Suspected Police Assassin is Cornered by Police
UPDATE: No He's Not; Suspect Still at Large

— Gabriel Malor

Apparently, they tracked Maurice Clemmons to a house in east Seattle around 8:00pm last night, but they haven't moved on him yet. My friend @redhk, who lives a few blocks away from the scene, says the police helicopters hovered all night. A thorough round up is here, including witness statements from the crime that I hadn't seen anywhere else.

UPDATE (8:30AM PST): Police entered the home, but Clemmons wasn't there.

1 I thought I heard he was dead on the radio?

2

They are taking there time going in, seems like he's wonded.  I hate if he bleed to death,

NOT

3 Jean, can't find any news on that.  Looks like they're not sure he's even in the house.

Posted by: Gabriel Malor at November 30, 2009 04:35 AM (Mi2wf)

4 If he took a slug to the leg, as the report says, he'll bleed out pretty damn quick. Clearly someone gave him a ride, so they would know if he was wonded.

Posted by: Kemp at November 30, 2009 04:37 AM (2+9Yx)

5 My local paper (on line) and Fox are reporting that he IS wounded and MAY be dead.

Posted by: Vic at November 30, 2009 04:40 AM (CDUiN)

6 fuck him. Get some info out of him, then let him bleed to death.

7 .....and yet, only one little headline on Drudge about it.  Three new headlines about Woods though.

8 Make sure he's unarmed, then let Mrs. Woods in with a 5-wood.

9 The Huckabee supporters seem just as brainwashed as the O-bots, rationalizing this away.  My favorite (read: even I can't parse that kind of crazy) defense was "he's not the current governor of AR, so he bears no responsibility for criminals he released when he was."  Huh?

Posted by: HeatherRadish at November 30, 2009 04:56 AM (NtiET)

10 Before I found out he was just a violent nutter, I was half-hoping he'd get away with it. The victims were probably good cops, and didn't deserve this. But cops are being increasingly pushed into the role of an occupying army, and when that happens, they're fair game. I'm glad he got hit though. Early reports were that they hadn't even had time to draw, and it would be a crime to have somebody that lame on the public payroll.

Posted by: Jeffrey Quick at November 30, 2009 04:57 AM (g9neE)

11 So my original speculation (drugs, possible mob hit) was wrong. It turns out it really was a "voices in the head" guy. This is why the "24 hour rule" is always a good idea to follow.

I see that Huck is spinning like an Iranian centrifuge today, singing the "It's not my fault!" song. It won't matter -- his presidential aspirations are as dead as dogshit over this mess. And given that the perp is (apparently) black, it should generate a lot of sturm und drang from the punditry over the next few days....

12 We need to take him alive so we can kill him properly

Jean I started reading that story (from Politico) based on the headline. But after reading the initial few paragraphs I realized that it was yet more BS supporting Obama. I quit reading it.

Politico is just another liberal rag.

18 Fox is reporting that they have fired tear gas into the house with no response.

They are expecting a big break soon.

Posted by: Vic at November 30, 2009 05:08 AM (CDUiN)

19 Hey Drudge,  Tiger Woods is NOT IMPORTANT.

Drudge is a more boring version of TMZ or The Superficial these days. Breitbart is where you go for breaking news.

21 Vic, the fact that they are even discussing their messiah in terms of potential negatives is a big deal.

Posted by: Jean at November 30, 2009 05:15 AM (7K04W)

22 I remember watching a "Worlds Most" series of dangerous police activity.

In Russia, they DON'T fuck around with shit stains like this.  That is probably the only thing I commend Russia for.  They had a guy trapped in a bus that had just murdered somebody.  They fired about 3 flash bangs into the bus and dragged the perp out with is hair smoking all the while beating the shit out of him.

THAT is what our cops need be allowed to do.

26 There is no way these cops are going to shoot this guy. Obviously he has no hostages. They are approaching him with robots. The cops will sit there till the guy comes out. Arkansas has already waived extradition on him so Wash can prosecute and I'm sure they have no death penalty. Not that they would use. This guy will enjoy a very long pleasant life in a Wash jail. He'll probably become an Imam in there or something. Write a few poems and kids will wear t-shirts with his picture on it.

28 This guy is holed up in the same neighborhood that the officer was assassinated in on Halloween by the domestic terrorist.  Coincidence?  I'm wondering if these 2 shitbags knew each other and plotted together.

29 Fox now reporting that he was not in the house.

Also, that he is wounded in the stomach.

30 A sad and senseless tragedy that could have been avoided.

Let's hope this debacle is a career ender for the Huckster.

Yeah, tell that to the officers' family.  Tell that to their children.  And remember that when you have to call 911 because some savage is threatening you or your family with a gun.  And make sure to thank them, because we help people every day, whether they like us or not.

33 Is anyone doing any digging on how much this guy was taken up with the prison Muslims during his 11 years in the pen? Isn't it kind of odd the way soldiers and police officers are being targeted all over the country but a series a random "crazy" guys?

Posted by: Rocks at November 30, 2009 05:46 AM (Q1lie)

34 @33, He's a troll, he's trying to generate a response for someone. Ignore him. Every moron who reads this thread knows he probably is in his Mom's basement wanking it to midget tranny pron.

35 really need some cleanup on 10. now that CCC's are out I guess it's time for Disaffected Desperate Dissenters.
Don't fall for it navycopjoe. Good reason to be pissed at him but there are too many examples of that very real problem to hope for more unwarranted police killings.

36 Today, I woke up to find my boyfriend watching me sleep. I asked him if he was staring at me because he was in love. He replied that it was because my farting wouldn't let him sleep.

37 I remember, vaguely, Huckabee and his pardons.

I found a great article in the Arkansas Leader from 1994:
" He has issued more commutations and pardons than all of the six neighboring states combined."

This isn't at all surprising, he was simply reckless with his pardons.

38 Today, I made out with a guy that I had just met at a party. It was my first kiss. I don't know what's worse, the fact that my first kiss is at the age of 23, or the fact that I saw him making out with a different guy later on in the night

Posted by: Jeffrey Duick at November 30, 2009 05:53 AM (LdYLm)

39 Huckabee is attempting to dodge all responsibility for this. The New York Times has a quote from his political action committee stating that "Late Sunday night, Mr. Huckabee’s political action committee released a statement saying that “a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State” would be to blame if Mr. Clemmons were found responsible for the shootings." Speechless with rage.

Also the NYT is claiming that Clemmons was recently arrested for assaulting a police officer and raping a child. Does anyone know if Clemmons was indicted, and if so, how the fuck did he not get hold until trial or disposition.

40 Today, I woke up feeling awesome. I turned to face the sunrise in the window, and as I stretched and let out a big yawn. Only for my boyfriend to say "Baby, turn back over. Your breath smells like turds."

Posted by: Jeffrey Duick at November 30, 2009 05:54 AM (LdYLm)

41 Oops, the article is from 2004.

Huck can't escape this, he pardoned people as a matter of course.  He wasn't the least bit careful.

Posted by: AmishDude at November 30, 2009 05:56 AM (T0NGe)

42 Apparently his sentenced was commuted and he was released. He violtaed parole and sat in jail for 3 years before prosecutors presented charges on the parole violations. His lawyers argued that was too long and instead of fighting it the prosecutors just dropped the charges so he was not in violation of his parole at that point and had to be released. Then he skipped to Washington.

Police entered the house. Clemmons wasn't home.

Wyatt - This couldn't happen soon enough to the douche in aisle #10, as far as I'm concerned.  I doubt he has a family - reptiles normally don't keep their young with them for long.

50 I see that Huck is spinning like an Iranian centrifuge today, singing the "It's not my fault!" Actually, given that the State of Washington had the suspect in their custody for some child rape and let him go, I'd say Huck doesn't have as big a plate of warmed-over crow to chow down as he might otherwise had.
