1 The polling must be insanely bad for this. Or she's legit afraid of a civil war. The libs seem to understand the escalation of violence and emotional reactions better than the GOP.

9 Point of order there, Ace. Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, and Mitt Romney already looked like gigantic schmucks for tacitly endorsing Antifa. Granny McBotox just looks saner in comparison now. I swear to God. Somebody's pumping LSD straight into the atmosphere these days.

30 The Left is slow on the uptake. Back during the election, BLM hurt Hillary, which is why they backed off it, but not before some damage had been done. They went with Antifa in the hopes it would brand Trump as a racist, and split his base support. Silly rabbits ... Instead, as predicted, the intensity of Trump's base support (and likelihood to turnout and vote in 2018 and 2020) has only gone up.

31 I'd just like to point out that Pelosi's district is San Francisco.  Berkeley is literally where a LOT of her constituents went to college.  This means the polls EVEN AMONG HARD LEFT SAN FRANCISCANS must be bad enough to justify her speaking up and saying "Knock this shit off."

She's bound by different rules, like all libs write for themselves.  So she can say she condemned them, but anyone to her right will be raked over as 'pro-racist,' pro-white-supremacist like they did to Trump.

The real news here is the Left can openly embrace what they STILL condemn Trump for doing.

51 From what I've been able to casually observe, some of Pelosi's statements lead me to be believe she's sliding into early stage dementia. She also seems to think that Bush is still president.

Please note: A Democrat, who looks to be exhibiting symptoms of a serious Brain Disorder is, in this case, making more sense than numerous Republicans, including Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio and Mitt Romney.

Which leads me to  concludes... the GOPe really wants to lose in the midterms and the next presidential election. And they're obviously not concerned about their "voter base" and the "will of the people."

Parting question: is there a way to make former GOPe politicians unemployable in the private sector?

2010: Vote for us, we'll lower taxes, lower spending, build a wall and stop all this crazy left wing social engineering!

2012: Aw shucks we lost the Presidency! Guess you'll have to wait until 2016.

2014: Wait you gave us the Senate? WTF!?!?! Oh, I mean we still don't have the Presidency.

2016: F*** What is wrong with you people?!? Oh wait, uh, we can't do anything of those things we promised you because. Um, Reasons. But totes after 2018 we'll get right on them if you give us uh...436 house seats, 102 Senate seats, and...um...leadership of the Holy Roman Empire.

2018: Why aren't these people voting for us?!?! We made them all the same promises as usual right?

If the Dems rebuke her statement, the country will be even more repulsed by them. If they don't, they will give Bernie the wedge with which to split the party in half. As I said, pass the popcorn.

Posted by: sunny-dee at August 30, 2017 12:04 PM (QAOZh) I'll go with (a), the polling for this is insanely bad. If Hillary was President, Pelosi would be backing Hillary's plan to confiscate privately owned firearms to the hilt, to hell with the prospect of insurrection. Democratic Party has become increasingly radicalized over the last 20 years. It is now overtly socialist, Blue Dog moderates have been removed from the House and Senate, and its leadership is largely far-Left (although many hide their far-Left leanings as Obama did). They'll be up for another Civil War when they have the presidency again, with the full power of the Executive behind them.

Last night he said he had to talk Trump or he was going to explode and I said fine. He went off for at least 20 minutes about how the media was lying about everything. His wife is a bleeding heart lib and he mainly watches CNN and MSNBC so he knows what she's seeing. He went off on me level ranting (there's a reason we're BFFs) about how it's all lie after lie after lie. The tipping point for him? How Antifa is being presented. He was horrified at how huge parts of the press seem just peachy keen with the Left beating the shit out of people. He's gone from NeverTrump to all in for Trump 2020 and even said he wanted to petition to change his 2016 vote from Johnson to Trump. Yes, he knows that's not something he can do, he's just that fed up. Anecdata, yadda yadda yadda but this is a guy whose wife makes big bucks and who lives in a very posh Philly suburb. And none of this is coming from me. This is all due to him watching the news and what he sees and what is reported being completely at odds. We also discussed whether he should take the job he was offered given that he literally stepped over two homeless guys to get into the building. Oh and he called a cop friend of his about the area and the cop friend told him what the hell are you thinking, the ambulances won't go there because they get shot at and hijacked for their pain meds. I mildly suggested that, no, no, he should not take that job.

What percentage of those are pimply teens who'll shortly grow out of it? What percentage are lefty trolls? What percentage are government agents?

Reflect on this: the Charlottesville gathering was supposed to be *the* big gig where Nazis, neo-Nazis, Confederates, neo-Confederates, and the Ku Klux Klan could all come together to forge a mighty new coalition.

Approx. 280 people showed up from all those groups combined.

Relative to the population of the USA, that's literally less than one in a million. Less than one in a million swearing fealty to these groups and feeling strongly enough about it to show up at a public event. They're not even a rounding error.

200 And 93 million Americans die every week because of gun violence Let's assume the utter retard is correct, and that StormFront reports that they have a database of 300,000. They've been around, what, nearly thirty years? If they've never groomed their database, a minimum of 3/4 of those registered users are inactive, and probably another half of those that remain are duplicates - or duplicates to the nth of inactive users. Of those remaining, less than a tenth are going to be more than casual, and how many of those are plants or trolls? In other words, no more than 3,000 dudes who are "a problem", at most. Which checks out with FBI and a weighted SPLC number. BUT: even if we were to assume Jerkwad Whoreson was correct - 300,000 people who post on StormFront - that is less than one in a thousand people. That's tiny. I've known of webcomic forums that had tens of thousands of registered users. The numbers, he does not *get* how they work.

217 Some of us have noted this dynamic for a bit. There was no chance this antifa crap was going to go down well with the general public. And yes polling is being done, and yes it shows what you'd expect. But note that the electoral juice here, for the Dems, was always race-baiting and racism to boost black turnout. Something on which the likes of Mitt and Ryan were happy to cooperate, when it came to adopting these preposterous high-profile postures of alarm and moral righteousness about infinitesimal nearly invisible white-power freaks. But even the "mainstream" tactic to stoke racism - the wave of vandalism against history - of course found little favor. Even black majorities oppose it. Of course Rubio has blazed his own unique path of idiocy. Don't believe he has yet corrected or apologized for his historic statement saying that violence was justified against certain points of view. Always thought he was a very light lightweight, but he seems to be getting even smaller and dumber.

251 So I was looking over the list of the various Republicans who indignantly denounced Trump after his remarks on Charlottesville (it's a long list) and was looking for one specific name.

Aha! Yep. There she is. Barbara Comstock.

You see, back during the early internal House debates on Obamacare repeal, Ryan and McCarthy were talking to Trump and Trump's legislative liasions, and the House GOP bosses specifically held up Comstock as an example for Trump.

Why, you see, Barbara's a really good person, and a loyal follower, and we really need to keep her around, but... Obamacare polls really well in her district, and if we whip her hard into voting for a repeal, she's history in the 2018 cycle. And there are others like her! You can't go kicking down doors on this thing. They'll all lose their seats!

That sort of logic convinced Trump to back off on a hard repeal push and go for the softly-softly option on Obamacare to start. To protect the likes of Barbara Comstock. Which predictably ended up flaming out, delivering nothing, and causing Trump considerable embarrassment.

And how did Comstock and her ilk repay this considerable favor delivered to them at considerable political cost to Trump? By loudly denouncing him at the first opportunity as a racist retard.

289 Mitt: "One side is racist, bigoted, Nazi. The other opposes racism and bigotry. Morally different universes." Tell it to Nancy, Nancy. Mitt and Co. are trapped in the past. They're used to the #FakeNews telling them how high to jump--and then jumping even higher. Trump got it right; there are "many sides". Even Pelosi is admitting as much, tho' she would deny it. There were neo-Nazis. But there were also neo-Communists. There were also people who simply don't want their heritage criminalized. There were also peaceful protestors like Heather Heyser. Many sides. And that's if the whole thing wasn't wasn't cooked-up in the Obamas' spare bedroom, which it smells like. If it were just about the Klan, I'd be out there too. But not shoulder-to-shoulder with Antifa nightriders and vigilantes. If the Crips get in a street fight with the Bloods, that doesn't make the Bloods heroes, Mitt. 309 As long as public policy is to our liking (or at least tolerable) I don't care how many lies politicians tell me. Trump was elected and some incumbents are going to get voted out in 2018 because public policy has been intolerable. If it wasn't for the second amendment and the FDR amendment we would still have Obama. Except we really would have Bill Clinton. FDR proved that the US could borrow any amount of money it took to bribe people to vote for FDR. That is also how Truman beat Dewey. Remember the dam project in Kentucky that got Obama a blank check? Trump may have to do a few of those in other states to get a tax cut.

NET stagnant.

Within that context, however, Obama was perfectly happy to financially "reward our friends and punish our enemies", in Valerie Ferret's phrase.

The "friends" received extensive financial favors and did really well out of the Obama years overall.

Example: turning a blind eye to the brazen tax avoidance shenanigans by Hollyweird, hedge fund honchos and technoligarchs.

Example: handing out extorted big-bank "settlement" billions to various lefty pressure groups.

Example: Pigford.

Comparable examples exist on the other side of the ledger of "enemies" getting the short end of the stick.

318 Bernard Lewis once famously described the early stages of the Iran-Iraq War as "a resistible force meeting a movable object" (well, maybe not famously, but I was there and it was a well received witticism). This seems to describe the Dem-GOP death match that is shaping up for 2018. A remarkably feckless GOP, ignoring most of the political dynamic has produced their majorities and Trump in the WH, fighting them even, relying on inertia, lazy/lousy GOP tribal voters, and a still-horrific/crazy Dem party to get the votes they need. A sight to behold, the Dems, desperately trying to stoke the racism and political pathology of their black base to revive higher turnout, and hoping complete hysteria and idiocy in the MSM (Russia!) will get out the NPR-dumb demo. And, of course, lying their a**es off in many states/districts, implausibly reaching for the stupid "moderate" label to fool the voters who have been clueless enough to swallow it before.

349 Let's see - Pelosi (and by extension, all Democrats) will be praised by the MSM for her bi-partisan and "tough" stand. When Antifa riots, she and all Democrats will be completely insulated by the MSM because she has disavowed them. Antifa will keep rioting because that is what they do. Does anyone really expect them to stop just because PELOSI denounced them? Antifa will still get support from the real source of their lifeline from Soros and other leftists, including pols from blue cities who cooperate with them and give stand down orders to cops. The media will spin this as Democrat leaders sternly denouncing leftist violence, while Trump equivocates. I'm not sure what this does other than provide some protection for the Democrats and the media, and beclown the Republicans.

422 If the election were today, I think the DEMs would re-take the House.

The polling is NOT "insanely bad" for the DEMs at all. It's ominous for the GOP, imo.

Look at the RCP polling averages (Real Clear Politics) if you have a strong stomach. GOP incumbents are in trouble. Period.

Oh?

B.U.L.L.S.H.I.T. On stilts.

1) Name the 21 Congressional Districts that are going to flip from R to D.

2) Then list each and every Congressional District held by a Dem that in a District that Trump won--explain how the Dems are going to win each and every one of those.

3) And compare your above lists to the results in the last 5 special congressional elections.

Let me save you some time and answer for you:
1) You can't and you won't--you have no idea. And neither does anyone else who spouts that BS.
2) It's a long list and Trump sits at near 50% approval in nearly all of those districts.
3) Magic 8 Ball says, "Ain't no chance in hell the Dems win the House."

PS: RCP polling average had Hillary at, what, +4 on Election Day? Well, that's a gold-standard we ought to keep trusting, isn't it?
