The Morning Report 5/23/18
— Open Blogger

bestworst.jpg

Good morning kids. Midweek and as I was aggravating the links for you all, a theme emerged, and that is "the best of times, the worst of times," which all things considered could be construed as "interesting times" per the old Chinese proverb. We are seeing the truly evil machinations of the Deep State revealed day by day as the details of the plot to take out the President, spawned from the plot to install Hillary president come out. We are seeing the Democrat-Leftist-Media-Academia complex become more strident, vocal and even violent as their thousand-year reichhhhhhh-uh is dismantled bit by bit in front of their eyes. And despite the feckless backstabbing and betrayal by the GOP, the process and even machinery of "fundamental transformation" of America as founded has slowed and perhaps even ground to a halt (we haven't quite got to the point of throwing it in reverse - yet).

So while the Constitution still hangs in the balance courtesy of the bureaucracy, the courts and the politicians of the Uniparty, there are some very encouraging headlines that should give you a bit of a boost. And all of this because of Donald Trump and more crucially, because a significant portion of the citizenry, despite the propaganda and indoctrination were still able to understand that the trajectory of the nation punctuated and underscored by life in America from 2009-2016 was terribly wrong.

Let's take a gander, shall we? First up, we now have e-mails confirming the conspiracy between the FBI, CIA and the media (in this case CNN) to lay the groundwork for releasing the fictional dossier to smear and bring down PDT. In the mix are a number of links laying it all out as well as a more sanguine piece about our nation, now imperiled.

To immigration where a fine, upstanding guy who happened to be an illegal alien, happened to be in MS-13 and happened to be nicknamed "Animal" just got 40 years for stabbing a teenager to death. Meanwhile, the crackdown on border jumping is a net win for women seeking construction jobs, the ICE Director totally pwn3d a Congressfool and yet another California municipality has said "no mas" to the state's sanctuary edict.

Yesterday was primary day in several states and while the GOP-e seemed to take it on the chin in a few key races, the Dems are going to be fielding hard left candidates such as this Stacey Abrams woman from Georgia. Meanwhile, as has been reported, the Democrat double digit generic advantage of six months ago is gone and the GOP is now up +6 IIRC, for what it's worth.

Meanwhile, PDT is taking an axe to Dodd-Frank, a veteran's choice healthcare bill was signed, household income hits an all-time high and people are crediting PDT for the economic boom. And yet, the Marxist in Seattle is calling for a boycott of businesses who are opposing the insane employee head tax. And to top it off, we had a big pro business/pro freedom win at SCOTUS courtesy of Justice Gorsuch. Elections matter.

Some sobering links in the Islam department via Pam Geller on the not-so-stealth Islamization of West Virginia's schools, the fifth anniversary of Lee Rigby's horrific murder in Englandistan, and the rise of the bollards (no, that one is still down for the count although she refuses to believe it).

Internationally, the NorK summit is now in doubt, SoS Pompeo seems to be hinting at regime change as the goal in Iran via tightening the economic screws and two interesting pieces about the threat from the Chi-Coms, both in their alliance with the Farsis an Pakis as well as the potential for actual war with them inside of two years. Hmm.

From hither and yon, the wonderful, famous tolerance of liberals was on full display as Tomi Lahren got a drink as well as vulgarities hurled at her and her mother as the two sat down for a brunch, Bernardo Sandersnista is a lying hypocrite (BIRM-BIRM), the real Russian infiltration is a classic one (the environmentalist movement to sabotage our fossil fuel production) and finally we have Mike Rowe trying to revive the American work ethic contrasted with parents who had to sue to evict their 30-year-old layabout son from their house. Isn't this really the story of Average Joe et al?

Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

---

President Trump has nearly single handily destroyed bot the media and democrat party

He has made them into a knee jerk reaction machine literally against anything he says or does and it is killing them as a party.

He has made them go on record supporting illegals over Citizens, has made them call for total gun confiscation and the repeal of the 2nd amendment, made pelosi go on National TV and say there will be tax hikes if the dems take back the House, made the press and the left defend MS-13 criminal animals and got them to admit that yes, obama spied on Trump but it's OK because he was trying to protect Trump.

Plus the economy is roaring.

31 For some reason the Post Office has a rule that veterans can't sell poppies out in front of their magnificent buildings....So around here at one PO, (anyway) the veteran was told to go away:
USA Today:
As Jakus prepared his folding table and inventory of 6,000 poppies, though, the post office's plant manager told him to leave, citing a United States Postal Service policy against soliciting on post office property.

The Postal Service was cracking down on poppies.

50 Here in Gerogia Stacey Abrams, black, female of color, hard left prog  wiped out her Dem opponent in the  primary Stacey Evans, evil white female, more of a traditional lib and still partly sane and semi-fiscally responsible.  Not the least surprised and Evans shouldn't be either. This is what she and her accomplices in the Dem party  have been cultivating all these years. Sort of like Feinstein losing to the hard left Hispanic Speaker of the House.

What that?  This isn't what you meant by diversity? Well, get used to it.  This is  the tip of the iceberg. Most of you white libs are going to be to be replaced in the next few years by harder left politicians of color.  Reap what you sow.

61 Ah, Wednesday. The glide towards the weekend begins. It appears that the Mueller investigation has been blown up by the ineptitude of the plotters. Now, they are vicious and dangerous, just inept. And Trump officially announced the counter-attack, which has been already ongoing according to JackStraw. Now for my speculation: The counter-investigation has been ongoing for sometime with the US Attorney in Utah conducting it. The public announcement of it means to me that Donald Trump believes that he has enough, that there will not be a dud. It would be embarrassing to make a loud pronouncement of an investigation, to make accusations of this nature, and then find nothing and have to say "Never mind." That kind of embarrassment is something I doubt Donald Trump wants to engage in, not with something like that - who would want to be burned - and politically injured - that way? (Leave that nonsense to the Democrats.) The meeting with all of the principles - gosh, what a fertile field for speculation. Here is one - the principles, such as Rosenstein were told to play nice from now on and it will go easy on you; keep up the Resistance nonsense and you're done for, and by the way, here's what we have on you. My ponderings on this fine May morning.

62 Morning, all. Regarding the story about Brennan's plot to infiltrate the Trump campaign: ValJar and others, in cahoots with Hillary's henchmen, would have spied on any Republican front-runner in 2016, to get dirt and cause whatever trouble they could. It's their standard MO. I'll bet what happened is, when it looked like Trump would be Hill's challenger, ValJar got together with Brennan and others inside and outside the Obama Administration, and asked them for ideas on how to get dirt on Trump. The Russian angle won the sweepstakes, for reasons we may never know, and Brennan started the ball rolling. They'd have done the same to Cruz or KatShit, but they had a special rage against Trump because of all the insults he'd been flinging at Hill and Obama for a year by then.

For Houston / Harris County anyways, not speaking for the other big TX cities, the liberals took over ALL the county-wide offices that were up for election in 2016 due to the Hillary! straight-slate voters in the city.  The results have not been optimal.  Judges are siding with renters against landlords and ignoring the facts and the law.  The Sheriff is a Eric Holder wannabe.

102 One thing that worries me is whether the public's ability to rule itself - to take back the power we should have - may have become so atrophied after over a century of prog rule, that we are unable to exercise it. The result I fear is that the left will still be able to run things, mostly out of voter apathy. And this apathy developed for rational reasons. For instance, voting in local elections becomes pretty much a needless nuisance if the feds and the state governments have pretty much neutered local governments' powers (leaving, as always, the opportunity for graft.) Obviously, we aren't at the stage the Russkies were at, when the USSR fell. But we presumably aren't that far behind where the Euroweenies have gotten to. Add in the fact that I don't believe that true restorations actually ever happen, and I suspect that all anyone can do is make the kind of forecast that, as GKC pointed out, is never fulfilled. The only real consolation is that we can be sure of one thing. The experts will all be proven wrong.

Roberts' mailers started coming in about a week after Ted Poe announced his decision to retire.  Roberts went negative and ugly early against his top competitors, and especially Crenshaw once they were in a runoff.  Crenshaw stayed positive and classy and only rebuted / refuted Robert's attack ads, never attacking Roberts in retaliation.

141 There was an interview clip yesterday evening on TuCa, where he spoke with with John Kiriakou.  Kiriakou is a former CIA analyst imprisoned in the Obama years for leaking, and I don't know anything about him other than the NYT article I just read.  He was initially investigated for leaking under Bush and the case was closed for lack of evidence, and then, later on, newly appointed AG Holder reopened the case at NatSec Advisor John Brennan's specific request.  When the DOJ prosecutors determined they didn't have enough to charge him, Brennan wrote a memo instructing them to prosecute anyway.  "Make him defend himself" and "bankrupt him!" said Brennan, who hated Kiriakou.

That's what we are dealing with here.  Morally decrepit Brennan wants to use the mechanisms of government to bankrupt a man he hated, and destroy a family with five kids if he can, instead of doing the honest thing.

166 Why don't you just call the Deep State as it really is?
Halper "assisted" G H W Bush (and Reagan) back in the 1980 campaign.  Recalling that Reagan was openly apologetic to his supporters for "selecting" GHW Bush as Veep, we can conclude that the Deep State (CIA) was actively influential at least that far back.
And while you're naming names, is it not just a LITTLE curious that McConnell ditched wife #1 to marry a woman who was a GW Bush appointee AND just happens to be part of a family which is Favored By the ChiComs?
There are more, of course; I'd look with jaundiced eye at every long-serving Congresss-critter and ALL of the CIA/NSA management.  ALL of them.

203 "36 If I were Texas, I would think twice about pushing these deep blue cities. All above board of course. But to favor smaller towns and rural areas makes sense. Why should the cities get all the business deals etc? " What you say is already happening, don't worry. When you see headlines like "Jobs Surging in DFW!!!" it means that actually they are surging in the ring of vibrant, conservative suburbs that surround Dallas, not in the city of Dallas itself. The major cities - Dallas proper, Houston proper, San Antonio, Austin are primarily LGBT, black, and Mexican. They concentrate there. But that's why people who survey the major cities and pay attention to them get Texas so wrong, that's not the part that drives the State. In yesterday's primary, Texas Democrats nominated for Governor the ex-Sheriff of Dallas County, Lupe Valdez, a Mexican Lesbian. She's a perfect representative for the city culture, and I am actually sure that she and this Chief Acevedo from Houston are good friends. But if anyone thinks that a Mexican Lesbian has a chance of winning the Governor's chair... well they just don't know anything about Texas at all.

Yes, the DC swamp manages to take care of its own, but Trump is a guy who gets off on fighting his enemies and taking revenge. Is his running for president and #Winning after the coordinated attack on him by Obama and Seth Meyers at the WHCD not a good example of that? That's what gives me hope that things might turn out differently than if these investigations were run under a Democrat or GOPe administration. Maybe I'm a fool? We'll see...

BAM! Suddenly whenever I try to log on to RedState, I get "this account has been disabled". Well doesn't bother me - let's me know that their true colors are still the same. So die, Salem, die.

The thing I wish I did earlier in my life was long term retirement savings.

Start something at 20 , no matter how small and get used to putting away $50 a month just to learn the habit, and always max out the retirement savings where you work even if it mean PB&J on Friday night.  When you are young, time is your friend, let it work for you.

I was enjoying reading his stuff (Goodbye Columbus and Portnoy's) and was looking to read American Portrait when I stumbled into an interview with him by NYTs(?) where he went full tilt crazy about Sarah Palin. Oddly, he was the one that brought her up. His reaction was the clinical definition of irrational bigotry. After that, I had no interest in reading anymore Roth. To sum up his style, I would call it later day Hawthorne with insights provided by Freud. I'm sure Freud had a bigger following in the 50's and 60's, but that has since waned. Having lived in Newark it was interesting to read what Newark was like before I got there. But, yeah, his interview ruined it for me.

Posted by: Cuthbert the Witless at May 23, 2018 09:11 AM (ymnmz) ++++++++++ This. Habits are vital. I spent my 20s digging out of my massive debt overhang from college and post-college "getting my life moving" expenses. As I earned more, I retired more debt. It became the norm and my default mode. Once the debt was gone, I felt *really* rich. I still behave this way - I just save it now instead of paying a creditor. The first six months of being in this mode was difficult because I was earning a living and had to make choices - buy this thing I fancied or say "no" and pay off what I had already brought. After that much time (for me, anyway) it became normal and then it became a game of "how much can I pay off with this paycheck?" Getting started in that mode was very hard but ultimately my quality of life went up a lot.

Something you probably shouldn't try, but it's true: if you find a rattlesnake fully extended on the ground, it can't strike, it has to be coiled to do that. And if you pick it up by the tail, close to the rattles, and hold it out at arm's length, it doesn't have enough strength to pick up it's body weight so it will just hang there. 290 >>Bingo. He was a DoJ witness in a case against Russians in March 2018 and then a supposed Russian player in October 2018? Riiiiight! There's a lot of noise and misdirection going on right now. Not surprising since the investigation is zeroing in on the truth. The spying is mostly noise and half-truths designed to cover from the real issue which is the use of the FISA warrant to get access to the electronic records of everyone remotely connected with the Trump campaign. The Nunes/Gowdy meeting tomorrow is focused on getting the information that justified the FISA warrant. That is a key piece and it will show that there was no solid evidence and the FBI/DOJ used mostly the bogus dossier to justify the warrant and they lied to the FISC. Repeatedly. What will eventually come out is that they were spying on Trump and others for years but they were forced to stop when Rogers caught them. They needed that warrant to get back into the system. As big as the Trump spying issue is, the real issue is much bigger.

309 Ted Cruz numbers - Puh LEAZE!!! I've played with Texas numbers for years, predicting (for my own amusement) final poll numbers based on primary vote numbers, and for the past 10 years or so, I've been able to predict the final numbers within 1%. (Wendy and Abbot was a notable race where this worked) What I get from my method is November - Ted Cruz, 66%, Beto, 33% (and 1% scattered among writ-ins) The deviations you may see among current polling from those numbers are just a measure of how faked those current poll numbers are. (a good way to slant the polls - only survey the LGBT/Mexican/Black voters inside Houston and Dallas proper) the in-state Texas polls are all notoriously fake. And wait for it, even though it's still many months away - they will keep up the fake reporting until late October, and then in the last week they will start saying "oooh, the race is shifting!!!!" and then the day before the race, they will admit that Cruz and Abbott will both win by 2 - 1 margins. And then they will say "oh our polls were always right, they just shifted at the very end." No, their polls are always lies, but they shift them towards the actual numbers at the very last minute so that they can pretend they weren't.

379 Survivors Diary: Day 210 A breakthrough! We managed to build a simple Aeopile, an obselete steam engine developed in Roman times. Our goal is to scavenge enough copper wire the next time we try to "repair" Jonah Goldberg's Expresso machine. It's broken because there's no electricity, but he keeps screaming "The Washington Consensus demands Coffee". Our goal is to use the Aeopile as an inverter/generator to charge an old flip phone. It should work for an emergency call. Shapiro almost saw the Aeopile, but we'd cleverly placed in on top of a coffee table. And since Shapiro's platform shoes disintegrated weeks ago he can't see over the table. The problem is fuel. We orginally planned to burn a copy of Hillary's "What Happened" to boil water andake steam for the Aeopile, but Kristol has began sleeping with his copy. We've been out of toilet paper or other combustibles for weeks. We may need to break into the Holy Shrine of Jeb and use the paper mache bust instead.

Texas Democrats don't even understand how totally they have screwed themselves this fall, because they can't admit the way that they have focused their entire parties efforts on Ethnic Appeal for 20 years now. Black voters are a HUGE part of the Dem party in Texas, they vote 90% plus for Dems and have the most heavily organized voter turn out operations of any group. Guess what's happened over the last 20 years whenever Texas Dem's neglect to put a black face in one of the top slots? Black voters simply refuse to show up - that's a big part of what killed Wendy Davis. in this years primary's, black candidates got "blackballed" from any of the high profile offices - looks like Mexicans have taken over the Texas Dem Party. Yep, this is what the dems said they wanted - and their most loyal, long term base of support is about to take their ball and go home. Too bad, so sad.

405 Re: drivers without insurance. True story - In the early 90s, my mother was at the library, her car parked on the street in front. As she was walking out, she witnessed someone sideswipe it right there. There happened to be a cop parked nearby who then stopped the guy. After a few minutes, he came over and told my mom that the guy didn't have insurance and she would have to turn it into hers. She was livid. She asked the cop what he was going to do to the guy for driving without insurance. Of course, the cop said he'll be cited, etc etc etc. You can sue him.... She said she wasn't going to sue him because judging by his appearance and the car, there was nothing to sue for. She then told the cop, "IF any of you ever pull me over in this town, I will get out of the car and scream 'Rape!'" A few months later, she was with my sister in the car and they were driving down a notorious speed trap street (limit 25 and they watch it). It's not residential, just lined with a few warehouses and rundown old buildings. The cop was sitting there. She said to my sister, "Watch this." She then sped up to around 40 mph. Sure as hell, the cop pulled out, turned his lights on. A few seconds later, the lights went off and he turned down another street.
