The Morning Report 5/31/18
— Open Blogger

tres.jpg

Good morning kids. Thursday and the top story is the succumbing of Trey Gowdy to a bad case of swamp fever. It had been a slow and agonizing illness. That is, slow and agonizing to the American people who once looked to him as a wicked-smart conservative legal eagle and defender of the Constitution. But after a series of bad haircuts and questionable sartorial decisions (not to mention being nothing more than a tough-talking blowhard when you get right down to it), he decided it would be better to be seated on a panel with Kaptain Kristol, the cruise director than serve the people. His defense of the FBI for its criminal spying on the Trump campaign was just the absolute last straw. Mark Levin, who at one point IIRC was an ally of the man, lit into him as did Rush Limbaugh, albeit mellower as is his wont.

Although we are still not privy to many of the details, the facts are undeniable: the top echelons of our Federal law enforcement and intelligence communities led an illegal, covert spying operation against an American presidential candidate with the intent of sabotaging the campaign. After that failed, the goal was to manufacture false evidence of a crime to oust and/or kneecap him as a means of covering up their crime. The only thing yet to be confirmed is was all of this at the behest or direct involvement of Barack Obama and/or Hillary Clinton.

For Trey Gowdy, who is a seasoned prosecutor as well as a veteran of Washington DC to not only not see this but to effectively parrot James Comey, James Clapper and John Brennan means he is either incredibly stupid or gallingly duplicitous. It's the latter, and considering who I had thought he was for the past few years makes his betrayal that much more bitter a pill to swallow. And now, those of us with TV will have to endure this two-faced Judas for a long time to come. Meh. It's Washington.

Still, the phony witch hunt grinds on. In stating he wants Mueller to wrap it up before the Midterms, Rudy Giuliani is either really dumb (and he ain't) or prepping the rhetorical battle space, there's a report that Deep State stooge Andrew McCabe wrote the memo about firing Comey, a 2012 Holder memo of guidelines about these kinds of investigations during election season may (or may not) loom large as November draws near and Daniel Greenfield has another good piece about conspiracy theories and it turns out the FBI violated its own rules in recruiting the spy. No comment from Gowdy on that one, I guess.

Meanwhile, noted horticulture enthusiast and woman abuser Harvey Weinstein has been indicted on rape (as in "rape-rape") charges and Ann Coulter ties him in nicely with his pals the Clinton Crime Family.

In immigration, it turns out those poor illegal alien kids kept in cages were actually paid $670 a week out of your tax dollars, and a dreamy twice-deported illegal alien is accused of killing a teen while driving drunk. Thou shalt have open borders, eh Tom Donahue? Segueing nicely into politics, the President has tagged Nancy Palsi as "MS-13 lover" which is going to definitely leave a mark considering the RNC ad I linked to yesterday. Brutal, baby. A GOP congressman from Virginia citing his alcoholism will not seek reelection, and Barack Obama really is a disturbed, narcissistic little titty-baby, isn't he?

Some good analysis of the frightening situation of Tommy Robinson, who is effectively a political prisoner inside the land that gave us Magna Carta and the Scottish Enlightenment. Also, discussion of the rank hypocrisy of the Media vis a vis the treatment of the President and the weaponization of Roseanne Barr's remarks on Valerie Jarrett's lineage.

On the international scene, Secretary of State Pompeo sat down for dinner with the NorK representative ahead of a full day of preparatory meetings for the upcoming summit between PDT and Whoa, Fat!, some analysis from IBD about the Italian electoral crisis and its effect on the markets and some takeaways about Israel's response to the latest round of Hamas attacks from Gaza. Unlinked but noteworthy was Nikki Haley's ripping of the UN for its silence about Hamas. And see the link about The Economist.

Related to the latter in the Islam section, our efforts in Afghanistan, a sad yet unsurprising report from the State Department and a related Mark Steyn essay from 2010 that I really recommend. Depressing as hell but a necessary read IMHO for a host of reasons.

Looking to home, we have a slew of good news. Scott Pruitt is bullish on oil production, SCOTUS gave a huge win for the pro-life movement, PDT has signed a bill giving broad access to experimental drugs for critically ill people, Justice Gorsuch may have signaled a huge decision in neutering the power of rogue Hawaiian judges and airline pilots have shocked the Teamsters and organized labor by voting to decertify their union.

From hither and yon, we have links about two new documentaries; one a Wim Wenders propaganda piece about Francis the Talking Pope and another dismantling a new cinematic fable about the Pentagon Papers. Finally, the great Shelby Steele rips the race hustlers preying upon and perpetuating white guilt for fun and profit.

On a personal note, I will be away tomorrow and Monday, so behave until I see you back here on Tuesday.

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

12 Gowdy is afraid of the ramifications of us losing faith in the FBI, the only gov't agency that people have a positive attitude toward. That ship has sailed. When the gov't can lie to you, but you are arrested for lying (what they decide is a lie) to the gov't, it's time for a massive reorientation about what America is all about. Freedom isn't free when the gov't is all powerful and we live at its whim.

14 The Saga: FEWWWWWEEEEEEE! "All hands on deck!" came the sounds from the loudspeaker as the crew assembled. "Good morning mateys and ahoy! I'm Cap'n Bill of the SS Sea Cuck! I've assembled you here out at sea to give you your assignments! We have recently come to an agreement with an oriental gentleman who has issues with our archest nemesis, the Golden Scalp Weasel and its bearer. Yes - you there." "Is there going to be any lunch?" Jonah Goldberg asked. "For the donors. Now, back to the plan..." "How about snacks?" "No snacks! And put some pants on! Back to the plan..." "Trump is evil! He breathes! Air is evil!" Jen Rubin shrieks. Cap'n Bill gestures and a yellow feathered dart strikes Jen's neck. She smiles and coos "Happy happy happy I'm in my happy place no Golden Scalp Weasels. Wheeee!" "I admire your loony enthusiasm, but too much will scare off the donors and we need the cash; the old Sea Cuck doesn't run on pipe dreams." "Donors? I need some. My campaign is still in debt and they're going to arrest me!" Egg McMuffin wails. "Relax, you're in international waters, no arrests out here. Now - here's the assignments: George, you set up a pompous circle and bloviate on something no one cares about. Those that have intellectual pretenses will be thrilled." "On it." "I knew you could you gassy windbag. Jonah, there's those that like to eat snacks and babble about Star Journey or whatever - you lead them." "Snacks?" "Alright - if you shake some real money - none of those Quabaloops or what ever you go on about - then I'll let you have some snacks. Just don't tell your mother." "Yay! Snacks!" "Jen, the most deranged are going to find you - like to like - so alternate stoking and soothing them. That'll open the wallet." "Poughkeepsie," Jen giggles as she slumps to the deck. "I better adjust the dosage," Cap'n Bill mutters. "Now Egg, I got a real special assignment for you." "Really?" "Yep, that should match your talents precisely. Here." He hands over a plunger and a bucket of cleaning supplies. "Go get those toilets working on the orlop deck." "But no donors go there." "Precisely," Cap'n Bill says as he pushes Egg towards and into an open hatch. "Once the Sea Cuck is flush with donor cash, we can pick up our new allies and take down Trump and his Golden Scalp Weasel! Go Crew!" The others run off as Cap'n Bill starts dancing and singing, "Shake, shake, shake, that wallet; shake, shake, that wallet; oh yeah! Shake, shake, shake, that money loose, that money loose!" More to come in "The Golden Scalp Weasel and The Jade Empire of Fu Manchu."

16 Trump's signature on the "Right-To-Try" bill is a win for common sense, compassion, and scientific advancement. Anyone who has had to watch a seriusly ill loved one struggle to obtain treatment due to bureaucratic BS knows the value of treatment freedom when the chips are down. 23 Wow, so it took y'all this long to see that TG doesn't play for our team. Did it ever bother you that for all of his so-called investigations while in Congress, there was never an indictment? That is, could you refute an argument stating that TG conducted show trials for the sake of satiating the rubes, but those being "grilled" never had to fear any consequences since they were all in on it? I have stated for decades that the quickest way to demon possession was to live/work in DC. Being consumed by The Swamp happens to them all, just give it time. 32 The Trey Gowdy statement on the FBI acting properly is not only empiracally wrong but speaks to the likelihood that he was either threatened or they showed him the dirt they have on him Magguffen style. Trey and Nunes have been after the FBI/DOJ to cough up unredacted documents for over a year and they have told him in no uncertain terms to go fuck them selves to the point of contempt and impeachment threats. Yet Trey "I suck deep state cock by choice" Gowdy comes out and says from what I've seen they acted properly??? That's because, I guess, this bunch of criminal goons are not going to just turnover the evidence of their vast crimes. But I guess you can't expect a former federal prosecutor to understand that. What we are seeing is mob style RICO action being perpetrated by LE and IC apparatuses you dipshit. Faggot assed faggot.

They invited in the deluge that followed, at huge expense to U.S. taxpayers, in Obama's effort to "fundamentally transform" the U.S. to make it more "brown."

104 I'll bet your doctor's group has no problem with euthanasia (as long as it's fully covered by federal payments)! Posted by: Hrothgar at May 31, 2018 07:53 AM (n9EOP) This was posted as a reply by a British member of the group. Basically describes death panels to great cheer of the other members. Apparently it is a good thing to have government actuarials calculate the worth of people and decide their treatment is too expensive. So in the UK, we have pretty strict rules about the efficacy of medicines we fund. This leads to a few cancer treatments (the ones that show 2 month improvements in average survival but not quality of life and cost a fortune) getting rejected and not funded. Cue lots of tabloid newspaper stories where they find some young mother who they claim "won't see her children go to school" because she's being denied this "life saving" drug. Pressure is then applied to politicians to fund this (mostly useless) drug. A few years ago the prime minister set up a "cancer fund" as a vote winner to fund cancer treatments that basically are basically over-priced and shit and so aren't funded by the body that actually looks at the evidence. This ran for a few years, wasted a HUGE amount of money that could have been spent saving less appealing patients (e.g. stroke care, which gets less attention than young bald people) and the fund never even collected any data on the outcomes of the patients getting these hugely expensive and largely ineffective drugs. This project smacks of the same thing.

Obama encouraged parents to put their children in the care of coyotes and cartels for passage to the US. Think about that. Naturally, they were abused. Some were also abused in temporary housing and/or by the UNVETTED people with whom they were placed. Did Obama know? Well, he must have as his administration insisted these minors be given birth control and abortions by those organizations who provided temporary care, such as Catholic Charities. That is evil. Posted by: rhennigantx at May 31, 2018 08:10 AM (JFO2v)

Dr Mary Ruwart was a researcher for drug companies, and wrote a book called Death by Regulation.

I have read some of her articles and listened to a couple of podcasts featuring her.
She addresses what the FDA does, and how it could be done more easily, cheaper and with at least the same death rate as the current rules, but with options to make it better.

Interesting lady, well spoken, and you will just have to put up that she is political as well.

173 Two links you posted, JJ, are seemingly unrelated but chilling in their implications about our dying freedoms and descent into serfdom. The first concerns Tommy Robinson. If we accept his report on the ongoing deliberations violated British law (Powerline isn't convinced) and this somehow violated Robinson's probation for previously doing so, there is no question he is a political prisoner. The British Establishment wants him dead. If something happens to Robinson, Britons should burn that shithole country to the ground. Perhaps we should nuke Westminster from orbit for spying on our president, while at it. The other is the link to the "Hawaiian judge" story. Despite its headline and lede, it appears the USSC will not reach the ultimate issue: whether a district judge has jurisdiction to enforce his or her political leanings via a nationwide injunction against decisions of elected representatives. If the USSC allows this practice to continue and our cowardly Congress doesn't being to impeach these bastards, our liberties will be lost, too. The West is entering a new Dark Age, and our feudal overlords want us dead or castrated. This can't hold. Revolutions and/or death squads are likely outcomes and probably will be futile because even the Soviets and Nazis didn't have such total control. The next generation or two will be violent and repressive. Good links as always and thanks, I think.

Soros comes to mind, but the Kock bros also push for open borders (for their profit), and Hillary gives "open hemisphere" speeches to bankers with globalist sugar plum fairies dancing in their heads.

Who really runs Epstein (pedophile/kompromat) Island?  Why do so many top officials go to a known pedophile's island?  Can't just be for a little sex, even if it was with under age boys and girls.  The optics are too bad.  Epstein seems to just be the fake face of the place, which is probably run by some foreign state, assuming "Hydra" or "Spectre" don't actually exist in full yet.  (but maybe our own DeepState runs the joint)

Thing is, our DeepState knows all these things, and is cooperating or perhaps joined at the hip with the syndicates, at least at the top levels where the "special handling" of major crimes always gets the dirty cops to cover up under color of law.

push has come to shove ... we need a few good men

It's all one big word game.  Of course the FBI wasn't spying on Trump, they were spying on his campaign people.  Never once did Trump himself directly get spied upon by the FBI or the CIA.

That's what they are saying in an effort to soft pedal this stuff when it comes out that yes there were embed spies in the Trump campaign.

218 196: "No evidence but all of the admissions." If we follow the rationales of Gowdy and Napolitano, the admissions were to doing normal, routine work that never has happened before in the history of the USSA. Gowdy and Napolitano were servants of the Deep State and are loathe to acknowledge they enabled evil. In the case of Gowdy, at least, the probability of compromise can't be discounted. The only silver lining is the Globalist Uber Alles is coming apart at the seams. Some is obvious, some not. An example of the latter: the mass retirements of GOP cucks does put the majority at risk but it also represents a purge of the dangerous, worst elements. Dying animals are quite dangerous, though, and repression and violence probably will intensify over the next generation or two.

221 >>From a legal perspective, there may be no spying (however that term is used in its legal sense - and I suspect it isn't defined as spying). But colloquially and politically, it is clear that was done. There is also this: NSA Dir. Mike Rogers discovered illegal NSA 702 About Queries being performed by FBI contractors with the Obama DoJ's permission in early 2016, IIRC. These were likely done by Fusion GPS (?) and it appears they were doing these queries as part of their 2016 campaign oppo research. The details of these queries - the targets, what info was retrieved, when it was retrieved, and by whom - has not yet been released. Rogers saved all of that detail, so Horowitz likely has it as part of his OIG investigation. While not technically spying, it is using misusing a spy agency's intel for political purposes. I am ok with this being included in the SPYGATE designation. And then there's the leaks of the unmasked intel by Obama people....

As much as the left wants to import millions of illegals and make them citizens even 20 million more democrat voters would not change National elections.

The vast majority of illegals are concentrated in California and giving them 11+ Million more dem votes there would not change a single thing Nationally.

The next biggest concentration is here in Texas and even with another couple of million dem votes the State is not in danger of turning purple.

Posted by: Jean at May 31, 2018 04:06 AM (MS0+a)

227 it appears the FBI (CIA/NSA?) concocted evidence and implanted people (to whom they had whispered "Russia") into the fringes of Trump's campaign ... With Intent to spy on Trump (which includes TeamTrump).

And it seems they were spying even before they bother to concoct a story for the FISC judges.  Anbd they withheld parts of the evidence (like that it came from the DNC, and/or themselves).

AND the flip side is that they (Mueller right in the thick of it back then) covered up the Hillary massive pay to play and fake foundation scheming, yet now had to engineer "kompromat" on Trump, to control him (it would seem).  So now they are torturing anyone ever related to the Trump team, and maybe Gowdy and others are getting the message ... "don't mess with The Mob".

(but really it is looking like maybe Gowdy was part of the Kabuki Dance Team all along, idk.)

Gowdy is probably more comfortable arguing from that perspective. And there are times when you need that - say cross - examinations in a hearing. Trump is arguing from a political perspective. You really need both people who can argue from both sides because sometimes the legal case is better than the political case and vise versa. Of course, there are also times like now where the legal and political cases are both strong and go hand in hand.

I haven't read all the docs pertaining to this, but I would surmise that they will use Holder's/Obama's  directives as the gold standard completely buttering up the old Administration as a paragon of foresight and ask Mueller (or whoever) why he was not following the  policy set forth by the Obama administration consistently.  They will say that the lack of consistent application of sound checks and balances is putting everyone at risk and the only way to get the agencies back on course is to have leaders in place who will apply the rules to ALL consistently.

Then he asks for resignations.

These are all for their own (or their globalist shadow people) interest, not to maintain free elections.  If they cared about that, Hillary would have been locked up long ago, and the Dems could have run a real candidate.  imo

273 The concern is not to be dismissed, but Texas is different than California. Our history with Mexico is different. Things always change, but I am not concerned that Texas will turn blue anytime soon." The latest poll between Cruz and Beto shows why, when you delve into the details. People think hispanics will be like blacks, who vote 90% dem, to the point that if they only vote 85% dem, people think it's a big deal. But in this poll, among Hispanic voters, Cruz and Beto split 50/50. That's what dem's hate. Gov. Abbot gets the same share. Texas politics today - Whites vote 80% conservative, hispanics vote 50% conservative, that comes out to about 60% in any race, who cares how blacks vote, they don't matter anymore. They took themselves out of the game.

Who directs the Comey/Rosenstein/Mueller charade, to thwart the will of the people (to take down the DC Mafia)? (but maybe our own DeepState runs the joint) Thing is, our DeepState knows all these things, and is cooperating or perhaps joined at the hip with the syndicates, at least at the top levels where the "special handling" of major crimes always gets the dirty cops to cover up under color of law. push has come to shove ... we need a few good men Posted by: illiniwek at May 31, 2018 08:46 AM (bT8Z4) Tin foil hat on. He was a sort of mini-Trump long before Trump came along and Trump pretty much ran on and is governing on things that Sessions supported his entire career like illegal immigration and a return to the rule of law. Hell, Trump even took Stephen Miller from Sessions staff to help implement lots of his agenda. The old boys club in DC tried to crush Sessions career by falsely Borking his judgeship even before Bork came along. He has no love for the swamp and has never done the go along to get along thing. You either have to think Sessions recused himself because he thought it was the right thing to do wether you agree or not or you have to believe he decided days after getting his dream job to pull a 180 and intentionally blow up the guy he worked tirelessly to get elected.

340 Sessions doubled down on asset seizures without a conviction. That alone is enough for me to question his bonafides.

341 The DeepState-Press complex continues to play the "Suspicion" card. They say that the FIB was "suspicious" of a few individuals in the Trump campaign. Without more detail than that, and gleaning from the pro-Mueller advocates, I have to think that those invididuals are none other than Manafort, Page and Papadopoulis--however, I have yet to read why Papadopoulis would be a Person of Interest prior to his meeting with Misfud, or prior to the FBI informanting on the Trump campaign. So it has to be down to Page, who they haven't been able to charge with anything. And Manafort, who's charged with not reporting as an agent of the Ukraine, because he didn't report that status (which my reading tells me is bogus) before he was arrested--a little shorter period of time than the Podestas didn't report their involvement with a Russia front-group in the Ukraine as an agent of *RUSSIA*, as they did after the ax fell on Manafort. So, I have to conclude that they have been keeping tabs on Page for over 2 years now, but trust them...despite that they haven't found anything on him in 2 years...the suspicion will pay off and justify the violation of his rights! Ve haf our SUSPICIONS!!!

You either have to think Sessions recused himself because he thought it was the right thing to do wether you agree or not or you have to believe he decided days after getting his dream job to pull a 180 and intentionally blow up the guy he worked tirelessly to get elected.[/]

Nothing so noble.  Sessions screwed up.

When asked to report his meetings with any Russians, in preparing for his nomination hearings, he himself neglected to mention the casual contact with the Russian ambassador, and in so doing he gave Al Franken a way to get after him.
When the politicking started in committee Sessions did not have the stones to fight back, and took the easy way out by agreeing to recuse himself.  It was a weal move, compounding a lazy error in form-filling out.  And it has had enormous implications for America and Trump's presidency.
Sessions was an idiot to start out, and he sure as hell hasn't impressed since in this massive battle.  Hopefully we will all get lucky and the rest of the DOJ will do whats right, and get rid of this stain on the Republic (speaking of the slo-mo Mueller coup here) but I'm not confident at all in that.

343 I just saw on Hannity last night how much Sessions smirked and smiled during his recusal statement. He seemed really pleased with his recusal. Despite, as Greg Jarrett points out a lot, there was no statute requiring his recusal--and he got SUCKERED by....guess what?... *career* bureaucrats!! You have to question his competence that he can't just look up the statutes himself and read them, and seems to take great delight in getting suckered by career bureaucrats. After seeing that tape--where he just can't keep that good-boy smile to himself--I have 0 confidence in Sessions.

Yes, so I've been told. I was told that before it was revealed that he had appointed a team of federal prosecutors work with the IG after criminal activity was found. All I heard then was a collective, Oh. Then I was told he would never fire McCabe. And then he did. Again, another Oh. The truth is we don't really know what he's doing behind the scenes because he's acting, get this, the way the an AG is supposed to act in the middle of a criminal investigation. By keeping his mouth shut and not leaking. We'll find out soon enough if he's been doing nothing or if in fact he has been pursuing criminal activity which will change the narrative of stains on the Republic in a heartbeat. Well after the Ohs.

347 The.Civil asset forfeitures could have been a move against the domestic and global trafficking machines and money laundering machines and selling state secrets. Why should these literal war criminals and traitors be able to profit off this shit to build a nest for any legal defense or a hideaway in another country?

348 JackStraw, we've had this same discussion for what seems like months now and the basic facts never seem to change:  the investigation proceeds, some administrative punishments get leveled, but no prosecutions result.

As i keep saying, I hope the IG, who has had Huber and a Grand Jury to help along for over seven months now, will finally see some results from his work, and the prosecutorial side will get into gear.  It has not happened.

This battle has been entirely carried to the enemy by Trump himself,  and by the Congress.  That's two thirds of our system.  The Justice system has been entirely absent from the battlefield.  Absent at least on the side of Truth and Justice-- they've been very active on the other side, prosecuting all sorts of nonentities trying to get someone to turn on Trump.  Judge Ellis has had more to say on this than anyone, and Judge Collyer too.  But has anything changed?  Since Collyers almost plaintive appeal to the DOJ has anyone been indicted?
No.

Maybe now that the Clinton report is being issued there will be a change, and maybe the rusty wheels of Justice will creak into action.  Maybe now we will see something positive happen.

That would be a welcome and new thing.

349 Gowdy is an FBI man who has been taking a lot of flak from his erstwhile co-workers from the FBI because they feel PDT is 'hurting' the agency. This is pushback. Gowdy probably feels like the actions of a few are smearing an institution he loves dearly and so he's toeing the deep state line to defend the FBI. I've seen reports he's annoyed at PDT for attacking the FBI in broad terms so this is also payback. During the questioning of Comey, Gowdy made the point again and again that this wasn't the FBI he knew, that protocols and rules and standards were not being adhered to. He heard about that plenty from FBI agents and officials, active and retired, who told him he was damaging the agency and he should lay off this one situation (Hillary and PDT investigations) to save all the 'good' the agency does. Frankly I think the FBI and the CIA should be disbanded and reconstituted and reorganized. I don't give a shit how many investigations are damaged. He who would give up his liberty for security deserves neither. The FBI's highest officials are guilty of trying to overturn an election. Damn them, jail them and break them up. Burn it all down.

350 And, by the way, I can't imagine who you are referring to with all your "oh's".  Certainly not me.  I've been keeping as up to date on all this as anyone, and these little events to which you continually refer have not yet caused any real impact in the battle.  No results.   "Oh", you might say, and I would forgive you for it.

As a good American I want the Justice system to win this one.  But it must get into the fight.

351 The IG sent a criminal referral on McCabe over six weeks ago.  Investigation was complete!   The complete facts were known.   Has anything happened?  No.  Nothing has happened.

Posted by: Huck Follywood, Vigilance Committee supporter at May 31, 2018 05:39 AM (LISuA)

352 And as far as Session firing McCabe goes, he didn't.  Oh, he might have signed the internal document terminating McCabe, but Rosenstein fired McCabe (and at the last possible moment!).  The FBI institutionally fired McCabe, as a direct result of his lying to the IG.

Sessions needs to get into gear.

354 I think Trey Gowdy has received the Justice Roberts treatment---when the NSA got weaponized Trump was not the only target, I am willing to be that every Republican and more than a few Democrats in DC and State Houses across the country had their private information Hoovered by the Obama Admin and plenty of nice blackmail-worthy bits were stored and pulled out when useful. I think a lot of the Repub retirements from public life have a lot to do with this.

355 Joe Doakes, Bang spot on and they're getting out before it's all revealed.

Posted by: Captain Hate at May 31, 2018 06:11 AM (y7DUB)

356 I think in troubled times the first instinct of the bureaucracy would be to close ranks. It's them against the world. Anyone who rocks the boat is an enemy. They wouldn't want a revolution, they wouldn't want a civil war, they probably most want supervisors who close their eyes when they buy $70,000 tables every once in a while. The main qualities that allow one to rise in rank and survive administration changes are telling your superior what he wants to hear, learning bureaucratese, staying out of trouble, keeping one's head down, and still doing things your own way in the end. From their point of view, probably left-wing and right-wing troublemakers are the same. They just want to get on with their business, as they, not politicians, voters, or the media, define it. So TG is showing that he's one of theirs, thus positioning himself for a presidential run. Or at least the establishment may force Trump to take TG as vice-president, effectively with presidential powers, and all agencies and departments will report to him. Trump is unpredictable, TG or someone else like him will be very predictable. By taking these stances he's auditioning for such a job. Trump would become a figurehead. In retrospect, I think this is what may have happened during Reagan's presidency.

357 Joe Doakes--I think you're exactly right. Painful, because Trey Gowdy was pretty much the last person in Congress I had an ounce of respect for.

358 On Gowdy, I really think the answer lies in the congressional sex fund that we still don't know who's on. I think the Awan's hacked it & Gowdy's on it. Probably Rubio, too. They're both so full of crap on this that something is afoot, they aren't this stupid
