As we get close to Christmas, never to early to think about shopping. How about some accessories for your AR 15? h/t from a Moron.

Do you listen to what the government tells and/or asks you? If you don't, you're not the only one. Maybe we should.

FEMA’s new director, Brock Long, has repeatedly said that Americans do not have a “culture of preparedness,” something that is much-needed with the startling uptick in natural disasters. Long has only been the director of FEMA since June 20 of this year and already has had to deal with a historic number of disasters in this short period of time.

It makes me shiver just thinking about this. The history of the lobotomy.

he surgery helped calm anxiety and reduce violence in some mental patients. Years later, they simplified the technique by going through the eye socket, using an ice pick to sever the nerves. Freeman went on a crusade to promote the new transorbital lobotomy, a surgery that could be done in ten minutes or so, and which he believed could be performed easily by non-surgeons like himself. He was so enthusiastic about the surgery........

Twins separated at birth, find one another and discover they have led similar lives.

They were twins, separated at birth, who had grown up not 45 miles from each other, and ended up leading almost identical lives.
Both Jims’ mothers’ knew their sons’ had a twin brother. Springer’s mother was under the impression that the twin had died, while Lewis’ mother knew a bit more.

What do you think weird sex is? Would involvement with skeletons count?
Sex and skeletons? These vintage samples of weird erotica are proof that the two go hand in hand.

Or at least, someone thought they did, back in the Victorian age.

The Love Machine. No, we aren't talking about Country Squire Station Wagon.

Created in the late 1960s by Hollywood auto customizer George Barris, who's best known as the designer of the original Batmobile.

The Love Machine featured velvet upholstery, a revolving circular bed, psychedelic lights, entertainment console, mirrored ceiling, and a crystal chandelier. It did the rounds at auto shows until the mid-1970s, where it was promoted as the "world's first x-rated car."

It's one thing to wear contacts. It's another to have lasik surgery. But getting a tattoo on your eye ball? That is just f*cking nuts.

A model has lost the sight in one of her eyes after getting a tattoo on her eyeball. Catt Gallinger said that the decision to get the tattoo was a ‘massive mistake’ and she is facing a long recovery from the procedure.

At one point it appeared as though she was crying purple tears from her sclera tattooo as residue escaped.

13 The trouble in Puerto Rico is lack of logistics distributing aid. The governor of PR, Rosello just announced that he had reach a deal with the Teamsters in Puerto Rico, that will allow all the thousands of containers now in San Juan to be delivered to the distribution spots. The union was holding up the deliveries of supplies as part of an effort to deal with other issues that Puerto Rico is dealing with. One of which was a cut on working days that was passed just prior to the hurricanes Irma and Maria, and other fees that they wanted to negotiate.

If you walk along the National Mall this November, you'll see the Smithsonian Museums, the Washington Monument, Capitol Hill, and, possibly, something else: a 45-foot tall nude sculpture of a woman. The Amazonian figure would tower over the National Mall next to the Washington Monument, directly facing the White House until March 28 to promote women's equality.

Years later, they simplified the technique by going through the eye socket, using an ice pick to sever the nerves." Hillary and Maxine Waters seem to have a lot of anxiety. They also have a lot of nerve. If they are mentally ill, is there some law that could be invoked to force them to be taken into a hospital and undergo the proper treatment, for their own good?

158 Speaking of love machines, a big wallet will do a lot. My wife went to a high school in Southern California. And over the years she has asked me to go back to her high school reunions. (The 55th was the last one we attended, and the 60th is not far away). One of the guys in her high school class was the absolute nerdiest one of the bunch. Short, slender, not terribly attractive etc. But he became a real estate developer. By the thirtieth class reunion, he showed up with not one but two PLaymate worthy babes--a blonde and brunette. He'd driven one to the reunion in his Ferraari. The other bimbo had to make do with driving the Bentley to the reunion. By the 50th he had built a big downtown hotel in a major Southern California city. The reunion was held in his hotel--in a ballroom on around the 20th floor. He either popped for the drinks or for the banquet--can't remember which. There was a pre dinner cocktail party in his two story penthouse on top of the hotel. The penthouse was set up as a sort of bachelor pad--complete with a fur covered circular bed with a mirror on the ceiling on the second floor. This time the fellow held himself to just one "girlfriend" a stunning redhead fully 30 years younger than his classmates. Ah well, money is the ultimate aphrodisiac.

Luckily even then I had a thick enough neck to survive a stunt like that, but after the impact I have never been able to remember why I thought that would be a Good Idea.

Our math was always to divide your weight by ten and add 20 for the mph to barefoot. Consult your ski instructor for accurate guidance on all of the above.

I don't think I would want to do a winter there. But at the same time, I was never sure when to sleep while I was there. Almost like the Philippines!!

273 Heh. Two different kinds of needles. The first was a bit of pine needle that embedded itself in my eye, the second was a doctory needle, used to remove the former. A pine needle...that makes sense. I was thinking a sewing needle. I almost got a nail in my eye. And it would have been my fault. And stupid. It happened years ago & I shudder to this day. And wonder how I could have been so stupid. Which is why I'm not telling the story. Gonna watch out for pine trees now.

Stupid and naive as I was, I had a relationship with a woman who basically used me while pining for a succession of alcoholics. I thought if I did one thing or another it was me who would win her over. Never happened. This is something I've seen women do too. Let the guy cry on their shoulder. Sometimes even sleep with him. And I've never known any of it to result in a relationship. And the ones that slept with the guys who then went back to their gfs? Yea, really messed some of them up esteem wise.

300 The first amendment doesn't disallow judgment for taste. If someone wanted to put up a 20' pile of wet turds, as some alleged "piece of art" (which I'm sure people have already done) and that they claim is a political expression of the current government or some such bullshit, there's nothing in the first amendment that says that that piece cannot still be judged on "taste" and disallowed in a public space, as it's offensive to every sense (which is the "political" point of it). There are lots and lots and lots of statues that this committee would disallow, out of hand. We all know this.

Also Kraal has some sort of motivation for hating the Federation, but we learn that too late in the movie. 402 Muldoon, I would have said you have outdone yourself in your search for the plural of moose---really, "A moose and another moose" is clearly the superlative choice---except that I also would expect that you are already on course to simply do it again. And I am so late because I live near Cali-girl and the time is really weird on the left coast. It is not exactly rationed, but it is always not available as one might hope. So I have only finished reading in the sixties but this will not post until the middle three hundreds and then it will be too late to do anything about all this kertufle. I, on the other hand, am just really stealing this and from now on when any person asks me what is the plural of a "gnue" for instance I will smile and with a nod to Muldoon, say "one gnue and another gnue. Sometimes I will even name Muldoon as the source.

490 Posted by: Margarita DeVille at October 01, 2017 12:25 AM (0jtPF) Both sides need to work towards a resolution, I agree. But we're hearing one side of the story. I don't say our beloved Morons could possibly be at fault, because night after night we hear from their own mouths what crazy, money-grubbing bitches they were married to, and it must be true, because why else would they still be single after all these years? But my own observations of friends and family is that it starts way early on with the woman, usually a combination of hormonal changes and sleep deprivation after childbirth combined with letting resentment about completely non-sexual things build up to the point where she just can't hardly stand to be around the guy, and yet she wouldn't tell him when it started to bother her. Well, that's not fair, because she DID tell him. Except when she told him more than once, she was nagging him, amirite?! Fucking nagging bitch, he has is priorities ya know, and he'll take the trash out when he has less important things to do. And if she falls in the toilet in the middle of the night because he didn't put the seat down, that's her problem. Not saying it's right, not saying it's fair, but she's been telling y'all for years, and she gets her answer regularly, trust me.

549 Re the 46-1/2' statue of the nude woman that will be on the National Mall for four months - I am close to someone who works in the permit office for the National Mall and Monuments. She told me they had many meetings over this and dragged their feet before issuing the permit. Nobody at NPS is happy about this, but legal counsel informed them it was a 1st Amendment issue and they had no basis for refusing the permit. Does that mean I can put up a 60' tall Nathan Bedford Forrest monument? It's my first amendment right.

565 garrett, IMHO Poco sounds kind of like a kinder, gentler, more innocent version of the Eagles. Not as urban. Not as dense a sound. Not as worldly or cynical. Just a melody, competent singing and basic instrumentation. Sort of an 'exurban' sound, if you can understand what I mean.

578 Posted by: Margarita DeVille at October 01, 2017 01:17 AM (0jtPF) Well now, I say refusing it constantly because you don't feel like it is contrary to love, but a person has a right to be tired every now and then. I will also add that some guys are sulky about mercy fucks. Which is not something I ever really wanted to know about one of my brothers, but my SIL says it always has to be a big production. And one of my girlfriends said the same about her husband. And some of you longtime commenters will remember how I asked about that when I couldn't walk for two years and many of you assured me that he'd rather wait til I felt better and that turned out to be true. Which reminds me, I once declared to all and sundry that I had only ever refused Thor twice. He says I have said no 8 times. We have been married since 1990, and together for years before that, so I feel like that isn't too bad, but it is not what I had said before. And before you get to thinking I am some kind of sex machine, let me assure you that it is very obvious when I am not in the mood, so he always knows when it is not a good time

580 I really like the idea of installing a mini-Pinochet in PRico as an emergency territorial governor and turning it into a pure free market state. Okay, it's never going be a Hong Kong because .....well, Puerto Ricans are not Chinese. But it could be very prosperous. Under Reagan there were all kinds of "enterprise-zone" policies for PR, including exemption from a lot of US regulations, and it was doing pretty well. Then Clinton took away the tax breaks for businesses and imposed our min wage, etc. And he pumped up the welfare bennies. So it's been downhill ever since.

Hell it doesn't even have to be pron, just watching TV any more is arousal city for men. Your wife can't keep up with you, son. (And I don't mean you, personally, I mean it generally) And let's not even start talking about Viagra and all that. Men can pop that lil pill any time they want, then wonder why mama won't say yes all the time.

623 578 I will also add that some guys are sulky about mercy fucks..... my SIL says it always has to be a big production. And one of my girlfriends said the same about her husband. And some of you longtime commenters will remember how I asked about that when I couldn't walk for two years and many of you assured me that he'd rather wait til I felt better and that turned out to be true..... Posted by: Tammy al-Thor at October 01, 2017 01:29 AM (CvKkm) ------------------------------------ Well, that is the other side of what (IMO) is a modern derangement, i.e., the notion that sexual intimacy has to be a "big production" and that it it all about exotic orgasmic thrills. That's nice if you have plenty of time and privacy, which usually requires special arrangements. And yes, those arrangements should be made from time to time. But what about love and the simple human need for physical affection? How the hell did we get to the point where, unless a woman feels the way pron stars pretend to feel, it's a "mercy fuck?" What a vile term for welcoming a man's embrace just because you love him! As for being sick or disabled, please. No man who loves a woman would want to do anything he fears would cause her discomfort. Sheesh.

Posted by: Miley, the Duchess at October 01, 2017 01:55 AM (RYNzl) Most of the people I know well enough to discuss such things honestly with tell me they have sex in spurts (PHRASING!) more than regularly, (they might go weeks having sex multiple times a week, then go stretches without sex for a week or so, etc) but that it averages out to a few times a month. When they had small children, it was a lot less than that.

686 649----the notion that chicks really just aren't into sex and expecting otherwise is unrealistic just doesn't seem right. Posted by: Insomniac at October 01, 2017 02:19 AM (NWiLs) -------------------------------- As a general rule, men have a stronger sex drive than women and are more into sex-for-sex's-sake. Science! How you get from that simple fact to "chicks really just aren't into sex" I dunno. Steph Curry is not as tall as Lebron James. This does not mean that Curry is a dwarf!

689 There's actually a Poco song on the Fast Times At Ridgemont High soundtrack. Some of those track inclusions make *no sense at all* to me. I think they're only there because the record label, Asylum, insisted on them for some reason.

But, something tells me that one day you will see and touch your beloved Tim again one day. On some ethereal plane. You will see him as he was in his prime. And you will be in your prime as well. I wrote a little fantasy story about just such a thing, last summer.  156K words, and that only covered 10 months.  It was awesome, and unfinished.

Maybe I should write about being satisfied and joyful.  Better than nothing, right?

727 I'm in a retrograde phase right now, publius, but making progress.  I know Tim is filled with joy where he is.  He came back to share it with me, and that was something I'll never forget.

734 Something that always makes me cry is the last scene from "Moneyball". I watch it every time. Preface: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfCjCTHz5q8 For some background, Billy Beane introduced a new metric into baseball. He was chided and derided throughout the industry; beyond Sports Talk shows. His daughter was the product of a divorce and she wrote him a song while he was deciding to move from Oakland to Boston. It goes: "I'm just a little-bit caught in the middle Life is a maze and love is a riddle I don't know where to go Can't do it alone; I've tried And I don't know why I'm just a little girl, lost in the moment I'm so scared, but I don't show it I can't figure it out It's bringing me down; I know, I've got to let it go. ...And just enjoy the show. Slow it down, make it stop -or else my heart is going to pop 'cause it's too much, yeah it's a lot To be something I'm not I'm a fool, out of love And I just can't get enough I'm just a little bit caught in the middle Life is a maze and love is a riddle I can't do it alone Don't know where to go --I've tried And I don't know why I'm just a little girl, lost in the moment I'm so scared, but I don't show it I can't figure it out It's bringing me down; I know, I've got to let it go. ...And just enjoy the show. Dum-dee-dum, Dah-dum-dee-dum ...just enjoy the show. You're such a loser, Dad You're such a loser, Dad You're such a loser, Dad ...just enjoy the show. You're such a loser, Dad You're such a loser, Dad You're such a loser, Dad ...just enjoy the show." Clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQ-OpKJ5F58 I don't have children but this turns-on the waterworks every time.

Posted by: Eromero at October 01, 2017 05:43 AM (zLDYs) I think of Harrison as being the first in a now long line of virtue signaling rock musicians. 'Concert For Bangladesh' springs to mind. (That list now includes 'Live Aid' and 'Farm Aid', not to mention the 9/11 concert at The Garden *.) I wonder if anyone ever checked the books on that one? And to whom did they cut that check? * Speaking of which, does anyone want to remind Hillary, when she was a senator from NY, of her reception by the audience when she made her appearance? 'What Happened' indeed.
