What a horrible week (yeah, "ma-nish-tanah," right?). Well, at least it's Friday. Have a better one, at least until we lose the internet at the stroke of midnight. And speaking of Hebrew, L'shana Tovah to my fellow members-of-tribe in the Horde, and the rest of you gentle gentiles for a blessed and healthy 5777.

4 Pakistan Threatens Nuclear Retaliation I hope no one tries to stop those two from nuking each other this time. It would be contained and it's the only way to get rid of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal, since we've been too much the puss-boys to do it over the past 15 years.

That's just what we need a nuke war over there.  Another foreign policy win for the Choom.

9 The India-Pakistan definitely seems to be heating up.  Out of all of the places I expected WWIII to come from, that was actually pretty low on my list.  I guess events can still be surprising sometimes.

I just hope we can sit this one out, and don't get pulled in to bail out the Pakis (because India is on Russia's side, and the Powers That Be seem to want to get us into a furball with Russia for some unknown, gawdawful reason.)

Sefton at September 30, 2016 06:46 AM (9P3OG) No. It would stay between Pakistan and India. China would have no interest or need to toss any nukes in there. There'd be little left to nuke. Nothing in Pakistan and India would be busy for the next 40 years.

Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at September 30, 2016 01:48 AM (zc3Db)

13 Pakistan wouldn't last long in a fight with India. They're soft, that's why they resort to passive aggressive actions.

They don't want to win.  They want to lose, so they can then try to send out scare-mails and fundraise for more money to "keep fighting against (issue here)" when they've already surrendered and lost the whole damn thing.  They've figured out how to monetize failure and built careers of it.  Succeeding is alien territory to them, and dangerous.  Easier to stick with what you know.  Lose, beg, lose, beg, etc.

25 And yet, Gavrilo Princip. Posted by: J.J. Sefton at September 30, 2016 06:51 AM (9P3OG) Ha ... No, the subcontinent is not the Balkans. India and Pakistan happen to share a very restricted geography that could easily contain a few hundred nuke explosions without anyone even noticing. And if they want to nuke each other then that's up to them. As I said, you aren't going to get rid of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal any other way. If it isn't used there it will eventually be used somewhere else. And India is game for a nuclear exchange with them. After 9/11, when they were screaming at each other and threatening to nuke each other (which W should have stayed out of) India said, "Go ahead, we can survive your whole arsenal but you can't survive ours." (Seriously - the defense minister, I believe, actually said that). It's their game. Let them play.

<="">It's either that, or they are actively working for the Democrats and trying to further their agenda.  One or the other.  Then again, the conditions are not mutually exclusive, so possibly both.  You can't roll over and play dead as many times as they have, while being the "opposition party" without it being deliberate sabotage.

37 For a quick backgrounder on most events in former Mesopotamia, I always recommend T.E.Lawrence. Not that he's "right" about anything, but he certainly displays the mindsets that went into what we got and what it turned into.

Similarly, for India/Pakistan (and all too often /Afghanistan/"Kafiristan"), you need to read up on the history of "The Great Game." Because we're all playing it now.

IIRC the 1970 Indo-Paki War that created Bangladesh and a lousy concert album was feared to spread into a wider conflict. And it's what drove the Pakis under A.Q. Khan to get nukes in the first place. True the alliances are all different now, but without a very strong America to contain the fire - and with an emboldened Russia and China and the always unpredictable Norks, all bets are off. Thank you SCOAMF and Hillary and Kerry!

On the front page source - even though they are not displayed. Once you block those there is no longer any problem. I don't know what you are doing to block these but if you're still loading slowly then you haven't quite gotten the right thing. Keep trying. But it's what I printed above (and its buddies) that are the issue.

As far as working with other people, you sometimes can't tell if what you did was fruitless. God can. It's like that passage from the Scripture; You plant seeds and God gives the growth and sometimes you may not see the fruit till later or someone else may see the fruit. Tell God whatever you're feeling; God can handle it.

83 L'shanah Tovah to you too, J.J. As the blessing has it (I think), may you be inscribed in the Book of Life for another year. And, not that USA Today wasn't already fit only to be the lining in Michael Moore's ratty, feculent jockey shorts, I hear their editorial page has come out for the first time in their existence to blast Teh Donald as a "serial liar" unfit for the presidency. Oh, they try to put a fig leaf over their pustulent, reeking snatch by not "endorsing" Scankles, only urging readers to get out and vote, but a non-endorsement is still an endorsement in my book. I really hope those stories about Trump having a thin skin and not forgetting an insult are true; if he wins, there needs to be a yuuuuuge payback to the MFM.

97 This was a refresher for me ... Clinton lie in the debate.  She blames Iraq and Bush, of course.  LIAR ... and a carefully plotted lie, Clintonian.  Trump has to nail her on this stuff.

repeat from my ONT

... pretty big lie by Clinton, since she actually manufactured the condition where our troops allegedly would not have immunity. They wanted out so Clinton demanded greater immunity than before, greater than they have now. She demanded the parliament also approve it, which was always a no go.

"If only future debate moderators would ask her: What is the difference
in immunity offered by Iraq to U.S. troops in 2011 and today? And why
was that immunity not good enough then but good enough now?"

So she claimed we had to go, and blames Bush for setting that date (which, duh, new president can set his own friggin date), then blames Iraq government. A Clinton lie, they decided to boogey out, Hillary manufactured the excuse.  Maliki said "she wouldn't take yes for an answer".

Why did they leave 100s of Humvees for the JV ISIS?

The prevailing winds blow east to west and would carry fallout all over India first and cover most of SE Asia after that.  Not sure why India would Nuke Pakistan myself as they would get most of the nasty stuff, but it is Pakistan threatening them.

108 Those thinking they can flee to Canada should the election not go their way may not be so safe. Trudeau seems to be immigrant-friendly in the same way as Merkel:

The scandal over Canada's "minister of democratic institutions," Maryam Monsef, continues to deepen.  Originally, her story was that she was born in Afghanistan in 1985.  Now it appears she was born in Iran in 1984.

There's also inconsistent stories from her about whether she was ever a legal resident of Iran, which would have affected her ability to serve of Trudeau's cabinet. Trudeau is looking more like Obama all the time.

Trump may have saved the last honest non sleaze job she had.  She did get pretty beefy, broke the contract.

Having lived with periodic bouts of gout for 10+ years now, and refusing to go onto those medicines like allopurinol which you must take daily for life, FireHorse's reco is the same one I follow.

Mine is usually triggered by not drinking enough fluids, so I drink lots and lots of water and take ibuprofen (2-3 200 mg tabs) every 4-5 hours. It usually subsides in 4-5 days. Then I cut back on the water cuz I hate drinking it that much and get to rinse and repeat the cycle every 6 months to a year.

I've never been treated for it by a doc. What for? I know what causes it and what to do and that's enough.

One serious issue I have with their poll is they still show 20% undecided among likely voters.  25% of those said they would vote for Johnson if they had to make a choice.  That is a huge number and is very suspect at this point after the first debate.

(I have wondered if this is how the jihadis going to America and taking the citizenship test think..."I will check this box because it's expected of me and I do not wish to draw attention to myself, but this is so much bullshit...")

The most recent Olympics was a triumph for the US - winning the most medals with a team brimming with a Benneton ad-worthy diversity. So many proud moments of Americans proudly singing the anthem, shedding tears as they received their golds (and silvers and bronzes) and praising their country.

Then Colin Kaepernick starts the kneeling thing a month later.

What Obama just did is overwrite those proud Olympic moments with the anthem controversy.

He has so much ammo, so many great lines, on so many subjects.  He could have filled the last hour of the debate burying her, instead of defending the lame attacks from Holt.

The 100 million debate viewers are mostly low info the only know MSM news ... state clearly the emails showed she knew it was a terrorist attack, but for political reasons spread a lie that it was the video.  She blamed our free speech country.  Stevens had 100s of requests more more defense, troops were at the ready, silence from Hillary/Obama as they concocted their lie.

He has to have 50 of these soundbites memorized.  Gingrich was saying this yesterday ... give the biased question 10 seconds of rebuttal and pivot right to your own talking points.

But at times Trump seems more intent on saving his character than saving the campaign, and the western world.  The stream of consciousness works at rallies with fans.  He needs the Madison Avenue guys for the debates. imo

If we don't find a way to wrest our governments - every one of them around the globe, or so it seems - out of the hands of powerful interests and megalomaniacs, we a taking a huge risk with our future. If we can't figure out a way to work together on the problems facing us, we're finished - and try as I might to see where I am exaggerating, I just can't. We're in a lot of fucking trouble here.

251 I don't care that Hollywood people are endorsing Clinton - that's as predictable as the sun rising in the morning. What's interesting is that they are tying their political views to their products. This seems to be an unprecedented admission of their coordination w/the Dems to provide propaganda for DC.

One of Obama's legacies is his active recruitment of Hollywood to inject his latest policies into their plots, such as getting so many tv shows to promote Obamacare. That was more stealth than these franchises openly declaring "We're with her!", but a natural progression. Wonder if any of the Star Trek or Marvel people could correctly define "fascism".

265 The federal government won't let states require proof of U.S. citizenship before allowing people to register to vote. For all the obvious reasons. Arizona passed a law years ago requiring proof of U.S. citizenship before registering to vote. Obviously, AZ is a border state, and thousands of illegal aliens live here and there is no question that they are also illegally voting here too. That is unfair to legal citizens voting in AZ, because too often their votes are neutralized by the votes of illegal aliens. AZ tried to fix it by requiring people registering to vote to provide proof that they are U.S. citizens, and not just trusting them to be honest when they check the box to the question "Are you a U.S. citizen?" Illegal aliens routinely lie about being citizens. And they do so because they know that no one is going to verify their citizenship. They also know (because they are routinely told this by the "community organizers" . . . cough LaRaza cough) who register them to vote, that if they are challenged about their answer, just say "I didn't understand the question." Because perjury is a specific intent crime, it is almost never prosecuted unless there is a confession of criminal intent. So long as they claim they misunderstood the question, or that they made a mistake in checking the "yes" box, they won't be prosecuted. So they know they can register to vote illegally, and vote illegally, with nearly a zero chance of ever being caught or prosecuted for it. In 2013, the Supreme Court struck down AZ's law. But Scalia said the state could use a voter registration form that required proof of U.S. citizenship if it obtained the government's approval. The government has repeatedly refused to approve AZ's form. So illegal aliens can still register to vote illegally, and vote illegally, in federal elections in AZ.

314 A long time ago on Toronto's ethnic TV station I watched a Bollywood musical about one of the Indo-Pak wars mainly set around the Indian Air Force waiting for the weather to clear to attack the Paks. (There were English subtitles when characters weren't already speaking English like officers talking to each other.) It included a scene where after a Pak attack on an Indian trench and an Indian soldier comforting a dying Pak, the corpses in front of the trenches got up and did a song and dance number about the horrors of war! Unfortunately, I didn't VCR it or get the name to look it up for future use or linking. I actually enjoyed it.
