Mary Burke Was Fired By Her Own Family for Slumping Sales, Management Incompetence, and an Abrasive, #Bossy Style; Now Claims She Wasn't Fired, It's Just That Her Job and Paycheck Were Restructured Out of Existence
— Ace

@benk84 linked this this morning, wondering: Why did the media never check into Mary Burke's actual history as an "executive"?

She had been the CEO of her family's bicycle company's European division.

She was a disaster.

In 1993, Tom Albers learned about big problems with Trek Bicycle Corporation's European division. Sales numbers were down, and employees were in a near mutiny against the young woman Trek founder Richard Burke had put in charge.

Albers, Trek’s Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, served as Burke’s second-in-command and suddenly had to navigate a very difficult situation.

The head of Trek's European division was his boss’ daughter, Mary.

...

"Her performance in Europe was not good"” [Albers] says. "We were losing a lot of money for us at the time. I don't remember the amount, but it was considered significant based on where we were [as a company] at that particular point in time."

"And also, we were encountering personnel/people problems over there. The people were threatening to leave the company. Many of them were."

Primarily, Albers contends, because of the managerial style of their supervisor, Mary Burke.

"Her way of managing was kind of a 'her way or the highway' kind of approach to things," Albers explains, adding that her subordinates "felt that she wouldn't listen to them and was just imposing things on them that didn't make sense."

Gee, I wonder how she wound up being a Democrat politician.

Mary Burke fought back against these late disclosures alleging that they were "ridiculous" and "completely false."

Now she "clarifies" that she wasn't fired -- it's just that the position she was occupying was eliminated, and she was not offered another position at the company.

And then she went snow-boarding for two years.

You know -- not like a firing at all.

14 Until Albers spoke they had a chance to sweep it under the rug because the only other name on the record being interviewed is the head of the Jefferson County Rep Party and could make it seem like a political hit. Albers was there during the massive growth and he damned her with faint praise. Local papers red faced again...not by embarrassment but by anger. They had this tip months ago and choose to bury it for their own political party's benefit.

One extended work break, including two lengthy snowboarding ventures. It was, in short, a very long trek....

Once all of the Trek offices were up and running, Burke said her job as director of European operations became unnecessary. She was also burned out from the work. So it was then time to take a couple of years off to find herself.[at age 34]...

According to her old passports, Burke said she actually spent only two months - July and August 1993 - in Argentina. She was quoted in a Wisconsin State Journal story in 2005 saying she went on the trip because she was 'going out with this guy'. Now Burke said she wasn't traveling with a boyfriend but was simply accompanied by friends."

When an incumbent is scoring 50% in polls against a challenger they generally win. Add a competence bombshell that is badly handled by the challenger and you can add another 3 points to the incumbent. So we are looking at Walker scoring 55% with the Lesbo bringing in around 40-42%. That be double landslide in Wisconsin.

293 I can't decide if Walker is just an incredibly deft politician or if he's just been incredibly lucky with a combination of horrible opponents and thug tactics that have badly backfired.

But you really can't say his electoral success in such a reliably blue state is a fluke, and he has governed as a brave conservative that was willing to take the fight to the enemy.

He really should be at the top of any conservative's list for President, the problem is, when I see him, I just can't imagine him actually winning the White House.

And do you know what I love about this? I  think the GOP has probably known about this for a while, but sat on it until after the Dems dropped their own, predictable "October Surprise" - Milwaukee County Exec Chris Abele (another trust fund baby who took up politics because he needed a hobby)  did an email dump last week; however, it turns out that nothing in the emails incriminates Walker at all. They have nothing but wanted the public to think some top secret, sinister info was being released - that's been their MO all along. Make it appear as though Walker is hiding something.

In the meantime, the Dems either didn't bother to vet their own candidate or thought the lapdog media wouldn't report it. So the Dems move their piece and say "Check," Walker moves his and says "Checkmate." Right before the election. Now the Dems are screaming "Foul play!" because they've been out-Alinsky'ed; the difference is that Burke really is an incompetent, empty suit.

309 More men are fighting back the campus feminazi rules. I think this is due to the internet. In the past, the men had an incentive to just accept being quietly kicked out to avoid having their name smeared as a rapist. But now that gets out anyway - so might as well fight it. Your reputation is getting destroyed anyway. Some pscyho bitch will put your name on a website claiming you are a monster. So better to fight it, sue the schools, demand actual justice, rather than meekly accept their kangaroo court start chamber bullshit. I think the psycho radfems putting the names of these men who are not ever even charged with a crime, just campus discipline, I think the feminist psychos putting the men's name on the internet is causing more men to fight it. Might as well, only way to get your reputation back.

It may be just me, but I don't think of the Republican Party as "we" any longer.

I tend to think of the Democrats as "they" and of the Republicans (with a few rare exceptions) as a slightly less distasteful version of "they" as well.

I'm delighted to see the Democrats lose, but I've been burned too many times by the GOP to join in as everyone starts plucking each other's flocks.

329 Lets be clear on this. Wisconsin isn't "falling" for anything here. Majority of people voting for Mary Burke are voting against Scott Walker. This is an ugly struggle for power moving forward that I get more and more sure with the passage of time that will not end. There can be no negotiations, reaching across the aisle, no trying to find common ground, no agreeing to disagree and no trying to get them to see anything other than destroying Walker and republicans by any means possible. Their Lt. Gov candidate is a prosecuted and jailed draft dodger, their AG candidate was in housing contract with a child molester in which she waited until after he paid her back to even charge him while DA in Jefferson County. Their Guv candidate is an absolute empty canvas who had her path to the nomination cleared just so she could spend Daddy's money on her own behalf. That is how empty their bench is. They will all get roughly 43-46% of the vote. They have no shame they have no morality. And their voters are no better. The left in this State is sick beyond cure and when I say that there is not one Democrat you can hold up in this State as a beacon of statesmanship, I am not kidding. Until we drain the swamp of financial backing unions and special interests, nothing is going to change. Great place to live...shitty place to endure constant politics.

Didn't need to build a big building to get her into Hahvahd.  Daddy's check book just got a little, not noticeably, lighter, Mary had to give up snowboarding in Venezuela for about 6 years, and voila!  Hahvahd MBA!

Lets see, at Daddy and Brother's company, she was structured out, meaning she was so bad that nobody (not nobody as in, you know, nobody could do the job better, but nobody in terms of an empty chair) was better.

Most amazing, that was 11 years ago and all she has done on the record since then is snowboard, buy a school board and volunteer some time with kiddies. Yeah, she can connect with her constituents.  This is the Dems answer to ACT 10?
