It seems many of us lately know what Noah experienced.

Quotes of The Day

Quote I

Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely. Auguste Rodin

Quote II

Shouldn't the issue of Middle Eastern Christians wake up European civilization to its core identity? Shouldn't we in Europe and the West be telling ourselves that these attacks are also aimed at us? Mathieu Bock-Côté,

Quote III

A large group of Hollywood actors and Washington media are consoling each other in a hotel ballroom in our nation's capital right now. They are gathered together for the White House Correspondents' dinner -- without the President. And I could not possibly be more thrilled than to be more than 100 miles away from Washington's swamp, spending my evening with all of you and with a much, much larger crowd and much better people. President Donald J. Trump

Nature, unpredictable and brutal at times. Stunned onlookers watch survival of the fittest.

Nine orcas circle a grey whale and her calf as people on tour with Monterey Bay Whale Watch look on. Several other killer whales join in on the attack.
They grey whale appears skinnier than the average grey whale making her easy prey. She tries to protect her calf, but the orcas prevail.
It only takes four minutes for the whales to complete the kills. It usually takes about 20 minutes for a killing according to Black

Vanity plates, we have all seen them. You apply with an extra fee and then some little pencil neck geek stamps approval or throws the application away. A new word on plates has been banned.

A Star Trek fan in Canada has been forced to turn over his personalized license plate after people complained its message, ASIMIL8, was insulting to indigenous people.

Manitoba Public Insurance revoked Nick Troller’s personalized license plate that read ASIMIL8, a nod to the Borg in Star Trek.

I wonder if FOAD has been taken?

Depending on your view the earth has been around from a million + years to about 6,000. Procreation has kept us going. Birds/Bees etc., need to study?

More government waste, Penis Study. Is it the size of the penis or how one use's it?

When an orca whale penis recently was delivered from Sea World to her lab, Brennan exclaimed, “Holy cow. Oh wow. Oh my goodness. It’s enormous! So this is the tip right there. It’s not super long, it’s just wide.”

New England Public Radio reported that “Although Brennan has spent 20 years studying the sex organs of marine animals, she’s never seen anything this big. It takes up an entire lab sink.”

My parents came from a time and place where sparing the rod was considering spoiling the child. What caused the collapse of parental authority?

You’ve been there. You’re in the store, minding your own business when suddenly you hear the angry screams of a child, interspersed with:

“Johnny, get up off the floor this instant!

I mean it, Johnny! By the time I count to three…

Johnny, mommy will give you a cookie when we get to the car if you get up off the floor.”

Unfortunately, such a scenario is all too real in a society which no longer seems to value parental authority. In fact, parental authority seems to have all but disappeared in many families. Instead, children are given the velvet glove treatment – their desires must always be fulfilled, their whims never crossed.

Among men, we find no evidence that minimum wage increases improve health; instead, we find that such increases lead to worse health outcomes, particularly among unemployed men........

When one thinks of Buddhist Monks, what do you think of? Dedication? Non-vioent? Peaceful? Well, if you thought of peaceful you aren't alone. However, Monks with guns.

But when I asked them about the attacks on Buddhist monks, their cool analysis changed to passionate outrage. They said that murdering a Buddhist monk was the very worst thing a person could do – and if they caught the perpetrators, they would kill them. The expression of such rage, and their justification for violence in response to an attack on Buddhist monks, was shocking. I, like many, had thought that Buddhists were peaceful and that their religion abhorred violence.

Spoony's Patreon used to haul in about 5k a month and now it's barely 800 a month. Protip - if you're a YouTuber, don't spit on your fans.

They generally follow the style, look and tone of classic 1970s and 1980s strips. 58 So I'm standing in the check out line in Target, before the days of the great bathroom controversy, and there is this boy child. Ten maybe, and he is looking at candy bars, and says "MOM!" She is ignoring him. "MOM!" "MOM!" "MOM!" Obviously he is going to ask permission to get some candy. Mom continues to ignore him. "MOM!" "MOM!" Demanding tone of voice, and now it is a contest of wills. Can she pretend to not hear him. Can she remain determined to not respond. Can he make her respond to his demands. "MOM!" "MOM!" When I was that age, that behavior would get me a fat lip. Nowadays, giving an insolent kid a fat lip gets the parent some jail time, and perhaps loss of custody of the kid. Now that ten year old kid is probably an antifa activist.

65 Christopher R Taylor, hmm, it kind of depends. It's true that some of Schulz's strips from the 1960s through the 1970s, while still funny, also feature *extreme* black humor and frankly depressing situations. CMS used to even say, "what makes it funny is that it's not happening to *you*, it's happening to someone else." But sometime around 1990, I think when CMS's health started really deteriorating, and he could tell he wasn't going to be able to keep going forever and starting thinking about his legacy... I've noticed the strips seemed to become a bit lighter, happier, and less bleak. Schulz even did a series where Charlie Brown was able to defend his sister from a bully; that's in contrast to a similar series of strips he did in the 1960s, when CB chickened out and had to have Linus do the dirty work. There was also a series in the 1990s where Charlie Brown has to go to the hospital, and Lucy is so upset, she cries; which shocks everyone else, including Linus, and Marcie says out loud that she loves "Chuck." Finally, there was one, which I consider one of the best, where Lucy delegates her "pulling the football" away duty to Rerun, her and Linus' youngest brother. When Rerun returns, Lucy asks "so did you do it right? Did you pull away the football?!?" Rerun merely responds, "You'll never know." So I think the strip got at least a little bit better, easier and more fun to read, at least at the end. I give Schulz credit for that and finally giving good ol' Charlie Brown a break, somewhat.

72 boulder terlit hobo: oh, yeah. There's been Peanuts anime done too. On top of that, there's a play, "Dog Sees God," that uses the Peanuts characters (although it's unauthorized by the Schulz family, so all the character have coded names) to tell a story about older teenagers.

73 There was also a series in the 1990s where Charlie Brown has to go to the hospital, and Lucy is so upset, she cries; which shocks everyone else, including Linus, and Marcie says out loud that she loves "Chuck." I remember this one. It was Patty who almost lost it in tears and then Marcie, all chipper, says "I want to marry him!". I think it was the 80s though. (Remember, Marcie and Patty were in a different school than Lucy and Charlie; that is why Patty played on an opposing baseball team.) That was a good sequence. Patty reacted to Marcie's off-kilter profession of love by trying to check HER into the hospital, lol.

88 Schulz also did some great topical stuff. There was one sequence of strips in the 1980s, when Peppermint Patty became convinced by a fire-and-brimstone preacher that the end of the world was coming any minute now. Marcie had to keep consoling her and keeping her in touch with the facts, and Peppermint Patty finally sees the truth when she finds out that said preacher just spent a zillion dollars on a new church complex that won't even be open for years. Schulz himself mentioned later on that he did it because he, like me, couldn't stand "end-of-days preaching." Just one more reason I love the guy.

I mean it, Johnny! By the time I count to three... Johnny, mommy will give you a cookie when we get to the car if you get up off the floor." Unfortunately, such a scenario is all too real in a society which no longer seems to value parental authority. In fact, parental authority seems to have all but disappeared in many families. Instead, children are given the velvet glove treatment - their desires must always be fulfilled, their whims never crossed. Shut up and give me a cookie!!1!

162 This is a bit weird, got it from my Dad thru his cousin. Linda explains why Obama has a CT SS number... WHY DID IT TAKE 8 YEARS? Subject: SSN - Obama For those of you who don't know her, at the very bottom of this article is the attorney's name who authored this article. She is John Wayne's daughter, Aissa Wayne, also a USC graduate. Jean Paul Ludwig (deceased) or Barack Hussein Obama? SSN#042-68-4425 WOW, read this, it's short and very interesting. An intensive 6-year investigation has revealed the identity of the man whose Social Security Number (SSN) is being used by President Obama. Jean Paul Ludwig, who was born in France in 1890, immigrated to the United States in 1924, and was assigned SSN 042-68-4425 (President Obama's current SSN) rec'd on or about March 1977. Mr.Ludwig lived most of his adult life in Connecticut. Because of that his SSN begins with the digits 042, which are among only a select few reserved for Connecticut residents. Barack H. Obama never lived or worked in that state! Therefore, there is no reason on earth for his SSN to start with the digits 042. None whatsoever! J. P. Ludwig spent the final months of his life in Hawaii, where he died. Conveniently, Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, worked part-time in the Probate Office in the Honolulu Courthouse, and therefore had access to the SSNs of deceased individuals. The SSA was never informed of Ludwig's death, and because he never received Social Security benefits, there were no benefits to stop and therefore, no questions were ever raised. The suspicion, of course, is that Dunham, knowing her grandson was not a U.S. Citizen, either because he was born in Kenya, or became a citizen of Indonesia upon his adoption by Lolo Soetoro, simply scoured the probate records, until she found someone, who died who was not receiving Social Security benefits, and selected Mr.Ludwig's Connecticut SSN for her grandson Barry Obama. Although many Americans do not understand the meaning of the term"natural born", there are few who do not understand that if you are using someone else's SSN it is a clear indication of fraud, and a federal offense. Posted by: rickl at April 30, 2017 05:58 PM (sdi6R)

165 Jack Sock, no. The little red-haired girl was actually the "girl that got away" from Schulz, in 1948. Her name was Donna Wold and I believe she only recently passed away. She actually had red hair, and her and CMS dated for I think about two years while he was working at Art Instruction Schools in St. Paul, MN. The story is that when Schulz actually proposed to her in 1948, it turned out she was also dating another guy, (unknown first name) Wold, who had also-- of course, just Charles' luck-- proposed to her. Supposedly Donna was so torn, she went to her own mother, who asked what each one of them did for a living. "Well, one's a plumber and the other is an artist," Donna said. Guess which one Donna's mom thought was a better, more stable catch? In the Schulz bio "Good Grief," which came out in 1988, CMS said he went from having a great relationship with her to not being able to ever see her again, in the space of days; and also, that it took him years to get over it, and he wasn't sure if he ever really even did.

205 162 This is a bit weird, got it from my Dad thru his cousin. Posted by: Colorado Alex In Exile at April 30, 2017 11:44 PM (Tnhbr) That is the easiest answer, and in the 70's to get federal bennies, you needed a SS#. She was probably told that an office in CT was quicker and easier than going to the one in Boston. These were the reasons needed for a SS# that started in the 70's: 1972 Legislation authorizes SSA to assign SSNs to all legally admitted noncitizens at entry and to anyone receiving or applying for a federal benefit. 1973 SSNs are used for the Supplemental Security Income program. Also, the Department of Treasury requires buyers of Series E savings bonds to provide an SSN. 1975 Legislation requires an individual to have an SSN as a condition of eligibility for federal benefits. 1976 Legislation authorizes states to require an SSN for taxes, eligibility for state programs, driver's licenses, and motor vehicle registrations. 1977 Legislation requires disclosure of SSNs for members of Food Stamp households. 1981 Legislation requires disclosure of SSNs of all adult members of a household that includes children applying for the school lunch program. 1982 Legislation requires applicants for federal loan programs to furnish SSNs. 1983 Legislation requires an SSN for all interest-bearing accounts.

237 Well, at last back home. Basically, I went around the world since April 21. Spent six days in Sri Lanka on business. What fun Actually, the people there are very sweet and friendly, but it is a poor country. It makes you very self conscious when you stay in a very nice hotel, too. And hot. It's hot there. Hot and humid. Right on the equator, just about. The days and nights are all about the same length, year around. It seems that in Sri Lanka (now that the Tamils have been put down), Buddhists, Muslims, Christians and Hindus all sort of get along. I was told it was in part because everybody celebrates everybody else's holidays. Everybody loves a party, don't they? But it is primarily, culturally, a Buddhist country. The very nature of Buddhism is something of a fatalistic acceptance of the world, and to spend your life in search of inner enlightenment.

239 True, I was born in 55 and had to get SS# to get a job at 16. Wonder what was the rule in 1961? when BO was born? I suspect it was the same, they weren't done at birth. The SS# was supposed to be about work, not a permanent govt ID. In fact the original law specifically forbids using your SS# as an identity number. Funny that. FOUR DAYS after they bought their wedding bands, and ONE WEEK before the wedding... Wells started talking pre-nup. Result? "You don't love me!!" Russian girl broke up with Wells." Speaking as someone who is married to a Russian, speaks Russian, and has been to Russia about fifteen times, this was absolutely predictable. I don't know about the billionaire class in Russia, but otherwise there are absolutely no pre-nups in Russia - and any Russian woman would treat a demand for one as a complete betrayal. You're not dealing with jaded upper-class Californians here. And to spring this on her a week before the wedding - you think Weir could have found a Russian person to explain Russian culture to him, and explain that demanding a pre-nup was going to turn out very, very badly. P.S. She can only apply for a green card after the marriage - she doesn't have one yet.
