Occupy Denver to Police: "Revolution is Inevitable. You're Asking For A Military Defeat, You F***ing Pigs"
— Ace

Mainstream! Look at all these apolitical grandmothers!

John Sexton visited Occupy LA and has lots of pictures (scan down; two parts.)

He links this article, awesome in two ways. First the Occupiers, who the media will assure you are just concerned centrists, warmly greet and out and proud communist who threatens political violence:

Alex Callinicos, a professor of European Studies at Kings College in London, announced to his rapt audience, “I am a Marxist.’’

Asked if the upcoming revolution can be non-violent, he parroted the party line of the demonstrators, who call themselves the 99 percent of Americans lined up against the “1 percent’’ with power and money.

He said violence could be avoided only if the “1 percent accept the decisions of the 99 percent,’’ which he predicted would never happen.

Submit or Die-- it's the American way!

Next:

Nick Hommen, 29, a volunteer from Salem, Ore., who was handling donations, said some demonstrators were taking advantage of people’s generosity.

“We can’t afford to keep buying new tents. It’s ridiculous the sense of entitlement people feel,” Hommen said.

There continue to be frictions between the Real Victims of the Bankers -- that is, the occupiers, students who took out too many college loans and and acquired too few marketable skills -- and the posers, who are not really victims of the economic calamity, i.e., the homeless.

Cops are alleged to continue stoking the fires of this dispute.

Two different drunks I spoke with last week told me they’d been encouraged to “take it to Zuccotti” by officers who’d found them drinking in other parks, and members of the community affairs working group related several similar stories they’d heard while talking with intoxicated or aggressive new arrivals.

...

“He’s got a right to express himself, you’ve got a right to express yourself,” I heard three cops repeat in recent days, using nearly identical language, when asked to intervene with troublemakers inside the park, including a clearly disturbed man screaming and singing wildly at 3 a.m. for the second straight night.

...

“A lot of you people smell,” a waggish cop shot back later after an occupier asked if he might be able to help find more appropriate accommodations for a particularly pungent and out-of-sorts homeless man.

If this is going on, it's not necessarily a political tactic. The homeless typically violate rules about sleeping on benches and in parks, of course. When they become a problem, they're asked to move on, but of course they'll be back the following night.

The occupiers are doing the same thing -- oh I know, they claim it's for some higher purpose (a higher purpose than survival?), but it's the same thing. And they won't move on.

So, if you have a collection of scofflaws and squatters in one location, who won't move on -- and hence you have a police problem localized in a place that can't be resolved -- why not get all the nuisances to that one place? It's a stinkpit anyway.

Oh, and rapes are being "handled internally" by the Occupiers.

Who basically just hiss at the perpetrators and try to shame them away.

That'll work.

My 4th grade son has to bring in an article that demonstrates the use of one of the amendments in the bill of rights.  As the son of a moron, of course he chose the 2nd.  The wife doesn't want him to present an article to the class where someone got killed.  Any ideas??

#5...Hedgehog,

There was a woman who testified before Congress a few years back, who used a handgun to defend herself......and I don't think that she killed anyone.

I know there have to be lots of stories out there where handguns/rifles/shotguns were used as deterrents to a crime. Sadly though, I can't think of any details right now.

I am currently in a sugar coma from eating too many baby Butterfinger bars and my brain is impaired.

Don't know if you'll find one, but there were a couple of such cases in the DFW Metroplex in the last few years.  Generally some little old lady happening to pack heat catching someone in their home.

The one I remember the best, she cornered the robber in the closet or bathroom, and he called 9-1-1.

Hedgehog @ #5 -

1 - Check out NRA website.  Their monthly magazines each have a collection of news items about armed citizens protecting themselves against criminals.  However, that is not a strict 2A application.

2 - Why does the wife have a problem with the kid using an example of someone killing a dirtbag while exercising his 2A rights?  The whole point of that amendment was to enable citizens to kill government dirtbags if needed.

3 - A more accurate demonstration would be listing timelines in Germany and Russia, from registration to confiscation to mass killings, because of the absence of equivalent 2A rights.  More people were killed by their governments, "the only ones who should have guns" as expressed by many gun-grabbers, in the 20th centry (~100+ million) than you will ever have killed by citizens exercising their God-given right to self-defense.

4 - I am sure the kids are taught that economic monopolies are bad (Boo, hiss, on Rockefeller & Carnegie).  Why is a governmentment monopoly on violence a good thing?  They have a monopoly on education; look how good that's working out.

Let's see, they've already devolved into hurling accusations at each other, arguing over money, mutinying against the people in "charge", assaulting each other, raping, stealing, ratting each other out, mob violence against the police, whining about wall streeters mocking them from their balconies while drinking champagne, enforcing their own laws, which consists of letting rapists run away. Yeah, they're developing quite the utopian societies. The Donner party didn't devolve this quickly.

LONDON (AP) — The Dean of St. Paul's Cathedral in London on Monday became the second high-profile clergy member to step down amid mounting controversy over anti-capitalist protests on the church's grounds.

Graeme Knowles said that as criticism of the cathedral has mounted in the press and in public opinion, his position has become untenable.

The Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams called Knowles' decision to step down "very sad news" in the wake of Fraser's earlier resignation.

Britain's High Court will decide whether to allow authorities to forcibly clear the protest camp. Many expect the legal process to be lengthy and complex.

The hypocrisy of the hippies tops that. Many of the Battling Bitches of Broadway braved their Valley Forge in HOMELESS SHELTERS.

You know, the same places that shelter the hobos that the hippies say just take without giving back ...

Winter Hits Occupy Wall Street

"New York’s early October snowfall brought freezing temperatures and wet snow to the Occupy Wall Street  protesters in Zuccotti Park causing an exodus to local homeless shelters and a fight in a local McDonald’s.

We arrived at Occupy Wall Street at approximately 6:30 pm. Several tents in the park had collapsed. Most of the protesters had abandoned the park or were secure inside their tents. A man moved through the encampment shouting information about shuttles that were available for protesters who wanted to vacate to nearby homeless shelters. Another man called out saying dry socks were available in his tent"

161 Obviously more expensive than the huge infrastructure necessary to maintain overhead lines.

Underground lines can be broken/cut too, and then they're more of a pain to dig back up and fix.

Honestly, for long distances, overhead lines are the most economical choice (remember, time has value, too).  So, since there will be overhead lines, at some point that overhead line has to move to below-ground for buried lines.  That just means that there is one point of failure for a bigger group of homes, more or less.

It's usually (usually) a fairly safe bet, but when that single POF fails continually, it really, really sucks.

Actually they are on the restoration list as high priority. So when they lose lines to a hospital they will get worked on before almost all other areas. People who have emergency life support systems at home are also on high priority restoration.

Cops should be handing out fliers to homeless that there is free spaghetti bolognese and sleeping bags at Zucrappy Park. New York prison personnel should give bus fare directions to Zucrappy Park to released prisoners. Liberal Manhattanites need to start living with the consequences of their own attitudes.

Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo (NJconservative) at October 31, 2011 01:15 PM (3vSLn)

Maintaining large underground lines is also expensive.  My housing addition has underground electric throughout but is fed by overhead lines.  Large electric lines are just cheaper to maintain and replace, thus keeping electricity costs low.

Plus, where I live we have alternative grid circuits, so if one of them goes down, the other(s) can take up the slack.

*sigh*  it wouldn't surprise me.

Don't get me wrong- one of the selling points of my neighborhood was that it has underground power.  I tend to like that (like I said: it's usually a pretty safe bet), but I know that when a power line gets knocked down, its usually up later the same day.  The one time I was in an area where an underground line accidentally got cut?  The area was without power for the better part of 36 hours.

This seems to be happening every other month.  I'm preparing to spend New Years eve in the cold & dark.

Yikes.

The line right here has only gone down once in two years. When the tornado went through the neighborhood, it took about 30 hours to get our power back on. The other side of the street got their power back much, much sooner.

There was so much damage all over the area that it just took a while til they got to a problem only affecting just a few people.

Wait???? It has already been done all over the place. The law usually lasts just about as long as it takes to find out how much it will cost them.

This happens in the cities fairly often and that is where it is most expensive to bury. Also where the impact is the greatest. Imagine the outcry when a block of stores find out they are going to have a huge trench dug in front of them for a month and they will be without power for a week while lines are rerouted.

FOX shows you the Republican field results and then below in small print says 800 respondents with the MOE. This is from the pdf of the poll- Q17. [Ask if Q16=1] If the 2012 Republican primary election for President were held today, which of the following candidates would you vote for, or haven’t you thought about it enough to have an opinion? [Randomize 1-9] (n=395; MoE=+/- 4.93) Only 395 respondents answered the republican field questions and the MOE was near- 5%.

"Take it to Zuccotti"

At some point it will become clear to the occupiers that Zuccotti park is actually a concentration camp set up by the Police to contain and combine all the worst parts of a City and a movement of people along with the mentally ill, educationally challenged, homeless, homosexual, rapist and assorted communist/liberals and losers in one central location where normal laws, rules and regulations are not enforced.

There these folks of common beliefs and gripes can do what ever they so desire without the aid or hinderence of the local LEO.

There, anarchy and lawlessness can be practised.

Have fun folks and one day you can tell the world "I was vagina violated and, or, ass raped, robbed and lived in shit and pee surrounded by drugs and drug dealers while chanting mindless chants about repression and greed along with constant droning drumming while the whole wide world watched for absolutely no gain."

Zuccotti, now more than just a park.

All those OWS have a fine time shouting abuse at the cops, thinking that the cops couldn't do anything to them no matter how bad they behave.  They haven't learned that what goes around comes around.

So, it's pretty funny that the cops are directing all the street people to join the OWS.  But then, the OWS protestors can learn the valuable economic principle that there is an infinite demand for free stuff as the street people clamor for OWS stuff.  I notice that the OWS are experiencing a heightened sense of property rights which were absent at the beginning of this demonstration.

It looks like the OWS will learn a lot of conservative lessons, none of them welcome.
