Polls Close Quietly in Iraq
— Dave in Texas

No major outbreaks of violence reported in provincial elections.

I wonder why Jimmy Carter wasn't observing these?

1 But....But....But.......they promised a "Quagmire!" Does this mean the MSM lied to me?

But....But....But.......they promised a "Quagmire!"

Oh, they've delivered a quagmire, but since it didn't work out in Iraq, it had to be relocated closer to home and renamed... "Baraq".

5 The pictures make me cry.

Thank you, W., and all who served.

No, you don't.

7 I suspect their elections were more honest than ours.

9 If Barry's advice had been followed, Iraq would be in the news today.

It would seem that way, based on the response to Katrina. You know, if consistency is valued by the Bush-haters.

Obama: "Recovery will take years, not months."

Only if we follow you and your party's advice, asshole.  If we can just get Harry Reid to declare "The recession is hopelessly lost" we'll be on the road to recovery in no time.

14 Move along, nothing to see here.

15 Hardly a word about the elections and the stunning success for President George W. Bush they represent... imagine that. Where's the White House statement congratulating the Iraqi people? Oh, that's right: Bambi's people are too busy writing smutty emails to Tehran, offering the Mullah's blowjobs by American virgins if only they will give him a photo-op... SMART foreign policy, that...

16 The MSM is not covering these elections.

DRUDGE can't be bothered noting it.

Hardly any bloggers, even on the right, are talking about it.

Our troops deserve better.

And oh, by the way, The President of the United States and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces...did not mention this in his address today.  No shout out to the troops for a job well done.  No praise for the dead soldiers.

Prick.

19 Wasn't Michelle Obama supposed to be making "military families" her focus as first lady?  Nice job, 'chelle.  You really are looking out for them.  Couldn't get your man to even salute them today.

20 Jimmy wasn't there because he and I were over at the Boss' house giving dick rubs.

Yeah, this is a great story.  I'm waiting to see how some Iraqi political friends and enemies do.

I say stick with Iraq, leave Afghanistan to the stone age and its 70% illiteracy.

There's still a lot that can go wrong in Iraq, though.

Is too a quagmire!  Is too, is too, is too!

DID YOU SEE WHAT OBAMA SAID ABOUT IT?

Wow.

Well, a lot depends on the results, that is, which parties won and even more depends on if there is a peaceful transfer of power.  Still, this is tremendous progress.  Thank you, all our troops, and thank you, President Bush who stayed the course when almost no one else thought it possible.  This is potentially a great victory for human freedom.

However, be it noted, this is OUR victory, libs, not yours.

25 He was too busy calling of FEMA for the million victims of the Ice Storm!

Oh wait...

26 Wonder what people would have said if someone could have predicted this would be the result about five years after the Iraq invasion? Weren't the lefties saying to order body bags in the tens of thousands for our troops?

However, be it noted, this is OUR victory, libs, not yours.

It's the troops', who endured three or four combat tours, not yours, sitting at home.  You sacrificed nothing for it.

28 Jimmy isn't there because he can't make the US look bad for rejecting him.  Not with President Obama (may the light always be upon him) in charge.
