The Morning Report 9/29/17
— Open Blogger

ScaliseandZeros.jpg

Good morning kids. The weekend is here, and despite the fiasco of Graham Cassidy, on aggregate it was a pretty good week for America. The NFL's willingness to shill for Marxism and Balkanization has backfired spectacularly, the GDP has had over 3% growth for the second straight quarter after eight straight years of planned contraction courtesy of you-know-who, the DC Circus has surprisingly upheld concealed-carry and Steve Scalise made a surprise appearance in Congress yesterday 15 weeks after nearly being assassinated in a Democrat-inspired terrorist attack.

In other news, we talked about PDT's tax plan and Rush spent considerable time on his show discussing the pros and cons as well as Rush-splaining why the tax code is the way it is from the political standpoint. It is definitely worth a listen, especially to people who keep spouting off about "the rich," "the 1%," "greedy corporations" and "paying your fair share" --- a chicken that Chuck Schemer and his fellow goniffs have been plucking since time immemorial, because it's all they have really. Too bad the GOP-e believes that rhetoric too.

From hither and yon, F. Chuck Todd is either stupid, ignorant, lying or all three at once. Roy Moore, as expected, is taking withering attacks for having the gall to unseat an establishment pick as well as defending G-d and the Constitution. And Todd, the dolt, smugly derided Moore for being dumb enough to believe that your rights come from, get this, G-d and not the government.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, a programmable skin-job dialogue-spouter used her announcement of having breast cancer to push for single-payer healthcare. Listen, toots, if you think it's so great why the hell did you not make this announcement at the registration desk at a clinic in Liverpool, or even better, Havana?

Also, Jon Podhoretz is so enraged by Trump that he's now hawking Oprah as the savior of the nation in 2020, Dick Blumenthal is a dick, Pelosi had her umpteenth public brain freeze (not counting statements when her cerebral cortex is unimpeded) and Michelle Obama thinks women who voted for Trump go only where they're kicked.

Yeah, it raises the BP but the more shrill and loud they shriek, the more they are panicked by us and the President. Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

Uh, Michelle, maybe the women considered their own careers, and those of their husbands and considered who would be better at handling the economy and their future economic concerns. People vote on wallet AND purse issues. Ya dumbass.

26 Chucky Cheesedk can eat a BOD and polish it off with a bag of shit.  The average middle class tax payer who doesn't have a mortgage does not file anything but the standard deduction.   Raising that to 2400 is a huge tax cut.  I love it.  And best of all, Trump leaves in the mortgage deduction.  So if you have one you can still file the itemized.

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at September 29, 2017 02:24 AM (mpXpK)

27 What does 'endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights' mean to you, Chuck? How can rights be ''unalienable" if they're granted by government? How can there be 'human rights' If they're not rights based on you being human? Chuck is saying that there are only 'civil rights,' which must mean that how each individual government treats you is okay-dokey since they are the source of those rights. And the founding documents always use language barring the government from taking away rights, not creating them. But Chuck thinks he's one of the SMART SET.

43 If Oprah could win, she would have done it herself eight years ago. As it is, the Democrats putting up a black lesbian with an amusing weight problem would be a gift to Trump. Look guys, this isn't hard. Your candidate needs to be: 1) Part ot a success in state or federal government, or having a massive fan base outside politics (eg Kid Rock). 2) Cares about American workers to tangibly suppport items like the DOJ suit against H-2 visa abuse. 3) Popular and credible within their party. 4) Able to laugh at themselves. Of course, to be fair the Republicans have only Trump, but the Dems shut down people for more than a decade to clear the way for St. Hill. Oprah reinventing herself as down with the struggle would work about as well as Meg Kelly going from "respect me!" serious reporter to daytime talk host.

60 Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. Her birthday is actually tomorrow, but here is the Danish actress Valda Valkyrien: http://tinyurl.com/ybklleae She had a short career in Europe, but came over to America and settled in at the sadly-forgotten Thanhouser studio. In 1916, she signed with the Fox Film Corporation, but very quickly soured with the studio and sued for breach of contract. Parting with Fox, she attempted to start her own production company, but the effort failed and she ended up back at Thanhouser and other smaller companies. She retired from the silver screen, joining the Ziegfeld Follies for one season. She attempted a comeback in the 1920s, but failed. She married, and then retired from show business, dying in 1956. Here's a nice little review of her life: http://tinyurl.com/y8o75pqg She makes a brief cameo in my probably-never-to-be-finished book, The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of: As we walked into the canteen and headed for our usual table, my eye was caught by the sight of a thin, pale blonde sitting by herself in the farthest corner of the room. A soft white hand with long, slim fingers toyed with a spoon as she stared off into the distance. The sun was streaming through the canteen windows, and whether she meant it or not, it hit her like a key light, enveloping her in a golden halo. Thirsty saw me looking, and when he saw the girl, his eyes lit up. "Well, hello!" he whistled. "Are there any more at home like you?" "Easy, there, chisel chest," I grumbled as he puffed himself up. Theo looked over her shoulder. "Her name's Valkyrien, or something like that," she said. "She just came over from Thanhouser. And don't bother, Thirsty," she added as the actor adjusted his breastplate. "She doesn't understand a word of English." "How'd you like to be a star?" Thirsty smiled. "I bet she understands that."

And while we are certainly on the road to Single Payer, if we can get more Moores and the McStainses die off (figuratively and otherwise) we can perhaps stave off that outcome. There will always be sadly some sort of governmental interference in health care and insurance. The question is to what degree?

Yup, What I appreciate is Trump won the bigger battle: disrespect for the flag.

It may have started in the NFL, and thanks to their response it started poisoning the NFL, but this protest was spreading into other professional sports, school sports, and even recently seen in a league of 8 year old football players.

Trump turned the tide on the protest, and as you see today, a lot of the quotes from various NFL players , owners, coaches is "I respect the flag and our country, but..." That means Trump has made them separate the flag and national anthem from their protest. Yuuuuuge win. The only win that matters. The NFL can go screw.

Posted by: Mr. Peebles at September 29, 2017 08:06 AM (oVJmc) ___ It's better than a wash. Simple example Income of $50K Current standard deduction is $12K, taxable income of $38K The bottom rate now is 10% on the first $10K = $1K and then 25% on the rest = $7K. So total tax paid = $8K Under the proposed system, the personal deduction doubles to $24K. So taxable income is only $26K Bottom rate is 12% on the first $10K = $1200. Then 25% on the rest = $4K. Total tax = $5200 So for this example, it's a $1200 tax cut. But math is hard for the MSM

Northam ran an ad during the primary where he stated that he thought Donald Trump was a "narcissistic maniac." Gillespie has been doing the GOPe hey I am like him just not quite as much - Gillespie is #nevertrump, so he doesn't like Trump either, just hasn't called him a narcissistic maniac. Northam wanted to pull down all the Confederate statues in Virginia, Gillespie was like, well, you know, Virginia has often been on the wrong side of history so if people want to pull statues down, well, I won't stop them. (of note, the Overton window has slid, and Northam is now camping on Gillespie's position, and Gillespie arguing that the statues should not be removed but rather "contextualized.") Anyway, Gillespie just launched some anti-MS13 and anti-sanctuary cities ads. (BTW, Northam declares that there are no sanctuary cities in Virginia so it isn't an argument , but, umm, the Virginia city I used to live in, Fairfax, doesn't really agree with that). Posted by: The Great White Scotsman at September 29, 2017 08:12 AM (+Dllb) He campaigned in areas Mutt Rombley wouldn't bother with, like in a primarily black area not far from me. By doing that he probably helped depress the turnout for Curb Dive and it may have ultimately been the difference, which is completely lost on the GOPe finishing schools which turn out cookie cutter eunuchs.

The Progs can only win an argument if they obfuscate the facts. "Medical insurance" get conflated with "healthcare" and you have yourself a nice little recipe for "evil" people denying  "po' people" medical treatment.

As a country we used to have the ability to take care of our poor and provide medical care even to our most needy.

Obama fucked that up, too.

232 215 The only (half) black person the Dems could nominate that would drive turnout is Dwayne Johnson. Posted by: Hikaru at September 29, 2017 08:16 AM (WDCYi) The big question is once Johnson steps out from his celebrity persona and talks issues and politics, what will that sound like both from an intellectual and emotional standpoint? If he runs as a Democrat, he's going to have to spout the hard Left line and that is perhaps going to destroy his image. He might want to tack away from that but if he does, he'll lose his base. Right now, Trump is unstoppable at least in the court of public opinion, especially his base. It's the GOP and the Leftists that are taking a beating, mostly because of opposition to the agenda. Shorter Sefton: unless PDT caves/reverses himself on a key issue and is seen to be doing so, then he is so far unstoppable, IMHO.

Like most in entertainment, she's got the George Costanza disease and wants everyone to love her - which means she is bound to collapse like a cheap lawn chair as soon as she starts taking some serious verbal abuse, which she would. Democrats are desperate to find the Obama magic again, run an unknown black face who can sound kind of moderate and trick voters into supporting him or her. 340 "They're establishing a narrative: if rights are granted by government, then government can tweak those rights. " And the leftists supporting that idea don't even know or understand how old an idea that is. In the medieval monarchies of Europe, stretching back to the days of the late Roman Empire - yes, even in Great Britain - "rights" were things granted to the peasantry from the beneficence of the All Seeing, All Knowing, All Powerful Monarch (or Emperor, as the case may be) - a gift for which the peasantry must be endlessly grateful and obedient. The Founders of the US, notably Jefferson and Madison, said this was horseshit - that monarchs throughout history had simply usurped the powers that were every mans birthright, from God, and that it had always been a moral and legal perversion for any of them to have asserted that this "granting" of rights which were never theirs to give conferred upon them any authority at all. They were noting more than thieves attempting to get credit for giving back a small portion of what they had stolen. So, F. Chuck Todd and the lefts position on the source of rights quite literally undermines every principle this country was founded on.

Which is why I am dead set against a national reciprocal license to carry law.

the government can take away.

.
.We are way passed that point.  I for one would love a National Carry Reciprocity Law.

I am planning a trip next Summer and all of the various State laws are a nightmare for someone planning to travel and carry.  Luckily I am from Texas and quite a few States accept our LTC but I have to stay away from the entirety of new England (except NH) and have our son who lives in CT meet us in PA or OH if I want to carry on this trip.

The only other thing I would support is National Right to Carry law, no permits no background checks, nothing, but that is never going to happen.

A few States are going that way but I doubt they will ever be a majority.   And you know there will never be a Blue State that would do away with permits.

412 Chuck Todd (bless his heart) has inadvertently opened the door to the real "national conversation" we should be having. This widespread misconception that "rights come from government" is the core principle of progressive indoctrination that has been (mis) taught for at least a generation. The whole concept of natural rights and limited government, per the Declaration, and as our founding principle has been turned on its head. This is a huge opportunity for some real education on the subject if SOMEONE would take it up and talk directly to the American people. Talk radio does it to an extent, but that is largely preaching to the choir. DJT is doing an admirable job (with flaws) but we really need a current generation of Newts, strong Governors, Senators, etc who can make the case directly to the people, which at this point means having to provide a little basic civics of the type that is no longer taught in school.

456 WW is one step up from a Nork starvation diet. Tried it. Was hungry every meal. And the food had no real flavor. You sure that was Weight Watchers? WW has a points system (they tweak and rename it several years) and you can eat whatever food you want, as long as you track your points. Men (even of the same weight and height) get more points then women (and a lot of fruits and things have zero points), so you shouldn't be starving. (The WW food they sell is part of the business- they have pre-calculated point values. Part of the meetings are basically sales pitches, because it's a business, but you don't need to buy any.) Anyway, I lost over 50 pounds over three years on it, and the weight is still off. And it wasn't even that hard. Just a little self control and rebalancing (less of some things, more of others).

461 402 Eh, Oprah and The Rock may look like formidable candidates right now - and they are because of their popularity and "good guy" reputations - but in two years people probably won't want another celebrity as POTUS.

Just as Obama was the opposite of W, and then Trump was the opposite of Obama, people will probably crave someone who is the opposite of Trump, not a better version of Trump.

Posted by: Lizzy at September 29, 2017 09:08 AM (W+vEI)

Let the dems think that Trump was elected because of his celebrity or notoriety.  It just shows that they remain truly clueless.  What made Donald Trump so successful is keen instinct and the ability to negotiate the swamp without getting his shoes dirty.

He keeps, and we keep winning, even if it isn't the big fireworks producing walk-off grand slam, one day we will all wake up and recognize that holy crap, America is back baby.  Americans want good fortune to continue, and replacing Presidents with a polar opposite is a common occurrence when things are going poorly.  Pappy Bush was supposed to be the extension of Ronald Reagan, when he proved he wasn't, that got you Perot and Clinton.

She is a lifestyle guru, and sort of non-denominational spiritual leader to a lot of women. I know, I don;t get it either, but she has spent decades teacher her audience how to be better people, and it sells. She is a very positive person who encourages her audience to be better, etc. So much of what she touches becomes successful, such as her book club selections, the shows of her chosen experts (Dr. Oz, et al.), businesses she endorses. Like Martha Stewart, she created an empire, more touchy-feely than Martha's. A lot of people are buying it.

Is it me or does anyone else notice that the one person who has been oddly silent during all this is Colin Kaepernick?

----

Kaepernick is the worst martyr for a cause that I've ever seen. First he kneels, specifically against the raycisst flag. He then makes it worse by wearing his "cops are pigs" socks and giving uninformed anti-American rants while wearing a Castro shirt. He then walks away from a guaranteed contract (though the team was probably gonna cut him anyway) and on March 2nd, declared that he was done kneeling, awareness had been raised, and he needed a paycheck. In other words, he sold out his "movement". Somebody is obviously telling him to lay low because if he resurfaces it would probably make things worse for them.
