat. Because the earth isn't grower hotter and hotter despite more and more greenhouse gases. I don't have to come up with my own Cold Fusion Reactor, to prove all those yet built are junk.
