Oh, Dear: Reagan The Hippie-Slaughtering Killer
— Ace

First I thought this was a fakey internet thing, then I realized it was too professional looking to be fake.

Awesome. Reagan is "the ultimate buzzkill."

Opens on 4.20 (huh, huh, huh).

I don't know. I guess this is disrespectful. But in some ways, it's the ultimate tribute.

1 So when's the sequel with Jimmuh hunting down the killer rabbit in his cardigan sweater?

Posted by: anne at March 30, 2007 08:58 AM (uJBct)

2 Awesome.

I love the tagline "Hippie Blood will 'trickle down'"

3 You just know that at the end of the movie, the writer's autobiographical hero relies on his superior inner truth, beauty and lefty righteousness to vanquish the evil Ronnie and his suit-and-tie minions.  These left-wing stroke-fests are predictable that way.  As an example, every Law & Order or West Wing episode ever made.

4 As long as this movie isn't a total liberal circle jerk in terms of its overall message, it'll be the greatest thing ever.

Posted by: Sinistar at March 30, 2007 09:02 AM (bSYRF)

5 Jason Mewes and Paul Reubens in the cast?  Nice.

Yeah, but everyone cheers for Ronnie, just like we do Hannibal Lector or Freddie, or Chucky.

7 Sisnistar, you damn well know it will be a total liberal circle jerk.

8 I don't understand. I fail to see how this helps get his face put on Mt. Rushmore.

9 yeah I see Paul Rubens has a hand in this ... SWEET!

10 Ronnie hates hippies?

I guess it's a bio pic.

Ronald Regan on student protests when he was governor:

"If it takes a bloodbath to silence the demonstrators," Reagan said,
"let's get it over with."

I think the air traffic controllers got off easy.

The voice over says "from the mind of david arquette"

He might have been raised on a commune, his brother/sister might be a drag queen/transexual, but I don't think he's really come up with a way of expressing his diverse pro-commune-transgendered tolerance.  He's just a goofball who is usually able to be funny, even if acting and premise sucks.

12 Will the sequel include Eric Cartman?

The only way I would possibly like this movie is if the hippies were the monstrous villians and zombie Reagan was the hero.

Like, Donald Trump could pay a bunch of scientists to bring back a super powerful bionic zombified Reagan to deal with a group of degenerate drugged up hippy trash trespassing and squatting on other people's lands to prevent development and engauging in sabotage, eco-terrorism and treason.

15 I love how that supposed quote from Reagan changes every time that its restated.  If Ronald Reagan actually said, "If it takes a bloodbath to silence the demonstrators let's get it over with" word
for word I'll eat a bug.  I call bullshit.  As near as I can
tell reagan was responding to the supposed threat of violence from
protestors and added "no more appeasement."  "To silence the
demonstrators," my arse.  That's a Dowdified quote if I ever saw
one.

And it comes out on April 20 because . . . [wait for it] . . . that's Hitler's birthday, and of course, EVERYONE knows that Ronnie was JUST LIKE Hitler.

I predict a hopeless liberal circle jerk.

17

Sharkman?

It comes out on april 20th, because of the stupid 420 thing that stoned hippy wanna be douche's who major in diversity studies, and are members of the William S. Burroughs and Jack Kerouac undergraduate review society.

Posted by: Wickedpinto at March 30, 2007 10:08 AM (QTv8u)

18 4/20 is Hitler's birthday???

Posted by: Entropy at March 30, 2007 10:17 AM (m6c4H)

19

Wicked:

Thanks for the correction.  I prefer to think that, since Hitler was a well-known pot smoker, we are both right.

20 Well, if he's doing it for fresh brains, he's definitely going after the wrong crowd...

21 Wait....Jason Mewes, and no Kevin Smith?  The Horror!

Yes, remember the Columbine wackos celebrated Der Fuhrer's birthday with their massacre.

But, in truth....

A Zombified Reagan could run this country better than 9 billion Liberals in complete control of their mental faculties, or lack thereof.

Posted by: otcconan at March 30, 2007 10:35 AM (z7Tck)

24

otcc,

in the comentary for clerks 2, you learn that even though kevin and jay are still best friends, jason set up shop in LA to pursue a career in movies, doing the hobknob thing.

Kevin might be one of the best writers and directors for jason to work with, but you can't build a career like that, at least nowadays.  Too few movies, too few opportunities, and it's just not right for your agent to hammer down on your best friend for however long now.

I say cool, jason actually appears to be playing a straight man in this movie. . . . let me correct "the" straight man" I meant.

Posted by: Wickedpinto at March 30, 2007 11:07 AM (QTv8u)

25 Oh, like wow, man, I mean, like, totally bogus, man, totally. Real bummer, you know, like, Ronnie with the ax, it's like a totally bad trip. You know what I'm sayin'? Dude, that's like. so totally bogus!
<_<
>_>
This may be the first shlock slasher flick where I cheer for the slasher. Go Ronnie go!! Kill the hippies!!  ^_^

Now, for a better treatment of Reagan in pop culture, go to the Shortpacked! webcomic page. Good Reagan t-shirt there, it's definitely tongue in cheek, but Reaganites can wear it with some pride.

26 Jeepers, I wonder what kind of horror movies they'll be making about Dick Cheney in 20 years...

Posted by: OregonMuse at March 30, 2007 11:35 AM (CkYzD)

27 according to wikipedia it's not reagan coming back or anything, it's just a serial killer who is obsessed with reagan.

still, it appears that a lot of hippies die, so i'm in.

Wait, doesn't everyone root for the slasher? The characters in these things are usually such horrible people (Cabin Fever) that the best part is counting up the deaths.

Ah, yes! Just one of the many reasons I voted for Reagan...twice.

So nice to see an upbeat, feel-good movie coming out of Hollywood.

And Drew, you'd better get a tampon; you are menstruating again. Waaa!

I suppose a movie like that would be along the lines of "Hobo With A Shotgun."  Only better.

Oh, how the world needs another Reagan.  Or at least bring the old one back from the grave.

He must have been pretty good if the libs are still going after him 20 years after he left office.   Keep on trying to rewrite that history.

Posted by: slug at March 30, 2007 04:01 PM (gIchD)

32 4.20 is the international code for smoking pot.

I don't think they intend the hitler thing.

Posted by: ace at March 30, 2007 04:10 PM (+u1X0)

33 So it looks like we have Ronald Reagan butchering, with a bloody meat axe, a succession of greasy, long-haired, lazy-ass dope-smoking hippies.

Sounds like the feel-good movie of the summer!

Posted by: OregonMuse at March 30, 2007 04:40 PM (2g3cv)

34 Speaking of awesome, Reagans last movie "The Killers" is win on so many levels including the scene where he smacks around Angie Dickenson while looking like the president age-wise. Great stuff.
