Saturday Morning Proper Mockery of Idiots
— Dave in Texas

I've often mentioned it's a waste of time to argue with leftists. I think ace's expression for this is "you can't reason a person out of a position that they weren't reasoned into in the first place." Something like that, I still don't get the dental plan here so I don't get to sit in on the meetings.

That said, here's Greg Gutfeld doing the proper thing to Jim Carrey and Jason Biggs. Mockery and insults.

"Washed up comics have the right to suck." is pretty good, but the better line is "That's why Charlton Heston has a brighter future in films than Jim Carrey."

1 Jim  Carrey is a victim of evil Fox News which bared its fangs and gnashed its teeth or something.

2 I like how they reminded Jim he is Canadian.

3 Much as I respect Mr. Gutfeld sacred honor compels me to remind him that while Charlton heston may have marches with Dr. King and has an Oscar Jim "not as funny as drew at my best" Kerry's right ass cheek sings Day-o.....

13 Duning Kruger effect, really. You can mock these idjits with ease and smack them upside the head with the facts 9 ways to Sunday. The problem is, a very large portion of the country, thanks to the MFM and the schools, believe that Carrey and Biggs are absolutely right and righteous, whilst we are completely and utterly evil (wrong being much too nice a word for us). Unless and until we get back the tools and techniques of influence in our rotting society and culture, Gutfeld's broadsides will fall upon deaf ears and closed minds.

68 Anyway, I'm thinking the whole reason for the whole "hospitals won't even let the gay lifetime partner visit the sick one in the hospital unless they're married" is a result of HIPPA, no?

You know, "OMG, we can't have strangers able to walk into your room and see your medical records!! (And find out you're dying of/being treated for AIDS) We need laws protecting our privacy!!"

Because you know, up until the whole "AIDS crisis" there were no restrictions on who could and could not visit you in the hospital.

Anyway, $50 or less to your local lawyer gets you a HIPPA waiver to designate any and all you want the legal right to view your medical records and visit you at any time . . . .

Too bad there are no  protests at that movie   that I know of. Perhaps that one will tank on its own,  as it should.

In a sane world where everything wasn't backwards,  there would be protests. It should be a  great   offense to the families of those  killed by political domestic terrorists. And they should be loud about it. Not to mention the   glorification of   open sedition. Redford is an ass.

Like Jeff Daniels is recognized and defined by his extended gas/diarrhea on the toilet scene in Dumb and Dumber, the Biggs twat is known to those who do know him because he stuck his dick in an apple pie in some movie.

These guys both finally understand that the extent of their "talent" was the willingness to do soul-destroying, demeaning things for cash. They're just used-up whores who've found out they're not wanted in the mainstream of life.

Biggs is now the voice of a turtle in some cartoon, and I have no idea what Jeff Daniels is doing...probably something along the lines of disgusting acts behind gay porn theaters. I think he was doing something at CurrentTV for a while, so that's probably a step up.

152 Meh, Jason Biggs was in one good movie. Strangely enough, it's one of the Woody Allen movies that's pretty much universally hated by Allen's fans. Like "Deconstructing Harry" it's one of Allen's movies that doesn't play to Allen's fans expectations of the "Woody Allen" character. The movie is "Anything Else". In it, Biggs essentially plays a fairly realistic version of Woody Allen in his early days. Allen in real life is pretty much a comedy writing workaholic, who spends a lot of time simply sitting a thinking and not getting into zany predicaments. So, the role doesn't require Biggs to be particularly funny, which is something he does quite well. Woody Allen himself essentially plays Alvy Singer from "Annie Hall" only this is sort of an alternate-Allen-universe Alvy Singer, who is a failed comedian and has become unhinged ( a "gun nut"). If you watch the movie, after seeing "Annie Hall" you'll be surprised how much of Allen's dialog is simply variations on Alvy Singer's dialog, interests and obsessions. I think that's why, the film bombed so badly. Consciously or un-, Allen's fans had to realize this was pretty a huge and deliberate deconstruction of one of their most beloved movies. Anyway, worth a look if you've got nothing better to do.

Posted by: Hopeless at March 30, 2013 07:29 AM (GWxXv)

160 I think part of the problem when dealing with libs and lefties is that they have reasoned their way into whatever position they hold: they just have a habit of usually reasoning their way into a position that calls for more government and more regulations. (The more emotional kind of thinking is along the lines of (a) "if two people really love each other, why is it necessary for them to get married?" and (b) "if two people really love each other, why shouldn't they be allowed to get  married?" Don't both to mention how well the first one worked out in the past 45 years.) Point out that the facts contradict the position, and, like dopey Joe Biden said, "How do you know it wouldn't have been worse without [he said stimulus, but this works with pretty much any lib/left position.]"

171 that's not evil. People....and by people, I mean intolerant leftist twat-waffles...report the site as having infected their computers with virii. Enough people do so in short enough period of time, and the site is flagged. Blaming Goog in this case is about the same as blaming 911 for Swatting. Posted by: Sticky Wicket at March 30, 2013 11:46 AM (eyJh9) Sure I will blame Google. Because if they had conscious (and conscientious) humans running the show, somebody would twig onto the fact that they were being played by the leftards, and block such reports. But because they are leftards themselves, they won't. Fuck 'em.

Given Google's political orientation, their resolution of false positives might be very prompt in some cases, and require "the process" be followed in others.

176 >>Hey, that's good to hear. I've recently been told I'll be needing an aortic valve 'sometime in the next ten years' and it's good to hear that its not a long-term incapacity following the surgery.

Considering the constant companion of fatigue that accompanies this condition, I'm almost looking forward to the day I get mine done (ObamaCare willing--{spit}).

May I ask what your diagnosis is? The reason being is that I'd been told since I was a teen that I had a murmur, but it's nothing to worry about.

Well, my regular doc wasn't in when I had to go in for an appointment for bronchitis. His partner saw me and noticed the murmur and I told him what I had been told for 30 years. He said he didn't care what I had heard from the others and he thought it should be checked at once.

Turns out I was severly stenotic. Most ppl are born with a tri-valve. In rare cases, some are biscuspid. My cardiac surgeon told me I was born with something worse than that. I was "uni". I had very little blood passing through., and there was severe calcification.

Have you gotten a second opinion?

180 Had the valve replacement done on Monday and was home by noon on Thursday. Wow. My wife's uncle had this done 15 years ago, and he spent about a month in the hospital. When he finally got out, he could barely stand or sit for more than a few minutes. He'd lost an amazing amount of weight. If he opened his mouth, you could hear the click click click of the valve. He recovered fully after a few more months, returned to work, and retired about five years ago. He's still going strong, but they want to replace his valve again, not because it's having problems, but to reduce his chances of having a stroke because of the older valve. (They believe he's already suffered a few micro strokes because of it).

183 This shooting-at-PC targets has been around a long time. Years ago, when my wife and I had season tickets to the opera (yes, I like it), we went to a performance of Carlisle Floyd's "Susannah", which was composed in 1955 for the Metropolitan Opera. The opera is a retelling of the Biblical story of Susannah and the Elders, only reset in the American Bible belt, with the elders turned into snaggle-toothed Bible-thumping hypocrites straight out of "Inherit the Wind". It's an okay opera in the Aaron-Copland neo-WPA style, nothing special; but what caught my attention were the program notes, which described Floyd's opera as "courageous". My ass it was courageous: Mocking fundamentalists before a New York audience may require a lot of things, but courage isn't one of them. But these self-righteous fools will continue to attack people like us - or rather, their caricatures of us - before each other, then praise each other for their fortitude.

189 Google has some sharp people, they write their own compilers and do a very specialized in house Linux build for their OS's.

I'm sure if they cared to, they could have the crawlers trigger a pre-examination security scan of a site before actual indexing where the pre-examine machines present a "honey trap" fake front to the site that appears (via browser type, OS version, ports open, etc) to be a system that has known exploitable vulnerabilities.  ex. make believe you're Win98 running IE5.

If the site takes the bait, and tries to send an exploit to the honey trap machines, then you black list them.

Google and the other big search engines are in a unique position to be able to slam shut the door or at least flag sites and dime them out to the ISP's hosting them

The schools said removing Dr. Poole from the classroom was “for safety reasons” after the incident garnered a lot of media attention. With pay I am sure

193 May I ask what your diagnosis is? My GP detected a murmur a couple of years ago. That led to an echocardiogram, another to follow up, both reviewed by cardiologists. It's listed as a 'insufficiency in the aortic valve.' The cardiologist just describes this as a slow malformation of the valve over time, a 'mutation' he called it. After another follow-up, I got referred directly to a cardiologist. The echos are scheduled regularly, and they'll be charting heart function until it falls to a level where they think surgery is warranted. Right now, given the lifespan of the technology and my current heart function, they want to hold off until a) the technology improves, and b) the expected lifespan of an implant doesn't expire when I'm in my late 70s or so and wind up needing the whole thing redone at an advanced age. Funny thing is I really do think I've had this most of my life and it only got detected by my GP who has a great reputation as a top-notch, very thorough doctor.

203 Regarding arguing with leftists: I will have to concede that I have NEVER changed the mind of the person with whom I am debating. Then I began to expand my focus, and I realized there are usually eavesdropping bystanders. These bystanders have not publicly committed to a viewpoint and so have less chance of "losing face" if they are swayed by what I say. They may never say anything, but you can be sure that if they have an interest in the topic, they will think about what they heard. 232 Laser gun could counter surface, air attacks By Sam Fellman - Staff writer Posted : Saturday Mar 30, 2013 8:46:54 EDT Forget the line about “a galaxy far, far away” — “Star Wars” may be coming to your ship sooner than you think. After years of development and millions of dollars, the Navy plans to field-test a laser cannon on a ship as soon as October, a forward-deployed test that should get the fleet’s proverbial FC1 (SW) Skywalkers salivating. “We’re working and the money’s in place in [fiscal year] ’14, to deploy a laser gun in the Arabian Gulf on the [afloat forward staging base] Ponce,” Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jon Greenert told Norfolk, Va., sailors at a Jan. 25 all-hands call. “So who knows, petty officers up here could be the ones shooting the laser gun.” This will be the first laser tested on a deployed ship; designers believe the weapon soon will be potent enough to disable flying drones, speeding boats and incoming missiles. Navy officials hope more advanced lasers will one day be a tactical “game-changer.” “More powerful shipboard lasers, which could become ready for installation in subsequent years, could provide Navy surface ships with an ability to counter a wider range of surface and air targets at ranges up to about 10 miles,” wrote naval analyst Ronald O’Rourke in a March 14 Congressional Research Service report, issued only weeks before the Navy plans to unveil its laser prototype at the Navy League’s annual Sea-Air-Space Expo outside Washington, D.C.

282 TUCSON, Ariz. — Brett D. Shadle always had wanted to be a member of the Navy's most elite special forces unit. A year after enlisting, he made it happen and went on to become a highly decorated member of the Navy's famed SEAL Team 6. U.S. military officials confirmed Saturday that Shadle, a 31-year-old special warfare operator chief, died Thursday when he and another SEAL collided in midair during a parachute training exercise over the rugged desert of southern Arizona. Shadle was taken to University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson, where he was pronounced dead. The other SEAL – an unidentified E-6 petty officer first class – remained in stable condition Saturday at the Tucson hospital. Military officials said the accident was under investigation. Family members said Shadle, of Elizabethville, Pa., was stationed in Virginia. He was married and had a 2-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter. His uncle Donald Shadle, 67, of Elizabethville, expressed disbelief, saying his nephew had been on many overseas missions only to come back and get killed during a training exercise. "He was always a good kid, and he always wanted to be a Navy SEAL and that's what he did," Donald Shadle said. Shadle enlisted in the Navy in July 2000. The following year he completed his SEAL training and was assigned to his first unit in early 2002. Navy officials said Shadle had earned multiple Bronze Star Medals with Valor and several service ribbons. While details about his deployments were secret, officials confirmed he had served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

315 From the Bowman site: Bowman and Aguillon were practicing a maneuver known as the Diamond Track. The maneuver calls for the jumpers to streak away from each other for about a mile and then turn 180 degrees and fly back toward each other crisscrossing in the sky. Bowman and Aguillon had demonstrated the Diamond Track more than fifty times without a mistake, but this time was different. Rather than crisscrossing, the two skydivers slammed into each other at a combined speed of 300 miles per hour. Aguillon died instantly. Bowman’s legs were severed from his body, one above the knee and one below the knee. Bowman’s parachute opened on impact. He was taken to a hospital in Phoenix where doctors closed his leg wounds and stopped his internal bleeding. What's the point of this maneuver?

What's the point of this maneuver?

They're a parachute demonstration team, so a lot of this stuff is designed to show of skill.

From a practical standpoint?  I guess it could be useful in avoiding ground fire.

319 It's too bad we don't have an American citizen as president. Had we not currently been run by a Kenyan guy with no legitimate ID, and a lifelong hatred for Americans, I'd welcome Kim Jongs threats.

Golden Knights are an airshow demonstration team.  Its one of the thing they do for the show.  They do that, RW formations, precision landings and such.

troopers, hussars, cossacks, etc. who try to windmill around with sabers, thinking they're going to hack, split, etc. the enemys' heads are only asking to get their sword-holding arm lopped off.

The only tactic is goring the opponent and an epee, or lance-type, sword is just as good if not better.

324 What's the point of this maneuver? Golden Knights are a demonstration team, like the Blue Angels. There is no tactical purpose for the maneuver, they would have been wearing smoke pyro on their feet and the move would have made patterns in the sky.

344 Those of us wanting to make cultural headway need to read the reddit politics thread, especially the comments. Until we internalize that those are some of the key Obama supporters, we will make no progress. They are fully literate, received 12+ years of public education, were taught false things about economics, were taught to turn off all critical thinking skills, and are incapable of thinking logically. It is those people that we must sway.

The only tactic is goring the opponent and an epee, or lance-type, sword is just as good if not better.

The problem is that people don't often die immediately from thrust wounds and can still land that killing slash on the head on the guy that just thrust them through the body. Add to that the problem that a thrust can only target one area at a time whereas a cut from above can potentially target pretty much anywhere, real fights are fought in three dimensions in which fighters move laterally (indeed, it is pretty much a requirement), etc., and you will realize why most military blades have been either cut-and-thrust or primarily cutting weapons (yes, the Roman gladius was a cut and thrust weapon - see Polybius for an account of thw Romans hacking off limbs).

The Victorians were wrong - swordmanship was not an evolution towards a more thrusting type of fighting, nor is the thrust necessarily a superior tactic.
