Slublog's Proposal For Immigration
— Ace

A good starting point, it seems to me.

1 Oh sure, it all seems "reasonable", but if you read between the lines, you'll notice he carefully omits the words "concentration camps" and "ovens" and "lampshades."

Well, we won't stand for it pendejos!

2 Damn.  la Raza discovered out not-so-secret plan.

3 Yes, a good starting point. I disagree with the notion that we cannot round up and deport them all. We certainly can't get them all, but I don't doubt there are many millions we could deport in short order (and millions that would leave if they though arrest was imminent) if there was any political will to do so. I certainly also believe we should bar anyone we might grant citizenship to from bringing their extended family in from their home country.

4 Damn. la Raza discovered out our not-so-secret plan.

Spell check dammit.

5 Is it illegal to shoot from Texas, into Mexico? Whose laws apply? Just saying, if I was cleaning my AK with 100 round clip...and it went a southern direction.....Hello Dave? Say I was shooting fish in the Rio Grande....and I hit a north swimming scuba diver, and they floated back south again? Could I get in trouble for that?

6 All we need is one terrified Mexican running back home saying "They shoot you!"

Game over.

7 Just put up "Beware of Chupacabra" signs and be done with it.

And also create some in our secret labs just to reinforce the point.

8 Having a 2000 mile long border with a third world narco-state just isn't fun anymore.

Posted by: eman at December 31, 2006 03:44 PM (FWrFx)

9 Maybe if we just get some big speakers and blast the Village People all along the border?

Posted by: Purple Avenger at December 31, 2006 04:51 PM (GlKkD)

10 If we drag Madonna along the length of the border, the stench of a worn-out useless whore should keep them out.

Posted by: eman at December 31, 2006 05:04 PM (FWrFx)

11 Why deport them when you can just shoot them?

12 I'm still not sure I'm cool with penalizing the employers. They wouldn't be hiring illegals in the first place if we weren't already penalizing them for hiring legals. Is the notion of just decriminalizing enterprise totally beyond the pale?

13 I would advocate something much simpler. Build the wall, certainly, but then just stick to one rule -- for every person coming in, one goes out. Just to kickstart the program, we could try a new twist on "releasing inmates from overcrowded prisons" -- release 'em on the other side of the border.

14 The Mexipult 9000 Illegal-Launcher developed by Raytheon should do the trick.

15 Slublog's proposal begins well enough. Yet, he misses the boat in his lameting our inability to deport the people who are currently here illegally. I, as well as many others, opine that once employment of invaders becomes nigh impossible that their incentive for staying here will be eliminated. Hence, they'll largely remove themselves.

I believe Boortz suggested that guest-worker programs should be in place such that aliens must initiate the process at their countries of origin. That, too, would add an incentive for them to leave. They could then re-enter legally for some specific amount of time for a particular employer. This would pass my "no amnesty bullshit" test but, as Slublog stated, nothing such as this would ever pass.

Off-topic: it's one hour away from the new year. Why am I still sober? And why am I sitting here posting at some moron blog? What the hell is the matter with me?! You know, beside the fact that I'm too broke to afford a cab around here...

16 Thanks for the thoughtful comments, Perpetual Student.  I prefer the leave by attrition policy myself, but tried to strike a balance between the 'deport them all now' and the 'total amnesty' sides of the debate.  It's going to be an interesting debate, regardless.

Now go get drunk.

17 You're welcome! I'm actually in agreement with your numbered points. But, I just had to take exception to that one statement as it makes appearances all too often within these discussions.

I'm still woking on a buzz, though. Damn it.

19 If we offered like a $5,000 reward for turning them in, they'd be turning each other in.
