#PhonyScandals Get Almost Phonier If You Can Believe That
— Ace

Phonies.

Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group, the American Future Fund, before recommending that the commission prosecute it for violations of campaign-finance law. Lerner, the former head of the IRS’s exempt-organizations division, worked at the FEC from 1986 to 1995, and was known for aggressive investigation of conservative groups during her tenure there, too.

...

According to the e-mail correspondence, a month after receiving the American Future Fund’s response, the FEC general counsel’s office — which is prohibited under law from conducting an investigation into an organization before the FEC’s six commissioners have voted to do so — contacted Lerner to investigate the agency’s tax-exempt status.

So, Open Thread. If you've getting here late I actually did my job today and wrote some good posts. The blog is good today, starting off with Gabe and BenK (and Purp late at night for tech-ers). So read that.

Oh and the You Will Mist Up post has a very sweet video.

30 A DEA Agent stopped at a ranch in Texas and talked to an old rancher. He told the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs." The rancher said, "okay, but don't go into that field over there...", as he pointed out the location. The DEA Agent verbally exploded and said, "look mister, I have the authority of the federal government with me!" Reaching into his rear back pocket, the arrogant officer removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the rancher. "See this badge?! This badge means I can go wherever I want... On any land! No questions asked, no answers given! Do you understand old man?!"

The rancher kindly nodded, apologized, and went about his chores. Moments later the rancher heard loud screams, he looked up and saw the DEA agent running for his life, being chased by the ranchers big Santa Gertrudis Bull...... With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it was likely that he'd sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified. The old rancher threw down his tools, ran as fast as he could to the fence, and yelled at the top of his lungs......

"YOUR BADGE! SHOW HIM YOUR BADGE!"

That's what I've been saying!  I won, shut up and do what I say.  The only part of our founding documents I like is the part where you get to vote me in.  The rest of it is extraneous.  If you don't like what I'm doing, you get to vote again in 1,200 days.  There are no other limits on my power.

145 There are 2 ways to eat cheese curds.  Number 1 is to get them from the dairy the day they are made.  Around here, that is on Wednesday and Saturday.  You eat them fresh and at room temp.  They squeak when you bite them and they bounce off your desk if you dribble them.  Number 2, after 48 hours old, you freeze them solid, then bread them cold and deep fry them.

No gravy, no fries.  That disrespects the curd.  Use velveeta for that stuff.

Now, Tim Hortons, I have no problem with that.  Have another donut, eh.

Also, repeated exposure to  an irritant will produce an allergic reaction  out of the blue.

BBoySquared      suddenly developed a reaction   to chocolate that resembled Tourettes.  Doctors couldn't   track it down for the longest time.

I finally figured it out. The Ex (Daughter  of Satan)  who is a BSRN  wasn't too happy  with me figuring it out,  not her or the docs.

That was kind of the big thing to me.  Bristol said he stopped Gibson.  Period.  No comment, no follow up (that we know of) about where he got his orders.  I know the military has been politicized over the years, all the military I know are po'ed.  It is very unsettling.  I was taught to expect a lot I guess.  Too much for today's military.

Political correctness a given at rank.  Some do. Some don't.  The Marine factor is particularly sad.  What really drove it home for me was the 20 hours of waiting (Ummen--his name?) -- so wounded -- and with not much hope that anyone was going to come for you.  They sure didn't for your brothers.  Tragic.

So, if that's what we are getting from the military guess there's not much hope for the politicos.  Which makes Cruz interesting in a way.

That's next fiscal year. Peruvia has a     far    more favorable tax structure than  here. Their  currency is based on the local foliage, which means their   money actually grows  on trees.   The  larger fronds  are  then personally inscribed by the  Peruvian First Family into its various  denominations, with the 10,000  Furaakle  note,  the Garg-Furaaklein, being highly  prized by numismatists.

This  mostly   accounts for the absence of  vending machines in the country.

469 LOL. I was just reading Belmont Club. You know that famous 1967 song "San Francisco"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bch1_Ep5M1s Wretchard started his article with the following: If you’re leaving San Francisco. Take extra care Not to use rideshare. If you’re leaving San Francisco You’re gonna meet some union people there. http://tinyurl.com/k5j7xxl

470 The key is to make sure your forehead contacts the fleshier part of their face, particularly the nose. And don't close your eyes 'til the last second. Better yet if you follow up with a knee, and then when they bend over, an elbow to the back of the head. Combos are where the points are.

474 TR, root canals, done right, are great.  What they do not tell you is that, once you have a root canal, the tooth has no more living tissue.  In my case, and I'm sure I'm not alone, this means that the tooth becomes quite brittle and, eventually, the root cracks and there is no other option than to yank it.  Which is when they start the implant sales pitch.  Odd that yours would flare up after a root canal, it shouldn't.

480 To start the movie properly.

The viewers see this bright yellow BMW Isetta suddenly veer off the road and onto the beach.  Then the front pops open and a blonde Playboy or Hooters model staggers out screaming and waving her arms.  Nestled in her piled hi hair-do is something gigantic and eight legged.  The beach is abandoned since its early in the morning.  The woman collapses and lies still for several minutes.  Then her arms and legs spasm and twitch.  Then she seems to regain control of herself and she gets up and walks toward the camera with a vacant look in her eyes.  Then you see these eight little eyes peering out of her hair.

Fade to black and roll movie title.

And off I go to write.
