Obama Resets At Andrews AFB
— Dave in Texas

He got washed out in Chicago.

I don't blame him for pulling up there, the threat of thunderstorms and lightning isn't something to take lightly.

You know? I would have sworn I saw a Twitter post by NBC's Chuck Todd this morning, explaining to us how other Presidents have skipped Arlington on Memorial Day. Like GWB skipped out on Arlington in 2002.

To deliver a speech at Normandy, on May 27 2002.

I likely got that wrong, and I apologize to Chuck Todd for that.

According to ExJon, VP Joe did a respectable job at Arlington today.

2 Of course I did a great job at Arlington: I was there when we captured the place from the Germans and the Mexicans during the War of 1812.  Came under heavy sniper fire, you know.

6 Good afternoon, everybody. Now everybody, excuse me, everybody, listen up. We are a little big concerned about lightning. This may not be safe. So I know that all of you are here to commemorate the fallen. That’s why we’re here. What we’d like to do is if possible have people move back to their cars, and if this passes in the next 15 to 20 minutes, I will stick around, and we’ll come up and start up the ceremony again. But we don’t want to endanger anybody, particularly the children in the audience. So I’d ask everybody to very calmly move back to your cars. A little bit of rain doesn’t hurt anybody, but we don’t want anybody struck by lightning.

22 Hey y'all. I'm starting up an organization dedicated to keeping track of fizzled efforts to bond with the troops. This one with Obie is looking eligible for the Best Continued Try At Pandering Within A Holiday Weekend. I'm also pleased to note we can add an entirely new exhibit to our Faux Combat Service Wing. Someone has already nominated my namesake as the first nominee, but now it appears he's getting stiff competition from Mark Kirk. Taking my namesake's reminiscing over hiking the ol' Ho Chi Minh Trail the extra mile, Kirk actually is donating the ID tags for his brain into the Congressional Record, in honor of his Navy Intelligence Officer of the Year Award** for the stalwart efforts that he, along with a handfull -- okay, a bit more than a handful -- of fightin' men -- okay, desk jockeys -- okay, squadrons of non-combat types -- made in defeating the forces of darkness in ... lessee here ... Kosovo. Yup, Kosovo. **The award -- or more accurately, awards, as "it" was given to just about everyone who showed up at the office that week -- was not so much from the Navy, as from a non-profit Navy booster organization, funded primarily by military suppliers. So, it was that close to, like, the Navy, and, like, a real award, for actually, like, doing something.

49 Just out of curiosity, is anyone getting video of Obama on the golf course?

Because that would make a pretty deadly campaign ad for this fall, or 2012:

Shot of soldiers in Afghanistan.
Voiceover:  "When casualties in the Middle East took a jump . . . "
Cut to Obama on the golf course. (Sound effect:  Golf swing.)
"The President went golfing."
Shot of the oil rig on fire.
"When an oil rig explosion threatened sensitive wetlands with millions of gallons of oil . . . "
Cut to Obama on the course again.
"The President worked on his golf game." (Sound effect:  golf swing)
"While illegal immigration became a crisis on our border . . . " (SFX:  golf swing)
"While Iran developed an atomic bomb . . . " (SFX:  golf swing)
"While Korea edged toward all-out war . . . " (SFX:  golf swing)
Slow-mo of Obama setting up another swing.
Voice-over:  "But it could have been worse." (SFX:  golf swing) "He could have been trying to do something."
"This November let's send Obama where he really wants to go:  back to the golf course full-time."  (SFX:  swing)

No he doesn't. He has a son, Beau ( the other kid's name is worse, Hunter)who is a lawyer, and who did serve as a lawyer in Iraq. He has been home for months. During the Bush Administration, Biden threw a tantrum about Iraq, and claimed that Bush policy was going to get his son killed, Of course he gave a quiet apology after it turned out that Beau hadn't as yet gone near Iraq, and would be serving behind a desk anyway.

Actually, Biden's son Beau Biden has been back for some time.  While he served in Iraq, he is a JAG officer, so he wasn't exactly doing foot patrols in Fallujah.  Note, his son suffered a stroke earlier this month.  I hope (and I hope that all the morons on this site also hope) he makes a speedy & full recovery.

Now, as far as our president hangin' out in Chicago as opposed to laying a wreath at Arlington.  The Tomb Of The Unknowns is not the gravesites of those three individuals, but symbolically is the resting place of all US veterans, regardless where they are buried, if their graves are even marked, if anyone remembers them, etc.  The Tomb Guards are there 24/7 to show that the Army (and by extension all US military branches) will never forget them.  The President is the Commander In Chief and, unless the business of the State takes him away, should at least make the trip to Arlington to pay his respects to ALL who have passed.  It is a symbolic gesture; however symbols are very powerful, especially in the military.

93 Chicago thunder storms are 1st rate. Saw one when I was leaving boot camp May 1985. There were waterspouts on the Lake too.

95 Lying fucking scumbags who work for marxists monkeys aren't qualified to address our brave troops...So much for Biden...As far as the marxist in chief, he continues to slap all Americans in the face.  He is the goddamned Commander in Chief...It's not just a neat title, there are certain standards that must be upheld.  His failure to honor America's war dead at Arlington is an insult to all those brave souls who gave there lives in the cause of freedom from freeing our slaves, to ending world war in Europe, to stopping communism around the world, to freeing Iraq and Afghanistan from Hussein and the Taliban...

98 If I HAD to choose between the Chicago Buffoon and Crazy Uncle Joe, I'd much rather have the latter at Arlington National Cemetery; Biden is an idiot, true, but he's a sincere idiot.

I agree about Joe Biden.  He may be an idiot,  but he's an American Idiot as opposed to teh ONE who is not a true American in spirit.

Given what I suspect is Barak's stance toward the Israelis' attempt to enforce their blockade, I propose that this blog start referring to THE OBAMA CALIPHATE.

I know it's not new, but I hope we can emphasize the Islamist tendencies of "Al Won".

103 Odrama Queen = "Li' Abner" cartoon strip character, Joe Btfsplk: The world's worst jinx, Al Capp "pronounced" Btfsplk by simply blowing a "raspberry", or Bronx cheer + "Li' Abner" cartoon strip character, Jubilation T. Cornpone: Dogpatch's founder and most famous son, memorialized by a town *statue, is Confederate General Jubilation T. Cornpone - renowned for "Cornpone's Retreat", "Cornpone's Disaster", "Cornpone's Misjudgment", and "Cornpone's Hoomiliation."

*The commemorative statue was from the YANKEES because CORNPONE was their most effective weapon against the South.
