Nation Shocked To Learn There's a Gay Angle in That Dude Who Impersonated Burt Mantis' Girlfriend
— Ace

Burt Mantis, or whatever his name is. Manatee, whatever.

This is part of the reason I don't want to cover this story.

The other part is that it bores me to tears.

But the first part is that it seemed clear that, whatever the genesis of the story, it would ultimately turn into Hunt the Gay. Just seemed Doomed to End Nastily from the start.

I  actually  think  that if you  decreased  the  popularity  of college  football,  that would have a  huge  effect  on the  influence  that  universities  have on  our  country.  For one,  I think  it would decrease  the number of students.  Two,  it would decrease the  affiliation  alums  have with the schools, and  certainly  decrease  giving to schools.  Three,  for those  who  never  go to school,   many  still have a favorite  college  football team.  And  those  schools  get  support  for no other reason.

I'm  not proposing this because  I like college  football, and I like  to root  for my favorite  teams.  And I also think it has strong traditions that this  country  should respect.

110 Screw gay rights when we need rights for folks born by C-section ...

TO THE EDITOR:

Republicans and “so-called” conservatives are at it again. They are claiming that the Constitution gives people the right to have guns without the permission of the government. If that were true, then how could New York and Chicago have laws against it?

We Democrats are sick and tired of Republicans constantly using the Constitution to cover up their true plans, which are to make us all afraid of everyone else. Our great president came from a civilized part of the country where there is strict gun control, and he is only trying to bring the benefits of that more modern way of living to the rest of us. I don’t know the exact statistics, but I’m quite certain that Chicago is a lot safer that Morehead City, when it comes to gun violence.

But do Republicans and conservatives listen to the voice of reason? No, of course not. All they want to do is whine and complain about how gun control and wealth redistribution violate the Constitution, as if the Constitution were all that great, anyway. There are a lot of things that need to be changed about the Constitution, I’d say, and President Obama needs to change it.

The Republicans are just trying to stand in the way, because the president is black. They even dared to question whether he was born in this country. I think all this demonstrates that the Constitution needs to be amended when it comes to the qualifications for being president. Right now, it says that a person has to be 35 years old and be a natural born citizen. Well, that is obviously unfair because there are a great many otherwise qualified people who cannot run for president because their mothers had to have a C-section. But because the Constitution was written a hundred years ago, nobody even thought of the discrimination that would result from a doctor having to deliver a baby in this unnatural way. Now that we Democrats are in control of the government, that’s just one more thing we should change in our drive to make life fair.

Please withhold my name because I don’t want to get crank calls.

113 I've been promoting Ted Cruz for years now. I never understood why he didn't get the same kind of love by Ace that Rubio got.

(a) Rubio came first.
(b) Rubio beat Charlie Crist (a popular governor) in the primaries and again in a 3-way general.
(c) Rubio was elected in Florida, which elects Democrats, rather than Texas.
(d) Ace is pulling a Burt Mantis on Rubio as we speak, but would be interested in a 3-way general with Cruz, if you ask him.

176 Let's say I'm not really sold on a superstar college athlete who can't get a real girlfriend at football-crazy Notre Dame and needs to spend hours and hours with an "internet girlfriend" who's being run by his gay friend.

Yeah, but then why make it up?  Why not just say, "I have a girlfriend back home, you've never met her."  Why create the whole persona anyway?  Why kill her off?

I guess his whole draft status would be suspect but, FGS, he'd be THE gay athlete (forget the ones with the problems, look at this guy!). He even went to a Catholic school and was brought up a Mormon! He had to hide who he was.

What a hero!  Whatever he'd lose, he'd make up easily as being THE poster boy for the gay movement. He'd get endorsement deals for the whole gay subculture.  People would pay millions to tell his life story with a Vaseline-soaked camera lens.

Maybe he doesn't want all that and wants to be in the closet, but it's not like there aren't options for him.  Look at Jane Lynch and Wanda Sykes.  Do you think they'd get work if they were straight?

177 It's the business of college football fans because Te'o rode the "death" of this ficticious girl, along with the death of his grandmother, into a wave of sympathy that got him a lot of awards.

If not for Johnny Manzel having a record-breaking season as QB for A&M, this fucking moron might have won the Heisman.

179 According to Gallup, President Obama is tied with George W. Bush for most unpopular re-elected president since Gallup began measuring presidential job-approval in 1945.

In fact, Gallup found that apart from Bush, "every president...has had a higher job-approval rating in the January following his reelection than Obama has."

Obama's approval rating is at 52.

Think about it this way--following reelection, President Reagan's approval numbers beat Obama's by 11 points, President Eisenhower's beat Obama's by 21, and a much-derided Republican President named Richard Nixon beat Obama's numbers by 7.

I think the whole "Hunt the Gay" issue is driven, not by homophobia from some eeeeevil WBC sympathizers, but from the left. It stems from the opinion in prog land that if you are gay you are NOT allowed to keep it private, no matter what reason you have for doing so. If you are gay, prog land demmands!!!! you be loud and proud about it, otherwise they will "OUT" you themselves.

Much like race, the only real interest in sexuality of someone comes from the left.

Amazing that anyone would have to explain that to you. By the way, in case you didn't know, Manti Te'o was STILL lying to the public about his girlfriend, AFTER HE REALIZED SHE DIDN'T EVEN EXIST. But when it becomes "...but I DO have the nerve to impersonate a woman just so I can hear him say he loves me," that's where my sympathy ends. And that's what I'm getting a vibe has happened here. Stay in the closet or not, I don't care. But when you practise this sort of deception - fuck you. Fuck you hard.
