Letterman's Interview With Paris Hilton
— Ace

More squirmy than funny, but worth a look.

I have to say I sort of think he's a dick. In his old days he took some shots at celebrities, but for more than 10 years he's been nothing but another ass-kissing starfucker. He goes after Hilton here not because he's a bad boy but because he's a pussy and he knows she's a safe target.

Not that I don't think she deserves some razzing. I'm just saying Letterman is trying to pretend he has balls by picking on a borderline retard.

Thanks to Dave in Garfield-Ridge.

1 Hilarious, some company gets the right to use her name, presents her with fragrances and packaging and she actually thinks she accomplished something.
What kind of crack-whores wear that stuff?

2 He's a sadistic fuck.

3 I really used to love Letterman and his show. He was a funny smart-ass willing to try stupid things just to get a laugh, and I would stay up 'til 1AM in college to watch, even with an early class. I don't know what happened to him. Maybe losing the Tonight Show job to Leno threw him for a loop. Maybe he just burned out. Doing the same show for over 20 years can get old, and he's no spring chicken. Leno retiring in a couple of years looks like a great move now. Maybe Dave should do the same.

Sort of a dick?

Yeah, the same way I'm "sorta sexy".

That didn't really work, did it?

He's been a dick for years. I remember how he went after Nicole Kidman when she was a guest shortly after her whirlwind divorce from Tom Cruise. The divorce was not what she wanted and came as a shock to her, so the jokes were cruel.

7 He is a classless asshole whoring for the Dems when he isn't being a bully.  He did real well against another asshole named Bill O'Reilly who actually knows things and deals in facts.

8 I was big fan for decades. He performs for the troops overseas, and does some other nice things for them stateside.

He was lame enough to be outclassed by O'Reilly. Then he bullies these retarded slutlets, but fawns all over Jane Fonda. He praised her for what she did in Vietnam, and that was when I swore off his show.

Letterman's got an all-star lineup this week.  An all-star lineup of douchebags including Alec Baldwin and Sean Penn.   Why would anyone waste their time?

Sorry,

umm,

I wasn't in prison but I was in the brigg.

If I were an airheaded retard on the lettermen show, I would have pummeled him stupid if he DARE talk to me in that way.

12 Yeah - another used-to-be fan here, too.  And I'm certainly not a fan of Paris', but that was 100% dick.

I guess it's his best shot at an edward r. murrow award.

13 I find him rude to most his guests.

14 I liked it when he was rude to The Joker and The Joker killed him and the entire audience.

Frank Miller rocks.

15 Back in the Clinton years (shudder), he used to take some pretty good shots at Bill and Hill. He was pretty merciless. But ever since Hillary's first appearance on the show--which seemed to disarm him--he's been a total leftist toady. No more jokes about democrats, and he only has Hil on to give her free air time.

I believe there were reports of empty KoolAid packets found in his dressing room.

So, what's with Paris Hilton's voice.  She goes back and forth between a baby voiced 13 year old to a husky grown woman.

Sybil.

I wonder how many personalities she really has?

18 She probably learned how to say "no" when talking to him before the show.

19 Count me in the "he's always been an egotistical douche" category.  Even back in his early days, he never had guests on to get them to open up to the audience but rather it was always, "how can I use this guest to make me, David Letterman, look funny."

I found that his act got old fast.

Posted by: OregonMuse at September 30, 2007 04:37 PM (dtQ3T)

20 His bitter old man act was funny when he was a younger man, but now that he is old it's obvious that is wasn't an act.

I saw that segment with PH and Dave did try to get some humor at her expense. She surprised me by pretty much shutting that line of questioning off after a few minutes. Still, she's a spoiled little rich girl and certainly no one to emulate.

I am a long time fan of Letterman going back to the earliest days of Andy Kaufman and Larry 'Bud' Melman. He certainly has become a lefty lately, but I try to overlook that because I still enjoy his off the cuff humor.

BTW- all late night talk show hosts are professional celebrity ass-kissers. It helps when booking guests.

22 Letterman's early success was based on the fact that he didn't take himself too seriously. now he's just seriously into himself.

Posted by: mark c at October 01, 2007 02:25 AM (DIXci)

23 Conan O'Brian is the only funny guy on late-night TV. Letterman is as old and tired as CBS itself. He wasn't funny when he still had hair and that was a long time ago. Remember his disaster emceeing the Oscars? It was pitiful.

24 On a side note, Paris's porn co-star is set to marry Pamela Anderson.  Can't wait for the movie.

25 Dave thought the Tonight Show was his friggen birthright, and when he got passed by Leno, who in his mind is lesser, he was never the same.

Can't stand Letterman.  Every joke, word, gesture, prop, sound effect is an "inside" joke, and it's all about him.  The repartee he has with himself is annoying.

I can't stay up that late anyway.

Letterman used to be pretty funny, but that was long ago.

Now he's just a leftist ass-kisser. Makes jokes about GW Bush? Oooo! how brave of him! I don't recall him poking holes in the Clintons, just those "back handed" jokes which were really compliments. His thin veneer of impartiality wore off ages ago. This is why he lost out to Leno but of course he can never admit or even understant that.

Fergison is way funnier than O'Brian.
