Palestinians Claim Chemical Warfare Rocket Fired At Israel
— Ace

On the plus side, it can't have been terribly effective if the Palestinians need to tell people they fired it.

The group had recently claimed to possess about 20 biological warheads for the makeshift rockets commonly fired from Gaza at Israeli towns. This was the first time the group had claimed firing such a rocket.

“The al-Aqsa Brigades have fired one rocket with a chemical warhead” at southern Israel, Abu Qusai, a spokesman for the group, said in Gaza.

No comment yet from Israeli officials. Scientists, I'm sure, will determine if a chem warhead was indeed fired.

In a way, I hope it's true. Because I don't think that Jews living in a state created after the Holocaust are going to appreciate attempts to mass-murder civilians with poison gas.

There needs to be some clarity. For too long the Palestinians have been protected from the natural consequences of their own brutality and bloody-mindedness, allowed by the Western world to make war while pretending at peace. This has only infantilized them, shielding them from the rightful consequences of their actions, encouraging them to become more vicious.

At some point there has to be a war to resolve this, a real war, with the other side fighting back. And one side needs to be decimated and humilated. That's how peace is made. Only when people truly feel the horrors of war are they willing to give it up.

But it does provide a certain clairity as Ace posted.

Long Wars Suck.

5 Now Syria is claiming to have opened fire on Israeli jets that were buzzing the Syrian "Presidential" Palace. It's on Debka, so take it with a grain of salt, but an interesting development if true. Debka claims that Israel is using it's air force to threaten Assad, because Assad has the behind the scenes clout with Hamas to get the kidnapped soldier released.

6 This has only infantilized them, shielding them from the rightful consequences of their actions, encouraging them to become more vicious.

Does that meen they are so infatilized, that they think taping a "fart bomb" on the tip of a rocket is equivalent to a chemcial weapon?

8 Also, something I have believed for as long as I knew that "jews" weren't some mythical creature that was slaughtered 60 years ago, and only exist now in fairy tales meant to teach children about moral righteousnous, like "unicorns" I have believed that All the lands (held by jews, or not) should be designated by the UN as a "holy land thunderdome" Two philosophies enter, one philosophy leaves.

The "palestinians" actually hateful little arabs who can't stand the fact that most arabs think they are persian cross breed "niggars" are lashing out at Israel.

So, slaughter palestine, and expand the borders of the "zionist" nation, with a shitload of happy arab citizens. It's cold, but it's true.

10 My first thought was, what kind of chemical? Like window cleaner? I mean, I know that they have access to real chemicals via Syria, but unleashing them on civilians with a homemade rocket isn't as easy as people probably think. Unless the explosive that is supposed to spread it is just right, it can either vaporize the chemical or it can fail to distribute it sufficiently to cause a serious threat. But be that as it may, if they did actually fire a real chemical weapon, Israel should utterly crush their government. Ace is right on the mark. Until the people are truely broken and give up, it isn't over.

11 Sarin's pretty easy. (Provided you have Home Depots and drugstores). Mustard's pretty easy.

Distribution isn't easy.

15 Are they announcing to the world that they have violated the "sacrosanct" Geneva Convention?

Will the Europeans be horrified by this development and demand a war crimes tribunal against the Palestinians?

What kind of double speak will the buffons in Brussells come up with this time to cover up this crime?

16 "I am frustrated with the Jooos, Achmed. Keel de goat and push de button! Jihad!"

And off goes their twenty year old technology roosky rocket.

Meanwhile, the Chosen People are embarassing the United States once again.

They are showing the world the proper response when ONE soldier is kidnapped for gross torture.

See, that's not a tragedy, that's an atrocity.

Proper response to an atrocity?

RAGE

Along with a healthy dose of Righteous Indignation.

I hear the Israeli's have been buzzin' the Syrian ruler's summer palace at Mach II off an on during the night at low level.

Fantastic.

That has long been the weakness of the Left's® way of thinking regarding terrorists. THe terrorists understand strength. You give them the back of your hand and they get the message. When you apologize to them for making them waste their bullets killing you, you only make them laugh at you more.

20 Palestinian. Chemical. Weapons?

The whole problem with that concept is that antibiotics have decreased the threat posed by the decomposing carcass of an oxen, and even the world's biggest trebuchet can't launch that kind of a payload more than a half-mile. What worked for the siege of Jerusalem when the Crusaders were penned up inside the walls won't work quite as well against a nuk-le-ahr power like Israel.

Posted by: Russ from Winterset at June 28, 2006 05:41 PM (wKh5O)

21 Russ,

Thats funny, but you mean biological, not chemical.

23 Now correct me if I'm wrong, but back in 2002, when Israel laid seige to Arafish's compound, wasn't one of the forces causing them to relent and show "restraint" after repeated suicide bombings the meddling of Colin Powell and W in an effort to realize some messianic Nobel prize winning complex (Powell) and keep Tony Blair on board for the Iraq War (Bush)?

I just hope Dr. Rice doesn't urge Israel to show restraint here. For once and for all, let's have at it and let the chips fall where they may.

24 Pinto, when you're stuck in the 1100's and you're not sure if disease is caused by withchcraft or "bad humors", sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between "chemical" and "biological".

(I thought the same thing after I posted, but hey, Ace's article mentioned "Palestinian chemical weapons" so I figured, "just roll with it, baby")

Posted by: Russ from Winterset at June 28, 2006 06:37 PM (wKh5O)

25 Rice has already "urged diplomacy" some hours after the Israeli attack started.

sigh.

Posted by: The Machine at June 28, 2006 06:51 PM (L/jMX)

26 Er... yes, if you used a chemical weapon successfully you wouldn't need to tell anyone. Doing so makes you look not only foolish and inept, but demonstrates your willingness and desire to do such a thing, which is almost universally considered horrid. While I'm sure the radical freaky arab community cheers at this, the rest of the world does not.

Posted by: Christopher Taylor at June 28, 2006 07:30 PM (Pwzb0)

27 The Machine,

While she's called for restraint publically, I'm more interested in what we're telling them when the cameras are off. Arafat ain't the only one who can say one thing in English and something else in Arabic...

29 Think about it - restraint in this context could mean leaving at least one portion of Palestinian territory relatively undamaged.

33 if Israel targetted Palestinian civilians with the means that Israel has at its disposal according to the same moral principles that govern Palestinian conduct in warfare the results would be beyond dire. And yet the self-righteous ninnies who buy into pali persecution fantasies continue to prattle on about Israeli "war crimes" while condoning undeniable attempts--if so far ineffectual, incompetent and adolescently immature--by these semi-literate, ghost-dancing, hop-headed truants to perpetrate .. war crimes.

34 I may have misread the tea leaves, but I think this newfound Palestini aggression means only one thing: Iran is convinced that Rumsfeld is itching like a Viking, and they are trying to create the usual "root cause of Arab/Muslim doscontent" ruse as a diversion.
Palis are such idiots, they get used like a condom by every half brained middle-eastern regime and always end up flushed down the loo.

This time could be different though. I have not heard much braying from Europe, and Russians are getting a rude awakening by the murder of their diplomats.

Posted by: Tushar D at June 29, 2006 03:05 AM (h76y6)

35 I don't know that Rumsfeld, Bush or anybody has made up their minds to do anything right now--Iran is pretty aggressive in its own way on its own terms in subverting its neighbors without any excuse needed except hatred, power-lust, etc. Hamas' guys in Syria think they are players not played--the guys inside the PA may have a clue.

Posted by: Paul Freedman at June 29, 2006 03:58 AM (LdaQG)

36 The Palis are the inbred, leprous cousins of the rest if the Muslim world and are used as a propaganda weapon.

The rest of the Arabs could really care less about the Palis, yet at the same time see them as a way to demonize Israel,

The Muslim way of thinking is very strange and very backwards. I jokingly sometimes wonder if the Palis arent some type of a cosmic joke being played on humanity by some alien race. Its the 21st century and here with the Palis we truly have a throw back to the 8th century when mankind was going threw an extremely violent upheavel. The Muslim world in general looks and acts violent but the Palis are a pitbull in comparsion to the poodle of the rest of the Muslims world.

40 The palestinians are largely being manipulated by Syria, the place Iraq almost certainly stashed a lot of their WMD in the buildup to the invasion. We know already that some were used in an attempted terrorist strike on Jordan (according to the scumbags that were caught). To whatever extent the palestinians actually have any WMD, I don't think it's all that tough to work out where they came from.

Posted by: Christopher Taylor at June 29, 2006 12:50 PM (Pwzb0)

41 The western MSM (and the liberal left) has for years stuck its fingers in its ears and said "la-la-la, I am not listening to Hamas [et al]" whenever examples of genocidal palestinian racism surfaced.

If and when they launch a serious chemical or biological attack on Israel, they will be completely crushed. If the palestinians then turn to MSM and cry, "See what they are doing to us?!" the media will pause, before replying "Er, well, you did use WMDs..."

To which the palestinians can reply "Yes, but we always said we would if we could and you never objected. Weren't you listening?"

Posted by: spurwing plover at June 30, 2006 04:08 AM (4yJRe)

43 Well, since the Palestinians of Gaza admitted & demonstrated they have WMD, I am now waiting for the demands of the UN and the MSM that we invade the Gaza Strip, toss out the thugs in charge, and restore order and democracy to the downtrodden masses. Remember, there's no oil in Gaza, so it's for the People, not for Haliburton!

(Long, long pause)

Still waiting.

44 "There needs to be some clarity.

Fighting back? I hope the LGF boys don't see you advocating that.

Since the Gaza withdrawal in 2005 there have been about 1000 Palestinian missiles fired into Israel and around 8000 artillery shells fired into Gaza by Israel. These artillery attacks have resulted in the deaths of 80 people in Gaza in the last 6 months alone, while Palestinian rockets have killed 8 people in Israel in the past 5 years.

I assume that when you suggest one side is far more aggressive and the other should start fighting back with far greater intensity when it comes to these artillery exchanges you are advocating more Qassam rockets be produced and fired into Israel by Palestinian militants.
