Israel seems to be launching ground forces into Lebanon and has tried to insert paratroopers in near Syria. I was reading some interesting things on the Belmont Club about these unnoticed troop movements.
It cannot be repeated enough so here it is again:
MSM sucks more than 10,000 black holes. They are distributing propaganda like it was Halloween candy.

A straight report would have served Hezbollah's propaganda interests quite well enough. I have to believe that these photographers were participatory dupes.

I just checked the Belmont post and you're right--it's good.
When everyone started reporting a couple of days ago that Israel was going to reduce the level of fighting, it just made no sense to me. I wondered if it was a psyops thing, because they can't possibly gain their stated objectives without a large ground force and a serious attack on the Bekaa Valley.
We may be seeing the beginning of that now.

Im sure the families of these kids would prefer to use American made smart munitions instead, but gee those are already taken by the good guys.
Apparently, Israel and many of you find these kids completely expendable, so why should you have any concern for what the Lebanese do with the kids after your side is done with them?

The Hezbullah once again take a chance on bluffing the world community, and it works!
The Hezbullah orchestrated a "massacre" in Qana, in which a miracle of physics occurred: an air strike managed to collapse a building six hours after the fact.
Israel bombed at 1 o'clock, and the building collapsed at 7 o'clock. The force of the explosion could have been caused only by massive amounts of explosives that were stored in that building.
Once again Arabs cynically cause the death of Arabs, and the world blames Israel. What a surprise!

the questions remains, are you now goind to support terrorism? or are you going to fight it?
Posted by: oren at July 31, 2006 02:00 AM (OUyLJ)
just to echo what Erin wrote, these are extreme islamic barbarians who are waging a "holy" war and think death will bring you to heaven thus they would risk civillian lives, even their families.
As for Hezbollah, war is holy. For Israel, war can never be holy. War may be necessary, like when your citizens are being attacked unprovoked; war may be moral, like when innocent lives are being threatened; but even then, war is never holy.
There is a world of difference between a moral war and a holy war. A moral soldier fights reluctantly, while holy warriors glory in the fight. A moral soldier is burdened by the obligation, while holy warriors delight in the pain inflicted on the enemy. A moral soldier fights when there is no other option; a holy warrior seeks violence as a way of life. A moral soldier takes measures to limit innocent casualties; a holy warrior seeks to maximise them.
A holy warrior fears times of peace, because then he has no purpose. A moral soldier dreams of a time when peace will reign. Then, the Israel Defense Force will be made joyously redundant, as "one nation will not lift a sword against another nation, and they will no longer learn to wage war".
Posted by: Oren at July 31, 2006 02:07 AM (OUyLJ)
I am sad to see you say that Israel has lost your support because of this tragedy. I do not deny that it is a tragedy and one that if I could wish it never happened, I would. But, what would you have Israel do? Would you have Israel simply not strike back at Hezbollah when they fire Katushya rockets at Israeli towns and cities and cause indiscriminate death. Did you know that they fill the warheads of the Katushya's with ball bearings SPECIFICALLY to cause the maximum amount of carnage amongst the targeted civilians? Were you aware that when Hezbollah Katushya's "accidentally" struck the town of Nazareth and killed two Israeli Arab children, Sheik Nasrallah apologized for the deaths of the children and called them "shahids" and yet when his organization's Katushya's strike Israeli towns and cities and kill Jews he does not apologize (never mind the fact that he deliberately targets civilians contrary to the Geneva convention!).
I too am sorry and grieve for the loss of life at Qana. But what would you have Israel do? Simply have rockets launched at them day-in and day-out and have their civilian population die on a daily basis? Perhaps the Israelis should just go quietly to their deaths without so much as a shout back at their murderers.
The IDF goes to great lengths to minimize the number of collateral civilian casualties in this fight. But war, unfortunately, has its errors and the IDF tries its best to avoid civilian casualties. Hezbollah, on the other hand, has stated that their intent is to cause the maximum number of casualties possible. They don't care if they're Arab casualties or Israeli casualties (although I suspect they prefer the latter). That's their stated goal.
Yes it was an Israeli jet which fired those rockets which leveled the building. But it was Hezbollah which placed their Katushya launchers next to the apartment building (knowing FULL WELL the risk to the civilian population their action may entail as well as the fact that it is against the Geneva Convention). There are videos of this which you can find here.

Why do I sincerely doubt that you were a supporter of Israel in the first place? The link shows undeniably how the Hezbullah and the press manipulate the news, in an effort to undermine Israel's efforts to protect herself.
I can honestly only see two options for your lack of support for Israel's efforts:
a) you are an incredibly weak-minded individual who is easily swayed by the most blatant propoganda efforts of some of the world's most evil people.
b) you never supported Israel to begin with and are being completely disingenuous.
I am pretty sure I know the answer.

Regardless of your feelings about the crisis between Israel and the Palestinians and Arab neighbors the next two sentences really say it all:
1. If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence.
2. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel.
Posted by: Dewi Sudarsono at July 31, 2006 07:45 AM (rJZDA)
However, working for a newspaper photo department has taught me a few things. I also understand the process behind editing and photo transmission.
The article linked in Ace's post is wrong on several points that it points out.
1. Photo transmission times don't mean much. Photographers will send out more photos as they have time to go thru their digital negs. So a photo that is sent 6 hours after another could have been taken before the first one sent.
2. Several photogs will pool their photos and send. Body positioning of the subject doesn't mean much when that subject is photographed by more than one person. (Photos #3 and 4; #6 and 7) The author infers they were from the same person.
3. Pocket radio is NOT missing. (Photo #4)
4. The point of the UN workers body being "turned" to prove that they were staged is false. That worker is not even in the first photo he refers to. (Photos #5 and 7) As the photographer followed orange jacket, the background changed and the UN worker is now there in the second shot.
I do agree with most of the things said about the deceptive, deviousness propaganda of Hezbollah. But I don't think that it helps when we are not factually correct when trying to make points against Hez.
Was Israel justified in bombing what it feels to be valid targets? Yes. Was this a tragedy? Yes. Do we still need to hold truth the most important thing? Yes. That's one thing that Hez won't do - tell things honestly.

It is a cruel terrorist group that draws innocent civilians on both sides into a war.
they hide among civilians and hide missiles in their children bedrooms. they really dont care for their children life, as for them: "they fight for killing and live to die".

Hezbollah militants leave their woman and children in the buildings that they flee after launching rockets into Israel knowing the Israelis must take out the launchers in order to protect their people. Instead of berating Hezbollah for putting their children and women in harms way the world turns on Israel. This is the fault of the media.
Having lived in Europe, the Far East, the Middle East, and now the US--each for extended periods of time--I am aware that the different media of each area has an enormous influence on the people. What is so hard for me to believe is that the world is so ignorant and cannot see through this but apparently the historical loathing of Jews and recent dislike of America is clouding world vision.
The clear anti-US/Israeli slant the media puts on the situation seems to be the major cause of what you refer to as the international reaction rather then reality.

Those innocent people are called "terrorists" and "human sheilds", unless you are talking about innocent Jews being purposely targeted by the barbarian Hezbollah's rockets. And Israel could beat it's enemies if the world would quit getting in the way. And why should it stop? The killing won't stop if the Hezzies are still allowed to stay in power and in southern Lebanon. To stop the killing the Hezbollah must be destroyed. And if Syria and Iran were destoyed also, that would be a great side dish.

FACT: The IDF dropped leaflets in Arabic into the village five days earlier, warning the residents of the impending attack and advising them to leave the war zone. Why didn't they? Was it because Hezbollah didn't allow them to? Keep in mind that these are the kind of groups that "celebrate" the deaths of children for 'Jihad' - you only have to remember what Nasrallah said after the two little boys were killed in Nazareth a little over a week ago! Now Israel has halted air strikes to "give the civilians time to leave southern Lebanon". What if they still don't leave? Then what? Are we supposed to just let Hizbollah continue to fire rockets into Israel and do nothing? A high-ranking officer said, "We warned the residents that we would be attacking. (After warnings are given) we work under the assumption that the villages are empty and that whoever is there is affiliated with Hizbullah."
FACT: Hizbullah terrorists consistently store weapons caches in residential buildings and set up their rocket launchers between the buildings in areas with a concentrated civilian population. And why do you suppose they do that? Why don't they protect their own civilians??? INCLUDING children???
FACT: IDF video demonstrates a significant contradiction between the time of the bombing and the explosion that brought the building down. There is a very plausible possibility that explosives previously stored in the building were blown up purposely or accidentally by Hizbollah themselves. Video information shows that the Israeli Air Force planes bombed the building between midnight and 1:00 a.m.; reports of the explosion that caused the civilian deaths came at 8:00 a.m. Question: So what happened between 1:00 a.m. And 8:00 a.m.??? A building hit by a bomb strong enough to level it doesn't stand there for seven hours before it falls! And if the building was indeed hit by such a bomb, why did all those people stay inside for seven hours before the building collapsed???? It just doesn't make any sense.

The above three articles highlight the atrocities which Hezbollah commits on a daily basis. The Israeli military is waging war on an internationally recognized terrorist organization which no one previously has had the honor and moral fiber to combat. The reason many Lebanese civilians have died recently is because the Hezbollah guerillas fight and hide among civilians, thereby forcing Israel to target the terrorists who are cowering and hiding in basements of residential homes. Hezbollah has stated that its mission is to set up a theocratic government in Lebanon in the style of Iran's current government. Israel ought to be praised and aided in its fight to remain strong as the only true democracy in the middle east and the only jewish state in the world.
