Republican Senatorial Candidate In Missouri Being Pilloried For Saying Something That Seems Pretty True

The heart of liberalism is the hatred of God and the desire to have the state become god.

Well, yeah.

9 Akin's right.  Modern liberalism is the Zombie French Revolution.  And just as destructive and dangerous to civilized society.

orly?

let's revisit March 2009

One of the first things Obama proposed was a new limit on tax deductions for charitable contributions.

“I’ll tell you what has a significant impact on charitable giving is a financial crisis and an economy that’s contracting. And so the most important thing that I can do for charitable giving is to fix the economy, to get banks lending again, to get businesses opening their doors again, to get people back to work again. Then I think charities will do just fine.”

58 As far as liberals and Western religion ...

In the Bible, Man was thrown out of Eden because he ate from the Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil.  This understanding of morality is what made Man almost Godlike (as the snake told).  Because of that, Man was thrown out, to have to work and toil his whole life.

Modern liberals think that, if they return the knowledge of good and evil (moral relativism), then they can regain entrance to Eden.  Ignorance is bliss.

WAAAAY too much truth for liberals to swallow in one gulp. They think of themselves as the good guys remember? But within liberal philosophy is an underlying belief. A belief that God was in error when he made mankind individuals, with personal hopes, dreams, and ambitions, when he made a world that was as its core imperfect where fairness could never be achieved. He was wrong with the two most important creations that effect man. How can you espouse even a neutral feeling toward a highier power while simultaneously asserting that he screwed up the whole of tangible existence and sentenced humanity to suffer? Either God is wholly incompetent in which case he is not worthy of adolation, or deliberately vindictive toward his creation which has the same conclusion. How can you carry this idea that God is fatally flawed as creator, divinity, and lawgiver, and simultaneously claim you don't hate him?

70 Liberals' fundamental problem with God - and Christianity, in particular - is the concept of Original Sin. At the heart of all statist philosophy - be it socialist, marxist, or fascist - is the idea that Man is somehow perfectable, if only you pass the perfect policy of some sort. Of course, that is a load of bullshit, principally because Man is fundamentally flawed and always will be ("Original Sin"). Christianity recognizes this fact clearly, and professes that the only cure is God's grace. For that reason, Christianity especially is the nemesis of Liberalism.

What Akin said here is indeed the core of liberalism.  Is there any corner of human existance that they do not see as subject to their putrescient, coveteous and overweaning touch? Caesar for them is diety as well, and you are to render all to Caesar.

They are gods of this world. But despite their resentment and resistance, they are just like the rest of us, "under God."

The Left is jealous of God. The Left desires power more than anything. They want to write the rules. They want to tell people what to do, how to think, how to live.

In return, the Left promises to be the people's benefactors. They say that they can do a better job than God at feeding the poor and healing the sick.

Trust in them, not God, they say. The Left does not hate the idea of a supreme  deity. They want to be God.

Oh yes, my pagan lesbian friend, who doesn't believe in God, who was over having a beer last night mentioned how terrible it was. I gave her the context of the president omitting references to the Creator numerous times and the most recent NBC butchering of the pledge, and she sort of saw the point, although she still disagreed.

She's been a good friend to me, and while liberal in her own beliefs, is pretty libertarian politically, so we usually don't fight.

Had a funny moment. Told her my workplace was celebrating LGBTA month, and asked her if she had any idea of what the A stood for. She's been gay for the better part of 20 years and had no idea. Wikipedia says either "asexual" or "allies," for whatever that's worth.

Liberalism, in the classic definition, was not against God, but rather it was against the unconstrained state. Progressives have a hatred of the very idea of God.

For me one's viewpoint on human nature is the cornerstone for explaining a coherent political philosophy. Conservatism would approach things from the understanding of the depravity of man, liberals from the standpoint of man's perfectibility, and libertarians possess a neutral viewpoint and only the free agency of the individual is paramount.

87 As Jews, we've had to deal with such leftists in our midst for a very long time - due to the fact that Judaism has traditionally used guilt as our main control mechanism and have had to deal with those weak personalities that couldn't handle the normal guilt mechanism.  The Jewish left even got a special place in the Passover Hagaddah - the story of the wicked child.  The Hagaddah's answer to the wicked child is instructive in how to deal with them.

I understand that the wicked child is a bit more encompassing than just the brain dead leftists.

BTW, the kibbutzim in Israel were notoriously anti-religious.  Later, some religious kibbutzim appeared, but the great bulk always remained anti-religious ... right up to the end, which came for just about all of them.

So, now that the libs are saying they absolutely, collectively, and unabashedly love God the Creator and lift His Name above all others, shouldn't the Democratic, Progressive, and Liberal wings of the Soros Party be sued by the ACLU??

There is no telling the faithful members (Legion, for they are many) that they have offended beyond imagination by this pronouncement.

I fully expect a frivilous ACLU lawsuit resolution and DNC condemnation to this confusing insinuation of the leaders of the Left that God is the bedrock of liberalism, considering the multitude of members they have recently offended by the mere mention of His Name.  They have already sold their souls to the devil to get their piece of the Christian Conservative Taxed to Death Pie and this could turn ugly quick when they find that God is real, Heaven and Hell are real, and they have a one-way ticket to eternal damnation.

This is a nasty situation the godless hypocritic left finds itself in.  Quite a quandry indeed.

Would be great if they aren't yet reprobate, but from what I have seen, they are fully immersed in satanism.

91 I'll add my vote to the "he's absolutely correct" column.  There's nothing wrong with saying it, either.

92 Point of clarification... Did NBC edit out "under god"... or did they film it at a lefty school that already has drop it from the pledge????

Either way it was a commie producer editing it, or the school the commie producer sends his/her kids...

I'm from MO, and I can say with great confidence that he's playing the right tune to get elected here.

To hell with the rest of them that find his tone "too strident", he knows his voters, and we're pickin' up what he's puttin' down.

Clair McCaskill has got to go. This guy is doing well, but I'd vote for the proverbial syphilitic goat if it meant we'd be rid of McCasket.

94 Leftists openly despise Christians. This isn't exactly a secret. Just look at the comments on any left-wing blog that mentions Christianity. Leftism is an atheist hate cult. Props to this guy for calling them out on it.

95 This seems to be a variant on the truth that dare not speak its name--obvious as all get out, true no matter how you look at it, troubling if you are concerned about the direction of a country that you believe was founded on Judeo-Christian principles by individuals that understood those principles, and yet ripe for unprincipled attack by those that believe in nothing except themselves.

One of my most successful temptations. The Prideful, Self-Righteous Ones fall for it every time.

I love the Orwellian nature of the sponsoring organization's name: "People for the American Way."

Red cocksuckers, coming and going, wrapping themselves in the flag to push their commie crap. /spit

This is of a piece with their "don't question our patriotism" crap.

I agree with them. There's no point the nature of something that doesn't exist.

This is biblical. All of the left's class warfare and redistribution is in opposition to the Commandment "THOU SHALT NOT COVET."

I've come to the same conclusion.  That is why my opinion on the income tax has changed over the years and I now think the concept of a tax on income is immoral and breeds envy.  This is exacerbated by the demagogues with their class warfare rhetoric.

I'm not opposed to paying taxes, I just think taxes should be levied on consumed goods, not income.

105 I could also say conservative Christians are all radical extremists who would agree with everything Iranian mullahs are doing and would do exactly the same given the chance, but what would that prove?
