RCMP In High Water Canada.. Up There Somewhere Where It's Flooding, The Cops Break Into Homes to Confiscate Weapons
— Dave in Texas

Colonel Mustard says it's cool, we're protectin the guns. *warning for the autoplay vid*

The Canuck Calgary Herald says "whoa".

Because lookin for kittens is an awesome excuse to round up your guns.

Calgary is a western kind of "fuck that french speaking deal from Quebec" place. Rodeos and stuff. And yet...

5 Wouldn't want the looters to get the guns from abandoned flooded homes, so the RCMP wants to secure those weapons before they fall into the wrong hands.

So can the owners reclaim them after the flood? Would that be anything like trying to get your computers back after they have been seized in a federal investigation?

Posted by: Skandia Recluse at June 29, 2013 12:48 PM (9VNGM)

6

Are they going door-to-door and searching all the evacuated homes?

Or are they just going to certain ones?

If so...then how do they know which homes have guns in them?

Does Canada have a National Registry?

8 according to the news article i read, the pigs inventoried the weapons they seized, but to get them back, the owners they seized them from will have to provide "proof of ownership" to retrieve them...

as if having them in their homes to be seized wasn't proof of ownership to begin with.

besides, the story says the houses were broken into to take the guns, so the government is doing the looting.

Posted by: redc1c4 at June 29, 2013 12:52 PM (8MasJ)

9 So how do you prove the guns are yours? If you can't do they keep them? Their are some crazy storage rules in Canada. If they found you weren't following will you face charges?

It sorta goes without saying...that if you're abandoning your home, you should take your firearms with you.

We recently evac'd our home, when a rather large tornado was on a path towards us.

Hubby took care of loading some 'things' in our truck.

I was in charge of getting the dog, bottled water and prescriptions into the truck.

It can be done in just a few minutes.

The thing about flooding...is that you have a lot longer warning-time for that, compared to a tornado.

So it's doable.

39 So, "You can't go back into your town to try to repair things and make it habitable, because the flood damage made it uninhabitable. We're just here to keep anything from happening to you while we break in, going door to door, and loot your property, which will only be returned if you can prove ownership (good luck with that since your records are probably flood damaged too!)"

Makes you wonder what else they're looting that they're not fessing up to and don't want the residents to see.

40 29 SeamRog,

Both, plus some aspects of NSA and arguably the DIA.

Provinces either have the equivalents of a State Police Force like the Ontario Provincial Police or they "hire" the RCMP.

The Mounties are a very interesting study in a multi-faceted enforcement, intelligence, investigatory agency.

Posted by: Esteban10077@sven10077 at June 29, 2013 01:10 PM (LRFds)

41 Grey Fox, hence my joke about the RCMP being the NOPD North.

After Katrina, the new Orleans Police Dept did seize trailers of weapons.  Took the NRA nd court action to get them returned to owners.  While that was happening the NOPD had just locked them away so when the owners got their weapons back, they were all rusty junk due to water immersion.

Wheatie, rethink about the weapons.  If you are forced to go into a shelter there is a very good chance they will ask if you have weapons.  So either lie and never get busted.  Or tell the truth and possibly surrender your weapons until later.

49 Zimmerman attorney says daughter’s Instagram post ‘immature and insensitive,’ apologizeshttp://tinyurl.com/py84jl2

Reached for comment, West released this statement to TheDC:

Most days since this case began I stop for ice cream after court on the way home. It’s a guilty pleasure and is well known by my family. I’ve been doing this as long as I can remember during trials. Earlier in the week I stopped for ice cream and two of my daughters were with me having attended the court proceedings. One of my daughters works out of town and we don’t see each other very often. I stopped for ice cream and we decided to take a picture of us in the car with the cones as a memory. I held my other daughter’s cell phone as I had the longest arm. I never anticipated that the picture would be released via social media.  It was not taken for any such purpose or in any way as a comment on anything having to do with the case. To me it was a private moment with my family. My daughter accepts responsibility for her immature and insensitive comment and apologizes for it.

West added in a follow-up that his daughter is embarrassed and devastated by the fervor her picture caused.  “She is a kind and generous person, not mean spirited or judgmental.”

this is puzzling.

I don't think that Texas for example as constructed right now would abridge liberty and public safety the way NOLA did.  I also know the majority of even Louisiana would not tolerate it.  My point, mostly was focused on people being unwilling to defend liberties they themselves find onerous or unpalatable for people outside their bubble.

Even the Brady crowd should be given pause by what NOLA did, they're largely not ethical enough to grasp why but they SHOULD be bothered.

93 29 "Are the RCMP the nationwide police for Canada or more like our FBI ?" The RCMP only have authority for provinces and cities without their own police force. In Quebec, they got a thing called the Surete ("Security"), so no RCMP. In Ontario, they got the OPP. In Alberta, they got a whole bunch of city and town police forces, but outside those, the RCMP serves as sort of the 'rural counties' police force. The RCMP does sorta kinda has a little bit of FBI-equivalence on certain categories of crime, like national security and other 'federal' crimes, plus international and cross-border laws. But it's not like the RCMP is under any national DoJ; federal policing powers in the U.S. are way more pervasive (tho not anything like in any European country, including Britain).

99 As some mentioned above, if we ever evac'ed from here, all the guns would be coming along.  However, if I did leave the guns here, I have no idea how I would provide proof of ownership to a cop who looted my house.  Some of my guns were handed down through several generations.  I don't have receipts for those.  I usually do not keep receipts for things past 5 years or so for things I do buy.

100 "22 "It sorta goes without saying...that if you're abandoning your home, you should take your firearms with you." Yeah, well that doesn't compute there. There's no constitutional right to bear arms, for starters. Plus, you need special carry and transport permits, which mostly get issued for game hunting; very few people have concealed carry permits, maybe one in ten thousand I'd guess, and all of them are registered with the local police.

Republican was a good term, nicely contrasting with Democrat as a political philosophy. I like Sarah. But, third parties are more up-cliff-face than uphill battles. Split the right, and we get President Hillary. Or Obama term 3. Basically, without some unforeseen surge in patriotic fervor, the splintered and undermined forces of the Constitutional Democratic Republic of the United States of America are going to continue to be overpowered by the united front of the Enemies thereof. Well a few things:

1) No I'm not really certain he is fluent in Conservatism more than bullshit.

2) That "5%" was pretty much the ironclad no bullshit backbreaker for genuine conservatives.  The GOP fought its ass off for one step on shore refugee status for Cubans and frankly the argument was made then that it was bad precedent but my hatred for Marxism allowed me to make peace with it.  The United States needs to educate a bunch of Jeantels of both genders and every ethnic persuasion that don't grasp our system, our history, or the economics of our nation.

I can't see how jedi hand-waving an additional 1/7th citizenry in one fell swoop helps that.

I agree, Barb.  There was a reason for separation of church and state, although I do definitely believe in "one nation, under God."  I think there is a way to recognize that without going all partisan regarding which God is the right God.  Naturally, we are excluding the pederast "prophet" from all future discussion, because those people need a good smiting.

164 The modern day Republican Party is already assuring Democrat wins. Third party action can't make things much worse. And, if memory serves, Perot was winning but then withdrew just long enough for Clinton to regain the lead. Maybe if a third party taps into that dynamic it could win.

165 A half-assed vote drainer will serve nobody. The Libertarian Party should take a bow. It's ridiculous that they run a Presidential candidate every cycle. They should run candidates at the state and local government level, where they could win, and sell their endorsement at the Statewide and National office level. Like the Conservative Party of New York.

Given that approximately one-half the country pays taxes while the other half consumes them in the form of entitlements, we're already at the edge of irrelevancy (except so far as to produce goods and services for the purposes of tax generation). Once amnesty is passed--and it eventually will be just like government-controlled health care--there will be a permanent Democrat majority.

There will soon be nothing left to lose. Bring on the third party and the meteors. I'm done wringing my hands; I know we're fucked and this will be a war of attrition.

As long as there is any kind of welfare in the state, immigration cannot be free.

245 232 Toby 928th, Correct. The fact is the very wealthy are weaponizing a lower class that they have trapped in poverty with a corrupt education system, and infotainment complex that mocks productivity, and a race baiting industry. Throw in the hyperregulatory state and they're boxed into a greedy avariscious life. The Upper Class elite are wanting to squeeze out the Yeomanary ie the middle class to create an aristocratic oligarchy. There's no way out that doesn't require reigniting the desire for earned gain in the captive class mated with dismantling the regulatory superstate.

263 If I had guns 1) I would not have the gun safe in the basement that could and would flood. 2) Not take them out of the basement gun safe and leave then in the closet or even laying on the bed of the upstairs bedroom. right beside what other stuff was moved upstairs before the flood like a TV, computers and couch. 3) They would need explosives to get the gun out of the gun safe to then find it was empty as the real gun safe is in the closed behind the pile of dirty clothes.

The real difference is that both the Premier (akin governor) and Prime Minster Harper are on the right side of the issue and no charges will come to the gun owners and have the guns back post haste. There may be charges to the RCMP with lost promotions and dismissals once the independent investigations happen. No jail time is warranted for the RCMP just lost jobs.

269 If we weren't hell-bent on giving away all manner of government cheese to immigrants (illegal or otherwise), I wouldn't have too much of a problem with opening up the borders and saying "come on down!"

Of course, in conjunction with this, I'd also interpret the Second Amendment's "well-regulated militia" clause as requiring all Americans to be trained in the use of modern personal weapons, and upon the personal choice of each American, to own and maintain their own weapons (in essence, every American gets a CCW, but as a right, not as a "permit").  This might slow down some of the riff-raff which would otherwise be tempted to try their luck here.

270 "It's almost like [the New Orleans law enforcement who were confiscating private arms] wanted to make it safer for the looters not the citizens."

Given that the NOLA cops were repeatedly caught on video openly looting themselves, yeah, that's pretty much what the intent of the gun grab was. They didn't want any ordinary citizens with rifles to show up while the cops were rifling through those citizens' belongings.

That department is the most bent major metro PD in the country, which considering the competition from places like Detroit and Miami should really tell you something.

292 So with regard to Alberta, I am increasingly on board with the idea that America and Canada really do comprise about a dozen much more coherent cultural/ethnic nations that have had the USA and Canada rudely and incoherently and dysfunctionally superimposed on top of them.

Time to break all that apart and reforge new ties on a more sensible basis.

Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba would actually fit pretty well in a more conservative and rural nation composed of them, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. That hypothetical country would, by the way, be the planet's biggest energy superpower the first day it raised its new flag.

I would previously have put Colorado on that list, but CO has lost its marbles and is going full retard to the left. Perhaps if the proposed idea of having North Colorado secede from the aggressively leftist Denver metroplex and form its own state were to happen, it could then smoothly secede and amalgamate into the new nation described above.

In like manner, British Columbia should link up with Washington, Oregon and California. Those US states are a lot more politically and culturally aligned with BC than BC is with, say, Alberta.

Feel free to chime in with your own suggestions. Oh, and guess what? Once the rest of the USA breaks up and reforms into new sub-nations, there will be no further need for the District of Columbia. It can form its own little independent city-state, like the Vatican, except with Marion Barry as the Pope. Of course, paying the bills on its own will be a little bit of a problem for an independent D.C.

This is  how it went down:

Zimmerman drove past TM as TM was on grass in front of home. Off sidewalk. Near two homes that had been broken into. TM watches Z.
Z stops up the road to call police non-emergency.

Dispatchers asked where TM went. “I can’t see him.”

Dispatcher said can get to where you can see him?

So Z follows in car, parks where he sees TM walk behind houses.

TM watches Z. TM COMES BACK out from between houses, walks to Z car. Circles car.

Dispatcher asks what street he on. Z doesn’t know. Gets out of car to find a street sign.Z walks along walkway in rear of homes to get to a familiar street and move to front of homes to see address. Stops, doesn’t see anyone, tells dispatch “He’s gone. There’s no one here.” Continues walking straight toward street.

“Are you following him?” Yes. “We don’t need you to do that.” OK. Continues walking toward street.

Tells dispatch it’s easier to have police meet him at his truck. Starts walking back. TM has reversed path, walking toward Z yells from side/rear. “Yo, you got a problem?” No I don’t have a problem.

“You got a problem now.” Punches Z in face.  “That’s when I started screaming for help as loud as I could.”

Started to sit up, TM began banging his head against ground. “My body was on the grass, my head was on the cement.” He just kept slamming it slamming it. He put one hand on my nose and the other on my mouth and said “Shut the fuck up.” I tried squirming because when he kept hitting my head against-it felt like my head was going to explode. And I thought I was going to lose consciousness.”

When he squirmed off onto the grass he his jacket moved up and he felt his firearm. “He said 'You’re gonna die tonight motherfucker' and he reached for it.” “And I grabbed it and I just grabbed my firearm. One time. I thought I missed. He started getting up…saying ‘You got me, you got it, something.’ I thought he heard the gun go off and was giving up.’

I got on his back and moved his hands apart. When he was punching me it felt like he had something in his hands.

337 One of the funnier stories of the day: Reporter Fired For Doing Standup While Riding on Flood Victim... A reporter filming the flooding of what appears to be a slum town in India, and the subsequent $200 in damages to the town did the story on the shoulders of one of the flood victims, and was promptly fired. He blames the cameraman for the idea. Yes Virginia, its politically incorrect to do news stories on the shoulder of a victim, but I find it funny.

Okay, what does that tell you about Marco Rubio? [rdbrewer] " It tells me that both Schumer and Obama want to destroy Rubio (and suck up to Hispanics). Now why might that be? Right. Seems as if Canada has some of the same divisions of their people , as the U.S. does.

With the demise of formerly "Great Britain" how does this affect Canada, Australia/ NZ, etc.

The Anglo-sphere seems to be gagging on the force fed socialism across the world.

All of these countries exist because of forced exile or voluntary emigration.

Their backs are coming close to the wall again.

Don't underestimate the mind set of those who were not  comfortable having to eat crow, and then pay for the opportunity.       It's a hard wired thing.

You're out of the bidding...., unless..., you're kin to that truck driver, Guido, we used to have. He was an amazing guy. Anytime we had some sort of delivery or set-up difficulty, he kind of magically made things happen. Chewed cigars, rather than smoked them. Thickish New Jesey/Italian accent.
