The Morning Report 7/27/18
— Open Blogger

hellyes.jpg

Good morning kids. Here comes the weekend so let's get right to it. Full disclosure, I got a late start this morning but the Marginal Thinking Department in the parentheticals should fill in some of the blanks. Mueller Witch Hunt category tops the news where as expected stooge-shill-schmuck Paul Ryno threw cold water on any attempt to impeach Rod Rosenstench. Despite the fact that at minimum his appointing of Robert Mueller to head this investigation when he, Rosenrimmer, was the one who okay'd the FISA warrant on Carter Page knowing it was a sham, is grounds to recuse oneself, Ryno declared with absolute certainty that his behavior was nowhere near rising to the level of an impeachable offense. In my own words, go fuck yourself.

All that said, there are a number of pundits who are stating that going ahead with an attempt to oust the Arnold Stand-looking crook is politically dangerous, and I believe even Mark Meadows who was one of the leaders of the effort is backing away. But Mark Levin among others gives his full-throated argument in favor. Meh, the beat goes on and with absolutely nothing of any substance to nail PDT or his associates with vis a vis the original accusation of colluding with Russia to "interfere" (and that word there is pregnant with meaning) with the 2016 election, Mewler is going after the President for his Tweets. Yes, gentle reader, his Tweets. Communications that are public and broadcast to millions of people in the open. Unless any of them contained the phrase "John has a long mustache" or "verwundte mein herz mit eintonige matischkeit" this is all just yet another in a long line of "squirrel!" deflections and illusions. In somewhat related news, the Tweet strategy is now being used by the Left to go after the President's new policy of adding the citizenship question to the 2020 Census, claiming that his crowing about it somehow proves racism or some such piffle, and naturally an Obama-appointed black-robed hack is allowing the suit to go forward. And this is the same crap that was used to derail the travel ban.

They've got nothing, they never had anything and they will never have anything with which to legally and legitimately remove this President from office. But of course, the beat goes on. As I have stated numerous times here or in the comments on other threads, Donald Trump could win reelection in 2020, help the GOP win all 100 seats in the Senate, all 500+ in the House, push the Dow over 40,000, reunite Korea, liberate Iran, cure cancer, walk on water and pay off the national debt and it will mean nothing to these people. He will be hounded for the rest of his life, and then they will try to destroy his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, wipe out his business empire and whatever legacy he leaves behind as retribution for stealing their thunder and making them look like fools for all the world to see. The other reason is as a warning against anyone who thinks they can do what he did and go against the Deep State elitist-globalist enterprise.

'Nuff said on that score. I will not deal with Michael Cohen as it is a distraction and nothing-burger. Meanwhile, in news about real criminality, amorality and miscellaneous meshugas, Rand Paul is gunning for John Brennan, Joey Bidet's niece gets let off the hook on a felony conviction, and yes Russia has always meddled in our affairs, many times with the willing participation of Dems and Leftists.

On to politics where Jim Jordan, one of the few decent people in Congress, has announced his bid for Speaker of the House. Tough row to hoe considering the Coup-Cucks-Clan RINOs. Loopy Ocasio-Fiasco continues to spew ahistorical bilge as the old-guard Dems do their best to distance themselves from Socialist taint (figurative and otherwise), big mega-donors have raised some big bucks for what they think are competitive races, Scott Walker's not polling well in his bid for a third term as Wisconsin's Big Cheese (yeah, polls, but still), Grandma grand mal Palsi's dentures are not cooperating with hilarious results (yet again), and as we near the midterms, with their party in open revolt with itself, they seem leaderless and adrift, crazy-eyed cuchi-cuchi girls from the block notwithstanding.

On to Amnesty, where the GOP-e's new asylum rules are a big f-you to we the people, the Feds are nabbing illegals in fake ID and bennies scams and despite the Marxist pedigree, Mexico's president-elect is seemingly going to try and stop the flow of his citizenry over our border. Trump effect, I'd wager.

On the international scene, the NorK's have returned the remains of US soldiers from the Korean War, although the US minister was released from prison to house arrest, Erdogan is mouthing off at PDT (a big mistake, pal), reporters for Aussie ABC are saying that the US is planning airstrikes against Iran's nuke facilities (neither confirmed nor denied as of this writing by the White House), the State Department is sabotaging Congressional efforts to go after Islamo-fascists who use human shields, just like the Palestinians did in setting up a sniper ambush against Israeli soldiers near Gaza, and Billy Carter's stupid brother opened his cake-hole and halitosis emerged.

Domestically, the NY Slimes and AP are now digging up dirt on Brett Kavanaugh's wife, the EPA is now going to reverse course and enforce an Obama-era regulation on truckers, taxes on cigarettes, junk food and soda leaves the poor hardest hit ("For the People!"), and the Illinois pension crisis is going to affect other blue shit-hole states which will in turn cause them to do what they did and effectively destroy their housing market to pay it off. Get out now, people.

From hither and yon, the NY Times claims the Toronto shooter had nothing to do with ISIS despite all the evidence and ISIS taking credit, Jonathan Chait goes against the Body and gets blasted, Daniel Greenfield with another great essay on how we are all politicians now, and Bruce Thornton at Frontpage Mag echoing how we all feel about taking the rhetorical gloves off and going after the Left with a dose of their own medicine. Concur on that one.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

13 I'm kind of piecing together what probably will happen with the new upper
decker being vomited forth by Mueller from that snake Cohen that Trump
knew of and approved the meeting with the Russian lawyer that Don Jr
attended.

There is nothing illegal about any part of the meeting and even if Trump lied he wasn't interviewed about it in any official or legal forum or under oath, BUT....

Don Jr was interviewed by Mueller's team probably under oath and said his father had no advanced knowledge of the meeting, Cohen's testimony will contradict that so Mueller is going to charge Don Jr with lying to investigators and obstructing justice more commonly known as process crimes with no other underlying crime.

Doesn't matter if there is no one else to corroborate Cohen's testimony, Don Jr will be charged and indicted, the process is the crime and will put the screws to Trump ala Flynn when Mueller threatened his son.

What is going on is as antithetical to justice as can be imagined.

Jeff Sessions is a disgrace.

45 Trump! 3 part tweet this morning. Arrived back in Washington last night from a very emotional reopening of a major U.S. Steel plant in Granite City, Illinois, only to be greeted with the ridiculous news that the highly conflicted Robert Mueller and his gang of 13 Angry Democrats obviously cannot find Collusion... ....,the only Collusion with Russia was with the Democrats, so now they are looking at my Tweets (along with 53 million other people) - the rigged Witch Hunt continues! How stupid and unfair to our Country....And so the Fake News doesn't waste my time with dumb questions, NO,.... .....I did NOT know of the meeting with my son, Don jr. Sounds to me like someone is trying to make up stories in order to get himself out of an unrelated jam (Taxi cabs maybe?). He even retained Bill and Crooked Hillary's lawyer. Gee, I wonder if they helped him make the choice!

I expect the same jackholes who managed to overestimate Obama's GDP numbers every month, only to be revised downward, will depress the number a few tenths to keep it below 5. Revised number will 5.2% My source for these numbers? Completely made up, but I have been watching company after company beat earnings estimates the last two weeks, So I'll take the Atlanta FED estimate and add 15% or so, and 4.2% becomes 4.9%.

And stopped adding to the existing pensions, but upped the 401k match to 100% and is adding an extra 10% of salary to our 401ks at their own expense for people with 10 or more years with the company, so it comes out a wash for me, presuming the stock market doesn't crash again.

63 Shooting fish in the barrel: It's obvious at this point the media, Democrat Party, and the Deep State, to the degree any of these factions are distinguishable, have colluded and conspired together to try to overturn the 2016 elections. The upside is none of those three ever will be trusted again, and it's likely this conspiracy has been going on since the end of World War II if not earlier... The only real consistent ally the president has in Establishment is the Freedom Caucus and a few here and there like Sen. Rand Paul. The biggest "fuck you" to him and those of us who support him actually came from Congress this week with the basic abolition of any restrictions on asylum claims.... Related to the second point, Ryan transparently is cashing out, as is Yoder and company trying to sell illegals for cash. This can be cleaned up after they are gone... Everyone who worked in the State Department, DOJ/FBI or the IC under either Obama or Bush has to be considered an enemy of the people. Remember their names when they go to peddle their treason in the private sector. Rant off. Thanks for the links as always, JJ. The ridicule one has my attention now.

67 the Tweet strategy is now being used by the Left to go after the President's new policy of adding the citizenship question to the 2020 Census, claiming that his crowing about it somehow proves racism or some such piffle, and naturally an Obama-appointed black-robed hack is allowing the suit to go forward. And this is the same crap that was used to derail the travel ban. -- And that's the whole point we all know. Succeeding in the end is not the goal...as much as it is to simply derail and derail and derail Trump's initiatives and agenda until he's out of office. 70 re: that map from the previous thread. Dunno if it's supposed to try to dishearten or just a result of the out of control gerrymandering, but... We live just outside Akron. Like I can literally stand at the end of my driveway throw a rock from our township and have it land inside the city limits. Our precinct is fragmented and has no less than 5 "islands". There's 6 voters, I think, in our island. Us, Mrs IMG's parents, and our other neighbors. Our precinct is a "lean Trump". To the south, it goes up a few points. To the north, up a few for Hillary. A couple miles away is the hood (a housing project inside the city limits) which was predictably 80%+ Hillary. So, the main part the precinct is on the boundary between urban Dem and suburban Rep. The map says we are "surrounded" by Clinton voters. Not true. I suspect the algorithm is purposely tweaked to show such an outcome.

I'm not at all confident it can be drained, which obviously is a metaphor for restoration of constitutional governance. China is becoming even more totalitarian and using increasingly effective methods to oppress and control its population. There are very powerful elements within D.C. planning to do some reverse intellectual property theft if things get too hot and deploy those tools and methods here... That said, my Dad was the wisest man I've ever known. Shortly before he passed away last autumn, he was confident the United States would survive, i.e., the swamp would be drained over time. Some folks were talking about Trump draining the swamp and fixing Washington within a year back in November of 2016, and I know that there is some overlap between that school of thought and those currently going berserk every morning over the apparent lack of progress in DC. I also remember some folks - one in particular - going into paroxysms of anxiety and declaring Trump's presidency a failure over some little thing three or four months in, and I and a couple others having to tell them to just be patient let Trump do his thing. I think time has proven the wisdom of that approach.

226 @174
Pretty much everything leaks, so if anything was going on behind the scenes to smash the deep state and bring the conspirators to justice we would be hearing about it.

I'll cut to the chase.

NOTHING IS GOING ON BEHIND THE SCENES TO DESTROY THE DEEP STATE.

Has Strozk been fired? His clearances pulled? NO!

Has McCabe been indicted? NO!

Has Comey been indicted? NO!
Has Clapper, Brennan, Rice, et al been indicted? NO!

Ok, we somehow got a heavily redacted FISA warrant released that clearly shows crimes were committed by the FBI and DOJ in obtaining the warrant, has  anyone been or will be indicted for it? NO!

Will Rosenstein be impeached for lying and stonewalling congress? NO!

We even have the supposed AG saying heckuva job Rosey, Incredible.

So by my estimation, absolutely nothing has happened to crush and smash the Deep State cabal that attempted to steal an election and after which they would have surely indicted Trump on manufactured charges and having  failed that are now executing a slow rolling Coup D'etat...

And nothing will...

Because the entiery of our LE, IC apparatus and political parties want Trump gone and are doing everything in their power to make that a reality.

244 Re: EPA and the Glider Truck emissions regulations, with that article I can finally see what the actual fight is about.. Like so many of the mini-environmental battles, it is actually a corporate war disguised as an environmental issue, with one group of corporations attempting (successfully, so far) to knock down their competitors. (biggest example I can think of is the incandescent light bulb ban, which was always an "op" run by Phillips and other large manufacturers) So with the Glider Trucks, Volvo and other new truck manufacturers are pissed off that this aftermarket company in the US can build trucks with refurbished drivetrains, and that these refurbished trucks are both cheaper and more reliable than the new trucks that Volvo and other big manufacturers are selling. So they want the US government to make the cheap, reliable trucks illegal so purchasers will have to buy their overpriced junk. And undoubtedly they've been making significant "contributions" to the Right People, just like Phillips did to the Bush administration when they got their way. And sadly but not surprisingly, that is what most environmental "regulation" is really all about in the end.

Posted by: Notorious BFD at July 27, 2018 08:44 AM I read up a bit last night, and it appears to have come from the (fear, belief, speculation) that a lot of companies had moved some activity, purchases and sales, into the just ending quarter from the coming quarter, in order to avoid the impact of new tax and tariff regs. There was no actual way to measure whether or not this had happened, or in what degree, except to wait until the numbers came out, so it made this quarter's number very difficult to calculate in advance. If their *had* been a transfer of economic activity from one quarter to the other, it would have simply been a one-off and depressed the next quarters numbers, so it's better overall that it looks like it didn't happen as much as was feared/speculated.

268 Peter Strzok testified to Congress behind closed doors. He pissed off Republicans so much they brought him back to testify publicly where he obfuscated, lied and pretended he couldn't answer a bunch of questions because the FBI prevented him from doing so. His public testimony was a flat disaster. The next day his former "lover" Lisa Page began the first of 2 days of closed door testimony to Congress. Guys like Mark Meadows came out and said she was cooperative, rarely deferred to the FBI lawyers who were with her (for some reason which is odd because she no longer works for the FBI ..clue) and contradicted Strzok's testimony while providing new avenues to pursue. Republicans were so pleased with her testimony they said public testimony wouldn't be necessary but they announced that they would be recalling Strzok after the FBI told them that many of the question Strzok said he couldn't answer they had no objection to. Strzok and Page have been under investigation by both the IG and a federal prosecutor for a year now ever since their text messages were uncovered. Page was allowed to resign from the FBI, Strzok is still there under FBI control. Page is cooperative, Strzok is not. Anybody really think all of this is just happening randomly?

Taken together I can only conclude that there's a market for this information that people working for companies sell on the sly. Your contact info has to be provided to marketers, spammers, scammers, etc, who you NEVER heard from before you made the new contacts. It can't be coincidence and I know this can't be happening to just me.

Question is, do companies know employees do this with customer information?

300 Study warns plastics could be shrinking penises ======== And really, that's not what the actual article says at all. It only talks about babies being born with a defect where the opening in on the underside of the glans rather than the tip. The other is a shortening of the distance between the anus and scrotum/penis. It's a poorly written article which at one point makes you believe that pregnant women exposed to these "chemical" could cause fetal damage like I mentioned above. However, at another point, it mentions a Swedish study of the effects on young males? I'm not a doctor, scientist or geneticist, but I don't think that there is anything that can shorten an already-born male's penis short of interventions from surgery or Lorena Bobbit.

302 The entire leadership of the DOJ and FBI has been removed and replaced. That's draining the swamp and it never would have happened without this counter investigation.

Nonsense.  The investigations only exist because the President and Congress, specifically Devin Nunes, have been unrelenting.  If for a moment the DOJ thought they could get away with pretending this away, they would.  The proof of this is their continuing efforts to redact embarrassing material, officially lie to Congress with impunity, withhold evidence under specious claims of relevance and/or importance to other investigations, and downright obstruct justice.

You are living in a dream world if you believe, as you seem to still think, there is any force of good at work in the DOJ.  There is nothing to support your view other than your good intentions and hope for the future.  No actual evidence.

That might not matter to him if he gets a plea deal.

Mueller really doesn't want a prosecution.  He wants to force people to his proscribed outcome, and he'll do that through leaks and public political damage.

Mueller won't care if Cohen or Jr. go to jail, as long as he can use them in the squeeze on Target #1.

355 268 Peter Strzok testified to Congress behind closed doors.

Posted by: JackStraw at July 27, 2018 09:05 AM (/tuJf)

Maybe we could get a non random hammer to drop soon and put an end to this farce.  Otherwise, Kreplach is underselling.

We have been promised so often by the RINO's that the cavalry is coming and it never shows, its hard to believe this is not all part of the same gambit.....pretty much because it looks and acts like the same gambit on til the one magic day that the trap is sprung.

Hilary's secret server (including destruction of FOIA'd and and subpoenaed evidence) crew skates in less that one week after being forced into an interview with the reluctant FBI.

PDT Jr is on the rocks after the FBI/Spec Council raids Trumps attorney  and pressure's him to "flip" and nab PDT jr on a process crime.

So yeah.  SSDD.  Call me when the worm has turned.

356 354 >>Serious question here - have the people fired lost their pensions? Because to me, if you get fired and still collect your retirement money, that's no punishment at all.

Yes.

Posted by: JackStraw at July 27, 2018 09:44 AM (/tuJf)

In most companies it depends on whether of not your pension is "vested".  If it is vested you get the money, if not then no you just lose it.

It just seems optimistic because of all the burning hear and screaming that takes place here daily. Posted by: JackStraw at July 27, 2018 09:33 AM (/tuJf) You do an admirable job of keeping me arguably sane but there are still some unanswered things that bug the fuck out of me, specifically Paul Manafort's incarceration for having committed no crime. I don't care if he's the slimiest fuck in the world; that is a police state tactic and I don't know how Jeff Sessions isn't ultimately responsible for that.

360 I can't say it enough, get out and vote in November. Bring a friend, grandma, shut ins you may know, the dog, everyone. The specter of a Democrat Majority House looms over us with a complete shutdown of all the gains we've made, a complete cover up of the Democrats Russian Election Subversion, open borders, lawless cities and an attempt at impeachment on the table. Do not underestimate the threat. I've seen some of the internals and they're not promising in key races. Do not be complacent, damn it.

361 Much of what JackStraw says does make sense to me. But I have a bit of trouble with this: "He could hire the guy he also hired, Sessions deputy Rod Rosenstein. He hasn't. He hasn't declassified virtually any of the documents related to this investigation and not one of you who say nothing is happening has ever given a reason why these things aren't happening. Instead you scream about Sessions and Rosenstein instead of the guy they work for. Why is that? " (OK, ignore the "hired" typo.) The fact is that Rosie has been blatantly dishonest in his dealings with Congress. That's not inaction. That's outright defiance. And it's in an entirely different category from complaints about Sessions. This is a cover-up. The ONLY reason I can see for not firing him is the difficulty of getting someone new confirmed.

362 I've always said, for example, that I did not like the special prosecutor during the Clinton years. It's a constitutional subversion and a tool never meant to be part of our republic. It puts power in the hands of people who are not elected and not under the control of the people. Irrespective of whether the executive branch can fire this person, or Congress can cut off funding, the authority it is given is not power the constitution meant to, or indirectly put in their power. It's ultimately a subversion of the people's power and outside the normal checks and balances that were deliberately put in the constitution. In fact, if you read Madison's notes, the Federalist Papers and the Anti Federalist Papers it is a culmination of the worst fears manifested in reality.

363 325 Comey is gone, but Wray is no improvement. McCabe is gone, but Rosenstein is still there. Posted by: JAS at July 27, 2018 09:26 AM (3HNOQ) Mostly correct. But I'm not sure Wray isn't a bit better than Comey. More useless than malign. His solution to bias is training classes? That really sounded like something out of Yes, Minister. What's next, new cover sheets on the TPS reports?

364 I forget who said it first but I think the truest characterization of the Mueller Sh*t Show is that it's become a prosecutorial pyramid scheme. He must keep expanding the charges and targets to continue to justify his existence, and legitimacy, because he has no case against anyone that justifies his mandate. The key to shutting this down is to make the legal equivalent of a "margin call." Congress (hear me future Speaker Jordan?) must (a) define, and (b) rein in his mandate. Legislate that only high level Trump campaign officials (and define them) knowingly violating US law, with aid of foreign nationals, in order to subvert the election, is the only legitimate target for any investigation. And, include a provision requiring Mueller to show Congress (in secret if necessary) the actual US law it believes was violated before being authorized to subpoena any more witnesses or evidence. And, put a time limit on it. You've had more than a year. Put up in 30 days or shut it down.

365 Probably not the most popular view around here but Rosenstein and the FBI is partially correct in holding back some documents. I think you need the perspective that there is a dance going on here by both sides. I won't say either is ubiquitously correct. Certain documents are almost never released during an active investigation- which this is. DoJ of course doesn't want to tip off the investigatory direction, nor do they want to confirm or deny certain aspects until the investigation is complete. These things take time to be completed. However, I would also state their part of the dance is to hold such e if it back as long as possible in order to cloak where the investigation is going. That appears to be part of what's going on here. Conversely, Congress under its investigatory power has an interest in dumping it all on the table. So they make broad requests where at least some of it they know is outside the boundaries. We have a collective interest in moving this forward because it is a complete subversion of our justice and electoral system carried out by the Democrats and underwritten by the last Executive Branch. It's a disgrace and stain on our nation by people who right now are projected to win the House. The wheels of justice turn very slowly and this is no exception. Irrespective, I believe this is one of the biggest scandals in our history, and a win by the perpetrators in November could very well complete the cover up.

366 The Blue state housing bubble article is the most frightening thing I've read in a while. The one example the writer gave of the person whose $10,000 a year property tax bill more then doubled should put fear into the hearts of everyone. They just don't give a fvck.

367 When Democrats were in total power across the land they made pensions part of most state constitutions and you cannot diminish them in any way. Like NJ for instance. Posted by: Kreplach at July 27, 2018 07:56 AM (FquqN) And Illinois. Eternally screwed.

===================
I think of it as slightly delusional.  At this stage, with silent-Huber stalking the hallways in Salt Lake and not D.C., with the OIG investigation having delivered no body-blows to speak of (and no one should count forced early retirements and reassignment to HR as anything other than a slap on the wrist), and increased latitude to the Mueller Star Chamber only the delusional would think else wise.

Posted by: ck at July 27, 2018 08:48 AM (GXRoa)

373 Yes, the GOP needs a strong conservative as Speaker, but we need someone with the strategic savvy of Mitch McConnell, who for all his faults is exceptionally adept at WINNING. One can assume Jordan is innocent regarding contemporary knowledge of wrongdoing at OSU while recognizing that he was woefully unprepared for a scandal he should have been equipped to handle immediately. Especially given GOP problems w/ Mark Foley and Denny Hastert, it's simply unforgivable for Jordan to be caught flat-footed. In leadership it won't do to simply be conservative, we need a ruthless winner, certainly someone at least prepared for the obvious. Jordan is not that person.
