The Morning Report 6/14/18
— Open Blogger

putacorkinit.jpg

Good morning kids. Happy Flag Day! Let's dive right in, shall we? The big news this morning is the long-awaited IG report on election interference. I'm going to be pessimistic here since, to my way of thinking, IG or no IG, what this amounts to is the criminals investigating themselves. Do we really think that there are going to be recommendations that James Comey be charged let alone Hillary Clinton or even Barack Obama (yes, I believe that it goes that "high" up)? I realize that it's part of the process in crafting these reports that anyone who is accused of anything gets a chance to appear before the IG and clear his or her name. But the fact that in all this time, given the propensity to leak to the press that there has not been one scintilla of a hint of what's in that report can only mean that it's damning to too many people and at the highest levels, and so I fear a whitewash. When Rod Rosensteinpenis can openly threaten Congressional investigators for doing their duty in investigating his agency then what does that tell you about what's going on here? The election of Donald Trump was not supposed to happen. As an aside, and not unrelated, look at how some in the GOP have rushed to the defense of Rosenfraud and the FBI, and then look at their actions in Congress vis a vis the Trump agenda (*cough!* Ryan *cough!*). If nothing else it confirmed what many feared and frankly what most thought of as tin-foil hat nuttery as fact. "Deeze are da conditions dat prevail." And so here we are.

If I wanted to put a positive spin on all of this, look what happened in Singapore, at Nikki Haley in the UN, Scott Pruitt at EPA, Gorsuch on SCOTUS, PDT himself on Twitter every day, the immolation of the Democrat-Left-Media complex and concomitant revulsion/rejection by more and more average Americans every day and so on. On top of it all, there's the mere fact that Hillary Clinton will never be President of the United States of America to warm your cockles.

Domestically, Paul Ryno is going to put an Amnesty bill up for a vote in the House next week and it's a flaming disaster. I will assume the President is going to veto this thing. Would be nice to see a Tweet stating "dead on arrival; Munster go home." Ben Ferguson went off on Bob Corker for his vile remarks about Trump supporters being cultists or some such garbage, in the wake of MAGA candidates scoring big wins last Tuesday. Oddly enough, raging Lefty Glenn Greenwald had a shockingly honest piece about the Dems hypocrisy as they play the identity politics game (safe link to Limbaugh) which dovetails nicely into Cynthia "Dickless" Nixon's campaign for NY governor. Fauxcahontas is hocking a tchainik about billionaires yet again, and the NRSC is not going to support Corey Stewart in his bid in Virginia due to alleged white supremacist claims. Meh, I think that state is almost a lost cause anyway. Then there's the California three-way split and its chances come November. I saw the map and was not happy since each state would have a leftist shit-hole as its capital. I'd rather SF, LA and Sacramento just declare independence than see six more permanent Democrat senate seats created, thank you. Last item politically is an alarming report about the FEC screwing around with GOP groups. Lois Lerner, pick up the courtesy phone...

In gun news, the CEO of Dick's was grilled by a conservative gun owner at a shareholder meeting, and as a good-guy citizen with a gun shot and killed a maniac with an axe attacking his neighbor, the AMA is openly calling for gun bans and confiscations. I assume these are the doctors from Central Casting who stood with Obama in their costume shop lab coats and not real doctors. Then again, look at what happened to the ADL.

In the aftermath of Singapore, SoS Pompeo is stressing that sanctions will remain in place until solid confirmation of NorK denuclearization is seen, Nikki Haley blasts the UN over yet another condemnation of Israel, shooting back with a condemnation of Hamas (it's time to dump the UN), the Chi-Coms are putting advanced missiles on the disputed Spratley Islands (with warheads courtesy of the Clintons and Loral), and an interesting piece about Switzerland not going the quantitative easing route.

On the education front, conservatives are pushing Betsy DeVos to scrap the disastrous Obama school discipline policy that resulted in Parkland, UCLA students are filing criminal charges against the radical Joo-haters who disrupt pro-Israel groups and the cultural revolution comes to high school history classes. Frankly, this seems like old news, and yet...

Lastly, today is Flag Day. Three cheers for the red, white and blue.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

I was wondering what Costa Rica has come up with.

Posted by: grammie winger at June 14, 2018 02:38 AM (lwiT4)

    46 My guess:
The IG report will be critical of Comey, but not in the way we would expect.  It will call him insubordinate for refusing the directives of the Lynch DOJ to: (1) not comment on the Hillary e-mail investigation, and; (2) not disclose to Congress that the investigation was re-opened due to the Wiener laptop, because of the proximity of the pending election.
This will have the effect of shielding Rosenstein, because it will conform to the reasons outlined in Rosenstein's memo justifying the dismissal of Comey. Internally, Rosenstein will use the IG report to fend of allegations that he has a conflict of interest (because the IG will have backed up his conclusions).
So -- Comey, insubordinate (for the wrong reasons), Rosenstein protected, and the likely numerous irregularities in the Hillary e-mail investigation will generally be deemed judgement calls that the IG will not second guess.
I hope this is not the case -- I'd love to be wrong.

90 amnesty is not popular ... so a vote may expose some, and give ammo for the fall.  But those vulnerable would only vote yes if it could really pass, until then they can pretend to be against it.

Trump may demand real funding for the wall before November, or government shutdown?  A trillion or two to defend borders in MENA, but $12B to defend our own border with a wall? ... Congress wants us infiltrated and turned into the third world, so they can reign as feudal lords or something I guess.
What are the globalists really planning?  They sure seem to hate the peoples of the world having their own self governed nation state.  Another reason Hillary and her merry band of mobsters need prosecutions.

In order to get rid of the discharge petitions which were mostly supported by Democrats, he had to "buy" some votes so they didn't have enough to pass. In order to buy those votes he had to commit to a floor vote of various measures from those members. If you want to blame someone, blame the Republicans who were pushing for discharge petitions. Then look at the sponsors of the. I'll that will be voted on next week. Their argument, which I don't buy, is that some of those members have large Hispanic populations who won't vote for them if they don't solve DACA.

132 The AMA position on gun control is not the least surprising.  The AAP (American  Association of Pediatricians) is largely responsible for the ridiculous safety guidelines and  laws that have having a normal childhood impossible anymore  Their recommendations would keep kids bubble wrapped in their home until  the  age of 16 then only allowed out for brief periods under parental supervisions and kept away from sharp objects until 18.  We are about halfway there.

So many other professional groups have been taking over by libs with an agenda.  I am still a member of a couple engineering societies which you would think would lean conservative  but sometimes the garbage I see  coming from them on global warming and diversity make it harder to renew every year.

187 Fractional Reserve banking is useful I guess, but now we have the banks consolidating everything so the worst offenders buy up the local/smaller responsible banks.

And the biggest problems seem to be with those that do proprietary trading, like (as I understand it) when Corzine was leveraged, trading in some European bonds and lost his shirt, so he reached into the clients' money and grabbed $1.6B, and is still free as a bird.

Goldman Sachs was heavily into the housing stocks and to get bailed out as they learned it was a house of cards, the sold crap to their customers and bribed (?) the S&P rating group to maintain the credit rating on their junk until they got bailed out.  I think that also saved Morgan ... "The Big Short" covers that.

The Swiss also have the ease of not needing a big military, whereas we had Hillary/Soros directing our military actions, seemingly in the interest of the globalists.

Fractional Reserve facilitates a lot of economic activity, but again the DC/NY globalist cabals can mess everything up.  Keep it local where local banks know their borrowers ... and it seemed to work.  Money is a funny thang.  Governments just printing it out of thin air could explode the whole concept.

193 I resisted reading the D'Agati piece on Bourdain and Spade's suicide until just now.  I mean, do I really care that some woebegone wealthy and accomplished celebrities decided to end it all?  Everyone always talks sympathetically of the suicides.  But I think that is completely wrong.

Really and truly, I hate suicide because of what it does to those left behind, the children, husbands or wives, and friends.  How about what suicide must do to the parents of those that take their lives?  It's a terrible, terrible thing to do to people you ostensibly love.

So I didn't really want to read some article giving Bourdain and Spade any sort of a pass for having offed themselves.  But the article deals with all this exceptionally well.  It's a great little essay. Recommended.

    Death is nothing at all,
    I have only slipped away

    I am I,
    and you are you;
whatever we were to each other,
    that, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name,
speak to me in the easy way
    which you have always used,
put no difference in your tone,
    wear no forced air
    of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we have always laughed
at the little jokes we shared together,
    Let my name ever be
the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect,
without the trace of a shadow on it.

    Life means all
    that it ever meant
It is the same that it ever was.
    There is unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

    I am waiting for you,
    for an interval,
    somewhere very near,
    just around the corner.

After the failure of this trilogy, we will need to reboot the franchise! And I can recast the mains for muh diversity! Luke will be an adopted Muslim refugee baby who was raised Christian and reverts back to the Jedi (which is now Islam) Leia will be re-written as basically Rey but more-flawless. Played by Beyonce. Tony Shalhoub will be Obi-Wan The rebels will speak only Spanish. No subtitles because it's racist to not know Spanish. And we will make Darth Vader completely white because white is bad and Vader is bad. And since the fans don't like Han Solo anymore, because why else would they avoid my beautiful movie Soylo, we will just get rid of that character Posted by: Kathleen Kennedy at June 14, 2018 08:25 AM (vV5Hi) You joke, but I guarantee this will happen within 10 years, just in time for the 50th Anniversary of Star Wars.

I grew up in Cincinnati and there used to be this store called Swallen's. It had all kinds of firearms, hunting, camping and what not in it. When I was around 12, I was there with my dad and they had the pepper spray on the glass counter in these little cardboard cubbies. Not knowing what it was, and being a stupid kid, I pushed the top down on one of the pepper spray bottles with my face right over it. It sprayed the sides of the cubby it was in and right into my face. I remember excruciating pain as my dad and the store manager ran me to the bathroom to flush my eyes with water. From then on, the pepper sprays were kept inside the glass counter.

It also seems to be adding more damage to my poor vocal cords, since my voice is going downhill. I'll be in the hospital for 10-14 days after the operation. Although I won't be able to talk, there's e-mail, texting, blogging, old-fashioned writing, plus I'm working on learning some sign language. Although I've been provided with an electrolarynx, I'm unable to understand almost all of what I say with it, so I can't expect to use it for communication unless I can improve tremendously. They may be able to provide me with a voice prosthesis later, which would restore my ability to communicate verbally. I know Vic will keep you posted on things from his perspective. I have phone numbers for Blaster & Phoenix Girl, so I'll be able to text them to give my version of how things are going. ^^^Posting from Vic's wife on the board several days ago

Because...they know better (we're experts!!) and the kids become better cogs of the State. See: Life of Julia.

379 Here is how to consider the IG report contents: An IG can legally and ethically only knock people or organizations for not following the applicable laws and FedGov and Agency-specific rules, regulations, and policies. An IG can comment on whether commonly-used but unwritten practices and policies were not followed. In other words, an IG is only to evaluate conduct against existing laws, etc. If the IG says such-and-such was done by so-and-so, and it was an unusual and questionable action, but no adverse action should be taken because the rules were followed: If people do not like that, the path to follow (after anger) is to work to get the rules changed. Perhaps one good thing to come out of all this will be a successful campaign to change the way DoJ and FBI operate and are staffed. Over and out - long day at work today - won't be able to comment until evening. JackStraw, I hope your hopes for today's IG findings and recommendations are over-fulfilled! (Because mine will be, too!)

398 Yes, that is what I meant. Every damned time some new child safety requirement for children comes out it seems to have originated with them. ----------- A friend who was engaged in the manufacture of CD's and DVD's was ranting about how they had to reduce lead content in the metalization of their products to California approved levels. Those levels being bizarrely decided by the Child Protection Act. They did the calculation and figured that a child would have to consume something like 3-4 CD's a day to exceed the allowed limit.

Driving down the highway at exactly 65MPH.

I have a feeling that, as much as they're demanding proof (not that they're really doing that, just virtue-signalling the other triggered memetheists), if they were to die tomorrow and came before God, they'd demand do-overs because they somehow missed all the proof they would have seen if they hadn't been too busy congratulating themselves for their self-worship they mistook for "reason" and totally got one in on those stupid Christians in meaningless Internet arguments. Yeah, kids...those "stupid Christians" have been warning you that there are no do-overs and that this is your one chance. The dopamine hits from your illusions of intelligence are only temporary, I'm afraid. *Lefty "atheists" as opposed to normal atheists and agnostics who tend to be libertarian-ish to conservative. Easy to tell the difference between the two because the pseudo-atheism of the former is one of the very first things you learn about them when you meet them and the latter you might find out years later that they simply don't believe in God/gods but by that time you already know them to be contemplative people. Basically, memetheists are just narcissists who have to make everything about them rather than proper atheists.

480 Most churches have a wedding director. Our's was a lady named Grace. Grace was a tallish slim woman in her late 60's. She was always well dressed and polished, in a Southern sort of way. She must have handled a hundred weddings. While she was kind and well-spoken, she didn't ask anyone anything, she directed. She would grasp a groomsman firmly by the arm and steer him to where he was supposed to be, and make the point that he was to be right there. Kind of like my old Sgt. Major, there was the implication that while she could not make you do things properly, she could make you wish that you had. She was terrific. I've never forgotten her.

502 One good thing this last week is the injunction agasinst Deerfield, Illinois' Gun Ban.

And since Illinois has a law against cities making their own gun laws illegal and this is why the Judge made the injunction as it's likely that the Plaintiffs will win the suit as Deerfield failed the test of it being a modification of an existing law.

Good. They keep putting them up and GOA and NRA and in this case the Second Amendment Foundation along with the Illinois State Rifle Association brought the suit with standing supplied by a local gun owner.

Keep donating folks so they can keep knocking this crap down.
