Shock: Hillary! Comes Out For Socialism
— Ace

No one saw this coming.

Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined a broad economic vision Tuesday, saying it's time to replace an "on your own" society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.

The Democratic senator said what the Bush administration touts as an "ownership society" really is an "on your own" society that has widened the gap between rich and poor.

"I prefer a 'we're all in it together' society," she said. "I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none."

That means pairing growth with fairness, she said, to ensure that the middle-class succeeds in the global economy, not just corporate CEOs.

"There is no greater force for economic growth than free markets. But markets work best with rules that promote our values, protect our workers and give all people a chance to succeed," she said. "Fairness doesn't just happen. It requires the right government policies."

In related news, I'm virtually camped out by my mailbox waiting for my share of the Clintons' considerable wealth.

1 They may put on many different faces, but all Dem candidates are Marxists under the skin.

2 Heh, you'll be waiting a long time.

I'm convinced that socialism has big appeal for so much of the elite because it basically puts a ceiling on the level of success people can attain, which makes a stasis so that the wealthy can maintain their position without competition.

7 Check this crazy shit out...they are for real, they get funding for this. They have changed it from just being human activity to affluent people being the cause of all global warming. Of course, the roots are in the groundbreaking work done in the 70's.

Got a nice write up in the MSU magazine recently.

Jesus, I hope she gets a chance to try selling that shit in a national election.

We'll be looking at  McGovern '72 all over again.

a sinister ploy:

get Fox to run a "The View" retrospective all day on election day. half of her constituency won't get off of the couch to go vote.

10 Womyn and subcreatures, I ask you is it fair that the evil Repulican voters – who have supported the march of America down the road of imperialism – should be allowed to continue their destruction of all we hold dear? Remember, fairness doesn't just happen. It requires gulags.

Now, if we could only get her, and her Fellow Travelers, to apply their Collectivist "we're all in it together" thinking to the WOT, we could get somewhere.

P'haps?

What's really staggering about this is that the leftards see no hypocrisy in Her Thigness's position.  They're perfectly okay with an elitist overclass as long as it's populated solely by leftists who share their vision.  Hell, most of them probably still fantasize that they'll get to rise that high themselves.

Fascists, all of them.

"Fairness doesn't just happen. It requires the right government policies."

Remember when McCain said he would trade freedom of speech for good government?  Somehow that's what I thought of when I read this.  In my opinion this quote belongs right there with this famous quote:

"Give me liberty or, barring that, government policies that will ensure fairness or give me death."

Yeah. That's about as plain a statement of abject socialistic nonsense as can be imagined. She's been pretty open about it in the past though, she's a flat out out and out socialist. Her and Segolene Royal are sisters in ideology.

18 We've known that Shrillary was a Socialist since the Hillarycare national power grab policy debate back in '93-'94. She wants to give all the decision-making power to the U.S. Government, led by herself. Bushitler? Heh, wait until Madame Mao gets into the office, people. You will see a use of the Executive power unseen in the history of this Republic.

The strongest thing America has going for it right now is the economy, and that's what she chooses to mess with?

Shit.

Exactly!  Under Her Thighness we'll see real abuses of power, and when it starts to go down, look for the same simpering dandies who currently get the vapors over nothing to either keep their heads shoved up each other's backsides in denial or, more likely, bend over backwards in Her defense.

It will be disgusting to behold.

I'm pretty sure that was the mission statement on the cover of the Whitewater Development Proposals

26 Whitewater. If what I've read is correct, people who were paying off their houses there would lose their whole investment if they were late on just one payment. It's one of the scummiest legal things I've ever heard of.

This was just apparently a bigger version of the Payday-loan, rent-to-own school of how to screw poor people who are trying to come up in the world by acqiring property.

Posted by: stace at May 29, 2007 04:04 PM (A56/D)

27 Oh yeah Whitewater was a nasty corrupt deal but they wiped out the paper trail and they got away with it. And the China deal, and the campaign financing and all the rest. And people remember it, at some level - how corrupt and nasty it was. That's part of why the left is trying so hard to make it seem like President Bush is corrupt and lies and is horrible, to bring some sense of equivalence. I don't think that part of their plan really is working. As annoying as President Bush is, I don't think people besides the bongs and treehugging crowd think he's evil.

The Democratic senator said what the Bush administration touts as an "ownership society" really is an "on your own" society that has widened the gap between rich and poor.

Translation: Hey individualists: fuck you!

"I prefer a 'we're all in it together' society," she said. "I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none."

How does "everybody on your own" equate to special privileges for some people?

29 I think I finally found a little empathy for Bill. If I had to listen to this hag, spouting this shit day and night, I'd be looking for a fat chick to blow me too.

30 "I prefer a 'we're all in it together' society," she said. "I believe
our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote
the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special
privileges for none."

I'm sure her charitable contributions and history of pro-bono legal work will attest to how these ideals are manifested in her personal life.  Ditto the way she assigned the profits from her book deal to improve school conditions in her home state of Arkansas New York.  And, in Hillary's America, every American will have their choice of private jets to fly in every day (flown by redeployed pilots from Iraq).
