Outsourcing: Dominican Hookers Say Bob Menendez Stiffed Them On Payment for Sex
— Ace

Two Dominican hookers have come forward, represented by a lawyer, to say that Senator Bob Menendez paid them for sex. However, he only paid them $100 for sex acts after promising $500.

Senator Menendez is known to travel frequently to the Dominican Republic.

The sex acts, they say, happened around Easter of this year.

On at least one occasion, according to a news account, Menendez has been a guest at the Casa de Campo home of a friend and campaign donor named Salomon Melgen, an ophthalmologist and owner of an eye clinic in Florida.

...

Melgen also appears to have lent Menendez the use of his plane on several occasions.

Menendez’s 2012 public schedule shows no events listed for Easter or the following three days. On Easter Sunday this year, aircraft records obtained by TheDC show that Melgen’s plane left Florida the morning of Easter Sunday, stopped at the Teterboro private airport near Menendez’s home in New Jersey, and flew on to the Dominican Republic.

Easter sex. Nice.

Via Twitter: "So he taxed them at 80%. What's the big deal?!"

"If the facts are true, they should all be fired... They represent the United States of America..."

52 Prostitution in the Dominican Republic is legal, but a third party may not derive financial gain from prostitution

Posted by: Patrick at October 31, 2012 09:10 PM (6WpNC)

53 Relying upon just the words of a few prostitutes, this is pretty weak stuff.  This would have been a serious story if:

1. It was done on taxpayers' money
2. It involved under-aged hookers

OR....

3. There was strong evidence it violated Dominican law in some other way: prostitution is legal in the DR, though paying a pimp or third party is not.  That's what's alleged here unfortunately it doesn't look like there's any proof unless you are going to take the word of a prostitute.

Sorry, but we'll need something more than the allegations of prostitutes for this to go anywhere.  Maybe there will be further developments, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

76 Let's see...

He's not presently married, so there's not a big issue there.

I believe the US sex-tourist laws are applicable if the object(s) of your commercial affection are under 18 regardless of the age of consent in the country of penetration, but there seems to be no claim that this is applicable here.

So it really comes down to:

(a) he accepted favors from a campaign donor,

(b) he went to a couple hookers, and

(c) he abrogated what was presumably an oral contract,

Doesn't reflect well on the guy, but then this is the party of Gerry Stubbs, Barney Frank, Ted Kennedy, among a long, long list of others.

I'd be very surprised if this cost him the election, though there's a great campaign ad in this quote:

“He lies,” she said of Menendez. “He says one thing and does another.”

There's also a Flor Melgen with the same city and same zip code.  I assume it's a nickname.  Some people he donated to: Christopher Dodd (a lot), Bill Nelson, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer (just a couple of donations, surprisingly), Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Kendrick Meek...

Menedez is a connoisseur of venereal disease. He knows that the Dominican Republic is the place to go for your diseased hooker needs. I wonder if he was hanging out at Rangel's place down there, nurturing any new bugs he might have picked up.

Remember when Rangel didn't pay his property taxes down there because he "didn't understand Spanish"?  Maybe that's Menedez's problem.  He underpaid the Ladies of the Night because there was a language barrier...Speaking of barriers, I hope he wore a fricking condom!

100 I believe the US sex-tourist laws are applicable if the object(s) of your commercial affection are under 18 regardless of the age of consent in the country of penetration, but there seems to be no claim that this is applicable here. Those laws are ridiculously un-Constitutional, anyway. They should only apply to the pieces of shit who voted for them and ever tried to enforce them on anyone. Menendez is guilty of being a total scumbag - i.e. a democrap.

106 There are a few issues here:

1. If true, did Menendez do something wrong?  By my standards, absolutely, and he should be hounded out of office if he frequented prostitutes regardless of its legality in a foreign country.  Regardless of legality, it's unseemly and has the potential to compromise an elected official.  Doing it in a foreign country where foreign intelligence services may operate only makes it that much worse.

2. Is it actually true?  There's the problem.  There's nothing but the words of prostitutes.to go on.  That's hardly convicting evidence.

3. Will NJ voters actually care?  I doubt it.  Given his marital status and the general legality of prostitution in the DR, it will just be brushed aside unless it involved under-aged women or other criminal behavior.

113 On the Beck deal, he did not threaten Fox, he threatened the network. He hinted Fox was the second holder of the emails/cable, and he said, "well we will see", as if to suggest he thought the second holder of the emails would come forward, and he was going to give them a break for now. Not so much for the "network" he says are holders of the other emails, or similar emails. He said he will out them if they do not come forward before the election. Soooooo, here is the deal, it seems the intel folks, and military peoples are pissed, and are not going to sit by and watch Nero fiddle. Pressure is being put on these things getting out, and I firmly believe there is more to come, like maybe someone releases the audio, or more very incriminating cables/emails. I think it is CNN that has the emails. Fox and CNN were both on the scene AFTER, and I mean right after the "safe house" was attacked. Beck worked at CNN, probably knows how they could be hit hard, and so I think the second player is CNN. Besides, Cooper had the diary. IF MSNBC had any such documents, they would have either already eaten them, or burned them.

130 Sen. Menendez accepts illegal $800 campaign contribution from Dominican Republic whores. (stiffing them for $400 each does not count as getting a campaign contribution from them, does it?) Is it fishy that these hookers did not demand the money up front? I was under the impression that hookers always demanded that. However, if prostitution is legal in the DR, that might explain why these whores operated under different rules. Here in the USA, where it's illegal, if they don't collect up front, the man can just walk out and not pay. (Even if he gets arrested, the cops aren't going to make him pay the hooker.)

He first came to public attention when he stayed in Baghdad with Peter Arnett at the start of the Persian Gulf War in 1991. Later that year, he was moved to Chicago, where he became a producer in CNN's Chicago Bureau. He then became the producer for Christiane Amanpour and was moved to CNN's London bureau, where he later made the jump to reporter. Robertson recently hosted CNNI's news show Prism, out of Abu Dhabi for several weeks. He is based in London. _______________ He had a surprising number of the pieces by Sept. 12th. This isn't just "having sex". It's paying for sex. Something I personally have never done and never will do. You have to be wired a certain way to pay a strange woman to engage in an intimate act with you. It's degrading to her and immoral for the guy to do. So if it's not perversion...........its only a few rungs lower than perversion.

Or these: Question for Secretary of Defense Panetta: US casualties during the entire air operation in Libya and against their organized national military forces were precisely zero. Are you saying the risk to manned American air assets was just too high to fly them to Benghazi in defense of the Ambassador, the consulate, and the CIA annex with Americans inside? Follow-up question for Secretary Panetta: Is it your contention that it would have been irresponsible for America's air assets to take a risk to defend our Ambassador and citizens, yet the risk they took during thousands of missions to assist the Libyan rebels' military operations was justified? Follow-up to the follow-up: During the Libyan operation when we sent our air assets to strike Libyan targets, did we generally have a drone overhead providing real-time video, personnel on the ground lasing the target, and real-time video feed from buildings near the target itself? Follow-up to the follow-up to the follow-up: If so, what additional intelligence did we have in those cases that was greater than the intelligence we had on 9/11, 2012? Again as Ace has said repeatedly, the Benghazi story is frozen without some large catalyst or new information that will inject energy into it. I read over your links and you've put together some very logical and well thought out questions, but none of us can just jump into the next Obama interview, strap him down with a barbiturate IV in one arm and an amphetamine one in another and go back and forth until he answers truthfully anymore than Chris Matthews can roleplay his way into being a PA Senator who can magically defend Obama against the red tide rising.

This situation is simple: If something is leaked and put in play concerning Benghazi it'll take precedence, but you can't sit back and not shake the Senate and DNC up with this. They are out there concurrently, push the horse that can ride.

248 ping pong, I also understand your point. However, it is my sense that swing voters think more like I do on sexual matters (in so far as I am center right, not far-right conservative), and they really don't give a crap if some non-married guy paid for a couple hookers. Maybe it would be nice if they did, but I don't think they do. Look what the average Joe thought of Clinton's dalliances, and he provably lied about it, did it in the White House, plus was married. So, yes, "Aslan's Girl" and many here are scandalized. But the voters we want to target will be seeing right-wing prudes making a big deal about a divorced shmuck's sex life. And that isn't a winning last-minute closing argument with late breakers.

You may have a point Samwise regarding swing voters, but remember that Clinton was beloved and was protected by the media and women's groups and his behavior was rationalized away by his followers.  I don't know that Menendez enjoys the same carte blanche for behavior.  Also, this involves at the least flying to another country and engaging in sex on the dime of a big donor, and the recent hypocrisy angle involving a very similar set of circumstances.  It's not just consensual sex it's a "dirty" story which could give it legs.

Then again it's New Jersey.

260 No, his basic by-the-numbers doing his job for once isn't a big deal to most reasonable people who've seen his performance the last 4 years, but their vote is locked up.

Locked-up at what, 47%?

Then he's dead, he hasn't hit 50% nationally. Off the top of my head he hasn't hit 50% in CO since May, in VA since Sept.

He's at 48% or below in FL, VA. CO, IA, MI. Under 49% in OH and NH, the former of which has the majority of it's composite polls utilizing a turn-out model approximating 2008's electorate which isn't supported by ancillary data from early voting, fundraising or registration.

Romney is winning the Independent's in nearly every poll conducted.

The variance between polls is not in the sampling, but in the turn-out modeling. The actual sampling, relative support levels among Rs, Ds, Is,  is remarkably consistent in time and it looks good.

261 This is only a story when it is a Republican. You must understand…Republicans claim to have morals and values… so they must be held to that level. The democrats have no morals nor values… therefore they don’t have to live up to anyone’s expectations ! THAT IS HOW DEMOCRATS THINK ! Menendez just earned democrat “street cred.” His popularity just shot up by 50% with Dems.

262 >>>What would you rather the electorate hear about: Obama being non-partisan savior who's come together with the NJ Governor that ripped him at the Republican Convention or hearing about yet another scandal, that a NJ Dem Senator is typical politician scum and reinforce that they all need to get thrown out? Romney has risen greatly and Obama has fallen sharply on foreign policy since the Benghazi story started breaking on Fox and on the Internet. ABC has run with it a bit, CNN a bit, etc. The people are hearing about untoward doings by Obama and the administration in Libya, and they are aware it isn't all being reported to them. This helps us. I don't want their minds off of that, and for them to be thinking the Republicans are pushing what is (in their minds) a lamer sex scandal than Clinton's. Personally I thought Clinton should have been convicted in the Senate for his perjury. So, in summary, Benghazi has hurt Obama. Not as much as it should have, but more than a little. Incidentally, my (earlier) pointed questions intended for POTUS and SecDef above all focus on the same point that Mark Levin made today: They didn't have to die. http://goo.gl/i7Zrd

http://tinyurl.com/cu6m9l9

It's a shift which would be within any standard error bars you put up, but due to it's persistence in time, I'd be willing to lean into it being a shift -- if due to Benghazi or just a slow drift to Romney that happened to start on Oct 25th, we can't say.

Overall, I'd consider Benghazi of small importance compared to the macro shifts in the electorate happening under the surface which are obscured by the polls party-id weightings which are very ahistorical.

The only reason the MSM has an "embargo" on Benghazi Ace, is because WE as Americans are letting them do it. If we flooded twitter and the comment sections of every article on their online news sites, they wouldn't be able to ignore it.

If we followed Pat Caddell's lead and called them out for what they are...ENEMIES of the American people...their voice would matter even less. NAME individual reporters and bloggers as TRAITORS to the democracy. Call them out. Tweet them out.

Contact their sponsors and advertisers and complain. Refuse to do business with them. Explain how the wholesale cover-up of the slaughter of our Navy SEALs reflects upon their business image.

If you belong to a Tea Party and you're not working a polling station...work a newstation. Get as many of your people as you can and stand in front of your local news outlet or newspaper with scathing signs demanding they cover this story. Film the event and then post it on YouTube. Then tweet the video.

If anyone thinks that this situation is EVER going to be addressed, even after the election, they're kidding themselves. Obama will never take responsibility. He will never take the blame. The media will continue to cover for him. And now they have no choice but to perpetuate this charade. If they don't, they will have to explain to the American people why they stood by and did nothing prior to the election.

Not that it matters. They already traded what is left of their credibility for the hope of another 4 years.

If you don't see this as a big deal then your one too...

2) Will the Feminist groups be outraged ?

4) We have a Republican Gov . in N.J. , so if this ass does win re-election , then resigns , Christie could appoint a Republican to finish all 6 years of his term...This is very important ! - ( the the road to # 51 )

5) Anthony Weiner of N.Y. City resigned over a few photos of his PePe... This is a much bigger deal than that...
 (pardon the pun )

6) Contrary to Samsweise posts , the Country and the Media can handle more than ONE big story at a time...

7) There's allot and I do mean allot of Catholics in N.J.

This is yet to be seen , but was this done on the taxpayers dime? All senatorial trips are recorded and how did he describe this one ?

Attacking the Women because they understand the severity of this issue will not win you any friends ...
They see and understand whats at stake here...

People who say this doesn't matter are only looking at the surface of this issue through their own eyes and condone such activity's, possibly because they also frequent Hookers and somehow this qualifies their actions...

318 OK, this is very long shot to the point of being ridiculous -- not least of which because I don't see how you ever prove it, and plus generally the law doesn't seem to be on the side of prostitutes -- but I can see an ethical argument against him, for rape of all things. In many jurisdictions there are laws against "rape by fraud". This can include a lot of different things, including putting it in the wrong orifice, generally when in rearward position, or even having sex with someone on the pretense of being someone else, like their husband while the woman is drunk in bed, or the other of two twins to be dating a woman (in the army, I used to know a pair of brother twins who would sometimes do this). While I doubt it would meet a statutory test, I wonder if it should be a kind of rape by fraud to promise a woman money for sex and not keep your end of the bargain. Certainly I have nothing against prostitution as such, or at least don't think it should be illegal in a free country, but I also think they should have the right to be paid for their work. K-Y don't come free you know. Well, it shouldn't. But I guess it kind of does under socialism, huh?

329 >>>WTF does a $500 hooker in a third world country look like? Slightly saggy tits, actually. Couldn't see their faces, but bodies look like average (non-American, i.e,., non-obese-cow) women in their 30s. The week part of their story is they expected to be paid $500 each. lol One of the women in the video even made a point of how the Senator allegedly said she was, "Very beautiful." MAYBE they got lied to and are pissed that they didn't get their promised reward. I actually think that's fairly plausible. What I think is less plausible is that these are $500 a time hookers *in general*.

331 Bob Menendez and Claire McCaskill have their names listed next to each other on this page (http://www.discloseact.com/).

The page says:

Pass the DISCLOSE Act

Corporations and special interests are trying to buy our elections with secret donations.

...

Senator Claire McCaskill, MO
Senator Bob Menendez, NJ

333 This seems to be a recurring problem with the Dems. (See the sock link.)

334 no body in Jesey will care. I thought he was still married. He is divorced. He is a hypocrite and a lair. As a former Jersey native I can tell you we expect that from our politicians. Don't forget our politicians entered a scheme to sell black market body organs from chinese prisoners. So this is a , meh. Now, if we can make a bigger deal abut the money, or who else went to the DR wit him. If it was a gaggle of NJ dems, that is interesting. Bill Clinton was with him last spring campaigning. That would be interesting

337 I've been on fights from DC to NJ with both Menedez and Lautenberg.

All I can say is they are both slovenly, nasty, conniving  idiots.

You know the type- give stewardesses a hard time, don't shut off their phones and BS loudly about their strategies to stall issues and vilify the opposition.

338 Another liberal Democrat buying sex on Easter . . . sounds about normal for their ilk.

346 Wouldn't surprise me if the Dems outed or should I say, under bussed, Senator Bob to distract from Benghazi. They tend to eat their own when things go to sh!t.

347 Blow the post in the first sentence. How about some party id. Even Ace. tisk

348 Do I believe its true?  Yes.

But in the spirit of fairness, if a lefty blog ran with a story about a Republican Senator doing this and their source was some hookers in the Dominican Republic, I'd be skeptical.

You need evidence.

349 I love when respected womens advocates pay to have sex with girls younger than their daughters. Classy. Just like the people who start bashing gay GOP senators while being totally anti homophobic.

Dead Ted had his fat ass photographed doing some 'offshore drilling' once, the memory is seared in my mind and it was an AP photograph to boot.

This will dog Menedez after his re-election and he will become a new Democrate meme - 'Screw them out of their money', much like what they do now.
