Surprise: Networks Ignore Yet Another Successful Missile Defense Test
— Ace

The test had two twists: the interceptor was launched from an airplane, and the target was a two-stage missile whose warhead separated from the main missile.

So, this was new, and it was news.

The networks didn't cover it and neither, it seems, did most print outlets.

Dave in Texas did over the weekend. I guess he just doesn't understand the importance of The Narrative (TM).

Update: Newsbusters did find one network reference to the test since they first published the post. The "Today" show mentioned the test once in a 9 AM news summary.

2 If the media can avoid the missile interceptor... uh, could I borrow your media and some duct tape?

This is just a one-off success, and does not constitute a trend. We report only on trends. Last 6 tests were successful one-off events too, and thus went unreported.

Dave in Texas is an honorable man.  However, his ability to read and type do not represent real reporting skills and doesn't qualify him to comment on such matters.

Instead, I will rely on douchebags who's sole qualification is they were such pathetic losers in high school they worked on the school paper and yearbook committee which propeled them to four blissful years honing their typing skills in journalism school and understanding their job was to report what the intelligentsia already believed.

12 The target missile was launched from a C-17.  The THAD interceptor was launched from a ground facility at Kaua'i.  The crew that was responsible for the intercept were not told in advance of exactly when the test would occur.  It looks like the US will have for the first time in history a functional ABM system.  Of course, one of Obama's first acts as President will be to shut it down.  Wouldn't want to have an unfair over our enemies.
