The Morning Report 6/30/17
— Open Blogger

Steinle.jpg

Good morning, kids. As we close out the week and the first half of 2017, our top stories this morning center on immigration. On the plus side, the House yesterday passed two bills, one Kate's Law, named after Kate Steinle who was shot and killed by an illegal alien two years ago tomorrow, and the other a bill cracking down on so-called "sanctuary cities, a judge in Houston did his duty and revoked the citizenship of a criminal sex offender, and the temporary travel ban finally went into effect yesterday with only token protests from the usual gang of stooges. On the down side, Texas and nine other states are threatening to take the Federal government to court if it does not end DACA.

Also of note are lone voices of justified protest in a sea of silence; Chuck Grassley is probably the only one in the GOP to be yelling about Andrew McCabe's glaring conflict of interest and Maria Bartiromo is the only one with the figurative balls to confront Clinton henchman John Podesta about his real and criminal ties to Russia, to which the always classy Podesta responded by shrieking at her to STFU.

And of course, what would a Morning Report be without Maxine Waters displaying her intelligence and charm? Have a safe and wonderful 4th of July holiday, come back with all your limbs intact, read the Declaration (and weep silently, considering the state of the nation) and enjoy. Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

PS: Get your recipes in for the Moron Cookbook by midnight tonight!

22 Ah, the life of a Clinton loyalist. Every day, another witness to suborn, another donor to shake down, another ordinary person to abuse, another payoff to make. And now, it's all for nothing. Hillary Clinton will never be President of the United States. And when they go to their Maker and have to give an accounting of the life He gave them, all they will be able to say is, "I was a bagman for the Clintons," before they are cast into eternal torment.

69 I saw where a bunch of morons were wondering if illegal aliens were felons in another thread. I don't think that single act is (although I could be wrong), but they would be if they're committing identity theft and forging fake documents to work. The best part, and probably the more effective approach, is that aiding illegals is a felony. Go after those people. Note that other illegals fall under that category.

102 Good morning everyone! I've been pushing back a bit on people who have been looking forward to the "4th of July holiday." I keep saying "yes, I think INDEPENDENCE DAY is an important holiday." The radio news on the drive in this morning devoted time to assure us all that Slow Joe Scarborough and his...whatever she is...are both "doing fine after the President's Twitter rant." Even devoted time to have her say how tough she is. Odd...no mention of the continued crap both of them have been shoveling in the other direction prior to this "rant." I don't recall this news organization worrying about whether Trump is doing fine after being the target of so much vitriol. On the personal front, I've been continuing working on my own well-being. Yesterday was a bad day and I backslid somewhat. I'm trying to stop dwelling on my demons and work toward getting rid of them. It's a goddamned uphill battle that never stops, and it's so easy to just say To Hell With It and give it up. I've spent years with certain professional and personal goals that aren't going to happen, and I find myself at a crossroads that I really never wanted to be in. It's a hard fight, and I'm not the only one going through something like this. If you're facing something similar, please know that you don't have to face this alone. You Morons have been my support, even indirectly, and I am grateful to all of you for, well, being Moronic. Thank you.

148 re: Maxine Waters' comments, she didn't say 700 billion people would lose their insurance. She said the plan would "eliminate 700 billion." I suspect she was referring to spending cuts. From the CBO report: "CBO and JCT estimate that, over the 2017-2026 period, enacting this legislation would reduce direct spending by $1,022 billion [$1.022 trillion] and reduce revenues by $701 billion, for a net reduction of $321 billion in the deficit over that period" So she is referring to a projected decrease in government income from taxpayers, what they like to call 'revenue'. This is the time-honored technique of tax-and-spend Democrats to moan that legislation is taking money out of the outstretched hands of the needy, while ignoring the fact that that is funded by taking money out of the hands of hard-working taxpayers. In addition, these projections are over a 10-year span and the decreases are 'as compared to current projection under existing law'. But, "Oh Lordy, they're cutting 700 billion!!" Oddly, I'm actually surprised she wasn't screaming about the $1.022 trillion decrease in projected spending. Perhaps because 700 sounds more bigly than 1.

167 @105 "When will Independence Day be relegated to an archaic holiday thrown in the trash heap of history??"-AlaBAMA Independence Day, or as most call it, the 4th, is around to sell beer and bbq and maybe shoot off some fireworks. With all this government that passes so many laws, rules and regulations that no one (including the lawmakers) can keep up with them, our independence has gone by the wayside. When the media suggests that a President has given up his First Amendment rights because he is President, it's a sorry excuse for a country.

I remember being at a beachside restaurant in The Hague on the 4th.  For reasons unknown to me, the place had a large wooden carving of the Statute of Liberty on the patio.  The Dutch waiter realized we were Americans and went out of his way to wish us a happy Independence Day.  The kid got a good tip.

"I am so Outraged my bowtie has slipped 13.5 degrees to the left! This is how outraged I am!" "Trump criticized a member of the media!" the host shouts. "This is the end of the republic! How dare he criticize Mika Breathalyzer!" the HEC shouts. "This has never happened before, a Republican president responding in kind!" "Like fighting fire with fire?" "Yes! Outrageously outrageousing of the most rageoused of the outs! Such is never acceptable, only meek surrender where we bare our throats to the knife of the bearded anarcho-bolshevik hordes is permitted." ********* The televisions all show the same scenes where High Elders of Conservatism denounce trump in their high, shrill, nasally voices, their bowties a-quiver with high dudgeon. "Excellent," Hillary breathes, the purple plaid plutonium powered panzer pantsuit pulsating with the energy in its warp containment field. "With the High Elders of Conservatism making their attacks Trump will be too distracted and will tweet away all of his time. My plan shall not fail." *********** "What do you got today?" Trump asks. "Let's see - George Will has unfriended you, you have five, no six, pundits calling for you to resign, every reporter and journalist with the exception of Sean Hannity say you are a poopy head, and a radioactive cloud has been spotted on the upper Potomac." What irritated me were all the people calling Trump a liar yesterday, and saying Mika had not had any surgery on her face, and that Trump was crazy. She had, and she knew she had, and she should have said so, instead of calling Trump crazy and a liar.

329 >>I'm always intrigued by the mindset that leads one to have a minor cosmetic/aesthetic surgical procedure just to "tweak" some small aspect.

Between hanging out with other NYC VIPs and media people, I am sure Mika is constantly focused on appearance, and constantly seeing what her dear socialite/media friends have tweaked or hearing about how in close-up in unforgiving HD that this tiny bit of her face is now showing flaws. Heck, in Hollywood starlets are pressured to start getting botox in their 20's "because it's more effective is you start younger." So much vanity, so many friends and co-workers feeding into is...

336 309 >>You have any links on what he's been working on? The DoJ has been busy arresting pedophile rings and MS-13 gang members (big raid on Long Island recently). No idea the extent Sessions is involved, but this has been a big change from Obama's DoJ, which would indicate these are priorities. 338 Apparently Mark Zuckerberg thinks Facebook is the "new church" in giving people a sense of community. Eh. it's a good business ploy for acquisition of Progtards. They hate their country....so no community there. They hate the idea of God and are atheists...so no community there. They hate the idea of family, children are a burden on their lives...so no community there. They hate at least 50% of their fellow citizens...limited community opportunities there. They hate their "fucking job"....limited community opportunities there. But... Online they can find a group, nay a Family of like-minded haters. They are home. They have found their church. Let all the screaming adult trash babies come unto Zucky!

I live in Texas, and I'm 6'2" - taller than most, but I don't think I really stand out, as I can easily name a dozen local friends and acquaintances taller than I am. (My plumber, who loves to give me cuts from the feral hogs he hunts, is 6'7" frex) I've got a grandson who's 5 years old, and he's getting pretty close to Robert Reich's height already. (I would pay good money to see Robert Reich say "Da Plane! Da Plane!!!")

340 J.J. it is simpler than that: If an employer can be shown to have knowingly employed an illegal, the returns are audited, and all write-offs declared against that employee's salary are denied and must be paid back, just as any other deficiency.

That is perfectly within the reach of current laws.

341 >>He's not visible much, maybe thats good.

Yeah, can't tell, and the national MSM is bound and determined to not cover a lot of this stuff to help people assess how effective Sessions' DoJ is so far.  They're not interested in the arrest of 40+ MS-13 members in LI after the brutal murder of three local teens because it doesn't fit the narrative. And I think that hundreds, if not over 1,000 have been arrested in pedophile ring raids (seen it mentioned in various tweets - not in news), which is huge. But as with illegals, the MSM doesn't cover it because it doesn't help the Resistance.

I watched this morning to get a good look at her for myself. I watched them a couple times this week, for first time since mid-November. Her cheeks look tighter than I remember, and no more dark areas/bags under her eyes. That last one may simply be better makeup, but I doubt it because she had that problem for many months last year, IIRC.

350 Good for Bartiromo for finally asking Podesta about his partnership with Putin in Joule Energy, since the rest of Official Washington and their #FanboyMedia were busy sweeping it under the rug. And no, he did not fully disclose it, and when he got caught, he transferred it into his daughter's name. At least his brother disclosed his lobbying for Putin's SberBank. When Putin pumped another million rubles into the company, it was really an investment in Podesta Futures.

351 Obviously people can have a sense of community as members of a synagogue. Sounds like he wants to be a sort of secular Pope-The authority figure who keeps people straight on their doctrine (This is not a disparagement on the RCC or The role of the Pope) Only for Zuckerberg it's secular humanism with lots of power and control but there is no church without Christ as its foundation stone. Posted by: FenelonSpoke at June 30, 2017 08:11 AM I always thought that Communism was a secular twisting of Christianity, "sharing" without free will and the virtue of charity. Zuckerberg wants a church like Jim Baker: everyone contributing while he enjoys a lavish lifestyle.

352 Grassley is right about McCabe--he's completely compromised and should be fired. Aside from the beef with Flynn, there is no way he and his wife can take $1,600,000.00 from MacAuliffe, his Party apparatus, Clinton bundlers and Hillary Campaign staffers while investigating Hillary. He's more corrupt than Comey, and that's saying something.

355 Maria Bartiromo is the only one with the figurative balls to confront Clinton henchman John Podesta about his real and criminal ties to Russia, to which the always classy Podesta responded by shrieking at her to STFU. Maria Bartiromo is one of the very few American journalists I respect. That she would engage in such a confrontation surprises me not at all.
